Young forwards Lenna Gunning-Williams and Matilda Nilden enjoyed a positive start to March international camp with their respective nations on Monday.

Starting with Lenna, our Academy graduate stepped off the bench in the second half as England Under-23s ran out 1-0 winners over France in Clairefontaine.

The 22-year-old was introduced just after the hour mark as Lexi Lloyd-Smith’s first half strike was enough to secure a win for the Young Lionesses. Lauren Smith’s side are next in action on Friday (6 March) as they welcome the Netherlands to Shrewsbury Town (7pm UK).

Matilda, meanwhile, started for Sweden Under-23s as they recorded a 3-1 win over Belgium on Monday evening.

Starting on the left of the front three, the young Swede was inches away from opening the deadlock in the contest in the early stages as her curling effort from the far left of the box struck the underside of the crossbar.

The 21-year-old went on to complete 77 minutes for her nation as late goals from Wilma Leidhammar and Julia Ragnarsson earned Sweden the win on the night, after Ellen Wangerheim’s first half goal had been cancelled out by Lisa Petry.

Sweden Under-23s are also back in action on Friday afternoon, this time taking on Romania in an international friendly (1pm UK).
