Tottenham are set to miss out on Liverpool defender Andy Robertson, after the Reds pulled the plug, but are reportedly exploring a move for Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka.
Tottenham Hotspur have strengthened their squad with the signing of Conor Gallagher this month, but have hit a snag in their pursuit of Andy Robertson. Thomas Frank's side were keen to add more experience to their group and had even initiated preliminary discussions for the Liverpool defender.
However, the Premier League champions decided against letting him depart after their defensive options became increasingly limited. The transfer window closes on Monday, February 2, leaving Spurs with little time to rejuvenate their team for the crucial second half of the season.
Here, football.london takes a look at the latest transfer rumours from north London;
Arne Slot reveals Andy Robertson plan
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has shared the latest news on Robertson's transfer situation. Despite talks with Tottenham, the Scotland international is now expected to stay at Liverpool.
Spurs had shown an interest in the full-back, whose future looked uncertain as his contract expires this summer.
Preliminary discussions took place, but injury problems at Anfield resulted in Liverpool abandoning a deal which would have seen their seasoned full-back depart for a modest fee. Robertson had voiced his wish to remain, revealing conversations about a potential contract extension, but was compelled to acknowledge that he might leave in pursuit of regular playing time.

There were suggestions that Robertson's transfer to the capital could still materialise if Kostas Tsimikas returned from his loan arrangement. However, Slot now anticipates Robertson will remain.
He said: "Robbo is part of the team tomorrow evening and he has been apart of this squad for many years.
"Happy to have him and good that he's available, because that's quite important for us at the moment - to have players available. Nothing happened my side. It's hard to say anything definite with the world we live in [whether he stays this month] but I expect him to say, yes."
Tottenham 'target' Bayern Munich player
According to fresh reports from Italy, Tottenham are considering a move to sign Bayern Munich midfielder, Leon Goretzka. Calciomercato's Daniele Longo has reported that Frank's team have made moves to secure the 30-year-old as part of their efforts to bolster the squad with experience.
Goretzka's contract in Bavaria is set to expire this summer, leaving his future uncertain despite featuring in all-but one of their first 19 Bundesliga matches this season. The report suggests a move to Spurs won't be straightforward, with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid showing interest, with AC Milan also a potential destination.
It's been reported that the Milan club initiated discussions with the representatives of the Germany international, several weeks ago. Sporting director Igli Tare is said to be a fan of the midfielder and aims to emulate a similar transfer he orchestrated for Spurs legend, Luke Modric, who moved to the Serie A side after concluding his trophy-filled stint at Real Madrid.
Juventus 'eye up' Spurs forward
According to Alfredo Pedulla, Juventus could make a last-minute bid for Randal Kolo Muani. Despite only being six months into his season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham are reportedly willing to let the 27-year-old depart.
The Serie A club are rumoured to be considering a stunning move for the Frenchman, following a setback in their attempts to sign Youssef En-Nesyri. The report suggests that any deal between Juventus and PSG would be complicated, as Juve aim to secure Kolo Muani on an initial loan agreement with a compulsory purchase clause - activated if they qualify for the Champions League once more.
Kolo Muani is yet to register a goal in the Premier League this campaign despite featuring in 15 matches. His only two strikes have arrived in the Champions League, both coming during their 5-3 victory over his parent club, PSG.
