Tottenham forward Richarlison ruled out for the rest of 2024

Tottenham Hotspur have shown a real lack of consistency this season, leaving Ange Postecoglou and the fans extremely frustrated.

The Greek-Australian tactician saw his side drop two points late on in the game on Thursday evening in the Europa League against AS Roma. The late Mats Hummels equaliser did put a bit of a dent in Spurs’ Europa League campaign with the North London side now dropping out of the top eight.

Tottenham did come into the game with some significant injury issues following Guglielmo Vicario’s ankle surgery earlier in the week. But it is not just Vicario who was missing with Micky van de Ven, Wilson Odobert, Mikey Moore, Cristian Romero and Richarlison also injured.

As for Richarlison, his season has been ravaged by injury problems. The versatile forward finds himself on the sidelines due to a hamstring problem suffered in the 4-1 win over Aston Villa last month.

Ange Postecoglou confirmed earlier this month that the Brazilian will be out for a few weeks due to a ‘significant’ injury, but it appears as if he has suffered a bit of a setback. According to a report from the Brazilian publication Trivela, Richarlison’s injury is ‘more serious’ than what was expected and is unlikely to feature again for Big Ange’s side in 2024.

Things have been extremely tough for the 27-year-old this season, clocking 88 minutes of Premier League action thus far. Spurs had thought of easing Richarlison back into the mix after he returned from injury in October. They had hoped to see the South American gradually get back to full fitness and rediscover his form, but the latest injury setback has dashed the club’s hopes.

The aforementioned report adds the Lilywhites have no intention of rushing Richarlison back as they try to help him heal fully before bringing him back to the fore. The club’s medical department have to be cautious with the player and wait for the forward to return healthy to put an end to his persistent injury issues.
