Manchester United continue to invest heavily in the future while strengthening Michael Carrick’s senior squad ahead of the new campaign.

The club have already made several first-team additions this summer, but recruitment behind the scenes has been just as important as INEOS look to build long-term success.

United’s academy remains one of the club’s biggest priorities, with promising young talent constantly being monitored across England and Europe.

After losing transfer battles to Tottenham Hotspur for both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali earlier in the window, the Red Devils now appear ready to strike back.

This time, the target is one of Spurs’ brightest young prospects.

Manchester United moving quickly to sign Tynan Thompson

Manchester United are pushing to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Tynan Thompson, with plans already in place to complete a medical before finalising the move, as the Secret Scout reported on X.

The Red Devils only became aware of the opportunity last week but have wasted little time in attempting to get a deal over the line, hoping to move ahead of the competition.

German side Hamburg are also interested in the highly-rated teenager, although United are understood to be determined to complete the transfer as quickly as possible.

Tynan Thompson, who primarily operates from the left wing, enjoyed an impressive campaign for Tottenham’s Under-18 side last season.

The 18-year-old finished the campaign with an eye-catching return of 13 goals and 6 assists in just 26 appearances, underlining why several clubs have begun tracking his development.

United believe the winger has the potential to become another exciting addition to their youth system as they continue strengthening the academy alongside improvements to the first-team squad.

Should the move be completed, it would also represent a small victory over Tottenham after Manchester United missed out on signing both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali earlier in the transfer window.

Instead of landing one of Spurs’ senior targets, United now look set to prise one of the North London club’s most promising young attackers away before he has the chance to break into their first team.
