One of Tottenham Hotspur’s targets, who has held talks with the North London club, might now be heading elsewhere.
The Lilywhites’ transfer plans could now spring into action with Thomas Frank finally in place following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make any concrete moves for new additions; however, they have permanently signed Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso.
But now, a player who they have held a long-term interest in and held talks over a transfer this summer is subject to a bid from another European club.
FC Porto make improved bid for Tottenham target Roony Bardghji
FC Porto have made an improved bid for Spurs target Roony Bardghji, as reported by Bold.
TBR Football revealed that Tottenham had held talks with Bardghji over a transfer, but now the Portuguese club are looking to steal a march.
Porto have submitted a second improved offer for the winger and are now working with FC Copenhagen to get a deal done for the teenager.
Tottenham hold a long-term interest in Bardghji, with the Lilywhites having been keeping tabs on him since at least 2023.
The 19-year-old has just six months remaining on his contract, and clubs have held talks about signing for a cut-price deal this summer.
TBR Football understands that Tottenham want to sign a right-sided forward this summer, which is predominantly where Bardghji plays.
The North London club ideally want a starter, but could see the young Swede as a solid investment, especially considering their long-term interest in a deal.
Bardghji has been dubbed ‘the Swedish Messi’, which proves just how highly rated he is and why Spurs are keen to sign him.
Tottenham might be deterred by Roony Bardghji’s injury record
One factor which could deter Tottenham from pursuing a deal for the teenager is his recent injury record.
Bardghji suffered an ACL injury back in April 2024 which took him until March of this year to finally return after missing 48 matches.
The ‘extraordinary’ winger has just suffered a new injury, which is always a concern after just coming back from such a serious issue.
The youngster’s talent and potential price tag mean that the risk is minimal, but that is surely something which could impact Spurs’ plans for him.
At this stage, it doesn’t appear to be putting off Porto who are looking to secure his signature this summer.
