Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for former Aston Villa attackers Moussa Diaby and Jhon Duran in recent days.
Moussa Diaby and Jhon Duran could be on the move before the winter transfer window slams shut, and Tottenham have been mentioned as a potential destination for the former Aston Villa attackers.
However, a report from The Sun has claimed that Tottenham are unlikely to make a move for the two players. Spurs need more quality and depth in the attacking unit, and there is no doubt that Diaby and Duran would be superb acquisitions.
Both players have played in the Premier League for Aston Villa, and they have impressed in English football. They could have made an immediate impact and helped Tottenham improve going forward.
Duran and Diaby would be superb additions
Tottenham desperately need someone who can score goals consistently, and Jhon Duran could be a solid long-term acquisition. The Colombian international is a talented player with a bright future and has the ability to establish himself as an important figure for Tottenham.
Similarly, Diaby has prior experience with Aston Villa in the Premier League, and he could add a new dimension to Tottenham’s attack. Spurs need someone who will add pace, flair, and unpredictability to the side.
The French winger is excellent at taking on defenders and beating them in one-on-one situations. Spurs will need someone like him, and it would be quite surprising if they decided not to make a move for the player.
Both players have performed well in Saudi Arabia (Duran with Al-Nassr and Diaby with Al-Ittihad) and are now looking to return to Europe, although Duran has spent the first half of the 2025/26 season with Fenerbahce. The opportunity to play in the Premier League would have been exciting for them.
Tottenham have an ambitious project, a quality manager, and a talented squad. It will not be difficult for them to convince the two players. However, it seems they are not interested in moving for the duo this month.
Spurs have struggled to score goals and create opportunities this season, and the winter transfer window was their opportunity to change that. If they decide to head into the second half of the season without quality additions in the attack, it could prove to be a costly mistake. Tottenham are already in the mid-table, and they could miss out on European qualification next season.
