West Ham have been given a second chance at Premier League survival following Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Tottenham.
The Hammers would have been relegated to the Championship if Spurs had earned just a point at Stamford Bridge.
Instead, the relegation battle will be decided on the final day as West Ham play Leeds and Tottenham host David Moyes’ Everton.
Even though Spurs are favourites to win, James Maddison’s latest comments suggest they are already feeling the pressure.

James Maddison labels Tottenham situation ‘embarrassing’ as West Ham watch on
Maddison was understandably disappointed after Tottenham’s defeat to Chelsea, but his brutal verdict did not go unnoticed.
The Englishman described Spurs’ predicament as “unacceptable” and “embarrassing” in his interview with Sky Sports.
Maddison said, “It’s unacceptable and a little bit embarrassing that we’re in this position at Tottenham Hotspur, but it’s the reality, unfortunately. It’s up to us to get out of it, and Sunday is going to be a big day.

“We need to repay [the fans] with a performance and some points on Sunday to secure Premier League survival. It’s non-negotiable, we have to [survive] for this club.”
Most Premier League fans would agree with his assessment, as Tottenham are expected to challenge for the European places.
However, it is unusual for a player to be so brutally honest with the media immediately after a game.
Maddison’s verdict suggests the Tottenham players are fully aware of how shocking it would be for them to be relegated.
This will only make them feel less relaxed in front of 60,000 nervous spectators when they play Everton on Sunday.

On the contrary, West Ham will head into their match against Leeds with nothing to lose, as they have already been handed a lifeline.
It would not be at all surprising to see Spurs attempt to hold on to a draw, which would be a risky game to play.
All West Ham fans can hope for is that Moyes does his former club another favour two years after his departure.
