Forster and Dragusin impress but two players really poor

Tottenham drew 1-1 with Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and here are our Spurs player ratings from the game.

Spurs added Dominic Solanke to their long list of unavailable players after he arrived at the stadium but was considered too unwell to take part and was sent home by Ange Postecoglou. The striker added to an absentee list that contained goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Mikey Moore, and the suspended Rodrigo Bentancur.

Postecoglou made four changes as James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Timo Werner and Yves Bissouma all came in to the team with Dejan Kulusevski among those rested on the bench.

Both sides struck the woodwork in the first half and both keepers had to make saves but neither team could break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes.

The goal finally came on 54 minutes when Timo Werner picked out Brennan Johnson with a great cross and the Wales international buried a powerful volley past Bernd Leno.

The visitors found a leveller though with a clinical finish by the unmarked Tom Cairney from just inside the box in the 67th minute.

Fulham were knocked down to 10 men after a Cairney challenge on Kulusevski, high and down the back of the Swede's calf, was deemed worthy of a red card by the VAR assistant referee Craig Pawson and referee Darren Bond agreed after looking at his pitchside monitor. Spurs could not find a late winner though with their numerical advantage.

Here are our Tottenham player ratings from the game:

Fraser Forster

His first Premier League appearance in 18 months and he was excellent. Denied Jimenez in the first half and then made a full length save from the same player 35 minutes into the game. Pushed an Iwobi shot on to the crossbar with his fingertips. Made a save with his knee from Diop early in the second half and then from Iwobi. Dived at full stretch and couldn't do anything about Cairney's powerful shot inside the right-hand post. 9

Pedro Porro

Looked tired for much of the game and had a tough job on his hands with Iwobi in the second half. Wasn't able to make a couple of runs as the game wore on when team-mates needed him to. Odd that Spence wasn't called upon at any point. 5

Radu Dragusin

Had a header tipped over by Leno and did well on the whole, including a sliding interception in his six-yard box that had to be perfect or it would have sent the ball into his own net. 8

Ben Davies

Played with a black eye and made an important early tackle in the Spurs box. Did well alongside Dragusin until being unable to keep pace with a late Fulham break. 7

Destiny Udogie

Didn't offer too much going forward and one late slip allowed Fulham to break away for a dangerous attack. 6

Pape Matar Sarr

Plenty of effort and endeavour but without the quality needed in the final action. 6

Yves Bissouma

A performance blending good moments and sloppy ones. 6

James Maddison

Hit the post with a clever deflected low free-kick. Struggled to make much else happen for Spurs. 5

Brennan Johnson

Very quiet going forward for much of the game but again made it a goal in four consecutive games for club and country with a powerful volley on the run past Leno for his 10th of the season. Gets a couple of extra marks for an excellent goal but otherwise he struggled to get involved. 6

Son Heung-min

Had a couple of early chances, both stopped by Leno, but contributed very little after that. Really looked on the fringes of the game. A very quiet day for the captain when he needed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. 4

Timo Werner

Made a good interception and pass to Son within 50 seconds to give Spurs an early chance. Set up Johnson with a great cross to make it assists in back-to-back Premier League games. Was the most threatening of the front three although that wasn't saying much. 6

Subs

Dejan Kulusevski

Tried to make things happened but couldn't make much of an impact. 5

Lucas Bergvall

Came on for the final 10 minutes or so and was neat if not impactful. 5

Archie Gray

Lasted only a few minutes before coming off injured. N/A

Will Lankshear

Made his Premier League debut in the final minutes. N/A

Tottenham ready to complete two deals as Ange Postecoglou's January transfer plans take shape

Tottenham are reportedly looking to complete two deals ahead of the January transfer window, with longest-serving player Ben Davies in line for a contract extension.

The defender has been with the club since 2014, but has found starts difficult to come by in the Premier League this season. He did however play the full 90 minutes of last week’s 4-0 win over Manchester City and was named in the lineup for a second league game in a row when Spurs hosted Fulham on Sunday.

As reported by football.london, Tottenham are ready to trigger an option to extend his current deal by another year. It means that he remain at the club until at least 2026.

The Mirror also report also says that Spurs are keen to tie Timo Werner down to a long-term deal with the club. The 28-year-old is currently on loan from Red Bull Leipzig, but Tottenham will pay just £8.5 million to make the deal permanent.

Werner has been in and out of Ange Postecoglou’s side in the Premier League this season, but provided an assist as a late substitute in the win over Man City. That has led to him being recalled to the team for the clash against Fulham with the German starting on the left of a front three.

Plans are already being put into place for the January transfer window at Tottenham with Postecoglou revealing that he has held a number of meetings with technical director Johan Lange over the window that opens in a month.

"We're always planning, planning for every scenario. A lot of it will depend on where we are as a squad at that time,” Postecoglou said ahead of Fulham.

"Between now and then, it is only really [Cristian] Romero and [Micky] Van de Ven who will be back in that time frame, but Richy (Richarlison) will hopefully be back in the new year and we will just assess where we are squad wise but certainly, with Johan [Lange] I've already had a number of meetings for a strategy in January.

"I think last year we did a little bit of business which ended up helping us, but nothing concrete now because January is always tricky and it depends on where we are squad-wise."

Hello and welcome to football.london for live coverage of Tottenham's Premier League derby clash with Fulham this afternoon.

Spurs are looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League following the dazzling 4-0 win at Manchester City last weekend. Why Tottenham vs Fulham Premier League clash is not on TV in the UK

Tottenham take on Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Spurs will be looking to build on their impressive win last time out when they beat reigning champions Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad Stiadum.

For head coach Ange Postecoglou and the Tottenham supporters it will be a case of halting the win, lose, win, lose nature of results in the past month or so.

Spurs drew in midweek, conceding an injury-time goal at home to Roma in the Europa League to draw 2-2 having looked on course for three points. Now they're back in Premier League action, with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expected to be packed out for the London derby with the Whites.

But if you've not been able to get a ticket to the clash you will not be able to see the action if you're in the UK. That's because the contest is not being shown on television.

And there's a good reason for that and it comes down to their Thursday night clash with the Italian giants.

Unfortunately for Spurs fans, the game was not chosen for live coverage in the UK when the initial broadcast selections were made. The reason being is because it was originally scheduled for Saturday before it was moved for a Sunday afternoon kick-off due to Spurs' Europa League commitments.

football.london will be in attendance in north London to provide all of the live updates and you can follow all of the action live here as well as post-match reaction and analysis from the clash.

From next season onwards a deal has been done whereby viewers can watch every match live on TV aside from those being played at 3pm on Saturday during the traditional blackout. That will mean all games moved for European matches will be available on television.

Why Dominic Solanke is not in the Tottenham squad to face Fulham in Premier League

Tottenham take on Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and there's one big omission from the squad. Ange Postecoglou is without striker Dominic Solanke for the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Solanke, who signed for £65million in the summer from Bournemouth, missed two games earlier in the season with an ankle injury and did look to pick up a groin injury during Thursday night's Europa League game with Roma.

The frontman has scored six goals and provided three assists so far this season, but will miss the match with Fulham due to illness. The groin injury he appeared to pick up on Thursday did not have an impact, but it is in fact an illness which has seen the England striker miss out.

Speaking ahead of the game head coach Ange Postecoglou said: "He just came in today and he wasn't looking the best. He was under the weather so we sent him home. Hopefully a full recovery and ready to go for the next one."

Captain Son Heung-min will play centrally in his absence, with Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner on the wings. Youngster Will Lankshear is on the bench with Richarlison still out injured.

Postecoglou has made another big call for the London derby with the Whites. Dejan Kulusevski, who has arguably been Spurs' best performer so far this season, is only on the bench, with James Maddison in the midfield three alongside Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

Ange Postecoglou has named the Tottenham team that he believes can make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League as they take on Fulham on Sunday.

Spurs' campaign has been dogged by inconsistency and impressive, dominant victories against Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa have been offset by dismal defeats to the likes of Crystal Palace, Ipswich and a second half collapse at Brighton. A win against Marco Silva's Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon would bring Postecoglou's men a rare set of back-to-back Premier League triumphs.

Postecoglou continues to be without goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore, and was set to make a late decision on Cristian Romero.

The Tottenham vice-captain has not made the squad and neither has Dominic Solanke, who was seen arriving at the stadium but is not in the squad.

"He just came in today and he wasn't looking the best. He was under the weather so we sent him home. Hopefully a full recovery and ready to go for the next one," said Postecoglou.

Postecoglou has made four changes as James Maddison, Destiny Udogie and Yves Bissouma all come back into the side after the midweek draw against Roma as Timo Werner also gets a start. Dejan Kulusevski gets a rest on the bench.

Here's the Tottenham team Postecoglou has chosen to take on the Cottagers on Sunday afternoon:

Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Johnson, Son, Werner. Subs: Austin, Spence, Gray, Reguilon, Olusesi, Kulusevski, Bergvall, Williams-Barnett, Lankshear.

Harry Kane dealt injury blow as former Tottenham star endures more Bayern Munich frustration

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has suffered a fresh injury scare after he was forced off with an injury during Bayern Munich's Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening.

The striker made over 400 appearances for Spurs between 2010 and 2023 but opted to make the move to Germany ahead of the 2023/24 season. Kane is now in his second campaign at Bayern with 64 goals and 21 assists across all competitions in the last year.

However, Vincent Kompany's side had an opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table this weekend as they travelled to face rivals Dortmund. Jamie Gittens opened the scoring for the hosts around the half hour mark, and a few minutes later, matters went from bad to worse for Bayern as Kane was forced off with an injury.

He limped off the pitch with medical staff and was replaced by Thomas Muller with 12 minutes to go before half time. Bayern fought back after the break as Jamal Musiala put the visitors back on level terms late in the game.

The draw means Bayern are just seven points clear of Eintracht Frankfurt, who have an opportunity to reduce the gap to just four points with a victory over Heidenheim on Sunday. For Bayern, they will be sweating over Kane's fitness with a crucial DFB-Pokal round of 16 clash against Bayer Leverkusen to come on Tuesday night.

Ange Postecoglou will be looking for his Tottenham side to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League if they can overcome Fulham on Sunday.

Spurs' season has been dogged by inconsistency and big wins against Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa have been offset by disappointing defeats to the likes of Crystal Palace, Ipswich and a second half collapse at Brighton. A victory against Marco Silva's Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would bring Postecoglou's men a rare set of back-to-back Premier League wins.

Postecoglou is without goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore, and was set to make a late decision on Cristian Romero and much would depend on whether he could train properly on Saturday after his recovery from a toe injury, with the vice-captain deemed an 'unlikely' returnee by the head coach.

The Australian made four changes for the midweek Europa League draw with Roma and he will have to decide who comes back into the starting line-up and who drops out, with James Maddison, Destiny Udogie and Yves Bissouma among those hoping to start.

Here's the Tottenham team we reckon Postecoglou could select to face the Cottagers on Sunday afternoon.

Why Chelsea and Tottenham's Sunday kick-off times are earlier than usual

Premier League action returns this weekend with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur both in action on Sunday afternoon.

Enzo Maresca's Chelsea host Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, while Spurs welcome London rivals Fulham to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Both will be hoping to keep the pace at the top end of the table, with Liverpool currently leading the way on 31 points.

Typically, Sunday afternoon kick-offs get underway at 2pm or 4:30pm, but this weekend the three earlier games begin at 1:30pm, while Liverpool's clash with Manchester City is scheduled for 4pm. While no official reason has been given for the change to the earlier kick-offs, the later game between Liverpool and City has been moved due to its status as a high risk fixture and Merseyside Police's concerns over fan safety.

The earlier games have likely been moved to avoid any crossover with the TV coverage, as Chelsea's game against Villa is also part of Sky Sports' Super Sunday. Chelsea and Villa were both in European action midweek as the hosts secured a 2-0 UEFA Europa Conference League victory over Bundesliga side Heidenheim.

Villa, on the other hand, played out a 0-0 draw against Serie A giants Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday to leave their automatic qualification hopes in the balance. Spurs, who take on Fulham at home this weekend, drew 2-2 with Roma in the Europa League courtesy of goals from Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson.

However, the late equaliser for Claudio Ranieri's side from Mats Hummels leaves Ange Postecoglou's side with work to do to automatically qualify for the knockout stages.
