Luca Williams-Barnett has won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for September.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has been in excellent form so far this term.
He scored his first hat-trick at Under-21 level in a stunning 6-3 victory at Leicester City on 19 September, also providing an assist in that game, before delivering the corner from which Dane Scarlett set up Jun’ai Byfield to score the winning goal in a 1-0 home triumph over West Bromwich Albion a week later.
Luca also made his first team debut in our Carabao Cup win over Doncaster Rovers on 24 September.
All of this comes despite his tender age – having only turned 17 at the start of October, he’s part of our first-year Under-18s group this term.
He was chosen by the Premier League Football Development Panel as the winner of the latest Premier League 2 Player of the Month prize.
Under-21s team-mate Rio Kyerematen was also shortlisted for the award, along with Aaron Loupalo-Bi and Farhaan Ali-Wahid of Fulham, Joe Belmont of Brighton & Hove Albion, Andre Harriman-Annous of Arsenal, Tudor Mendel-Idowu of Ipswich Town and Romeo Akachukwu of Southampton.
Congratulations, Luca!
