Hamburger SV are keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Vušković on loan this summer.
On Tuesday, Kicker reported HSV have reached an agreement with the centre-back and are waiting for Tottenham to give the green light for his move.
Hamburger Abendblatt, a newspaper local to the German club, backs that up and provides the latest on their pursuit of the Tottenham player.
Spurs will have the final say and are said to be carefully considering the best option for him.
Hamburger SV CEO Stefan Kuntz and sporting director Claus Costa are waiting to find out if Tottenham will sanction a move. They would ideally hope to secure the 18-year-old’s services before the end of this week.
The problem is that the Europa League winners haven’t set a deadline to decide what to do with the defender. Therefore, the Bundesliga newcomers are already in talks with two alternatives.
Another Hamburg local newspaper, Hamburger Morgenpost, also reports the German club have already identified alternatives to Vušković.
Thomas Frank’s side face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup later today. Vušković isn’t part of the squad and Hamburger Morgenpost say this is an indication Spurs plan to send him on loan.
Both Kuntz and Costa were eagerly waiting for a phone call from Tottenham which never came on Tuesday. They are still waiting and the report says ‘A game of patience to which the Hamburg club is now responding.’
Despite the agreement with the Croatia international, the report states it’s not a given that he’ll end up at Hamburger SV this summer. Tottenham haven’t set a deadline and don’t seem to be under pressure to sanction his exit quickly.
The report states: ‘There’s no timeframe for when Spurs will make a decision. This is one of the reasons why Hamburger, despite their clear intention to sign Vušković, are unwilling to be tied to the decision.’
