Crystal Palace are hosting an open training session today ahead of the south London outfit’s Europa Conference League fixture against Fredrikstad on Thursday evening.

The Eagles had earned the right to compete in the Europa League this season thanks to their FA Cup victory last term but were demoted to the Conference League after a high-profile case and appeal surrounding club ownership rules.

Oliver Glasner’s side host the Norwegian side under the lights at Selhurst Park tomorrow night but the fixture will take place to the backdrop of transfer talk. The futures of Crystal Palace stars Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton are currently subject to speculation.

Crystal Palace midfielders subject of transfer talk

There have been wide reports of Tottenham Hotspur interest in Eze with the 27-year-old at one point expected to be excluded from the matchday squad to take on Chelsea last weekend. The attacking midfielder did feature in the match and was named in the starting XI.

Eze was substituted in the 84th minute at Stamford Bridge and appeared to share an emotional moment with the travelling Eagles supporters after the match. In the latest on his future, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano wrote on Tuesday: “Negotiations for Eberechi Eze to Spurs are again underway today after £55m plus £5m proposal yesterday. Daniel Levy and Steve Parish, in direct contact to seal the agreement.”

Meanwhile, Wharton has been linked with a possible move to Manchester United. The defensive midfielder, who joined Crystal Palace for £22 million in February 2024, is said to be a transfer target for the Red Devils according to talkSPORT.

Ruben Amorim’s side had been targeting Brighton star Carlos Baleba but have had the door slammed shut on that deal amid a £115 million asking price. As a result, it’s claimed that Wharton could be the next priority with Liverpool also named as ‘long-term admirers’.

Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton interact with Sky Sports cameras

Sky Sports have cameras as the Crystal Palace training session today and both Eze and Wharton were caught reacting to coverage as they were put through the paces. Speaking to reporter Gary Cotterill from the studio, the programme’s anchor said: “Gary Cotterill is in arm’s length of Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton, you can ask him about his future, Gary, while he’s there!”

Replying at training, Cotterill replied: “I’m not going to ask Adam Wharton about his future, no.”

Eze and Wharton were stood alongside each other at the time with the former trying hard not to have his attention caught by the coverage. He did eventually have his head turned and he cast a side-eye to the camera before a wry smile in acknowledgement to the speculation around his future.

Meanwhile, Wharton, who heard his name said by Cotterill, also turned to the camera before looking to pat the Crystal Palace badge on his training gear. The action appeared to be the defensive midfielder confirming his commitment to the Eagles in a potential blow for Manchester United.

In other news, Arsenal are making a mistake by offering new contract in wake of Eberechi Eze failure.
