Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank will be looking to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad this summer. He has the chance to bring in new signings over the next couple of months. The Dane also has the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed.
Spurs picked him as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou and he will be eager to impress. The London outfit finished down in 17th place in the Premier League table last season. Nevertheless, they were able to win the Europa League.
Tottenham Hotspur eye Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson
Spurs are interested in a move for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson, according to journalist Sami Mokbel. They are being linked with a swoop for the defender. His current club could face a battle to keep him at Craven Cottage amid attention from elsewhere.
Mokbel has said: “I’ve heard there is an interest in the player from Tottenham. I’m not sure how advanced it is or if it has the legs to come to fruition. If it’s the basic question of do Tottenham have an interest in Antonee Robinson, the answer to that is yes, whether that has legs, I’m not sure at the moment.”
Robinson, 27, has been with Fulham since 2020 and has become one of their most prized assets. He has made 189 appearances in all competitions, 38 of which came in the last campaign, and he has chipped in with three goals from the back. His contract at Craven Cottage runs until 2028 meaning the Whites are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and they can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature.
Would Antonee Robinson suit Tottenham Hotspur?
Spurs could see Robinson as an update on Destiny Udogie. If he joined, he would boost their defensive department. The USA international has also played for the likes of Everton, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic in the past.
Following a match away at Liverpool last term, Fulham manager Marco Silva was full of praise for him and said: “What a performance. It’s really difficult to find one moment where he wasn’t at a really high level. Not easy to come here playing against a player like (Mo) Salah, the way normally they like to expose the left-back. We took that risk, to go one-v-one, many times. He was so brave, he was so assertive, he was so aggressive in the right way and he did it so, so well.”
Silva added: “He’s improving so, so quick in some things. I know him very well from Everton, but the way he’s improving in some set-ups, defensive set-ups, being much more brave in the way he faces one-v-one situations, the way he goes inside the spaces as well.
“And of course, again, two assists form a full-back at Anfield shows the quality that he has. I remember some seasons ago, even last season, many people were talking about his decision making, but already he’s the player from our team with more assists for sure. Being clear, what a performance from him. What a performance. Brilliant, unbelievable performance from him, and I told him at the end of the game that he has to be really proud.”
