Ange Postecoglou is speaking to the media following Tottenham's 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Following the 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday evening, the Spurs boss handed Mikey Moore his full Premier League debut after a dazzling display against the Eredivisie side last time out.

It was Palace who started the better of the teams and they had a great chance to open the scoring through Maxence Lacroix's header.

The hosts did open the scoring on 31 minutes as Jean-Phillipe Mateta blasted home at the near post after some poor defensively play from the Lilywhites.

Spurs did go close to equalising on a couple of occasions towards the end of the first half, with Brennan Johnson striking the post and Dean Henderson producing a good reflex save to deny James Maddison.

The visitors couldn't force Henderson into any real saves in the second half as Palace looked the side most likely to add to their solitary goal.

Our Spurs correspondent Rob Guest is at Selhurst Park and is among those putting the questions to the head coach. Scroll down for the latest updates from the press conference.

Moore quiet, Kulusevski and two players poor in loss

Tottenham failed to close in on the top four after slipping to a 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. Fresh from their 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday evening, Ange Postecoglou reverted back to his preferred Premier League XI for the game at Selhurst Park.

The main talking point in regards to the team was the head coach's decision to throw Mikey Moore in for his full Premier League debut after wowing in midweek against AZ. Son Heung-min missed out on the squad through injury for the second game on the trot, with Wilson Odobert also not included for the trip across the capital.

Palace shaded the opening stages of the game and almost went ahead but Maxence Lacroix headed over from close range from substitute Will Hughes' cross. The hosts did take the lead on 31 minutes as Jean-Philippe Mateta was in the right place at the back post to convert after Eberechi Eze's clever flick had taken out Cristian Romero and Pedro Porro.

Tottenham almost responded instantly but Micky van de Ven's low drive inside the box deflected off Brennan Johnson and came back off the post. Oliver Glasner's men did have Dean Henderson to thank on the stroke of half-time after a brilliant one-handed save to keep out James Maddison's effort.

Tottenham did get away with one early in the second half as Eze had a goal chalked off for offside as Palace pushed on in their quest to try and kill the game off. The visitors did push on for an equaliser but they just never really troubled the Eagles, who went close to making it 2-0 in the closing stages following Adam Wharton's powerful drive that Guglielmo Vicario kept out.

Here's how we rated the players in the game at Selhurst Park:

Guglielmo Vicario

Couldn't stop Mateta scoring at his near post and a tad lucky to get away with one at the start of the second half as Eze's shot squirmed under his body and went in but was ruled out for offside. Made a really good save late on to keep out Wharton's powerful drive. 6

Pedro Porro

Was taken out of the game by Eze's clever flick for the opening goal. Struggled defensively at times over the course of the game. 4

Cristian Romero

Made a good interception in the opening 20 minutes as Palace looked to pick out Mateta in the box. As was the case with Porro, he was taken out of the game for the Frenchman's strike following Eze's flick. 5

Micky van de Ven

His pass to Destiny Udogie was cut out by Daniel Munoz and it led to Mateta's opening goal. Palace wanted a penalty early in the second half when Eze went down following challenges from the Dutchman and Dejan Kulusevski. 4

Destiny Udogie

Teed Maddison up for a chance before half-time with a clever cross. Looked to attack when given the opportunity but sloppy with his play at times. 5

Yves Bissouma

Had his work cut out against Palace's midfield as they made life very difficult for the visitors. Decent shift in the middle of the park considering he was swamped at times. 6

Dejan Kulusevski

The intricate bits of play just didn't come off for the Swede with Palace causing problems in the middle of the park. Had a shot saved at the beginning of the second half but was replaced on 62 minutes. 4

James Maddison

Named in the team ahead of Pape Matar Sarr and received a knock to the back early on following Lacroix's challenge. Wasn't far off netting an equaliser with Henderson saving one-handed on the stroke of half-time. Replaced by Sarr just past the hour mark. 5

Brennan Johnson

Almost scored an equaliser but knew very little about it with Van de Ven's powerful shot in the box just striking him and then hitting the post. Supplied Kulusevski for a chance early in the second half and had a few positive runs but nothing really came off. 5

Dominic Solanke

Worked hard and made some key headers in his own box but next to nothing fell his way in the Palace box. 6

Mikey Moore

Handed his full Premier League debut after wowing in midweek against AZ. Brought down by Wharton with his first real run at the Palace backline but didn't have too many opportunities to run after that. Positive when on the ball and played in Udogie for Maddison's chance at the end of the first half. 5

Substitutes

Richarlison (James Maddison, 62)

Pushed up top with Solanke but little fell his way. 5

Pape Matar Sarr (Dejan Kulusevski, 62)

Came on to help Tottenham in the midfield battle and added some much-needed energy. 6

Timo Werner (Mikey Moore, 62)

Didn't have an impact on proceedings following his introduction on the left-wing for the closing 30 minutes. 5

Rodrigo Bentancur (Yves Bissouma, 87)

Entered the fray with minutes remaining. N/A

Description

Ange Postecoglou has named Mikey Moore in his Tottenham team to take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. In action on Thursday night against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, Spurs were victorious once again after securing a 1-0 win courtesy of Richarlison's second-half penalty.

Heavily rotating his team in Europe and giving his first-team regulars a well-earned breather, the Australian has reverted to his preferred Premier League XI for the game at Selhurst Park. Spurs go into the game in a really good run of form and another three points will see them close in on the top four.

As expected, Guglielmo Vicario returns in goal despite Fraser Forster's impressive display in the win over AZ Alkmaar. Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie then make up the back four.

In the middle of the park, Postecoglou has opted for Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison as his midfield trio. Pape Matar Sarr delivered a fine performance in the second half of last Saturday's win over West Ham but Maddison has been preferred to him in the team.

With Son Heung-min still not right and missing out on the squad for the second game on the trot through injury, Postecoglou has selected Moore as his option on the left-wing rather than Timo Werner. Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson then join Moore in the front three.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Postecoglou admitted he is expecting a tough challenge from Crystal Palace despite their poor start to the campaign.

"It’s always dangerous in the Premier League," he explained. "You just mentioned the Brighton game, and there’s never a game when you go in thinking it’s going to be a comfortable afternoon or evening. Especially away from home, the Premier League is always challenging.

"As you said, they’re going through a tough spell. I have no doubt they’ll get out of it because they do have some quality in the front third and they’re a hard working team. I think for us what’s important is that we’re on a good run, we’ve been on a good run for a while, and we want to continue that. And the basis of that good run is how and we’re working and sticking to our principles."

Here is the Tottenham team Postecoglou has selected to take on Crystal Palace:

Confirmed Tottenham XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Kulusevski, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Moore.

Substitutes: Forster, Davies, Gray, Dragusin, Bentancur, Sarr, Bergvall, Werner, Richarlison.

Tottenham have the opportunity to make it eight wins from nine games when they return to Premier League action on Sunday. Fresh from Thursday's 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, Spurs make the trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

Tottenham have won their past couple of visits to Selhurst Park and the hope will be that they can make it three wins on the spin in SE25. It does appear that Ange Postecoglou's men will have to do it without Son Heung-min, who is likely to be missing through injury.

That in turn leaves Postecoglou with a big call to make over the Spurs captain's replacement on the left-wing. Supporters will undoubtedly be calling for Mikey Moore to get the nod from the beginning after such an exhilarating performance against AZ in midweek.

Postecoglou does want to be careful with the 17-year-old, though, and that could possibly result in the academy ace starting the game from the bench. Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert are other options to start in the front three, while Richarlison is also more than capable of playing from the left if required.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham predicted as thrilling Premier League encounter unfolds

Tottenham will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce across all competitions this weekend when they take on London rivals Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Heung-Min Son marked his return from injury with a goal in Spurs' last Premier League outing, with Ange Postecoglou's side beating West Ham 4-1 last time out. A 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar continued Spurs' winning start to the Europa League campaign midweek, and next up for the Lilywhites is a trip to south London to face Crystal Palace.

Postecoglou has confirmed that Son is unlikely to feature in the clash at Selhurst Park later today, but his injury isn't thought to be serious. Spurs have a good record against Palace in recent years, winning their last five meetings with the Eagles.

So, can Spurs pick up another three points later today? Let's take a look.

We simulated Crystal Palace vs Spurs to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the Eagles could set up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Henderson; Chalobah, Guehi, Lacroix; Munoz, Wharton, Lerma, Mitchell; Eze; Nketiah, Mateta.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Kulusevski, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Werner.

Tottenham were under the cosh in the first half, with Palace looking lively as they hunted for their first league win of the season. They almost took the lead in the 35th minute when Eberechi Eze attempted an audacious shot from 35 yards out, but his shot rattled the crossbar, with Guglielmo Vicario well beaten.

After a quiet first half, Spurs started to gain control after the restart, and they almost took the lead when Dominic Solanke met Pedro Porro's cross with an acrobatic effort, but his overhead kick was pushed wide of goal by the 'keeper. The pressure continued as the game went on, and in the 74th minute, the deadlock was finally broken.

James Maddison baited Adam Wharton into a challenge before skipping past the midfielder and towards the Palace box. The Englishman picked out the run of Timo Werner with a smart flick, and the German lashed his shot into the top corner, leaving Dean Henderson with no chance.

With a narrow lead, Spurs started to play a bit more defensively to try and hold out the lead, but the pressure was relieved in the 89th minute when substitute Mikey Moore was brought down in the box for a penalty. Solanke stepped up to take, and the striker fired his shot into the roof of the net, confirming the three points.

EA FC 25 predicted final score: Crystal Palace 0-2 Spurs

Tottenham quartet earning their spurs in Europa League under Postecoglou

Mikey Moore's performance against AZ Alkmaar drew comparisons to Neymar from Tottenham Hotspur teammate James Maddison. However, he is merely one of many talented teenagers impressing in the Europa League for Spurs this season.

Moore, 17, was one of four teenagers who started in Budapest against Ferencvaros last month. The quartet is now known as 'Ange's Angels', a label that has yet to catch on with Ange Postecoglou.

He did, though, start Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall again alongside Moore for the AZ game, and Will Lankshear was also part of the matchday squad despite ultimately being an unused substitute. Here is a look at the four players and their start to life in the Tottenham senior side this season.

Mikey Moore

The youngest of the group has been well-known in the Spurs academy for some time now. Despite receiving interest from numerous clubs, the Southwark-born player signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday in August, having made his debut against Manchester City months prior.

After a strong pre-season, he impressed when he made his full debut in Hungary last month. Moore has now followed that up by earning praise from Maddison for his second-half performance against AZ.

Archie Gray

Despite being only 18, Gray is the group veteran, having been almost ever-present for Leeds United in the Championship last season. That led to this summer's £40million switch to Spurs and footballing royalty in his bloodline, including great uncle Eddie Gray and grandad Frank Gray; the player has quickly earned Postecoglou's trust.

His versatility has also been an asset to the team. During his first few months in North London, he played right-back, centre-back, left-back and central midfield.

Lucas Bergvall

An 18-year-old with blonde hair, a cheeky grin, and a magical right foot, Bergvall has quickly drawn comparisons to a young David Beckham. However, the Swedish international could have ended up at Barcelona rather than Tottenham, as the Catalan club competed with Spurs when they signed him earlier this year.

Eventually, Dejan Kulusevski convinced his compatriot to choose North London over the northeastern coast of Spain. But not before Bergvall received a hero's send-off from his former club, Djurgarden, this summer.

Will Lankshear

Lankshear, 19, has taken a similar path to Spurs as Harry Kane did after previously being on Arsenal's books. Spurs signed the striker from Sheffield United two years ago, and he fired Tottenham's under-21s to Premier League 2 success last season.

Lankshear has developed significantly this summer. In pre-season, he earned a substitute appearance against Bayern Munich and came on at the same time as Kane, who graciously acknowledged his former teammate on the touchline.

Maddison wows and three more excellent as Werner poor

Tottenham made it three wins from three in the Europa League following a 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday evening. Ange Postecoglou once again made a host of changes for Spurs' return to Europe, with Destiny Udogie and James Maddison the only two players to retain their place in the side that beat West Ham last Saturday.

Mikey Moore was one of those to come into the team and players such as Fraser Forster, Ben Davies and Richarlison were also handed some much-needed minutes. Moore was inches away from opening the scoring five minutes into the contest after narrowly heading wide Timo Werner's inviting cross.

Werner was to have a chance of his own 20 minutes later but his attempt lacked conviction after Lucas Bergvall had set him free with a stunning pass. Tottenham then needed Forster to be at the top of his game as he produced a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Alexandre Penetra's header.

Spurs did manage to open the scoring in the 53rd minute with Richarlison converting from the penalty spot after Bergvall was fouled. The hosts created a few more opportunities after that but they couldn't grab a second goal against AZ, who were reduced to ten men in the closing minutes following David Moller Wolfe's red card.

Here's how we rated the Tottenham players in the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

Fraser Forster

Handed a rare start between the sticks and was alert on a couple of occasions in the first half to deny AZ. Firstly, he produced a brilliant one-handed from Penetra's header and then was out of his net quickly just before half-time to win the ball with AZ in a dangerous position. Made a good save from Mayckel Lahdo in the closing stages. 8

Archie Gray

Given a tough test coming up against Ernest Poku and was in a few tricky situations but coped well on the whole. Some more European experience to his name. 6

Radu Dragusin

Back in the team in Europe after serving his one-match ban and made some vital blocks when AZ looked to attack. Strong showing. 7

Ben Davies

Good performance at the back despite a lack of regular minutes of late. Another who will have really benefited from plenty of pitch time. 6

Destiny Udogie

Got forward and looked to attack at every opportunity. Always an outlet for Spurs and caused problems for the visitors. 7

Rodrigo Bentancur

Used the ball really well in the middle of the park as he looked to get Tottenham on the attack. Integral role in helping Tottenham win a penalty following a fantastic ball to release Maddison in the area and then made a vital tackle on Poku in the box when the AZ ace looked set to shoot. Very impressive on the night. 8

Lucas Bergvall

Produced a majestic pirouette on seven minutes that excited the home fans and midway inside the first half he wowed again with a sublime pass with the outside of his boot to set Werner free. Was the man to be fouled in the area for Spurs' penalty after getting on the end of Maddison's touch. 7

James Maddison

Captained the team with Cristian Romero on the bench and Son Heung-min absent altogether. Very lively start to proceedings as he made life difficult for AZ with his movement and quality on the ball and continued to wow throughout the game. Made a brilliant run to get on the end of Bentancur's pass that resulted in Spurs winning a penalty, which he allowed Richarlison to take following a debate between the duo seconds earlier. 8

Mikey Moore

Handed his full Tottenham home debut and second successive start in Europe. The youngster was inches away from opening the scoring after five minutes with his header from Werner's cross just going wide of the post. Had a few good runs in the first half and switched to the left flank at the start of the second half after Werner's exit. Immediately went on a mazy run that led to a chance for Brennan Johnson and continued to cause the visitors a host of issues after that with his positive running. Received a standing ovation when substituted in the final few minutes. 8

Richarlison

Named in the starting XI for the first time this season and worked hard to create a few openings for the hosts. Scored from the penalty spot early in the second half as he dinked the ball down the middle of the goal. Got 64 minutes in the tank and that will have done him the world of good after his recent absence through injury. 7

Timo Werner

Put in a lovely delivery from the left flank that Moore almost headed home inside the first five minutes. Really should have done better with a chance inside the box but his attempt was so tame and proved rather comfortable for Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro, before later firing wide from a tight angle not long after. Does a lot of things right in regards to his general play but it's his last action in crucial positions that is letting him down at present. Replaced at the break. 5

Substitutes

Brennan Johnson (Timo Werner, 46)

Saw a shot deflected with his first touch of the ball after a brilliant run from Moore. 6

Dominic Solanke (Richarlison, 64)

Led the line for Tottenham late on after Richarlison made way. 6

Dejan Kulusevski (Lucas Bergvall, 72)

Came on to add his quality and help Tottenham secure another win. 6

Pape Matar Sarr (James Maddison, 72)

Added some energy to midfield for the closing stages. 6

Wilson Odobert (Mikey Moore, 87)

Made his return to action in the last couple of minutes in a bright cameo. N/A

Ange Postecoglou has shuffled his pack for Tottenham's Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar. Fresh from last Saturday's 4-1 win over West Ham, the Spurs boss has made multiple changes to his team to take on their Dutch opponents.

The Lilywhites have made an excellent start to the Europa League league phase and another three points this evening will make it three wins from three games. However, AZ, who have former Spurs man Troy Parrott in their team, will be tough opposition despite coming into the European tie in poor form.

As has been the case in Europe so far this season, Postecoglou has opted to switch things about and give some of his first-team regulars a much-needed breather. The head coach has made nine changes from the West Ham game, with Destiny Udogie and James Maddison the only two players to keep their place in the team.

Fraser Forster, Archie Gray, Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall come into the side, with Mikey Moore, Richarlison and Timo Werner forming the front three. Wilson Odobert returns to the squad following his recent hamstring injury.

Son Heung-min is not in the Tottenham squad for this evening's clash against AZ. The South Korean ace was missing in training at Hotspur Way on Wednesday morning and Postecoglou revealed in his post-match press conference that his captain was "a bit sore" after the weekend and he was never going to be involved against AZ regardless.

Postecoglou knows all about tonight's visitors having come up against them during his time as Celtic boss. He was asked about them when speaking to the media at Hotspur Way and he revealed that he's always followed Dutch football.

"I think I know more about Dutch football than Micky [van de Ven], who was in Germany," joked the 59-year-old in his press conference. "I know AZ really well, I know Dutch football really well. Australia's always had a strong connection with Dutch football so I've always followed it very closely.

"We played AZ when I was at Celtic in the Europa League a couple of years back. Always a good side, really good at identifying young talent. There's also a Japanese connection there. When we played them last time, [Yukinari] Sugawara was there, now he's in the Premier League. They've got [Seiya] Maikuma there now. So I've always followed Dutch football and AZ, so we know the information we need."

Here is the Tottenham starting XI Postecoglou has selected to face AZ:

Confirmed Tottenham XI: Forster; Gray, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Bentancur, Bergvall, Maddison; Moore, Richarlison, Werner.

Substitutes: Vicario, Austin, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Sarr, Bissouma, Kulusevski, Odobert, Johnson, Solanke, Lankshear.
