Luka Vušković is set to arrive at Tottenham Hotspur, two years after Spurs agreed a deal with Hajduk Split.

The centre-back turned 18 years of age in February and the Premier League club had to wait until then to bring him to the UK. Tottenham can now register him for the new season.

Vušković spent the last 18 months on loan at Radomiak Radom and KVC Westerlo and starred for the Belgian club. His brother, Mario, has been at Hamburg SV since 2022 and didn’t feature last season due to a doping ban.

Hamburger Abendblatt, a newspaper local to the German club, spoke to Mario about several topics, including the Tottenham player.

Two months ago, Hamburg sealed a 6-1 win over SSV Ulm 1846 in the penultimate league fixture of last season. The win at the Volksparkstadion, their home stadium, helped the German club return to the Bundesliga for the first time in seven years.

After the final whistle against SSV Ulm, the Tottenham defender and his father were seen celebrating with Mario at the Volksparkstadion. Hamburger Abendblatt asked the 23-year-old about this.

He said: “When the final whistle blew, my father, my brother, and I immediately went on the pitch. The pitch was already packed with happy fans.

“The whole evening was a crazy experience. We went to the Nikki Tiger (a Hamburg nightclub) with the team, and I was back at the hotel by 5am. I’ll never forget the feelings from that night. It was truly perfect.”

The newspaper asked him whether there’s a chance Tottenham could send his brother on loan to Hamburg.

Responding to that, Mario explained: “Luka loves HSV simply because the club and the fans always support me.

“When he witnessed the promotion party at the Volksparkstadion, he was impressed by how big the club is and how incredible the fans are. He would love to play for HSV and wouldn’t say no to an offer. In the end, however, Tottenham will decide what is best for his development.”
