Tottenham have moved quickly to secure a loan deal for Kevin Danso from Lens amid strong interest from another Premier League club. Wolves had made the centre-back their priority target and it’s understood that the deal was very advanced. The Midlands club had booked a medical for Danso but he has joined Spurs on-loan until the end of the season with an obligation to buy clause inserted.

Tottenham’s injury issues at centre-back this season are well-documented with first-choice duo Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven missing sustained periods. And their problems in defence were heightened on Thursday night when Radu Dragusin sustained a suspected serious knee injury. Spurs supporters have bemoaned their lack of transfer activity this month amid their injury crisis but they’ve secured the addition of former Southampton defender Danso.

Kevin Danso wants to win trophies at Tottenham

The 26-year-old was delighted to complete the deal, stating: “It feels amazing to be here at the club, I always wanted to play for a big club in the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur is exactly that. I think as soon as you here Tottenham Hotspur is interested then I think the only thing you can do is say yes. It's an amazing project and I'm happy to be here. Opportunities to win trophies is I think every kid's dream growing up, to be winning trophies at a club like Tottenham Hotspur. I hope we can win a couple of trophies."
