Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Rangers at Ibrox on Thursday night in the Europa League and here are our Spurs player ratings from the clash.

Postecoglou had to do without Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies and Mikey Moore, and chose to rest Dominic Solanke, Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski from his starting line-up for the match at Ibrox. He made five changes to his team from the one that lost 4-3 to Chelsea and with another away day to Southampton on Sunday in mind.

After a physical first half lacking in quality from both sides it was the home team who scored early in the second period when Hamza Igamane half-volleyed home a deep cross from the right. Spurs grabbed an equaliser as two substitutes combined with Solanke finding Kulusevski in the box to hit a shot back across the keeper. Neither side could find a winner in the final minutes.

Here are our Tottenham player ratings from the draw at Ibrox.

Fraser Forster

Made a couple of comfortable saves in the first half. Couldn't get near Igamane's half-volley early in the second period. Made a crucial save from Dessers with five minutes of normal time remaining. 8

Pedro Porro

Another goal conceded from his area of the box as he chased back but couldn't get near it. Wasn't one of his best performances and he needs a rest. Surely Djed Spence gets some minutes this weekend for one of the full-backs. 5

Archie Gray

First start as a centre-back for the 18-year-old and on the whole he was solid, winning headers and decent with the ball at his feet. Was one of those who got turned inside out by Jeffers late on, but on the whole he did well for someone out of position and so young. 6

Radu Dragusin

Tried to guide Gray through the game and dealt with a lot of what came his way. 7

Destiny Udogie

Gave too much room for the cross for Rangers' early second half goal. A willing runner but without much quality at the end of it. 5

Rodrigo Bentancur

Was one of Spurs' better players in the first half but faded badly again in the second period. Came off after the hour mark. 5

Yves Bissouma

So weak in duels in the first half and he's struggling to make an impact in games right now. That's him out for a week now. 4

James Maddison

Struggled for openings and another game where he looked busy but didn't produce much where it mattered. 4

Brennan Johnson

Had a couple of chances in either half but he's struggling to find his form at the moment. Lost his runner leading to the cross for the Rangers goal 4

Son Heung-min

Playing through the middle, the captain sent an early soft effort at the keeper. Worked hard down the left but with little joy. 5

Timo Werner

Curled an early effort well over. Struggled to do anything of note after that with poor control and decision-making. Was hooked at half time. Pretty dreadful display. 2

Subs

Dejan Kulusevski

Took a while to get into the game but fired home the equaliser from Solanke's pass with a lovely finish. 7

Lucas Bergvall

Another tidy cameo and he's pushing for a start in this competition surely? 6

Pape Matar Sarr

Added some energy to a flagging midfield. 6

Dominic Solanke

Grabbed an assist with his ball across that Kulusevski finished well. Could have scored himself with a late header. 6

'Spurs could destroy Rangers if they play at their best'

Neil Lennon, speaking to BoyleSports who offer the latest Celtic vs Rangers odds, says this could be a very one-sided clash if Spurs get things right.

"When Spurs click on the counter-attack, they can destroy any team. That will be the danger for Rangers. They have had injury problems and their form has been very inconsistent, so it will be interesting to see the team that Ange Postecoglou puts out.

"Spurs need a win after a draw against Roma so it will be an interesting match."

Postecoglou's squad decision

The B list has come in very handy for Tottenham this season when it has come to naming a matchday squad in the Europa League.

Giving Spurs the option of including some of their most talented youngsters in the matchday party at a time when their options in their main 25-man squad are extremely limited to say the least, Spurs have opted against naming any other players on the B list for the Rangers game.

However, 11 players remain on the B list and could well be part of the plans in Glasgow this evening.

Predicted team

All eyes are going to be on Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham team selection for this evening's game in Glasgow.

Spurs are extremely short in certain positions right now, most notably in defence with Radu Dragusin the only fully-fit centre-back at the head coach's disposal.

The Tottenham boss certainly cannot make wholesale changes for the Rangers fixture, although that perhaps isn't a bad thing with the team in desperate need of securing a win.

You can find our predicted team for the game right here.

Behind the scenes in Glasgow

Tottenham reporter Alasdair Gold was present in Glasgow for Ange Postecoglou's press conference and the first 15 minutes of the team's training session at Ibrox.

Every word from Ange

Ange Postecoglou was in front of the media on Wednesday evening as he previewed Tottenham's game against Rangers.

Speaking about the game and his return to Scotland, the Australian was also quizzed about the latest on the injury front after Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven both came off injured in Sunday's defeat at Chelsea.

Romero's comments about the club were also a big talking point in his time with the assembled media.

Ange Postecoglou has made five changes to his Tottenham Hotspur side to take on Rangers at Ibrox on Thursday night in the Europa League.

Spurs' European campaign has so far brought three straight wins followed by a defeat at Galatasaray and draw at home against Roma. Postecoglou's men currently lie ninth in the Europa League table with the top eight after this eight-game stage automatically qualifying for the knockout stage while those from ninth down to 24th must play another two-legged play-off round early next year.

Postecoglou has lost Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven again, re-joining an absence list that includes Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies and Mikey Moore.

Yves Bissouma is suspended from Spurs' next Premier League match at Southampton on Sunday after collecting his fifth yellow card against Chelsea, so keeps his place against Rangers with that in mind, while Rodrigo Bentancur's domestic ban does not extend to Europa League games so the Uruguayan can come back into contention. James Maddison returns to the starting line-up after being on the bench against Chelsea.

It's Dominic Solanke, Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski turns to get a rest for this game with Son Heung-min playing through the centre of the attack. Brennan Johnson has recovered from his illness and is on the right with Timo Werner coming in on the left.

Here's the Tottenham team Postecoglou has selected to face Rangers on Thursday night at Ibrox.

Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Bentancur, Bissouma, Maddison; Johnson, Son, Werner. Subs: Austin, Whiteman, Dorrington, Hardy, Bergvall, Olusesi, Sarr, Kulusevski, Solanke, Williams-Barnett, Lankshear.

Tottenham will look to bounce back from the disappointment of the weekend's Premier League result when they return to European action on Thursday night.

Spurs have what is a relatively short journey up to Scotland as they take on Rangers at Ibrox. It's a showdown that has a bit of extra interest due to Ange Postecoglou's previous association with Rangers' old firm rivals Celtic.

The Australian managed the Scottish giants from 2021 to 2023, when he joined Spurs. In that time, he beat Rangers to the title in both of his seasons in charge of the club.

There has been a lot of talk about the manager - given Tottenham's inconsistent season so far. The team are currently winless in their last four games in all competitions, since beating Man City 4-0 away from home last month in what was, at the time, an eye-catching statement.

Spurs, meanwhile, currently sit in ninth place in the Europa League group stage table, with Rangers in the last automatic qualifying spot in eighth. Just goal difference currently separates the two sides in the standings.

Here's everything you need to know about following the Europa League clash on TV;

When is Rangers vs Spurs and what time is kick-off?

The match takes place on Thursday, December 12 with kick-off at 8pm. The game is being played at Ibrox.

Is the Rangers vs Spurs game being shown live on TV?

Yes, the game is being shown live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate. Coverage starts at 7pm with an hour of build-up before kick-off.

TNT Sport subscribers will also be able to stream the match on Discovery+ on their laptop or mobile devices via the app. Highlights will also be available shortly after full-time - on the TNT Sports website.

How else can I follow Rangers vs Spurs?

Live radio commentary of the game will be available on talkSPORT and BBC Five Live. Of course, football.london will also bring you the latest before, during and after the Europa League match via our dedicated live blog - which will be available a few hours before kick-off.

Daniel Levy told to make Ange Postecoglou decision as fresh Tottenham verdict given

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Chris Sutton has called on Daniel Levy to stick with Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham head coach and not push the panic button. Spurs have endured such a frustrating start to the 2024/25 Premier League season and currently find themselves 11th in the table after 15 games.

From the highs of hitting Aston Villa and Manchester City for four in November, the north London club have produced some extremely poor performances in other games and subsequently slipped to defeats against Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and Bournemouth. Spurs were once again on the losing side last Sunday after surrendering a 2-0 lead in their 4-3 home defeat to Chelsea.

The pressure on Postecoglou's shoulders has increased in recent weeks and the TV cameras panned to chairman Levy a number of times during the Chelsea game. Despite a poor run of form, Sutton has made it clear that Tottenham are currently dealing with a host of injuries but they are still in three cup competitions and also five points away from Nottingham Forest in fifth in the league table.

Knowing exactly what Postecoglou can produce after watching him closely at his former club Celtic, the former Premier League striker believes the Australian should keep his job as Tottenham boss and questioned potential alternatives to him.

"I always think you have to go back to the start of why Ange Postecoglou was appointed at Tottenham," said Sutton in an interview with spaceportsweden.com. "Of course, we always hear it's because Spurs want to win trophies, but that hasn't happened very much over the last 50 years. But there's that added element of Spurs fans being bored to tears watching Mourinho and Conte teams. Nuno Espirito Santo went in very briefly, so they wanted to be entertained. Robbie Williams was writing songs about Ange Postecoglou a season ago.

"Everybody was into it when it was all going swimmingly well, and they have still had moments this season. A couple of weeks ago beating Manchester City 4-0 on their own patch. Their highs are so high. There’s been a fair few lows, and I don’t think he’s been helped by a couple of players at the weekend. Bissouma and Sarr were really reckless in their decision making.

"I don't know whether Daniel Levy will make a decision or not, but I really hope that he sticks with Ange Postecoglou, because I think he's been brilliant, not just for Tottenham, but for the Premier League. What’s the alternative?

"The other thing, I think he’s been slightly unfortunate with injuries. He’s lost Vicario, his two centre-halves. He got criticised for playing Romero and Van de Ven. Maybe he thought this was a really important game, and there's that rivalry between Tottenham and Chelsea, and he thought that was worth taking a chance and taking the game really seriously.

"It's interesting, he's got Rangers on Thursday in the Europa and that's certainly going to be a huge game. They've then got Southampton and Liverpool. The other thing, he’s still in three cups. there’s loads of ways to look at it. When Tottenham went 2-0 up though, was it a great surprise that Chelsea came back and won the game? I don't think anybody would have been totally, totally shocked by that and that's sort where Tottenham are at.

"Could he be more pragmatic? Well, maybe, but he sees it his way. Most people think, well, there needs to be a bit of balance, and I totally understand that. He's stubborn, he's had 25-27 years in management and coaching and he has been a huge success. He's won cups and titles wherever he's been, and he sees it as the best way for Tottenham.

"There's so much short-termism in the game now, isn't there? You have a bad run of games, you've pointed out the league table where Tottenham are, but two wins and they're flying up to fifth. But I do think that he said himself that if he's mid-table around Christmas, then pressure will build. He's not daft. I like watching his team fly. I think he's been brilliant for the league."

Ange Postecoglou's awkward Tottenham moment in Glasgow and the man who made him laugh

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Ange Postecoglou has found that it's quite possible at Tottenham Hotspur to feel both the heat and the cold as the head coach.

The 59-year-old is back in Glasgow, the scene of his silverware-packed success with Celtic where he won five trophies in two seasons including a goal-laden treble before jumping on a flight down to north London last year to embark on the Premier League rollercoaster.

Even standing in the freezing cold Scottish night at Ibrox, where Postecoglou will feel the heat of the Rangers fans' wrath on Thursday night and the situation at Spurs, it probably harkened back to simpler times.

For the step into life at Tottenham has been fraught with hurdles that would send a less experienced manager tumbling. If it wasn't bad enough that he would lose the club's best player and record goalscorer on the eve of his opening game in charge while having to undertake the biggest rebuild in Tottenham's recent history, the Australian has faced an injury crisis the likes of which even he has never come across.

When football.london asked him if it was the worst in almost three decades of coaching, there was no hesitation.

"Yeah, yeah by a fair stretch," came the response after he had explained that both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven had returned on Sunday only to get injured again and place themselves back on an absence list that contains Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies and Mikey Moore, and on Sunday for the trip to Southampton will include the suspended Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma.

Postecoglou has taken most of it on the chin. His brand of football and high energy training will bring injuries, more so hamstring ones to those new to it or susceptible to them. However, the amount of contact injuries, illnesses and suspensions and also those getting injured on their return to action are things beyond his control.

For the first time on Wednesday evening, when asked whether it was something that needed to be addressed rather than put down simply to bad luck by football.london, the Spurs boss showed that he believes there's more to it and the club needs to get to the bottom of it.

"I never think it's just bad luck. Some of it [is]. I've never lost a goalkeeper for this period of time. Some of the other issues that we've had... But some of it is recurring, particularly this year in terms of guys coming back and re-injuring," he said. "It's something we're looking at. We're always trying to explore whether we can do things better.

"Last year was different to this year. Last year it hit us across the board. This year it's more guys that are coming back who are affected. Knock on wood, we've got a core group who are playing a lot and are getting through it ok, but it is something we are trying to address."

It all means that 18-year-old midfielder Archie Gray will have to do a job in central defence alongside 22-year-old Radu Dragusin, the only fit senior centre-back at the club. There are academy centre-backs to turn to in the shape of 19-year-old Alfie Dorrington and 16-year-old Malachi Hardy - both of whom have made the trip to Glasgow - but thus far Postecoglou has not gone down that road.

Gray's greater experience of big physical games with Leeds during their promotion chase last season - playing more than 50 times for them - and now European nights with Spurs, as well as his versatility, makes the decision to trust him understandable.

Dorrington's year has been dogged by a couple of serious hamstring injuries that required surgery and his recovery and gradual rehabilitation into development squad training came a month or so into this season. He has thus far been unable to catch Postecoglou's eye, the far younger Hardy getting the nod on the bench twice so far this campaign.

There might be a temptation to recall Ashley Phillips in January from his loan at Stoke, but although Postecoglou claimed that he didn't want to block the path of the 19-year-old or Luka Vuskovic, who arrives this summer, Phillips has not played a minute under the Australian since arriving last year.

A new centre-back - one that would need to be ready to arrive in the opening days of the January transfer window - looks surely more likely as Postecoglou desperately needs reinforcements with Romero, Van de Ven and Davies seemingly back in the new year but there will be concern now over any return after recent episodes.

Romero was also the topic of conversation for a different reason. The World Cup-winning Argentine gave an interview after Sunday's defeat to Chelsea with Spanish-speaking media outlet Telemundo and did not hold back on either his effusive support for Postecoglou or his belief in what was actually holding Spurs back.

On the Australian, Romero has said: "He's a great coach. We saw it in the first season. In this second one we've suffered a lot of injuries. Players are the first one to be criticised, then if we lose 10 games, the staff can be changed but nobody talks about what is actually happening. We are very happy with this staff, me and my colleagues. We love how they work and the football they try to play. We'll try to move on quickly."

On what is 'actually happening', he expanded when asked if Tottenham had fallen behind their top six rivals in terms of investment and squad strength to compete for titles, saying: "The truth is, I would say no comment, but... Manchester City competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, doesn't do well, strengthens again, and now they're seeing results.

"Those are the things to imitate. You have to realise that something is going wrong, hopefully, they realise it. The last few years, it’s always the same: first, the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it's always the same people responsible. Hopefully, they realise who the true responsible ones are, and we move forward because it’s a beautiful club that, with the structure it has, could easily be competing for the title every year."

It's an awkward subject for Postecoglou for a couple of reasons and when football.london asked him for his thoughts on his vice-captain's comments, it brought a prepared, thought-out response that had to tick plenty of boxes.

The Australian is an ambitious man so will certainly agree with much of what the two-time Copa America-winning centre-back said in terms of wanting to fight with the big boys and it's simply fact to state that while the hierarchy at Tottenham has remained a constant for almost a quarter of a century so everything below has constantly changed, with 13 different permanent managers working for chairman Daniel Levy over those years.

It is that exact constant changing of the guard though that means even if Postecoglou did agree whole-heartedly with Romero, he was never going to be able to air that publicly. Right now he needs to retain the board's support if he is to see through the rebuild that the north London club desperately needs to change it into something far more successful.

He also didn't want to blast Romero, a player he loves and embodies the fight and winning mentality he wants from his Tottenham side. The Argentine is the most successful player in his squad and knows what it takes to win the top honours. So the Australian's long answer had to hit all the right notes.

"In the context of the day, Cristian was really disappointed obviously. More than disappointed in that he'd worked hard to get back, it was a big game for us obviously, he knew that, and he had to go off and then watch the team have to feel the pain of another defeat in the manner it happened," said Postecoglou.

"He was obviously very emotional. He's a leader in the club, he hasn't been able to help us, I think it was his way of trying to as a leader help us in the group. We're going through a tough time and he believes in what we're doing, and then the other part of it probably he went about it the wrong way.

"He's passionate about having success at the club and the way he expressed it was not the right way in a public sense. I don't feel and it's certainly not my belief that our challenges at the moment are down to one thing or one person, I don't believe that, I never have believed that.

"Whatever we need to do, we have the power to do that but it'll only happen if we stay united as a group particularly through difficult times, get through to the other side. I fully believe if you can do that, you come out stronger. Cristian realises what he said...a lot of what he said was good, some wasn't right and shouldn't have been done in public. We deal with these things in our own four walls. There's always issues we need to deal with. The same way I wouldn't criticise a player or anyone else, we shouldn't be doing that in a public sense."

On whether that was going to be any repercussions for the defender, the head coach said: "I just think you deal with these things internally. I just don't think there's any benefit for us. I know people get really salacious about punishments and stuff. They really love that sort of thing. I think I'm pretty consistent in saying I don't just think that's important. I think what's more important is an understanding of how we should deal with these things and deal with them better.

"I've already spoken to Cristian about it and and you know, he's apologised for the fact that the way he said it, particularly in the public sense, wasn't the right way to go about things. He's a human being, he got emotional and I think he just expressed what he wanted to express, probably in the wrong way.

"He does care. I think it would have been easy for him not to say anything. He does care, but there's a way to do these things and a way to express yourself and the way he did it wasn't the right way."

Postecoglou admitted that there is a financial disparity between Tottenham and the top sides despite their huge revenue increase since the stadium was opened in 2019.

"We know there are things that we can compete with. I don't think it's just about finances, you know? I think, yes, finances, where the club kind of sits, we know there's a gap, but not between just us, with most clubs and some of those clubs," he said. "So we understand that, but within that context, I don't think it doesn't mean you can't be competitive in your own way.

"I think what Cristian was kind of talking about, and it's what I believe as well, is that we should aim to think like those clubs and try to be successful every year. I think the other thing that he did say quite clearly is that it does have the elements of being a big club, you know, it has the infrastructure, it has the stadium, it has the support.

"So it's very easy to point the finger of blame about one thing, but also you've got to acknowledge that these things are there as well, because other clubs are endeavouring to do that. Some still have that journey ahead, It's just the way I kind of think. I just don't think that it's one thing that will get us to where we want to, and I don't think there's one thing that's stopping us from getting to where we want to.

"I'm certainly as ambitious as everyone else is at the football club since I've been here to bring success. That means taking on and trying to beat the teams that in some respects have extra resources, but we can find different ways of of bridging that gap."

Postecoglou went out after that to oversee the Spurs players training in the freezing cold Glasgow night. He sat in the dugout for a spell and that brought the rare sight of the Australian enjoying small talk and laughing away at one point. The man who made him crack up was his compatriot and the club's chief football officer Scott Munn, who rather than sitting in a suit, was dressed up in coaching staff attire to handle the Scottish weather.

The 50-year-old will be a key ally for Postecoglou right now if Tottenham's hierarchy begin to step into their customary cycle of panic, which arrives roughly once every 18 months.

In that moment though on a cold night at Ibrox, whatever was said, it was probably good for the Spurs head coach to have a good old full-hearted laugh. If he didn't amid the fires he's constantly fighting right now, he'd probably cry.

Ange Postecoglou makes Tottenham Europa League squad decision vs Rangers amid injury crisis

Description

All eyes will be on the Tottenham team Ange Postecoglou names for Thursday evening's Europa League tie against Rangers. In the midst of an injury crisis at present, Spurs are not in a position where they can rotate a large chunk of their first-team regulars due to the limited numbers at the head coach's disposal.

However, that maybe isn't a bad thing as it means the boss cannot make wholesale changes and he has no option but to name a strong XI as Tottenham look to get back on track after some poor results of late. Spurs did welcome back Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero to the team for last Sunday's game against Chelsea but the duo have since returned to the treatment room after coming off in the 4-3 defeat.

Speaking to the media in Glasgow on Wednesday evening, Postecoglou gave an update on the injury front heading into the showdown at Ibrox. "Not much better to be fair… obviously with the weekend’s fall-out Romero and Van De Ven, we’re still getting some clarity around their prognosis, but both have picked up injuries that will keep them out again.

"That’s disappointing for us because we’re thin on numbers but we’ve had to deal with that for quite a while now. Everyone else from the weekend got through OK. [Rodrigo] Bentancur is obviously available so at least we get him back."

When pressed on the reports from South America that Romero faces a six-week spell on the sidelines, the Australian said: "At the moment we’re still getting more information on both the guys and I wouldn’t put any time line on it yet."

Despite missing a handful of players, Postecoglou can still field a strong team against Rangers in the Europa League. The head coach will also have more choice on his substitutes' bench as UEFA rules allow teams to name a total of 12 substitutes rather than the usual nine in the Premier League.

That in turn will present the head coach with the opportunity to add some of the club's talented academy players to his matchday squad. In the team's previous European game against Roma at the end of November, Callum Olusesi, Maeson King, Lucas Williams-Barnett and Malachi Hardy were included for the match against the Giallorossi.

The quartet are all part of the club's B list for the competition, which is in addition to the main 25-man squad that they had to name in early September. The B list does increase the options available to a head coach on a matchday and Spurs have so far added a number of names to it since kicking off their European fixtures against Qarabag.

Club-trained players who were born on or after January 1, 2003 are allowed to be considered for selection but they must have been with Tottenham for an uninterrupted period of a minimum of two years to be eligible. Europa League participants are allowed to register an unlimited amount of players on the B list during the campaign, with the necessary paperwork having to be completed no later than midnight (CET) on the day before a game.

Despite a spate of injuries wreaking havoc in N17 right now, Postecoglou has opted against adding any further players to the B list for Thursday evening's game in Glasgow. As thing stand, 11 players feature on the B list, including the aforementioned Olusesi, King, Williams-Barnett and Hardy.

Luca Gunter, Alfie Dorrington, Dante Cassanova, Mikey Moore, Tyrese Hall, Oyindamola Ajayi and Will Lankshear complete the 11 players on the list. Players such as Dorrington, Cassanova, King and Hardy will certainly all be hoping to make the cut at Rangers with Radu Dragusin the only fully-fit centre-back available to Postecoglou right now.

Description

Thursday night promises a thrilling encounter at Ibrox as Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur clash in the Europa League, both teams eager to secure advancement to the knockout rounds. With each side having amassed 10 points from their initial five matches, the stakes are high for these strong contenders in the competition.

Spurs go into this match as the bookies favourites at evens with CopyBet while hosts Rangers are 11/5 and a draw is 13/5. The Gers are winless in their last six meetings against English clubs in all competitions picking up just one draw in that time since beating Leeds United home and away in the Champions League qualifying stages back in the 1992/93 season.

Rangers boosted their chances of progressing with a decisive 4-1 win against Nice on matchday five. Philippe Clement’s men have carried this form into domestic play, stringing together three straight victories in the Scottish Premiership, including a dominant 3-0 win over Ross County.

Conversely, Tottenham have been navigating a turbulent season under Ange Postecoglou. While flashes of brilliance have been evident, inconsistency remains an issue. The pressure is mounting on Postecoglou after a dramatic 4-3 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League highlighted their defensive vulnerabilities.

This Europa League fixture presents a crucial opportunity for both clubs. Rangers aim to capitalise on their home advantage and solid form, whereas Tottenham seek stability and a chance to ease growing tensions. Fans can anticipate an exhilarating contest as these teams battle for European progression.

Tottenham will be looking to avoid a fifth game without a win when they take on Rangers in the Europa League later today.

Since their 4-0 win over Manchester City at the end of November, Spurs have struggled across all competitions, with the Lilywhites failing to win any of their last four games, most recently losing 4-3 to Chelsea in the Premier League. In fact, Ange Postecoglou's side have won just one of their last seven games across all competitions, with Spurs 11th in the Premier League and ninth in the Europa League.

Attention turns back to the Europa League later today for the Lilywhites as they travel to Scotland to take on Rangers. Both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were taken off with injuries after seemingly being rushed back for the clash with Chelsea on the weekend, meaning the duo will be unavailable later today.

So, can Spurs return to winning ways? Let's take a look.

We simulated Rangers vs Spurs to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Butland; Tavernier, Souttar, Propper, Jefte; Barron, Raskin; Cerny, Diomande, Bajrami; Dessers.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Bentancur, Bergvall, Maddison; Kulusevski, Solanke, Werner.

Spurs were far from convincing in the opening stages at Ibrox, with Cyriel Dessers forcing Fraser Forster into making one of the saves of the season just a few minutes in. The early chance gave Rangers the confidence boost they needed though, and with their tails up, they managed to find the lead.

A high press from the hosts forced Archie Gray into misplacing a pass while Spurs played out the back, with Connor Barron playing the ball forward for Dessers to chase. The striker got the better of Radu Dragusin before breaking into the box, cutting onto his left foot, and curling the ball into the top corner of the net, putting the hosts 1-0 up in the opening 10 minutes.

After going behind, Spurs responded well, and they should've equalised when Timo Werner smartly beat his man before going one-on-one with Jack Butland, but the winger's strike was poor, allowing the 'keeper to make a simple save. As the game approached half-time, Spurs were in full control, and like the Rangers goal, an error at the back allowed Postecoglou's side to draw level.

A short goal kick saw Barron receive the ball on the edge of his own box, but James Maddison gave the midfielder no time, winning back possession in a dangerous area of the pitch. Maddison found Werner who drifted into the middle of the pitch, and an emphatic finish saw the German rifle an effort into the top corner to level the score before the break.

Unfortunately, the energetic first half didn't continue after the restart, with both sides struggling to create any clear-cut chances. The game ended all square in Scotland, extending Spurs' winless run to five games.

EA FC 25 predicted final score: Rangers 1-1 Spurs

Ange Postecoglou continues to wrangle with a long list of unavailable players as he tries to get Tottenham's Europa League campaign back to winning ways at Rangers on Thursday evening.

Injury-hit Spurs are in Glasgow looking for a spark to reignite their season and Postecoglou is back in the city where he won five trophies in two seasons with Celtic. Now he will be looking to get one over on his old rivals with a big European match under the Ibrox lights.

He will have to do so without Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, who returned for Sunday's 4-3 defeat Chelsea only to pick up new injuries, meaning the central defensive duo re-join an absence list of players that already includes Guglielmo Vicario, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies and Mikey Moore.

Yves Bissouma is suspended from Spurs' next Premier League match against Southampton on Sunday after collecting his fifth yellow card against Chelsea, so could be used against Rangers with that in mind, while Rodrigo Bentancur's domestic ban does not extend to Europa League games so the Uruguayan can come back into contention.

Here's the Tottenham team we reckon Postecoglou will go for to face Rangers on Thursday night at Ibrox.
