Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has insisted they are ready for the Champions League this season and determined to go as far as possible.
Tuttomercatoweb cover comments from the Tottenham goalkeeper today made in an interview with Sky Italy.
Tottenham will be back in the Champions League this season after returning to the competition thanks to their success in the Europa League last season.
It will be a first Champions League campaign for new manager Thomas Frank, who was brought in to replace Ange Postecoglou this summer despite the Australian guiding Tottenham to a much-wanted trophy in the Europa League.
It will be the first time Tottenham have been in the competition since 2022, having failed to qualify the following year.
They had been regulars over the last decade and were finalists in 2019, when they were eventually beaten by Liverpool. That was the further they’d been in the competition in their short stint in it, having regularly exited at the last 16.
Whether they can do better this year remains to be seen but Vicario is insistent that they want to be there until the very end.
“Last year in the league, things didn’t go as we wanted,” he said.
“We need to improve, establish ourselves among the big teams. The Champions League will be tough, but we’re ready.
“For many, it will be the first time, including myself. We want to be a thorn in everyone’s side. Football is unpredictable, and we want to be there until the end.”
