Roberto De Zerbi is speaking to reporters following Tottenham's 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat at Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The first chance of the night was a big one for the visitors on 12 minutes. Conor Gallagher sent Destiny Udogie down the left and his low cross was diverted to the free Lucas Bergvall but Giorgi Mamardashvili got a toe to his low shot from eight yards. Liverpool had a big chance four minutes later when Dubravka had to deny Lewis Koumas one-vs-one after the Liverpool man turned Senesi to race into the box.
The deadline was broken on 21 minutes with Alexis Mac Allister unmarked in the box to curl an effort into the top right corner of the net after an Udogie tackle sent the ball to his feet. There should have been a Spurs equaliser just after the half hour mark as a rapid break ended with Udogie's low cross being sent over the crossbar by Kudus from about six yards out.
It was the hosts who found the next goal on 54 minutes, Gray giving too much space to Cody Gakpo, linked with Spurs for most of the summer, and the Dutchman fired a low effort inside the right-hand post.
Gallagher gave Tottenham hope when he headed home Mateus Fernandes' corner from close range in the 69th minute.
As the rain poured down, Dominik Szoboszlai was denied by Dubravka and at the other end Giorgi Mamardashvili made a brilliant reaction save from Omar Marmoush's deflected shot. Spurs had their chances, but ultimately the game was decided by a world class finish as Szoboszlai struck a swerving half-volley into the net from distance with remarkable technique.

On Dubravka's debut
Good. He's a good guy, good goalkeeper. I'm sorry, and it's my responsibility. Because maybe in the middle of the first half we didn't recognise the clear situation man-to-man. And we had to do totally different than play close, close, close and short. But is a process. It was the first game for Dubravka. In the second half he played very well.
The Spurs boss on the game
We have to shoot more times, we have to shoot better, we have to finish better the clear situations, but we are sorry for the result, disappointed, frustrated for the result. I think, unfair, but we have to accept and to be stronger than this unlucky moment, because I'm honest, I'm honest with myself and I'm honest with you, I think in these five, six games, we have been for sure not lucky with Newcastle, with Everton, even with Nottingham and tonight as well. A lot of things, because the first goal we conceded we didn't defend in the right way, and the second goal we could be closer with Gakpo, but have to understand if we are in the right way or not, I think watching the game, the last three games, four games, maybe until minute 60 with Newcastle, I think we are in the right way. I believe in my players, I have a big confidence, a big opinion of my players, and when we arrive to find the click, to win a game, I think we enjoy with these players, because the qualities of the players are incredible. Have a look at Marmoush, Savio, Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Mateus Fernandes, Robertson, don't forget Pedro Porro. Solanke, Solanke top, he's a good player. It's a tough moment, but we have to be stronger to prepare our best for the next game with Villa and to find this click.
