Archie Gray has earned the respect of Tottenham Hotspur supporters over the past couple of years.
The youngster moved to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in July 2024, with Spurs paying around £30million to Leeds United for the then teenager.
Since then, Gray has always shown himself willing to put his team's needs above his own.
Most at home in central midfield, the 20-year-old has played much of his Spurs career at right-back and also filled in at centre-back when needed.
Moreover, Gray always gives everything for the team, and leaves everything out on the pitch, even when things might not be going well on the field.
And certainly he has caught the eye of former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, who waxed lyrical over Gray.
Why Harry Redknapp loves Tottenham gem Archie Gray
Gray has had to once again show his versatility under Roberto De Zerbi this season.
With Spain World Cup winner Pedro Porro having initially returned late after his summer exploits with this country, then had time sidelined by injury, Gray has needed to slot in on right-back.
Earlier this week, Redknapp was a guest on the Overlap Daily with his son Jamie and another former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood.
Redknapp was asked which players in the current squad he enjoys watching with the likes of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes suggested.
The former Spurs boss said: "I like the boy Gray, it's just been incredible really what he's done since he's been there.
"Played every position right-back, centre-half. They've even made him captain at one time this year."
And yet, harsh as it may seem, he probably shouldn't start against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Why Archie Gray shoudn't start for Tottenham vs Palace
It may seem harsh to suggest dropping Gray, especially given Spurs as a package were so impressive in beating Chelsea 2-0 last weekend.
Porro returned for the final 25 minutes of that game, replacing Gray, and he looks a good fit to start this game.
The simple reason being that tactically, Porro could be a better fit against the struggling Eagles.
No team has conceded more than the 19 goals shipped by Pierre Sage's side in the top flight this term.
Palace still utilise a three-person defence with wing-backs, and on a pitch as big as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Porro's pace could be really important at exploiting any gaps left.
Gray always does his defensive duties, and is averaging 1.3 interceptions, 1.7 tackles, 1.3 clearances, and 3.4 balls recovered per game.
But against a leaky Palace defence, you can't help but feel that Porro might be a good attacking fit to help get Tottenham on the front foot.
Whether he is ready to complete 90 minutes or not is another discussion, so there might still be a chance for Gray to be heavily involved.
It just feels like his role might be better off the bench in this one.
