Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro is attracting interest from former employers Manchester City.
Manchester City have emerged as serious contenders to sign Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro this summer.
Pedro Porro played an instrumental role for Spurs in beating the drop on the final day of the Premier League season. His performances haven’t been great, but he managed to end the season strongly, playing 90 minutes in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Everton at home last weekend.
Under Roberto De Zerbi’s leadership, Porro managed to get back his mojo. Overall, the Spaniard managed 47 appearances, registering two goals and six assists. One of Spurs’ most consistent performers over the last few years, it is not surprising that the 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from N17. Inter Milan and Barcelona have shown an interest in signing the Spurs full-back. Now, Manchester City are exploring the option to bring Porro back to the club.
Tottenham set valuation of Pedro Porro amid interest from European clubs
According to a report from Spanish outlet Diario AS, Tottenham want to keep hold of Porro but will allow a departure if an offer of around £50 million arrives. The Lilywhites will try their best to extend the Spanish international’s contract, but so far, he is yet to accept an extension.
Porro recently poured cold water on speculation by suggesting that he still has two years left on his contract at Tottenham. The Don Benito-born star also insisted he’s not even considered a move away from White Hart Lane as his focus was entirely on helping the club achieve safety under De Zerbi.
Indeed, his contract doesn’t expire until 2028 (h/t Transfermarkt), so the North Londoners are in a strong position to ask for a premium for his services. Having been selected to the Spain squad for the World Cup, Porro’s stock will only rise further if he goes on to enjoy a strong showpiece event. In that case, the club bosses will have the potential to ask for more than £50 million.
