The Netherlands international became our fourth signing of the summer on Thursday and will join the squad on the 1 July, 2026, following the expiration of her contract with Arsenal.
Arriving in England midway through the 2022/23 campaign, after a spell in her homeland with Ajax, the box-to-box midfielder has become an experienced head in the Women’s Super League, making 56 appearances in total across three-and-a-half seasons in the competition.
Deciding to continue in England’s top flight, the 27-year-old felt the move to Lilywhite was the next step of her journey after discussions with Martin and seeing the growth on the pitch over the last 12 months.
“It feels nice to be here,” Vic told us, speaking as a Spurs player for the first time. “I got a lovely welcome off everyone. When I did my medical, it already felt really real but now when I'm in the kit, it feels unreal.
“When I had a conversation with him [Martin], he was so good. It felt immediately right to go to Spurs. Then I knew they were going to invest a lot and you can even see that in the [new] signings.
“It was actually an easy option, to be honest. I think we, as Spurs, want to compete for Champions League, and that's a goal. Then from there on, we will see.
Changing environments can be a daunting experience, but there’s some familiar faces that she will team up with once again at Spurs – goalkeeper Lize Kop and fellow summer signing Caitlin Dijkstra.
The trio go back a long way having played together at Ajax for a number of seasons and then in the senior Netherlands national squad – and Vic is excited to be back together with them at club level.
“We played all three together in Ajax, actually, and they're my close friends, like, really close friends. I lived together with Caitlin and we’ve known each other for such a long time,” she added.
“When she told her dad, who is a massive football fan and he knows me as well, he was so happy. It just felt good to come together here.”
We know what we can expect to see from Pelova having witnessed her development in the WSL, her willingness to get on the ball and drive forward from midfield, and all these attributes come from idolising a former Spurs and Ajax man when she was growing up.
“Christian Eriksen, I was a big fan of him at Ajax,” Vic explained, when asked about her role model. “He was so good. The assists, the everything. He's such a hard worker and he's humble. I just really like as well how he is as a player.
“My favourite things are giving assists, make the play go quicker or to go slower, and to know when to do that. The biggest thing I want to improve on is scoring goals.”
