Spurs are starting to add more talent to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season, but who else could join before the transfer window closes?

After the signing of Archie Gray in early July, Spurs went quiet in the transfer market, but with a £65million deal including add-ons for Dominic Solanke sealed, Spurs could potentially push on for a few more additions in the remainder of the summer transfer window. With Europa League football being added to Ange Postecoglou's fixture list this season, a bigger squad is needed.

There could also be some outgoings as well in the final few weeks, so to find out what could happen, we simulated the final few weeks of the summer transfer window to find out.

Spurs' final three weeks of the 2024 transfer window simulated

To set up this simulation, we used the Football Manager 2024 to simulate all of Spurs' incomings and outgoings in the final weeks of the transfer window. This is what happened.

Incomings (£71.8m)

Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace) - £52million

Antonio Nusa (Club Brugge) - £16million (19.8million including add-ons)

With Spurs' striker issue sorted due to the Solanke transfer, Spurs prioritised other positions in the simulation, and Postecoglou's side forked out £52million on Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze to bolster their midfield. Eze has been linked with a move to Spurs in the past, with the 26-year-old grabbing 11 goals and six assists for Palace last season before earning a call-up to England's Euro 2024 squad.

And with two days until the transfer window closed, Spurs signed Club Brugge striker Antonio Nusa for £16million, with the fee rising to £19.6million including add-ons. Nusa was an interesting signing, to say the least, with the 19-year-old striker lacking experience as well as goals – the Norwegian scored just four goals in 46 appearances last season.

Outgoings (£76.8m)

Richarlison (Paris Saint-Germain) - £51million

Manor Solomon (Al Ettifaq) - £16million

Djed Spence (Bologna) - Season-long loan (£9.8million option to buy)

Alfie Devine (Bristol Rovers) - Season-long loan

Dane Scarlett (Bristol Rovers) - Season-long loan

Spurs made a profit in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window, with Richarlison departing the club to Paris Saint-Germain for £51million on transfer deadline day after the French club failed with bids for Victor Osimhen, Darwin Nunez, and Antoine Griezmann. Manor Solomon was also allowed to leave the club, with the winger moving to Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia for £16million.

Djed Spence made another loan move to Italy, this time to Bologna with a £9.8million option to buy clause included, while youngsters Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett were both sent on loans to Bristol Rovers.

Tottenham's Giovani Lo Celso delivers one-word message amid Ange Postecoglou snub - Football.London
Description

Giovani Lo Celso is set to leave Tottenham this summer after being left out of Spurs' pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou opted to leave the 28-year-old out of Tottenham's 3-2 defeat to Vincent Kompany's team this weekend. Lo Celso's contract runs out next summer and he is unlikely to have a serious role to play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2024/25.

Lo Celso joined Spurs on permanent deal in January 2020 from Real Betis for £27.2million. But the attacking midfielder has not convinced Postecoglou and after spending last season on loan at Villarreal, he now looks set to leave Tottenham on a permanent transfer this summer.

However, despite his future now looking likely to be elsewhere, Lo Celso took time out to send a classy message to former teammate Harry Kane, The England captain retuned to the club and played for Bayern on Saturday.

"Amazing to be back at a place that will always be very special to me," Kane said in an emotional Instagram post. "Thanks to everyone for an incredible welcome.

"Great to get some minutes in the legs and step up the preparation for the season." And commenting below Kane's post, Lo Celso simply wrote: "Legend," alongside four clapping hands emojis.

Speaking at the beginning of April, Postecoglou was asked by football.london about Lo Celso's shortage of minutes.

"It is not just him," he said. "There has been a few in that boat where they just haven't had a real good run in terms of there has been injury disruptions and other times when he has been fit, other players have played in his position, but I still think Gio's been good for us this year.

"Through that middle patch when we had a lot of injuries, he really stood up for us and then got his own injury of course. He made a real impact against Luton at the weekend and it really helped us get over the line.

"Look, he's a fantastic player, but with all these things you've got to keep the perspective that we're at a big club, we're going to have a big squad and if it is not Gio, it will be someone else that will play that role next year. No one will play every game. It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen at all the big clubs, so I am never really worried about the game time players are playing.

"If they want more game time, there are other clubs where they can do that and I'm looking at contribution. With someone like Gio, like I said he has contributed to us this year and that's been the most important thing for me."

Why Timo Werner was at Wayne Rooney's first Plymouth game after Man United icon suffers horror debut

The English Football League got back underway this weekend and on Sunday, there was a surprise attendee as Timo Werner went to see Sheffield Wednesday beat Plymouth Argyle 4-0. The Tottenham Hotspur loanee travelled 168 miles north on the M1 to watch on at Hillsborough.

Werner signed for Spurs on a short-term loan in January but in the summer extended his temporary stay in the capital from RB Leipzig. The Germany international made 14 appearances, scoring twice, and the latest agreement features an £8.5million option to buy clause.

The 28-year-old only featured in Spurs' 3-2 pre-season friendly defeat against Bayern Munich on Saturday. Ange Postecoglu introduced the attacker as a second-half substitute as Dejan Kulusevski's brace proved to be immaterial as Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller were on target in the triumph.

Werner's attendance some 24 hours later in South Yorkshire raised some eyebrows. However, there is a simple reason behind why he was showing Danny Rohl's side support.

The German was appointed as the new manager at the helm last season, his arrival saw the switch for Sascha Lense to Wednesday - after roles at Leipzig, Manchester United and Schalke. Lense is the father-in-law of Werner, who has been with Paula Lense since 2015.

Lense is the performance manager at the Championship club following his spells with the likes of United, Leipzig and Schalke. The 48-year-old played over 100 games in Germany's second tier, turning out for the likes of FSV Frankfurt, FSV Zwickau, Dynamo Dresden and SV Darmstadt 98.

After Wednesday miraculously avoided relegation to League One, last season, Werner was in South Yorkshire to witness Wednesday get off to the perfect start. Their 4-0 triumph in turn inflicted misery on Plymouth Argyle manager Wayne Rooney, who was in the dugout for his first competitive game of the south coast side.

Jose Mourinho causes instant Fenerbahçe chaos in Turkish Super Lig debut

Former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is already causing chaos in his first match as Fenerbahçe boss.

'The Special One' was able to guide his new club to their first win of the season in their opening match against Adana Demirspor as he looks to get the better of bitter rivals Galatasaray in the race to the league title after they missed out on their first Super Lig trophy lift since 2014 by just three points.

Former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half, with former Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin, the club's newest signing, darting through the Demirspor half before a brilliant no-look pass found Dzeko open 12 yards out who curled it around goalkeeper Deniz Eren Dönmezer.

There were immediate calls for offside from the away side but semi-automated offside technology showed that Dzeko was being kept onside by centre-back Andrew Gravillon and therefore the goal stood, much to Mourinho's delight, who was seen celebrating on the touchline.

In typical Mourinho fashion, Fenerbahce didn't face a single shot on target throughout the contest, with their defensive display looking assured and succinct. Also in typical Mourinho fashion was the Portuguese legend's antics in his technical area.

Known for his passionate displays from the sideline, the 61-year-old took just 19 minutes to draw the attention away from the contest on the pitch. Within the opening 20 minutes, Mourinho was booked for arguing with the referee, with the cameras picking up him shouting at the officials in his Turkish Super Lig debut.

He can be seen arguing with the fourth official before turning away and continuing his tirade on the sideline, before the referee walks over to the touchline to show him a yellow card to which Mourinho simply stands there with his hands on his hips.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur's all-time record goalscorer Harry Kane made his return to north London yesterday with Bayern Munich in a dramatic clash for the Visit Malta Trophy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In a game of two halves, which saw both teams almost completely swap their starting XI's at halftime, it was the rapid start of Dejan Kulusevski which put Ange Postecoglou's side 1-0 up within 25 seconds of the opening kick-off. An awkward deflection off Joshua Kimmich put the ball in the perfect place for the Sweden international to poke it home from close range but their lead wouldn't last long.

Just before halftime, Bayern would get a third, this time coming from the head of Thomas Muller as he nodded home Raphael Guerrero's free kick before Kulusevski found his second of the match midway through the second half. Kane would come on with 10 minutes left to a standing ovation and had two efforts that narrowly went over the crossbar.

Following the clash, Postecoglou made it clear that he wasn't taking the result too seriously and that important minutes for some of the squad's fringe players was his main priority. He said: "It was a bit of a mixed bag. Some good, some not so good. Meaningful minutes for guys who just got back which was important for us today. I think hopefully there aren’t any injuries. Good opposition so a little bit of everything.

"The guys who came back this week from international duty, it's a matter of trying to get them up to speed. They've all come back in good condition, which helps, but I think getting them 45 minutes today, against a really good opponent, I think they'll feel better about that and we'll use it next week, those 10 days, to gauge how ready they are. But again, I see no reason if they get through our training week that they wouldn't be ready."

After the match, Kane declined to be the one to lift the Visit Malta trophy, instead handing the honour to goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and he stood in the background of the celebrations and simply clapped, as a good gesture to his former club.

Posting to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kane hailed the supporters of his former club in a brilliant message that read: "Amazing to be back at a place that will always be very special to me. Thanks to everyone for an incredible welcome. Great to get some minutes in the legs and step up the preparation for the season [raised hands emoji]."

twitter

Kane also shared a number of photos, including ones of him talking to the club's current captain Son Heung-min and James Maddison and one of him and Eric Dier being handed a commemorative gift by fellow Spurs legend Ledley King prior to kick-off. What the cameras didn't catch however was one incident between Kane and his former teammate Pedro Porro who pretended to hit Kane twice to get his attention before coming in and hugging him following the full-time whistle in a great scene between the pair.

Kane chance

First chance on goal for Kane as he shoots over after a neat turn outside the box.

Spurs sub and a returning hero

Standing ovation for Harry Kane and a big cheer as he comes on for the final 10 minutes for Bayern. Will Lankshear also comes on for Son.

Close

Kimmich tries to catch Vicario out with a free-kick and he isn't far away at all as the ball just goes wide of the post.

Spurs change

Spurs sub as Mikey Moore replaces Dejan Kulusevski. Something is up with Bergvall's boots. He's off the pitch at the moment, changing them.... and now he's back on.

Kulusevski scores

A first assist for Lucas Bergvall in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he wins the ball back, playing a one-two with Son and tees up Kulusevski to slot the ball into the bottom right corner.

Chance

Gnabry goes close to his second of the game as he forces Vicario into a save at his near post.

Bayern subs

Ulreich and Dier are on for Bayern at the break as Neuer and Upamecano make way.

Lots of changes for Spurs for the second half

Lots of changes for the second half from Spurs. The back four is now Gray, Romero, Van de Van and Udogie. The midfield is Skipp, Bentancur and Bergvall. Werner, Son and Kulusevski up front.

GOAL!

It's 3-1 to Bayern as Muller heads home from close range.

The experienced striker gets the better of Kulusevski to nod in Guerreiro's free-kick.

Save

Strong save from Vicario to stop Musiala's powerful effort from finding the net.

Bayern worked the ball well there as the German international let fly from the edge of the box.

GOAL!

Gnabry makes it 2-1 to Bayern with a low drive from the edge of the box.

Goal all came from Spurs playing it out from the back again, with Musiala doing enough to dispossess Bissouma as the visitors came out with the ball.

Brilliant from Dragusin

Superb defending from Dragusin to get a touch to the ball just as Muller looked to convert Gnabry's low cross to the back post.

Outstanding piece of play from the centre-back.

End to end stuff

Son sees Neuer off his line and has a go from distance. The keeper is able to grab it and then at the other end Dragusin does well with a sliding interception in the Spurs box.

Save

Good save from Neuer from Kulusevski, although a goal kick was given, after a penalty appeal at the other end.

Davies to the rescue

The chances keep on coming for Bayern.

This time Gnabry fires the ball across the face of goal but Davies is on hand to get a crucial touch to his effort.

GOAL!

Bayern equalise through Upamecano.

Kimmich sends in a free-kick that Tel heads at Vicario, with the ball then put in by the defender from point-blank range.

Another chance

Really big chance for Bayern to level through Gnabry.

The attacker is in the right place at the back post to meet Tel's cross but he volleys over the crossbar from close range.

Wide

Bayern fashion a chance on goal as Tel receives the ball on the left and shoots wide of the target.

Kulusevski scores!

Spurs have scored within 24 seconds. Kulusevski intercepts a Bayern headed pass straight away, Johnson runs up the pitch and sends it back to him, albeit just behind him. Although the Swede loses the ball, it bounces back to him and he touches it home.

New signings welcomed

Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have been presented to the Tottenham fans ahead of kick-off.

A huge cheer for all three from the home faithful.

Almost time

We're now ten minutes away from kick-off here in north London.

Stay tuned for all the action.

Ange's Solanke expectation

What were your thoughts on the game?

It was a bit of a mixed bag. Some good, some not so good. Meaningful minutes for guys who just got back which was important for us today. I think hopefully there aren’t any injuries. Good opposition so a little bit of everything.

Will there be any behind-closed-doors games for the Copa America/Euros group who have only just come back?

Nah, our training is pretty good in terms of getting people up to speed. It is a Monday night game so we have a couple of extra days for us. I think the 45 today will be good for them and we will do some good work with them over the next 10 days.

Dominic Solanke, he seems to be a player you like a lot?

He was obviously one I was very keen to get in. It took a while to get it over the line but I think he will be a great fit for us in terms of the player he is and the point of his career where he is at. I think he will be a good fit. As I said, we are a bit light in that front third in terms of adding quality not just to the squad but also to our team. He certainly does that. Pleased to get him on board and we have a week and a bit to work with him.

Does it help that he's versatile?

We identified him because he has the attributes we are looking for in terms of our position. He gives us some things we probably have been missing in the last 12 months, particularly when Richarlison was out last year. When Richy played he was very effective for us, it was quite evident when he was out we didn’t really have a player who can make the impact Dom can in the final third and just with his general play. So I think he will be a good fit for us.

How excited was he when you spoke to him about this new challenge?

We have got him at a really good time in his career. He has had to work his way back up which I always think is a good thing. Sometimes when careers go smoothly you wonder how people will handle setbacks but he had setbacks earlier in his career. He has fought his way back and has become a really good Premier League striker now. He is really keen to push on. He wants to improve and make an impact. I think it’s a great time for us to bring him in.

Solanke said ‘wow’ when he looked around the stadium. You want players to be enthusiastic about coming here?

Yeah I think it’s important. Players certainly have options out there and you kind of what to understand the motivations for why a player would want to come to us. Since I spoke to him I got a real sense he had a really burning desire to take his football to another level and really challenge himself at a big club. Like I said, he is keen to make an impact and our job is to make sure we provide that platform for him.

On Solanke, do you think he'd be ready to start against Leicester?

Yeah, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be. He's played most of the preseason. Slight knock in the last game Bournemouth played, but, of course, we'll have a look at him during, during the week. But I think that considering he's done most of the pre-season, I see no reason why he wouldn't be available.

How long has he been on your radar?

Yeah, a fair while, but again, you kind of look at players who've had, like I said, interesting journeys and with some players, things happen really early in their careers and they go really well, but then there's inevitable stumbles along the way and you want to see how they react.

But Dom had a very bright start to his career and he was at big clubs, which every player aspires to, but for one reason or another, it didn't work out for him, but the fact that he's got himself back to this position where he's again one of the premier strikers in the Premier League, it's a testament to his character and he's only 26, about to turn 27, so I think probably because of those early challenges he had, I think he's going try to push and have a really strong and impactful, meaningful years from now on.

You said earlier about the intensity of the training during this week that you shouldn't be worried about the players who've just come back from the Copa America, Destiny has just got his first minutes, how ready do you feel a lot of the players are going to be?

Destiny has already been training a bit longer than that. We've kind of protected him from games, but only because he'd been out for a while but he has been training, a little bit longer than the other guys. But, yeah, look, the guys who came back this week from international duty, it's a matter of trying to get them up to speed.

They've all come back in good condition, which helps, but I think getting them 45 minutes today, against a really good opponent, I think they'll feel better about that and we'll use it next week, those 10 days, to gauge how ready they are. But again, I see no reason if they get through our training week that they wouldn't be ready.

It was a big transfer for Tottenham to bring in Solanke, do you anticipate much more movement after that because it would have taken a big amount out of the budget?

You know our budget do you mate?

I would imagine it's taken a chunk of out it....

Look, we'll see, there's still time in the window and I think there'll still be some activity.

A first run-out inside the stadium for Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, what did you make of their performances?

I thought it was positive it was something tangible for us as a positive is that they've had that run-out now and they know what it feels like and playing in a full stadium. So, I think they both had their moments in there as well and look, they're going to be good players for us, no doubt and the more exposure we give them, the more we'll help them develop.

Was Lucas alright? He seemed at one point to be in a lot of discomfort.

Yeah, I'm not really sure. He said he was struggling to breathe or we had to sort of find out whether he swallowed something. But yeah, so I think it was nothing serious. He was alright.

Dejan Kulusevski was good again as a false nine, will he play there again now Solanke has joined?

No, I don’t think so. The good thing about Deki is that he can play that attacking midfield . I think the reason for us why we signed Dom, and hopefully Richy should be ready as well, is that we want to have a player through that area who is a bit more accustomed to that role. Deki has done a great job for us but I think his strengths and attributes are more in that attacking midfield or wide role. I think he is really developing and has had a really good pre-season for us and hopefully it gives us some more flexibility and potency through the middle when he is playing because he can get into those scoring areas.

With these practice games, they say practice makes perfect, but what did you make of the three goals you conceded today?

Yeah, they weren't great. They were pretty ordinary, pretty similar to what we sort of conceded over there [in Korea]. But at the same time we're kind of not at that stage yet, of integrating people in, with a back four that's never played together before. I always kind of bear those things in mind. The key for us is to be ready come Monday week.

Harry Kane shows true colours after Tottenham legend gets hero's welcome on Spurs return

It was a moment the Tottenham supporters have been waiting a year for - a chance to say a proper goodbye to Harry Kane. The Spurs legend and the club's all-time top goalscorer left his boyhood club in a £100million move to Bayern Munich last summer.

And on Saturday, the former Spurs star was given a hero's welcome as he returned to north London - the white half at least, he did do the honours and help knock Arsenal out of the Champions League last season - for the first time since that big-money departure.

Kane was not given a start at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in fact the Spurs fans were forced to wait until the last ten minutes to see their former hero in action.

And he was given a hero's welcome by the thousands inside the stadium in N17 as he came on late on in the game - Spurs' final pre-season friendly before the Premier League kicks off next week.

Kane got a standing ovation from the home supporters, just what his incredible career deserved. Kane, along with Eric Dier, was handed a commemorative gift by fellow Spurs legend Ledley King prior to kick-off, when he also waved and got an ovation from the crowd.

And then after the match, Kane showed his true colours and that his heart remains in Tottenham, by thanking the supporters who have cheered him on for almost the entirety of his football career.

As the preparations were being made in the middle of the pitch for a trophy presentation - this was for the Visit Malta Cup after all - Kane went on a lap of honour. The former Spurs man walked around the entire Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch and clapped all the fans who stayed behind to ensure their former hero was given the applause he deserved.

It was a fitting way for Kane to return to his footballing home with emotions high inside the ground.

Solanke's brilliant reaction, Son's Kane tribute

Tottenham rounded off their pre-season campaign with an entertaining 3-2 defeat against Bayern Munich on Saturday evening. After playing five games away from home as part of their summer schedule, the Lilywhites were back on home soil as the Bundesliga giants made the trip to north London.

The game saw Eric Dier and Harry Kane return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since departing, with the duo welcomed back after serving the club so well over the past decade. Starting the game well and scoring inside 23 seconds as Dejan Kulusevski netted from close range after some good work up against Kim Min-jae, Bayern soon turned the game on its head with three goals before the break.

Drawing level through Dayot Upamecano, the German side went in 3-1 to the good at half-time with Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller finding the net inside the final 15 minutes of the first half. Tottenham did get themselves back into the game after the hour mark as Kulusevski got his second of the evening with a cool finish from Lucas Bergvall's pass but that proved to be the last goal of the match.

Here are five things we spotted in the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Transfer hint

Ange Postecoglou, as expected, went near enough full strength for Tottenham's pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich. The head coach admitted in his pre-match press conference that Spurs' returning internationals such as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur and Giovani Lo Celso were all unlikely to start, which did indeed turn out to be the case.

There was to be no place in the playing squad for Lo Celso, however. The Copa America winner wasn't the only player to miss out, though, as Dane Scarlett was also not included after failing to feature in any of the three games on the club's pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.

The omission of both is perhaps a transfer hint as Postecoglou and Johan Lange get their plans in place for the new season. Lo Celso was always expected to depart Tottenham this summer due to a lack of first-team minutes, with Scarlett looking likely for another loan move after seeing academy ace Will Lankshear jump ahead of him in the pecking order this summer.

Ashley Phillips, who hasn't featured since the Vissel Kobe game after feeling sore in training, was also missing from the squad and goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman was also a notable absentee. There was also to be no Emerson Royal in the squad ahead of his protracted move to AC Milan that should be finalised very soon.

Kane and Dier welcomed back

Dier and Kane were welcomed back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday after calling time on their Tottenham careers last season. Both were presented with commemorative gifts by club legend Ledley King ahead of kick-off, with both players receiving huge cheers from the Tottenham faithful in attendance.

As both exited the pitch, Tottenham duo Romero and Bentancur were heading inside at the same time and made a beeline for their former Tottenham teammates. The players all shared a quick embrace and a few words before heading down the tunnel with kick-off fast approaching. It was a really nice moment involving all four.

Son Heung-min, who formed such a devastating partnership with Kane, almost paid the ultimate tribute to his good friend midway inside the first half as he tried his luck from just inside the Bayern half. Seizing upon a loose ball, the Spurs captain attempted to replicate Kane's outrageous strike against Juventus in pre-season five years ago but he was incredibly unlucky with Manuel Neuer just getting back to get his hand on the ball.

Solanke reaction

As is always the case at Tottenham ahead of a new season, the team's new signings were presented to the home fans ahead of kick-off. Not only was new arrival Dominic Solanke paraded on the pitch after completing his big-money move from Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, fellow new additions Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall were also present alongside the frontman.

The trio were applauded by supporters and looked around to take in the moment. With the TV camera zooming in on Solanke, the striker could be seen shaking his head with a smile on his face as he looked around at his new home. Solanke was perhaps in disbelief at the noise generated and also the incredible stadium he will be playing at on a regular basis from the 2024/25 campaign onwards.

There was to be no hint over the striker's shirt number, though, as he wasn't holding aloft a Spurs jersey when he was introduced. During the 90 minutes, Solanke watched the game alongside rival striker Richarlison as they took their seats by the touchline.

Spence wows fans

Djed Spence was handed his second successive start at left-back by Postecoglou. Even though Destiny Udogie was back in the matchday squad after stepping up his fitness over the past two weeks, the Italian was named on the bench rather than the boss throwing him straight back into the team.

Midway through the first half, Spence brought about a brilliant reaction from the home fans with a lovely piece of play as he got the better of Josip Stanisic. After winning the ball off the experienced Muller as Bayern spread the ball across the pitch, the full-back then linked up with Yves Bissouma before producing a sharp turn and knocking the ball through Stanisic's legs to advance.

Then teaming up with Son, James Maddison just couldn't get on the end of the Tottenham captain's inviting cross. The opportunity all came from Spence, who deserved the applause that came his way as he got the fans off their seats with a quick swivel and nutmeg to set Tottenham up on the attack.

Bergvall's eventful cameo

Saturday's game in north London gave Tottenham fans the opportunity to watch Bergvall make his home debut for the club. Supporters have had to be very patient when it has come to watching the Swede in action at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, especially as the youngster signed on the dotted line at the beginning of February.

Introduced at the break, the teenager had a big say on the game in the second half as he linked up with Kulusevski for his second of the match. Winning the ball off Konrad Laimer in the middle of the park, Bergvall played a one-two with Son and then slipped in Kulusevski with a delightful pass.

As impressive as the ball was from Bergvall, his compatriot's finish was just as good as he coolly passed the ball beyond Sven Ulreich to give Tottenham hope. Bergvall's time on the pitch was rather eventful to say the least as there was one moment when he needed to change his football boots and then he gave those watching on a scare as he went to ground.

It did appear that he was struggling to catch his breath and the medical staff were soon on to tend to him. After coughing a number of times and taking in some fluid, the attacking midfielder finally got back to his feet to play on. He certainly made an impression on his home bow.

Tottenham Hotspur fell to a 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in their final pre-season game before their Premier League campaign begins at Leicester City and here are second half player ratings.

Harry Kane and Eric Dier were handed golden cockerels to mark their time at the club on the pitch before the game while new Spurs striker Dominic Solanke was introduced to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd after sealing his £55m plus add-ons move from Bournemouth, while Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall were also unveiled to the supporters.

Spurs had opened the scoring within 24 seconds. Dejan Kulusevski intercepted a Bayern headed pass and Brennan Johnson ran up the pitch and sent the ball back to him, albeit just behind him. Although the Swede could not control the ball, it bounced back to him and he touched it home. Bayern levelled on 17 minutes. There was a free header at the back for Mathys Tel from a free-kick and Dayot Upamecano bundled it in after Guglielmo Vicario palmed out the initial effort.

Both sides had further chances but Spurs conceded a sloppy second. Vicario's pass out to Yves Bissouma was closed down quickly and the ball came out to Serge Gnabry who fired it low and into the net from the edge of the box. Thomas Muller then headed home a third for Bayern from another set-piece late in the half.

In the second half, there was a first assist for Lucas Bergvall in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he won the ball back, playing a one-two with Son and teed up Kulusevski to slot the ball into the bottom right corner.

Here are our second half Tottenham player ratings:

Guglielmo Vicario

Didn't have much to do in the second half other than watch a few efforts fly over or wide. 6

Archie Gray

A bright first performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, playing at right-back and showing plenty of good touches and movement. 7

Cristian Romero

Back in the team with a couple of trademark booming challenges, even in a friendly. 7

Micky van de Ven

A quiet display on the whole on his return, other than a powerful shot well over the Bayern crossbar. 6

Destiny Udogie

His first minutes since April and he had some good moments while trying to find his rhythm. 6

Oliver Skipp

Started really shakily but grew into the game as the half wore on. 6

Rodrigo Bentancur

A composed return to the centre of the pitch from the Uruguayan. 7

Lucas Bergvall

Grabbed his first assist inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, winning the ball back and then teeing up Kulusevski to score. Looked to be in some discomfort not long after and struggling but shook it off and came back on for a tidy display. 7

Dejan Kulusevski

Two goals for the Swede. His second half goal was a clinical finish into the bottom right corner. Came off after 65 minutes. 8

Son Heung-min

Back in the middle up front and he was involved in Spurs' second half goal. Played the most minutes of any Tottenham player before coming off with 10 minutes to go. 6

Timo Werner

Didn't make much of an impact down the right after coming on. 4

Subs

Mikey Moore

Another good little cameo from the bench, this time in front of a cheering Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 6

Will Lankshear

A battling 10 minutes or so and it says a lot about his recent efforts for Postecoglou that he was the only striker in the squad. 6
