TBR Football can exclusively confirm how Nottingham Forest are feeling about how the Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham Hotspur move panned out.

Gibbs-White is on his way to Tottenham after Spurs triggered the player’s £60million release clause in a move that accelerated quickly on Thursday.

Reports say Gibbs-White’s medical is scheduled to take place on Friday as Tottenham look to strengthen their ranks further ahead of their Champions League return.

TBR Football can also reveal what Manchester City – who have also been after Gibbs-White – were looking to do in pursuit of the England international.

Nottingham Forest stunned by Morgan Gibbs-White departure as they planned for him to be focal point next season

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Forest see Morgan Gibbs-White’s imminent exit as a “real blow”.

They are frustrated by how things have panned out over the Gibbs-White move because he was to be their focal point next season.

“I am told Forest are frustrated with how this has played out, they never denied a clause but they never confirmed it,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“Forest lost Elanga but they thought that was a good deal.

“This one just frustrates them as they were really planning him to be the focal point of their side next season. It is a real blow to them.

“The player’s agents have been talking to other clubs and Spurs have made their move.

“Spurs have a very close relationship to Gibbs-White’s agents and that has clearly helped them get a deal done.

“They made their move and it was quick.”

Why most other clubs did not move for Morgan Gibbs-White

Bailey confirmed that Gibbs-White was intent on joining Tottenham despite interest from Man City.

Indeed, the Citizens were ready to match any deal for Gibbs-White, and other clubs were in talks, but Gibbs-White’s stance led to Spurs winning the race.

“There were multiple clubs in talks – but Morgan Gibbs-White made it clear he wanted Tottenham,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“Man City were ready to match any deal, but player wants Spurs. That’s also why other clubs did not step up.”
