Tottenham Hotspur have a very talented young midfield, and although Thomas Frank has been frustratingly unable to trust them - let alone get the most out of the crew in the early going as manager - he has finally started to come round and shown signs of handing the keys over to them as opposed to Bentinha (Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha).

Out of the talented quartet of Xavi Simons, Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray, it is the marquee summer 2024 signing from Leeds United who has turned Tottenham fans' heads the most in the 2025/26 campaign with his composure, bravery, and ball progression - in stark contrast to Bentancur's cowardly and plodding ways that have led to a proneness to being overrun.

Spurs supporters are dreaming of one more No. 6 or 8 to work with Gray at the base of the midfield. Before, Tottenham fans were mostly looking at an anchoring 6 like Adam Wharton to work with Bergvall, but seeing how special of a talent Gray is, there are some fans who view another top 8 as the ideal partner so that Gray can have the full keys to the kingdom.

Tottenham can make Manchester United pay

In a recent report from the Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler, disgruntled Manchester United defensive midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has apparently reached a "breaking point" with his current club and is now open to a permanent transfer solution away from Old Trafford. He appears to believe he has "no future" at Man United so long as Ruben Amorim is manager.

It is a situation that has been brewing for months. Amorim has benched Mainoo indefinitely and given the England international recourse of getting consistent games, even though Mainoo is very obviously a starting caliber player on this poor Man United midfield and was a huge reason why they were able to salvage something respectable out of the 2023/24 campaign.

Tottenham have been loosely linked to Mainoo in the past, and although most signs are pointing to another Napoli coup of a disrespected Manchester United star, Spurs could very easily change that equation with a well placed call.

Mainoo has his flaws, but he is such a great athlete and has the intelligence to know when to get into the box and score. He has real end product about him, and for all the praise Scott McTominay is getting in Naples, Mainoo is that kind of player and then some. Spurs need more great athletes, and Mainoo has both the body and the mind of a future England superstar.
