Fiorentina are back in the mix to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Radu Drăgușin in the summer transfer window.

The Romania international suffered a serious injury in January 2025 and only returned to the pitch in December.

Tottenham signed him from Genoa for around €25m in January 2024 and he didn’t enjoy regular minutes when fit.

Drăgușin’s agent Florin Manea was open for his client to return to the Serie A in January, when AS Roma, Fiorentina and AC Milan showed interest.

On January 10th, the representative closed the door on La Viola while waiting for Spurs’ response about Roma. The agent said Spurs wanted €25m, however, in the end a move never took shape.

At the time, Manea said: “Fiorentina? With all due respect, that wouldn’t be the right path for him. He costs €25m.”

The defender’s Premier League stats this season are as follows:

Appearances: 8

Starts: 5

Total minutes: 521

Interceptions per game: 1.9

Duels won per game: 2.9

Clearances per game: 5.3

Two months ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that AC Milan won’t give up and will make a fresh attempt to sign him in the summer.

Paratici knows Tottenham player

Fiorentina are also not giving up on Radu Drăgușin despite their failure to secure his services in the last window.

Fabio Paratici ended his second spell at Tottenham Hotspur to join the Serie A side in February. The director knows the 24-year-old from his time at Spurs and seems to be leading their pursuit.

TuttoMercatoWeb journalist Niccolò Ceccarini covered La Viola’s interest in the centre-back and Fiorentina News have relayed his comments.

“In January, Drăgușin was a fairly high-profile target, but he wasn’t very happy about leaving Tottenham and wanted to take his chances at a slightly more ambitious club. In the end, between Roma and Milan, nothing new happened, and the boy remained in London,” he said.

“The Drăgușin situation could reopen this summer. Between Paratici and Tottenham’s valuation.

“The story could reopen this summer: Paratici knows Drăgușin very well, and he’s keen to return to Italy. For Fiorentina, with a significant offer, he’s an opportunity. He’s valued at €20m, and this summer, he could forcefully resurface on Fiorentina’s radar.”

Tottenham have decision to make

Transfermarkt value Radu Drăgușin, who has a contract until 2030, at €20m. Roberto De Zerbi has the Romanian, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso and Ben Davies as the centre-backs.

Davies’ contract will expire in June while Romero and Van de Ven are attracting interest from elsewhere. If one or all three were to leave, Spurs could take a firm stance and keep Drăgușin.

Either way, Tottenham have to make a decision on which players to sell and keep in the summer. Whether the agent comments about the €25m asking price still stand remains to be seen.
