Spurs loanee top of impressive stat

The progression of Luka Vuskovic during his loan at KVC Westerlo has been well covered. The 17-year old starts every single week, plays 90 minutes every single week. One Croatian media outlet described him as a player that "comes around every 100 years". The Guardian named him in their list of the best players born in 2007.

On loan Tottenham Hotspur youngster top of particular stat

So far this campaign, the defender averages over one interception per game, over five ball recoveries per game, and over 3.5 aerial duels per game. However, it is not his defensive qualities that having him topping this stat. With good competition from Westerlo team mate Alfie Devine, and George Abbott at Notts County, he is probably having the best loan spell of any Spurs player so far this season.

Quite the opposite, in fact. The Croatian U21 international is the highest scoring teenager in Europe's top 10 leagues, with six goals in just 20 league games. This puts him ahead of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, who has five - and other highly rated teenagers, such as Vitor Roque. The most recent of which was in an incredible overhead kick against Club Brugge.

Pretty good company to be in, you have to say. At the moment, Vuskovic is averaging 1.3 shots per game in the Belgian Pro League, so these numbers are no fluke. He is a consistent threat from set pieces every game for Westerlo. Should he eventually become a part of the first team in North London, his threat in both boxes will be massive and a big upgrade on the current situation in that regard.

Owing to his performances over in Belgium, some people are hoping that will come as quickly as this month. However, for anybody who thinks this, and needs to know - this is not possible. Due to Brexit rules, the teenager can not join Spurs until the summer, where he will have turned 18. He is officially at Westerlo on loan from Hadjuk Split, rather than Tottenham, as a result of having been unable to join yet.

From the summer onwards, it will be very interesting to see how the club uses him. Will he be part of the first team picture - or perhaps a loan to a top five league as the next step of his development? There is certainly no rush, but either way - this will not happen until the summer.

Spurs defender to miss 6

Description

As per the ever reliable Paul O Keefe, Tottenham Hotspur left-back Destiny Udogie's return from injury is estimated at "six to ten weeks", further adding to the absolutely ridiculous injury crisis that Spurs currently have, particularly in defence.

Tottenham somehow given yet another injury blow in defence

The Italian international had to be withdrawn early in the second half against Wolves, resulting in Sergio Reguilon playing his first meaningful minutes for the club since April of 2022, against Brighton and Hove Albion under Antonio Conte.

In a best case scenario - at six weeks - the defender would miss; Newcastle United (home), Liverpool (home, Carabao Cup), Tamworth (away, FA Cup), Arsenal and Everton (away), Hoffenheim (away, Europa League), Leicester City (home), Elfsborg, (home, Europa League), Brentford (away), Liverpool (away, Carabao Cup), and a potential FA Cup fourth round game.

That is in a best case scenario too. It isn't even worth looking at the games he would miss if he was out of action for 10 weeks. You have to laugh or else you will cry. Just when you think the current situation could not get any worse. Whilst Djed Spence has filled in admirably at left-back, there surely has to be a dip into the market now. Spurs have to bring someone in, they just have to. It would be gross neglience if not - though that is something we have seen many times in the past.

Realistically, the only first team, 100% fit defenders that the club currently have are Djed Spence and Pedro Porro, and the latter is pretty exhausted anyway. Radu Dragusin may have played in the draw against Wolves last weekend, but it was clear he was not fit.

Should Spurs not sign a left-back this window, they are risking Reguilon having to play a significant part. There is Spence, and he will surely be the first-choice left-back as it stands, but you have to be careful. Going from not playing at all to playing every game will be tough for his body to take, and we could end up seeing yet another injury.

Furthermore, he will be needed at times in his actual position at right-back. Having him, Porro, and a new left-back may just about do until Udogie is back from this injury. Tottenham haven't even played a game in 2025 and they've somehow already made it an annoying start to the year. When it rains it truly does pour at the moment.

Finally, Spence is not registered for the remaining games in the Europa League anyway. So, unless someone is signed before then - it will have to be Reguilon there against Hoffenheim and Elfsborg.

Spurs show interest in AC Milan defender

According to a report from TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur have internally discussed the possibility of signing central defender Fikayo Tomori during the transfer window next month, with Ange Postecoglu wanting a new player in that position.

Tottenham interested in England international from Serie A

They report that Spurs are not the only clubs interested in the defender, with Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford, and West Ham United said to be "firm admiders."

In January of 2021, Tomori was handpicked by then sporting director Paolo Maldini, the best co-sign you could get in football as a defender. After a successful loan, he made the permanent switch from Chelsea to Milan that summer, and played 31 times the following season, as the Italian giants secured their first league title in over ten years.

However, things have not been so smooth of late. The defender has not started a Serie A game since the 6th of October, totalling just 31 minutes of game time since then - albeit he has been playing regularly in the Champions League.

There could be a turning point for the recently turned 27-year old, as Milan made the move to part ways with Paulo Fonseca, replacing him with former Porto manager Sergio Conceicao. We will have to see if his game time improves under the new manager.

Although he eventually found his game time limited, Tomori was a regular for Chelsea at the beginning of the 19/20 season, making 14 starts before the new year, and scoring their goal of the season in a win at Wolves. That coupled with his Champions League experience should ease any fear fans may have of the step up to the Premier League.

It is more a question of does he have enough quality in general. He is not the most physical of defenders, and can be a target for big opposition strikers. His passing is average, although not as bad as someone like Radu Dragusin.

However, his best attribute could be maximised at Spurs - Tomori is extremely fast, and would be very much suited to playing in an Ange Postecoglu high line in that regard. This would be particularly useful when Micky van de Ven is unavailable.

The idea of a move could be attracting, even if he does see his minutes improve at Milan. He grew up in London from the age of one, and has only been capped five times by England - he may see moving to the Premier League as a chance of being able to make future squads.

Spurs to make decision on pair of loanees

Description

In recent weeks, we have seen a really fruitful run of games for Tottenham Hotspur youngsters Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley, during their loan spells at League One side Leyton Orient. During this period, Orient have rapidly moved up the table, and now sit in 8th place, just five points off the play-off positions.Â

Spurs to make a decision on two promising young players

Owing to this exceptional run of form, there has been interest from higher up the pyramid. Alasdair Gold has suggested that Spurs have been left with “big decisions to make” ahead of what to do with each player ahead of the second half of the season. Do you leave them where they are, playing every week, or try and test them at a higher level?Â

The answer to this one feels clear – keep them where they are. There is no reason to disrupt their development. If you can find a Championship side that can guarantee them both game time – maybe? That doesn’t feel likely though, and if it was possible – it would probably be for a team who loses a lot more than they win. Is that better than what they have at the moment?Â

Plus, truth be told – nobody can ‘guarantee’ game time. It even took Keeley and Donley both a while to get into the Orient XI on a regular basis. Now they’re both thriving, it feels too risky to break that up, at this current moment in time. Â

We have seen Keeley make club history (along with his defence), as the O’s have now kept a club record seven clean sheets in a row. The last time the goalkeeper conceded a goal was on the 30th of November, where he scored a goal to keep his side in the FA Cup. He has also since registered an assist, in the 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic. Â

Meanwhile, Donley has really made the number ten spot his own. The midfielder scored and assisted in the win at Barnsley, played a defence splitting pass for one of the goals against Crawley, and scored in the win at home to Cambridge United – all in the last three games. Â

There really is no rush. We can be quick to forget just how young 19 is for a senior player. Allowing Donley to complete this season with Orient, before a season-long-loan to the Championship at 20 next season – feels like the sensible thing to do.Â

As for Keeley – he is 21, but, perhaps has even more time on his side. Keepers are known for lasting and peaking later than outfield players. With the added prominence of sports science in recent years, that gap has perhaps got a bit smaller – but it still feels like 21 for a goalkeeper is the same as being 18 or 19 for an outfielder.Â

Tottenham eye £80m Premier League star to solve defensive injury crisis

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are actively scouring the January transfer market to address their growing concerns at the back.

With injuries piling up, the club’s once-solid defensive line has been significantly weakened, leaving manager Ange Postecoglou to navigate through uncharted waters.

The North London outfit have seen a dip in form in recent weeks, and fans are eager for reinforcements that could stabilise the ship.

Speculation is rife as several names emerge as potential targets for Spurs, but the Lilywhites must tread carefully to ensure they make the right moves in January.

Reports now suggest Tottenham have identified a Premier League defender who could offer the experience and stability they so desperately need.

With the transfer window edging closer, the club’s next steps will be crucial in determining their season’s trajectory.

Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite on Tottenham's Radar

According to The Mail on Sunday, Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has become a key target for Tottenham.

With Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, and Micky van de Ven all sidelined due to injuries, the North Londoners are in dire need of a defensive boost.

The report highlights that Spurs have initiated discussions within their hierarchy, identifying Branthwaite as one of four centre-back options to shore up their defence in January.

However, the move won’t be straightforward, with competition brewing from other Premier League sides eyeing the 22-year-old.

Branthwaite, who has impressed at Everton, still has over two years remaining on his current deal. The Toffees, now under new ownership, are reportedly keen to retain the centre-back, viewing him as a cornerstone of their long-term plans.

Adding to Tottenham’s challenge is the defender’s reported valuation of £80m, a steep figure that underscores his importance to Everton’s ambitions.

A high-stakes gamble for Spurs

Tottenham’s interest in Branthwaite highlights the urgency of their defensive crisis, but the move comes with some complexities.

Everton, while open to sales to fund their own transfer activity, may be reluctant to part with such a crucial player.

Postecoglou already faces a juggling act with makeshift solutions at the back, relying on less experienced players like Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray.

Securing Branthwaite would undoubtedly strengthen the squad, but the club must weigh the high cost against their other pressing needs in midfield and attack.

The German coach who could replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur could be considering a managerial change in the near future, with Edin Terzic emerging as a potential candidate.

While current boss Ange Postecoglou remains at the helm for now, speculation about Terzic’s future in North London has sparked interest, especially after a surprising revelation from Besiktas presidential candidate Serdal Adali.

The German coach could be a potential fit for Spurs, but it may also prove to be another gamble for the club.

Is Edin Terzic the right man for Tottenham?

As quoted by The Spurs Web, speaking to the Turkish media, Serdal Adalit said that the 42-year-old German has certainly caught the attention of top clubs in Europe, including Tottenham.

Despite his relatively limited experience as a player, Terzic has carved out a reputation as a forward-thinking coach with a strong tactical vision.

His coaching journey began with Borussia Dortmund in 2010, where he worked as a scout and youth coach under Jurgen Klopp.

Later, he spent time as an assistant coach at Besiktas and West Ham before returning to Dortmund, where he briefly served as interim manager in 2020 and guided the team to the DFB-Pokal trophy.

Terzic’s tenure at Dortmund marked the start of his rise in the coaching world. In 2021, he was appointed as the permanent head coach of the Bundesliga club.

During his time at Dortmund, Terzic came very close to winning the Bundesliga, narrowly losing out to Bayern Munich on goal difference in the 2022-2023 season.

Tactical approach and Spurs' potential fit

Terzic is known for his preference for a possession-based style of play. His teams typically line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with one defensive midfielder and two attacking midfielders.

The coach’s expansive use of full-backs to create width and break opposition presses is a hallmark of his system.

However, when facing stronger teams, Terzic has shown adaptability, opting for a more pragmatic, counter-attacking approach.

At Tottenham, Terzic’s tactical ideas could align well with the team’s need for a more progressive, modern style.

But the question remains: does he have the experience needed to manage a club like Spurs, especially in the high-pressure environment of the Premier League?

While reports indicate that Tottenham have not yet considered sacking Postecoglou, the potential arrival of Terzic could mark a significant turning point for the club.

If Spurs are indeed targeting him, it would be a bold move, but one that could bring fresh ideas and an exciting new era to North London.

Report: Sergio Reguilon set for a quick Tottenham exit

Description

Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon could be set for a dramatic January exit as the Spanish left-back looks to salvage a career that has stalled in North London.

Once a promising signing, Reguilon’s time at Spurs has been marred by injuries, managerial changes, and a lack of consistent playing time.

With his current contract nearing its conclusion, both the player and the club appear ready for a change.

For Reguilon, it’s a chance to rekindle his form elsewhere, while Tottenham could use the opportunity to streamline their squad and recoup some value from a player who no longer fits their plans.

Sergio Reguilon could soon part ways with Tottenham

As reports from Cadena Ser suggest, a move back to Spain might be on the cards for the 28-year-old defender. The January transfer window looms large as the pivotal moment to determine his future.

This season has been one to forget for Reguilon, who has only made a single appearance for Tottenham.

That lone outing, a brief cameo against Wolves, came as a result of an injury to first-choice left-back Destiny Udogie.

Apart from that, the Spaniard has been largely absent from matchday squads, a clear sign of his diminishing role under Ange Postecoglou.

The Spaniard joined Tottenham in 2020 for £27.5 million following an impressive loan spell at Sevilla, where he was instrumental in their Europa League triumph.

However, his promising start in North London quickly faded. Injuries disrupted his momentum, and the arrival of new managers with differing tactical philosophies only made it harder for him to establish a foothold.

Cadena Ser reports that several clubs in Spain, including Sevilla, Getafe, and Valladolid, are monitoring his situation.

Sevilla, where Reguilón enjoyed great success during the 2019/20 season, seems to be the frontrunner.

Meanwhile, Getafe and Valladolid are also exploring the possibility of signing him, with Getafe reportedly considering a free transfer offer.

Why the move makes sense

Selling Reguilon in January is a pragmatic decision. With his contract expiring in the summer, the club risks losing him on a free transfer if no deal is made during the window.

Offloading him would also create room for new signings, potentially ones better suited to Postecoglou’s high-energy system.

For Reguilon, a return to Spain would offer much-needed stability and playing time. Sevilla, in particular, could provide the perfect platform for him to rediscover his form and confidence.

Whether he can replicate his earlier success remains to be seen, but a fresh start seems crucial for both the player and Tottenham.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham’s continued backing of Ange Postecoglou

Description

Tottenham’s Premier League season has been far from ideal, and questions about the club's trajectory have only grown louder.

Under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have shown flashes of brilliance, but inconsistency has plagued their campaign.

Despite the challenges, the club’s hierarchy appears resolute in their decision to back the Australian manager.

Fans continue to debate whether this faith is well-placed, with the January transfer window looming large, potentially shaping the rest of the season for the North London outfit.

The upcoming months may mark a turning point for Postecoglou and his team.

Tottenham currently sits 11th in the Premier League, a stark reminder of their struggles this season. With just 24 points from 19 matches, the team’s inconsistent form has raised concerns among fans and pundits alike.

Tottenham reaffirms trust in Ange Postecoglou

According to Fabrizio Romano, the club remains committed to Postecoglou’s leadership despite the turbulent campaign.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT, "It’s obviously a difficult situation, but what I’m hearing is that Tottenham keep supporting and trusting Ange Postecoglou. The January window is going to be important. Obviously, they need to do something."

Key injuries have undoubtedly played a significant role in Spurs’ underwhelming performances.

First-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been sidelined since November, while defenders Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Ben Davies have also been unavailable, leaving Tottenham’s defence stretched to its limits.

To compensate, Postecoglou has had to rely on a makeshift pairing of Radu Dragusin and summer signing Archie Gray at the back.

The injury crisis hasn’t been confined to the defence, with attackers Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, and promising academy player Micky Moore also out of action.

These setbacks have limited Postecoglou’s tactical options, making an already challenging campaign even more difficult.

Glimmers of hope

Despite their league struggles, Tottenham have shown promise in cup competitions. The team is fighting for a place in the Europa League knockout stages and secured a morale-boosting Carabao Cup semi-final berth after defeating Manchester United.

These successes provide hope that the club can still achieve something meaningful this season.

Tottenham’s decision to back Postecoglou reflects a commitment to long-term stability. With the January transfer window approaching, the club has an opportunity to address its weaknesses and provide the manager with the resources needed to turn things around.

While doubts remain, Spurs’ leadership is betting on Postecoglou’s ability to guide the team through this challenging period, laying the groundwork for a more consistent and successful future.

Tottenham winger Wilson Odobert provides recovery update

Tottenham Hotspur’s Wilson Odobert has been out of action for several months following a hamstring injury that required surgery.

The 20-year-old winger has been working hard on his rehabilitation, and recently shared a glimpse of his recovery progress with fans.

His injury setback came shortly after his £30 million move from Burnley, and Spurs fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on his return.

After making only three Premier League appearances, Odobert’s season took a turn for the worse when he suffered a hamstring injury during a Carabao Cup match against Coventry in September.

Although he made a brief return to action in the Europa League against AZ Alkmaar in late October, he aggravated the injury, necessitating surgery.

Wilson Odobert could make his return to action

According to Football London, Tottenham confirmed the surgery and reassured fans that the young Frenchman would continue to be monitored closely during his recovery.

Odobert’s surgery, which was carried out at The Princess Grace Hospital in London, required a substantial recovery period.

The club’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, made it clear that Odobert would be sidelined for a significant portion of the season.

Despite the lengthy recovery time, Odobert remains focused on getting back to full fitness. He posted an encouraging update on social media, sharing a picture of himself wearing boots and kit at Tottenham's Hotspur Way training complex.

This update suggests that he has started working outdoors, marking the first step in his journey to returning to full training.

While this is a positive sign for the young winger, Odobert’s return is expected to take time, especially considering the setbacks faced by other players like Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies, who have also struggled with hamstring injuries this season.

Tottenham will be cautious with Odobert’s rehabilitation to avoid further complications, particularly after his previous setbacks.

What does the future hold for Wilson Odobert?

Despite the injury woes, Odobert showed flashes of his potential during his brief appearances earlier in the season.

His £30 million price tag means Tottenham will be eager to see him fulfil his promise once he is fully fit.

The club is likely to take a measured approach to his recovery, ensuring he is not rushed back into action too soon. Supporters can look forward to his return, hoping that the young winger can provide the spark Tottenham need once he is back to his best.

Odobert’s journey back to fitness will be an important one, and it will be interesting to see how he performs when he finally makes his full return to the squad.

With his talent and potential, he could prove to be a valuable asset for Spurs in the future.

Min Son will not stay at Tottenham

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s captain, Heung-Min Son, has long been a crucial part of the club’s success, but recent performances have raised doubts about his future at Spurs.

Despite his historic contributions, there is now speculation that this season could be Son’s last in North London.

Former player and pundit Tony Cascarino believes that unless Son experiences a significant revival in form, he might face an unexpected exit when the season ends.

Son has been one of the Premier League's most consistent and exciting attackers, but his recent performances have been less than stellar.

The 32-year-old seems to have lost some of the explosive pace that defined his early years at Spurs, and his goal-scoring touch has also appeared to desert him.

Tottenham captain may not remain at the club

With his contract expiring next summer and questions surrounding his role at Tottenham, Cascarino has weighed in with his views on the situation.

Cascarino has suggested that Tottenham might not take up their option to extend Son’s contract for another year, a decision that would come as a surprise given his legacy at the club.

On talkSPORT, Cascarino said, "I don't think Son will stay at Spurs. No, I don't. I think it's one of them that you've got to make a big call on as well. He's been brilliant for them over the years, but it's time to move on in football sometimes."

Despite the murmurs of a potential exit, the forward’s future could still depend on his performances for the rest of the season.

Cascarino added that if Son can rediscover his form in the second half of the season, he could earn another contract extension. "He will survive, or they would definitely keep him, if he had a second part of the season that was superb," he said.

Can Heung-Min Son turn his form around?

If Tottenham decides to part ways with Son, they would need to activate the one-year extension to sell him, ensuring they don’t lose the player on a free transfer.

His form will be key in the coming months, with Spurs needing a resurgent performance to justify extending his stay.

Son has a proven track record, and while his form has dipped, there’s no doubt he remains capable of bouncing back with another strong goal-scoring campaign.

Ultimately, Tottenham’s decision will hinge on what Son can deliver in the coming months. Now, fans will be hoping that the captain can rediscover his best form and prove his worth once more.
