Tottenham Hotspur have offered Cristian Romero to Inter Milan during recent talks between the clubs.

The North London side have been in negotiations with Inter over a potential deal for Djed Spence, and have offered Romero as another option.

Spurs are keen to find a resolution to Romero's future, with the Argentina international eager to leave the club this summer. Having signed Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi as centre-back options, Spurs are willing to let Romero leave if a suitable fee arrives.

The club captain has been outspoken in his unhappiness in recent months, criticising the Spurs board on multiple occasions.

In February, he outlined his frustration after the closure of the January transfer window left an injury-hit Spurs squad depleted.

“Great effort from all my teammates yesterday, they were all incredible,” he said after a draw with Manchester City.

“I wanted to be available to help them even though I wasn’t feeling well, especially as we had only 11 players available – unbelievable but true and disgraceful.”

He had previously accused the board of 'lies' in a quickly deleted social media post.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Spurs have enquired about Inter's potential interest, amid a preference to sell the defender abroad. Manchester United had previously been linked with the 28-year-old, while Barcelona are also admirers.

Discussions are ongoing between Spurs and the Italian champions for Djed Spence, with Inter keen on a deal for the England full-back. Spence is also open to the transfer to Italy and is valued at around £40m by Spurs.

Roberto De Zerbi is prepared to let Spence leave this summer after signing Andy Robertson from Liverpool as a free agent.
