Tottenham Hotspur finally win their first Premier League match of the campaign with a 3-1 victory against Coventry City on Monday night and here are our Spurs player ratings from the game.

It was a repeat in terms of teams for Spurs of the 1987 FA Cup final and Frank Lampard's Coventry team had been in good form in recent weeks with back-to-back wins while their hosts were still searching for their first in the Premier League.

Roberto De Zerbi, fresh from a four-night team bonding trip in Marbella, was without the suspended Rodrigo Bentancur as well as the injured Savio and Lucas Bergvall, while Destiny Udogie was nursing a knee issue and wasn't risked.

There was a place on the bench for Dejan Kulusevski, 526 days on from the Swede suffering a complicated knee injury two seasons ago and it was 536 days on from James Maddison's last start for the club and he made up for lost time with a wonderful opening goal just 14 minutes in.

It was the first time Spurs had taken the lead in a Premier League game this season as the 29-year-old curled home a perfect effort from outside the box from Mohammed Kudus' pass.

Coventry equalised five minutes into the second half. Poor defending from the hosts gave Jack Rudoni the space to score after a ball into the box bounced to him off Brandon Thomas-Asante. Antonin Kinsky could only pat the ball into his own net.

However, Omar Marmoush scored his first goal for Spurs on 58 minutes and it was a belter. Andy Robertson played the ball into him and the Egyptian turned and battled past his man before curling the ball into the far corner of the net.

Spurs had to make a double change on 69 minutes with both Andy Robertson and Tosin Adarabioyo, making his full debut, needing to come off for Ben Davies and Mateus Fernandes, while Maddison's shift came to an end with Conor Gallagher taking his place.

After some nervy moments the home side wrapped up their first victory of the Premier League season with Davies hitting a shot that the Coventry goalkeeper Carl Rushworth fumbled into his own net.

Here are our Spurs player ratings from the game:

Antonin Kinsky

Stopped a dangerous early Sakamoto cross from drifting all the way into the goal. Won't be happy about his weak hand for Rudoni's goal as he patted it into his own net. 6

Jan Paul van Hecke

Asked to play at right-back and never looked particularly comfortable defending against Thomas-Asante on the deck but did well overall in the air.. Looked better at the other end of the pitch with his passing and when he switched into the centre of defence. 6

Tosin Adarabioyo

Making his full debut and did well enough until playing his part in the Coventry goal. Picked up an injury and needed to come off before the 70 minute mark. 7

Micky van de Ven

Made a great sliding tackle before the break to block Thomas-Asante's shot after playing the Coventry man onside to run through on goal. Did well in the air also. Spurs' best defender on the day. 8

Andy Robertson

Was playing well, sometimes without too much help from Marmoush, before giving the Egyptian the ball for his goal. Then appeared to suffer a hamstring injury and needed to come off. 7

Archie Gray

Back in his favoured midfield position and he was one of Spurs' brighter players. Switched to right-back and he was crucial late in the game with his challenges and work rate. 8

Sandro Tonali

Never stopped running. Always available for the pass and helped Spurs get out of plenty of problematic moments. Hit two shots over and looking more and more at home. 8

James Maddison

A big smile before kick-off and that got even broader with a brilliant goal 14 minutes, curling it home from outside the box on his first start in 17 months. Bright throughout, constantly wanting the ball and didn't tire as much as many might have expected. 8

Mohammed Kudus

A simple enough assist for Maddison but battled away trying to find openings, without too much quality at the end of his forays inside from the right flank. 6

Omar Marmoush

Some poor early tracking back during one Coventry attack but made up for it by racing back not too longer after to stop Cherif in full flight. Then went quiet for a spell but roared to life with his first goal for the club, curling a right-footed effort that the keeper could only push into the net. Another who looked to pick up an injury. 7

Dominic Solanke

A battling display with little personal reward. Looks sharper and fitter and Spurs benefit from his pressing and hold-up play. Got the assist for Davies' late goal. 6

Subs

Conor Gallagher

Brought extra legs into the centre of the attack and worked hard defensively. 6

Ben Davies

An unlikely late scorer and did well when called upon. 7

Mateus Fernandes

Aside from one lapse on the ball he brought plenty of energy to Spurs' play and made some important touches of the ball. 6

Mathys Tel

Brought some late pace down the left to keep the ball high up the pitch and hit an effort over after running from one box to the other. 6

Dejan Kulusevski
