Wolves will be in the market for new forwards this summer, but Vitor Pereira and Molineux recruitment officials have been warned of a potential problem.

Wolves managed to secure their safety a number of weeks ago, which was a major relief for everyone concerned with the football club.

In the end, Vitor Pereira kept Wolves up with ease.

While the challenges from the sides that have been relegated weren’t great, Pereira still deserves tremendous credit for the job he’s done so far.

Wolves will be in the market for several new players this summer, and it’s thought a new centre-forward could be on the agenda.

Fabio Silva is expected to depart permanently, and Sasa Kalajdzic could end up leaving on loan as he bids to come back from the third serious knee injury of his career.

But for Dave Edwards, Wolves face a potential issue.

Wolves face Harry Kane problem after superb Jorgen Strand Larsen season

Jorgen Strand Larsen has enjoyed a fantastic first season at Molineux.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

After signing on an initial loan from Celta Vigo, the Norway international has bagged 14 goals in the Premier League, which is the most by any Wolves player ever in a debut Premier League season.

Strand Larsen’s latest strike against Crystal Palace saw him surpass Raul Jimenez, and fans have loved what he’s brought to the table this season.

Wolves could look to sign a new striker this summer as back-up for Strand Larsen, but Dave Edwards reckons this will be difficult, likening the number nine’s standing at Molineux to Harry Kane’s at Tottenham Hotspur when he played there.

He said on the Wolves Official Podcast: “This is difficult. You look at the old Tottenham situation with Harry Kane. Who’s going to want to come and play and sign as a striker when Harry Kane is going to play every week. I feel like we’ve got that to some degree with Strand Larsen.

“We played decent money for him and he’s scored a lot of goals and he’s getting better and better with every single game.

“I think it’s going to be a player which can fill different positions. I think it has to be an imposing figure that can deal with centre-backs in the Premier League and can compete in the air, but maybe someone who is athletically gifted in terms of being able to run the channels, good movement, and then ultimately can play as a number 10 as well.

“Then you’ve got a player who can do a bit of everything. If you’re just going to be Strand Larsen’s understudy then it’s difficult.”

Strand Larsen is brilliant, but competition will be healthy for Wolves

Edwards makes an interesting point about Wolves’ striker situation.

Strand Larsen has done so well in his first season at Wolves and does look to be a player who is improving all the time.

It may well make sense for Wolves to try and target someone who can play up top and also off a main striker – that way, the player coming in still has a lot of opportunities to play.

We shall see what the recruitment team serve up this summer.

Hopefully, the work has already started and Wolves have some targets in mind.
