Tottenham Hotspur finished down in 17th place in the Premier League table this past season. They will be hoping to compete higher up the division next time around. Nevertheless, the London outfit were able to win the Europa League after beating Manchester United in the final in Bilbao last month.
Thomas Frank has been appointed as the new head coach at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He has been picked as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou. The 51-year-old has caught the eye at Brentford over the past few years.
Tottenham Hotspur eye Justin Kluivert move
Spurs are ‘weighing up’ a move for £42m-rated AFC Bournemouth attacker Justin Kluivert this summer, according to CaughtOffside. They are being linked with a swoop for the 26-year-old over the next couple of months. The report adds that Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United are also admirers.
Kluivert, who is a Holland international with seven caps under his belt, has been a key player for the Cherries since joining them in 2023. They could now face a battle to keep hold of him in this window amid attention from elsewhere. He has made 75 appearances for the Dorset club in all competitions and has scored 22 goals, 13 of which came in the last campaign.
The Amsterdam-born man rose up through the academy at Ajax before going on to break into their first-team as a teenager. He found the net on 13 occasions in 56 outings before Roma snapped him up. The forward has since embarked on spells at RB Leipzig, OGC Nice and Valencia before his switch to England.
What now for Tottenham Hotspur after Thomas Frank arrival?
Spurs will be in the hunt for new additions. Frank will be eager to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad with some reinforcements. Kluivert could be seen as someone to bolster their attacking department ahead of next term.
Following Frank’s appointment, former footballer Jan Molby has said: "He sees problems and solves problems. It's a great strength for any manager to have. There have been a couple of seasons when people have thought Brentford would struggle that year, but they didn't. He kept finding new solutions.
"Who would have thought after losing Ivan Toney he would be able to produce a pair like he has done this season, with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa? Thomas has earned the right and he's got what it takes. I think it's a really exciting appointment for Spurs."
He added: "I just have this feeling that for all those things people might be worried about - his career in Denmark, never having managed a club like this - the players will like him. They will like the clarity. They will like his personality, his honesty. He is a very good man-manager. I think he'll be absolutely fine. In the end, it boils down to what he does on the pitch, but I think he's got all the tools to do the job.
"His big strength is he's very clear with the players. He will say: 'This is what I expect and if we all get that we'll be OK.' Thomas is very open. He's a great communicator, which is very important. He's got time for everybody. He doesn't feel the need to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. He's clear in what he wants."
