The 2024/25 season is firmly in the books, but the summer transfer window has only just begun as teams begin strengthening their squads a little earlier than usual in preparation for the Club World Cup.

The first window of opportunity which applies to all teams falls between 1 June and 10 June, before transfer activity resumes once opening again just six days later from 16 June until 1 September.

As it stands, Liverpool have been the most active team this summer and after securing the £29.5m addition of Jeremie Frimpong and a reported £8.4m for Trent Alexander-Arnold to leave a month early with his contract expiring, it’s suspected that it won’t be long before further names are added to their star-studded team with Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz seemingly being the next names on the list.

However, it’s also widely reported that Liverpool will be in the market for further attacking reinforcements this summer as well, and one player that is thought to rank highly on their list is Yankuba Minteh. The Gambian international, 20, has enjoyed a breakout season for Brighton & Hove Albion after a £30 million move from Newcastle United last summer.

The North East club didn’t want to sell Minteh at the time but found their hands tied amid concerns about breaching PSR in a frantic 24 hour period which also saw Elliot Anderson depart to Nottingham Forest and enjoy similar success.

Liverpool target bold move for Yankuba Minteh

Champions Liverpool are now eyeing a move to sign electric Brighton star Yankuba Minteh this summer, according to Stretty News. The outlet explains the Reds are huge fans of the young right-winger, who has scored seven goals and registered five assists in 37 appearances across all competitions this term.

Minteh is primarily a right-sided winger, renowned for his exceptional speed, agility and workrate. He ranks 12th in terms of goal creating actions per 90 in the entire division this season and ranks in the 96th percentile for tackles and 97th for clearances amongst wingers in Europe.

The winger is progressing at a rapid rate and is seen as someone that could provide long-term competition for Mohamed Salah and offer further squad depth next season. However, Man United are also thought to be keeping a close eye on proceedings due to the young winger’s ability to slot into Ruben Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, as per Caught Offside.

The 3AM verdict: Yankuba Minteh is developing into a fine footballer and at just 20-years-of-age already looks at home in the Premier League.

He could prove a suitable option for United in the wing-back role due to his ability to bomb up the pitch and track back in equal measure, while he’d also suit Liverpool in many ways by giving the club an option from the bench. However, at this stage of his career staying at Brighton could be the best bet for his development and also for the Seagulls as his valuation is only likely to increase with each passing season.

Tottenham Ready to Trigger £68m Release Clause

Tottenham Hotspur are back in the Champions League and reportedly ready to make a statement of intent by activating the £68m release clause of Crystal Palace FA Cup hero Eberechi Eze, as per reports from GiveMeSport.

The Lilywhites finished last term in 17th and are in desperate need of recruits to cope with the demands of Europe’s elite competition while also climbing the league table. Eze has enjoyed his finest individual campaign of his career to date with 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 matches across all competitions and will have high hopes of representing England at next summer’s World Cup.

The 3AM verdict: Eze is arguably one of the most talented players in Crystal Palace’s recent history and a key figure in the club’s progress into European football for the first time in the club’s history. He’s someone that would slot into most teams in the league and would be an asset for a club like Tottenham despite competition from Dejan Kuluveski, Heung Min-Son, Brennand Johnson and potentially Richarilson in the wide areas.

It’s a move that makes sense from a Tottenham perspective in a lot of ways due to the quality he’d offer them, but their priorities should lay in defensive areas after a season where they have leaked 65 goals alone in the league. They should only really move for Eze if they can get other attackers out of the door and should first be prioritising the backline and defensive midfield options.
