Tottenham Hotspur are ‘watching’ RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande’s situation closely ahead of the summer, according to The Telegraph. The report suggests the attacker could cost in the region of £70million in the next transfer window. Manchester United and Liverpool are also said to be keen, along with Bayern Munich.
Spurs are currently sat in 16th place in the Premier League table. They are only four points above the drop zone as they look to preserve their top flight status. Igor Tudor’s side lost 4-1 at home against rivals Arsenal last time out.
Tottenham Hotspur target RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande
If Spurs signed Diomande from Leipzig, he would add more quality to their attacking department. He would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he would offer them something different going forward.
Diomande, 19, joined his current club last year and penned a contract running until 2030. That means they are under no pressure to sell him just yet and can wait for big money before they consider cashing in. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season and has scored 10 goals.
The Ivory Coast international, who has nine caps to his name, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and has bags of potential. He caught the eye playing in Spain for Leganes before Leipzig lured him over to Germany. The forward found the net on two occasions in 10 outings during his days in La Liga.
What now for Tottenham Hotspur?
Spurs will want to bounce back from their defeat to Arsenal as soon as possible. They are too close to the bottom three for comfort right now with an away trip to Fulham up next. Speaking after their loss to the Gunners, Tudor said: “I know the truth [about this team], now I saw the truth. It's not nice, but it is how it is.
"Of course, I am confident [of survival]. I believe these are good players with bad habits. Nobody can tell me we don't have quality. But we need to change a mental switch and have this mental sharpness to be in the game from the first minutes and also the physicality to do this. To be physical, you need to work hard, otherwise it's a problem. Too many players had problems. That's the result."
