Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Sarr has reportedly agreed to join Galatasaray after reacting 'furiously' to the Lilywhites informing him that he is free to leave.

The Senegal international became an integral player for Ange Postecoglou's Spurs in the 2023-24 season alongside Yves Bissouma, but he failed to maintain that positive momentum and has fallen down the pecking order under Roberto De Zerbi.

The signings of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali have made Sarr surplus to requirements, and the midfielder was reportedly informed a couple of days ago that his services were no longer required.

Sarr allegedly deleted all Tottenham-related posts from his social media accounts in response to the club's stance, although his Instagram still features Spurs images as of Sunday morning.

Nevertheless, the 23-year-old is edging closer to the exit door, and journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims that he has reached an agreement on personal terms with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The Super Lig side are now working to shake hands on a fee with Tottenham, who have apparently turned down two bids from Galatasaray already, the latest in the region of £17.1m.

The Lilywhites are after a £21.4m package to let go of the former Metz man, who still has just under four years left to run on his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Everton, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Al-Ahli have also expressed an interest in signing Sarr, but Galatasaray are the firm favourites to prise the 23-year-old away from Tottenham, who stand to make a profit on the £14.5m they forked out for the midfielder in 2021.

Sarr spent the 2021-22 season back on loan with Metz before being integrated into the Spurs squad, and he has since amassed 11 goals and 11 assists in 141 matches for the Lilywhites in all tournaments.

The Senegalese lynchpin was not involved in Saturday's 3-0 Premier League defeat to Brentford, although De Zerbi stressed that his absence was due to a hamstring injury rather than being transfer-related.

Sarr experienced a disrupted pre-season with Tottenham due to his World Cup involvement with Senegal, playing twice as the African outfit progressed to the last 32.

The midfielder's first and only friendly outing came in Spurs' 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim behind closed doors on August 16, in which he completed 87 minutes and registered an assist for Luca Williams-Barnett.

De Zerbi was quizzed on Sarr's future ahead of the loss to Brentford, and the Italian refused to shut the door on the 23-year-old leaving, despite hailing him as a valued member of the squad.

"For Pape, he started pre-season late because he stayed in Senegal until the first week in August, I think," De Zerbi told a press conference. "He’s a good player. I don’t know if he stays or not we have to analyse the situation, but he is another very very important player."
