Tottenham are planning to cash in on Son Heung-min before big-money squad overhaul
It looks like Son Heung-min has played his final game in Tottenham Hotspur colours.
The South Korean forward has been a mainstay for Spurs since from Bayer Leverkusen back in the summer of 2015. He has managed to maintain huge levels consistency in the Premier League for year after year until this past season, where the 32-year-old’s form showed signs of decline.
The Tottenham skipper also suffered some injury problems that hampered his rhythm, and while he recovered ahead of the Europa League final, Ange Postecoglou named him on the bench. Lifting the Europa League could now prove to be his final action for Spurs, as Daniel Levy has already kicked off his summer transfer plans.
According to an exclusive report from The Telegraph, Son could depart the North Londoners this summer as the club looks to bolster their summer transfer budget and fund a squad overhaul. Clubs from Saudi Pro League are interested in a deal for veteran forward.
Recent reports suggested that the Saudi Arabian clubs had revived their interest in the Tottenham skipper. The cash-rich Saudi Pro League chiefs view him as a bankable world star that could boost the league’s growth in Asia and beyond. There is now an opportunity for the Lilywhites to generate a fee for Son, whose contract expires in 2026 (Transfermarkt) after the club had triggered a one-year extension in January.
Arguably the best Spurs signing of the modern era, the South Korean international has become one of the biggest names in the Premier League. He has achieved a legendary status at White Hart Lane, playing 454 games across 10 seasons and scoring 173 goals. The forward has been the club’s captain since 2023 after the departure of his one-time strike partner Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

It has felt at times that the South Asian ace had reached the end of his time at N17 after a frustrating previous campaign, even though he delivered 20+ goal contributions. With Son set to turn 33 in July and the club expected to compound on their policy of investing in young, exciting talent with high potential this summer, the time is indeed right for Tottenham to part ways with our skipper.
All in all, if he is sold this summer, Son will leave as one of the great Spurs players of the last two decades. The No.7’s future may be on hold for now, though, as the club are yet to make a decision on coach Ange Postecoglou.
