Ederson is set to sign a contract, but not at Man Utd after they pulled the plug on a deal with Atalanta and have set their sights on Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans to bolster their midfield. Andrey Santos has been confirmed as their first summer signing. Chelsea, meanwhile, are set to officially unveil Xabi Alonso amid working on deals for Pep Chavarria and Maxence Lacroix.

Chelsea talks for Chavarria continue
Chelsea remain in talks to sign Pep Chavarria.
The Spanish left-back has emerged as a surprise option to help new Blues boss Xabi Alonso to cover the £51.7m departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid after the World Cup.
Chelsea’s interest in Chavarria comes after a fine season with LaLiga outfit Rayo Vallecano in which he helped them to reach the Conference League final against Crystal Palace.
They have already seen one £9m offer for his services rebuffed, with football365 carrying reports that they have now tabled a fresh approach worth in the region of £15m.
Fabrizio Romano reports that talks remain ongoing.

Spurs still keen on Leao
Tottenham are interested in Rafael Leao.
The Portuguese forward looks almost certain to leave AC Milan this summer despite the arrival of compatriot Ruben Amorim as manager, with a move likely to be finalised after the conclusion of Portugal’s World Cup campaign.
Leao is said to have interest from several clubs in Saudi Arabia and Europe, with Barcelona reported in Spain to be preparing a loan offer for the player that would be similar to the one they completed for Marcus Rashford last summer.
However, TEAMtalk suggest that Tottenham are also preparing a blockbuster swoop for Leao as an alternative to Manchester City’s Savinho after being told that he would be open to joining them and is keen on the Premier League.
Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be interested in Leao after being approached by his camp.

PSG in Barcola U-turn
Paris Saint-Germain are now ready to let Bradley Barcola leave this summer amid links to Arsenal and Liverpool.
Previously, the Champions League winners' stance was to keep hold of the Frenchman, going as far to slap a price tag of around £128million on his head.
However, the Independent now suggests that PSG have changed their mind on allowing Barcola to leave.

Tottenham are working on a deal for Eli Kroupi Jr after the Bournemouth striker reportedly rejected the chance to join PSG.

Why Djed Spence's impressive World Cup may not be good for Tottenham
Thomas Tuchel has said that this World Cup will be won in moments, and while Bellingham and Harry Kane have provided crucial reminders of their world-class talents in the final third, it is Tottenham full-back Djed Spence who the head coach has consistently turned to when looking to close out games.
Spence’s energy and pace off the bench have reinvigorated England, while his versatility gives Tuchel options.
It was from right-back that Spence’s deep runs beyond the last line of attack helped create the opening from which Marcus Rashford sealed a 4-2 win in their opening game against Croatia.

Confirmed: Andrey Santos joined United in £50m deal
Manchester United have just confirmed the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea in a deal worth a reported £50m.
He joins from Chelsea, who he signed for in 2023 from Brazilian side Vasco de Gama. He made only 27 league appearances for the Blues and spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest, who he only made one league appearance for.
Santos bolsters United’s midfield options after the departure of Casemiro and long-term injury of Manuel Ugarte left them short in that area.
Man United could revive Ederson deal
Despite Youri Tielemans’ and Andrey Santos’ imminent signings for Manchester United, the Red Devils may consider trying for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
The Brazil international was rumoured to be close to joining in June, but after joining up with the Selecao as a late call-up, the move was delayed.
Then, the deal was reported to be dead-in-the-water, with rumours of problems with his medical swirling.
Tielemans and Santos’ arrivals appeared to permanently shut down that move for Ederson, but Sky Sports News now report the club may revisit his signing later in the window.
