Tottenham Hotspur wasted the chance to ease their Premier ‌League relegation fears as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty earned Leeds United a 1-1 draw in North London on Monday.

A ‌first home win in the league since ‌December would have put ‌Spurs four points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United with two games left and in sight of salvation.

It ‌looked on the cards when Mathys Tel struck with a stunning effort early in ‌the second half, curling a right-footed shot into the top corner.

But Tel’s night took a turn for the worse as ‌he conceded the penalty that Calvert-Lewin thumped home in the 74th minute.

As Tottenham’s nerves frayed, Leeds had chances to win it ‌in stoppage time but Sean Longstaff’s strike was superbly diverted onto the underside of the bar by goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

The result left 17th-placed Spurs on 38 points ‌with West Ham on 36 after 36 games.

Has Tottenham Hotspur been relegated from Premier League?

No. Tottenham Hotspur is two points above the relegation zone. However, with two rounds left, the chances of getting relegated still remain.

Premier League 2025-26 relegation scenarios: How can Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham stay up after TOT vs LEE? - Sportstar
Description

The final stages of the 2025-26 Premier League season are fast approaching, and both West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are looking to secure their futures in the league.

Tottenham Hotspur’s draw with Leeds United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and West Ham United’s contentious defeat to Arsenal mean that both sides are still in serious danger of losing their top-flight status.

Here is how Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United can still survive relegation:

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham still has its fate in its own hands, leading West Ham by two points with two games to spare. A pair of wins would confirm its safety, while a win and a draw would likely be enough as well given its superior goal difference. Any defeats, however, and it leaves itself reliant on West Ham’s result to be sure of safety.

Remaining fixtures: Chelsea (A), Everton (H)

West Ham United

West Ham United needs Spurs to lose at least once if it is to stay in the league now. Two wins would keep it up if Spurs loses at least once, while a single win would be sufficient if Spurs was to lose twice.

Remaining fixtures: Newcastle United (A), Leeds United (H)

Premier League 2025-26: Tottenham Hotspur collapses against Forest, failing acid test - Sportstar
Description

Tottenham suffered a potentially seismic 3-0 defeat to Premier League relegation rival Nottingham Forest on Sunday, failing to rise to a rallying call from its massed ranks of fans.

Thousands lined the streets to cheer the squad before the crunch fixture in north London, and there was a crackling atmosphere in the ground as kick-off approached.

Spurs bossed the first half, but Forest took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Brazilian forward Igor Jesus headed home a Neco Williams corner.

Forest doubled its lead just after the hour mark when Morgan Gibbs-White finished under Guglielmo Vicario, and substitute Taiwo Awoniyi compounded Tottenham’s misery with a late strike.

The vital win for Vitor Pereira’s men lifts them above Spurs, who are now just one point and one place above the bottom three.

Last year’s Europa League winner is staring at the nightmare prospect of relegation from the top tier of English football for the first time since 1977 unless it can arrest its steep decline.

As if to underline the club’s current plight, a few miles across London, bitter rival Arsenal was gunning for its first trophy of a potential quadruple in the League Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.

Spurs, led by interim boss Igor Tudor, came into Sunday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without a win in the Premier League since late December.

But they were buoyed by last week’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool and a midweek win against Atletico Madrid, even though they exited the Champions League on aggregate.

Fans rally

Fan groups set up an initiative ahead of the game called “Show Up, Sing Up, Stay Up”, calling for supporters to rally.

Fireworks were let off, and a section of fans chanted the name of former boss Mauricio Pochettino before the team bus was serenaded with chants of “Come on you Spurs” as white and blue smoke filled the air.

A message on the stadium screens from captain Cristian Romero said: “We’ll fight for everything, all together.”

Forest, who started the day just outside the drop zone, looked the more dangerous team in the early minutes, but Tottenham settled and started to enjoy the bulk of the possession, with Richarlison heading wide.

However, the home side struggled to create clear-cut chances and paid the price when Jesus put Forest ahead in the 45th minute, meeting Williams’ corner with a bullet header.

Spurs came within a whisker of levelling at the other end, but Forest goalkeeper Matz Selz touched Mathys Tel’s powerful shot onto the crossbar in the dying seconds of the opening period.

As the half wore on, the home fans among the crowd of 61,519 became increasingly edgy.

And they were shocked into silence when Gibbs-White, a target for Spurs in last summer’s transfer window, slotted home in the 62nd minute from Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross.

Tudor made a number of attacking changes, bringing on Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons, but to no avail.

Awoniyi’s goal in the 87th minute sent home fans scurrying for the exits.

The only chink of light for Spurs on Sunday was a 2-0 defeat for West Ham against Aston Villa, which leaves the Hammers in the bottom three.

Tottenham Hotspur banned three supporters on Monday for making Nazi salutes at a UEFA Champions League 2025-26 game in Germany in January.

The club’s move came as UEFA fined Tottenham 30,000 euros ($35,000) on a charge of “racist and/or discriminatory behaviour” for the gestures during a 2-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt last month.

“We can confirm that all three individuals found to be making Nazi salutes towards Eintracht Frankfurt fans have been identified and have received indefinite bans,” Tottenham said.

“The disgusting behaviour of a minority of so-called fans on the night is in no way reflective of the values of our club and its supporters,” it added.

Spurs also was fined 2,250 euros ($2,600) for fans throwing objects.

UEFA deferred a one-game ban on the Europa League titleholder selling tickets to fans for an away game in European competitions for a probationary period of one year.

Tottenham next plays at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 on March 10.

Tottenham loses 1-2 to Newcastle as sack looms for Spurs manager Thomas Frank - Sportstar
Description

Victory for Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday lifted pressure off manager Eddie Howe, but left counterpart Thomas Frank’s future looking increasingly precarious.

Newcastle won 2-1 for only its third ‌away victory in the Premier League season, moving up to 10th place in the table and ending a run of three successive defeats.

Malick Thiaw opened the scoring for the Magpies in first-half stoppage time, but Archie Gray equalised after the hour mark. However, Jacob Ramsey restored the lead within five minutes.

Newcastle manager Howe had said after his side’s home loss to Brentford that he would step aside if he did not ‌believe he was the right man for the club. But Tuesday’s win means talk about a possible departure will be ‌tempered.

But for Frank, the future looks bleak unless he can ‌quickly turn things around.

Tottenham supporters left no doubt about their feelings at the end of the encounter with jeers ringing out around the stadium as their side suffered an 11th league defeat since the manager arrived from Brentford, slipping to 16th in the ‌table and closer to the relegation zone.

“It’s been better, of course. It hurts massively that we couldn’t get the win today,” said Frank.

“I understand the frustration and the easiest thing is to ‌point at me. That’s part of the job, unfortunately. I will work day and night to turn this around, but it is not just one person. There is no doubt we need to improve, and I need to be part of that,” he added.

But he said he had spoken to ‌the club’s owners on the eve of the game and was confident his job was safe despite Spurs’ winless run in the league stretching to eight games.

Frank now has the lowest win percentage of any Spurs manager in the Premier League era, with a win rate of just 26.9 per cent and it also does not get ‌any easier for him as his side play a derby against North London rival and league leader Arsenal next on Sunday, February 22.

“We need to be doing better, and the next game will be another tough one. We’ve got time to get that right, but we’ve got great players on the team,” said Spurs striker Dominic Solanke.

“We don’t want to be anywhere near the ‌bottom of the table, but we know we can turn it around. It’s a matter of when. We have a while until the next game now,” he added.

Romero aims dig at Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy after defeat against Bournemouth - Sportstar
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s captain Cristian Romero has taken a dig at the club’s hierarchy ‍after players were seen arguing with fans following a 3-2 Premier League defeat at Bournemouth.

Defeat on Wednesday ‌left Tottenham in 14th place in the table, piling pressure on manager Thomas Frank, and disgruntled fans let the players know their feelings, with the likes of Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro involved in verbal exchanges.

Argentina’s World-Cup winning defender Romero apologised to the fans in a social media post and suggested it should not be the players having to front up to the supporters.

“We are responsible, there’s no doubt about that. But we will keep facing up to it and trying to turn the situation around, for ourselves and for the club,” he said.

“At times like this, it should be other people coming ‌out to speak, but they don’t -- as has ‌been happening for several years now. They only show up when things are going ‍well,” he added.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy stepped down as executive chairman in September after 25 years with chief executive ‍Vinai Venkatesham taking on the day-to-day running of the club.

It was not clear who Romero was referring to in his Instagram post in which he apologised to the fans for another defeat in what is turning into a disappointing season.

But the 27-year-old insisted the players will stick together and try to emerge from the current slump, which has seen them win only twice in their last 12 Premier League games.

“We’ll stay here, working, sticking together and giving our all to turn things around. Especially at times like this, keeping quiet, working harder and moving forward all together, is part of football,” he said.

Tottenham hosts Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

Premier League 2025-26: Fulham pips Tottenham; Newcastle thrashes Everton 4-1 - Sportstar
Description

Tottenham’s woeful Premier League home form continued as Fulham claimed its first away victory of the season with a 2-1 win on Saturday, thanks to early goals by Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson.

Tete’s deflected shot put the visitors ahead after four minutes, and two minutes later, Wilson took advantage of Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s mistake with a stunning second.

Fulham should have been home and dry before halftime, with Samuel Chukwueze denied by the post and then by a goal-saving tackle by Micky van de Ven as Tottenham wobbled.

But the host side was a different proposition after the break and dominated the game after Mohammed Kudus halved the deficit in the 59th minute with a powerful dipping shot.

Tottenham was unable to salvage anything, though and has not won a home league match since the opening weekend.

It is in 10th place on 18 points, while 15th-placed Fulham, which had lost its last five away league games, moved six points above the relegation zone.

Magpies get the better of Everton

Malick Thiaw scored the fastest goal of the Premier League season after 55 seconds as Newcastle United recorded a first away win of the campaign with a 4-1 success over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.

Lewis Miley and Nick Woltemade added two more in the first half as Newcastle led 3-0 at the break, before Thiaw bagged his second as the visiting side took advantage of more poor defending from its host.

Newcastle moved into 11th in the table with 18 points from 13 games, while Everton also has 18 points but is in 14th place, having conceded four goals for the first time at its new stadium on the banks of the River Mersey.

It was the perfect 48th birthday present for Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, a boyhood Everton fan, despite a superb goal for the host from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Premier League 2025-26: Eze’s hat-trick helps Arsenal thrash Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 - Sportstar
Description

Eberechi Eze scored a majestic hat-trick for Arsenal as it trounced north London rival Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 to open up a commanding six-point lead at the top of the Premier League on Sunday.

For 36 minutes, the derby was a cagey contest with Tottenham frustrating Mikel Arteta’s side, but the host struck three times in 10 minutes either side of halftime.

Leandro Trossard broke the deadlock from close range before Eze, the player Arsenal snatched in a summer transfer tussle with Tottenham, rifled in Arsenal’s second after 41 minutes.

The second half was only seconds old when Eze again found space on the edge of the area to dispatch another shot inside the post and put his side in complete control.

Tottenham got a lifeline out of the blue in stunning fashion in the 55th minute when Richarlison lobbed Arsenal keeper David Raya from near the centre circle.

ALSO READ | Premier League: Rogers double catapults Aston Villa into top four

The visitor was more of a threat in the second half, but Arsenal never really looked troubled, and Eze completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute with another clinical finish.

Arsenal, unbeaten in nine league games, has 29 points from 12 games, with second-placed Chelsea on 23. Tottenham’s first away league defeat of the season left it ninth on 18 points.

Eze was at the centre of a summer transfer battle between the two north London clubs, with Arsenal scooping the former Crystal Palace forward from under the noses of its rival.

If that was not bad enough, the England international rubbed Tottenham’s noses in it on Sunday as he lit up his first north London derby in scintillating fashion.

Tottenham had been impressive away from home under new manager Thomas Frank, with no defeats and only three goals conceded in the Premier League before Sunday.

Frank set his side up conservatively for his first taste of the derby with containment not entertainment on his mind.

Three central defenders, two holding midfielders and deep full-backs restricted Arsenal to just one real chance in the opening half an hour with Eze’s scooped pass met on the volley by Declan Rice and Guglielmo Vicario saving well.

AS IT HAPPENED - ARS VS TOT HIGHLIGHTS

Vicario was not called into serious action again until the 33rd minute when he sprang to his right to keep out a Bukayo Saka free kick.

But the breakthrough came soon after as, for once, Arsenal found space in the Tottenham area with Mikel Merino’s chipped pass controlled by Trossard with his back to goal.

The Belgian took a touch and his shot on the turn nicked off Micky van de Ven to give Vicario no chance.

Tottenham’s negative game plan was in tatters when Eze turned on the edge of the area and fired a low shot through a crowd and beyond Vicario.

The visitor sent on attacking midfielder Xavi Simons at halftime, but within seconds of the restart, it was effectively all over as a contest, as once again Eze was allowed too much time and he thrashed a shot past Vicario.

Tottenham had not landed a glove on Arsenal for 55 minutes but scored with its first shot on target as Joao Palhinha won the ball just inside Arsenal’s half and Richarlison, spotting Raya off his line, floated a 45-metre shot into the net.

It maintained Tottenham’s record of scoring in every away derby at Arsenal since 2017 and for a while it was re-energised.

But any hope of a comeback ended when Eze yet again found space and his finish was sublime.
