Tottenham Hotspur could look to replace any void left by Yves Bissouma this summer with a move for Brentford star Yehor Yarmolyuk.

It's a summer of change in north London with Ange Postecoglou sacked and Brentford boss Thomas Frank expected to take the host seat. The Aussie's dismissal is not believed to have done down well with several of the first team squad.

Postecoglou led Spurs to a historic Europa League win last season and was sent messages of thanks from players when it was announced that he would be leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The manager had shared his desire to stay for a third season during the club's trophy parade.

Yves Bissouma disheartened by Ange Postecoglou departure

One of the most heartfelt messages came from Bissouma, who hinted at a secret last conversation with Postecoglou before he was sacked. The 28-year-old has been with the club since 2022, having signed from Brighton for £30 million.

He was a prominent figure under Postecoglou but Football Insider have now cited Paul Robinson in a report that the club would be listening to offers for the unsettled box-to-box midfielder.

Should Bissouma move, CaughtOffside claim that Spurs have a new midfield target in Yarmolyuk. Those links gathering pace with Frank expected to make the switch across London.

The Ukrainian is a player Frank knows and loves. The 21-year-old made 31 Premier League appearances last season and was particularly impressive in the 4-2 win over Newcastle United in December.

After that match, a video of Frank's half time team talk was shared online. In that clip, the manager praised Yarmolyuk in front of his colleagues, saying 'What a player guys' before a round of applause.

Brentford want £25m for Tottenham Hotspur target

CaughtOffside claim that Brentford have put a £25 million price tag on the player but are prioritising keeping the rising star, who is still contracted until 2031.

The article adds that an unnamed Premier League club and a La Liga outfit have inquired about the midfielder. Burnley, Leeds United and Everton are said to be interested alongside Spurs with Borussia Dortmund and Napoli also said to be monitoring the Bees' man. None of those clubs are believed to have made a formal approach yet.

Yarmolyuk coincidentally gave an in depth interview to the Brentford club website prior to the match against Tottenham Hotspur in January. In that talk, he opened up on moving to the UK and the importance of Mariia Manirko, premium services executive at Brentford - it remains to be seen which staff follow Frank to Spurs but the manager is known to want to maintain some of the team that has served him so well in west London.

In that interview the player also shared an affinity for London, which could give Spurs the advantage over other suitors. Yarmolyuk said: “I didn’t speak English at all and when you can’t understand anything, it’s very tough. Language was the biggest thing but with time, it’s getting easier and easier. Mariia helped me a lot with everything from the language, to renting a flat and finding a place.

“Everyone helped me a lot. We have a friendly team who can help you in a tough moment as well as when it’s good. Now, I’m happy that I moved but it was a big step in my life. For me, it’s a second home. I feel like I’m at home now, and it also feels more like home because we have a lot of Ukrainians here [in London].”
