Tottenham Hotspur are having a busy summer transfer window but have been handed a fresh blow

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly look set to miss out on a transfer target to Inter Milan, despite submitting an offer for the player. Spurs have already had a busy summer transfer window, and that looks set to continue over the next few weeks.

Roberto De Zerbi and Co. are currently preparing for the new Premier League season, which will include executing their plans for the summer transfer window.

Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have both been signed by Tottenham as free agents following their departures from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively.

Jan Paul van Hecke has also been signed by Spurs in a £52million deal from Brighton, while there continue to be rumours about the futures of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Manchester City forward Savinho.

On Wednesday, Martin Dubravka was confirmed as Spurs' fourth summer signing on a free transfer, with his contract at Burnley due to expire at the end of the month.

Incomings aren't expected to stop there, though, and Sky Sport Italy have reported that defensive midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic had the option of joining Tottenham this summer, but rejected the offer to return to Inter.

Stankovic spent last season at Club Brugge, having joined the Belgian club on a permanent deal from Inter in the summer of 2025.

Inter had the option of signing Stankovic via a buy-back clause reported to be worth around €23million (£19.85m).

The report claims that Tottenham, led by De Zerbi, made an attempt to sign the midfielder this summer, but Stankovic had no intention of even listening to his plans and rejected the proposal.

Instead, Stankovic is reported to be determined to be a success at Inter, and as a result, has signed a five-year contract that runs until the summer of 2031 to rejoin the Serie A club.

Brentford were also said to have sent a proposal to the 20-year-old but they were also rejected.

Tottenham still have plenty of time to add more new additions to their squad before the new Premier League season gets underway.

Spurs will face Brentford on the opening day on August 22 at the Gtech Community Stadium, but not until they travel to Australia and New Zealand to face Auckland FC, Sydney FC and Chelsea as part of their pre-season preparations.
