Tottenham Hotspur fans are buzzing with speculation as the January transfer window approaches, and one name has risen to the top of their wish list: Julian Brandt.

The Borussia Dortmund star could be the solution to Spurs' current struggles, but will the club make a move now or wait until the summer?

Manager Ange Postecoglou is facing mounting pressure after recent Premier League setbacks, and reinforcements are desperately needed.

Injuries have left the squad stretched thin, raising questions about whether Spurs will act quickly to bring in new talent.

Daniel Levy may delay securing Julian Brandt on a free transfer

The situation at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is tense, and fans are eager for clarity. A German international could be the key to turning things around for Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham’s interest in Julian Brandt has been reported by FootballTransfers, with the club eyeing the 28-year-old midfielder as a potential January signing.

Brandt’s contract with Borussia Dortmund expires in the summer, but former Spurs scout Bryan King believes chairman Daniel Levy might hold off until then to secure him on a free transfer.

"He’s a good player, Brandt," King told Tottenham News. "We’re talking about a quality player, a German international. If Spurs have the chance to sign him, and he wants to come to England, then they should absolutely do it. It’s a shame they can’t bring him in this January."

King also criticised Levy’s frugality, suggesting that waiting to save money could harm the team’s chances this season.

"I would certainly be looking for Spurs to be signing somebody of that quality. However, we’re talking about Mr. Levy here. If he can get a player for free, he will wait.” he added.

What could Julian Brandt offer Tottenham?

With injuries piling up and Postecoglou’s squad running on fumes, January could be a pivotal moment for Tottenham’s season.

The German international would bring creativity and depth to the midfield, offering much-needed support as Spurs aim to recover from their recent dip in form.

Here are Julian Brandt's statistics for the 2024/25 season.

* Data provided by Sofascore.

Levy’s cautious approach may save the club money in the long run, but it risks alienating fans and leaving the team vulnerable.

Will Spurs act decisively or risk falling further behind in their quest for success? The clock is ticking, and all eyes are on North London.

Ange Postecoglou aims to strengthen his attack after 'frustration' with Richarlison

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a promising start under manager Ange Postecoglou, but challenges are looming as the January transfer window approaches.

With an eye on maintaining their momentum, the North London side is grappling with a pressing issue: depth in their attacking options.

The first half of the season has exposed cracks in Tottenham’s front line. While their style of play has captivated fans, the lack of consistent firepower has raised concerns.

Speculation is swirling as supporters and pundits alike debate who Tottenham might target to bolster their attack.

Postecoglou, known for his pragmatic yet ambitious approach, faces the task of navigating both injuries and performance gaps in his squad.

Ange Postecoglou expresses frustration with Richarlison

Tottenham’s attacking struggles are no secret. Despite investing in Dominic Solanke during the summer, the former Bournemouth forward has delivered mixed results.

While his overall contribution has been solid, his goal tally has not been sufficient to shoulder the team’s scoring burden.

Adding to the complexity is the situation with Richarlison. The Brazilian, known for his dynamic play, has been plagued by injuries this season.

As quoted by Football London, Postecoglou recently expressed his frustration with the striker’s inconsistent availability, saying: "With Richarlison it has been frustrating because I see the potential in him and to be fair when he's been fit he's always made an impact.

That's what you kind of hold on to, but there's no doubt we need some bolstering in that front third over the next couple of transfer windows."

What could be the solution to Ange Postecoglou’s system

The January window presents an opportunity, but also a challenge. Spurs must identify and secure a player who can complement Solanke, mitigate Richarlison’s absence, and adapt quickly to Postecoglou’s system.

Tottenham have been prolific in front of goal this season, but Postecoglou hinted that Richarlison’s inconsistent availability has prompted him to evaluate the need for reinforcements in the attack.

Postecoglou’s comments highlight a broader issue. “Dom (Solanke) coming in has been great, but again we can’t overload him either, because ultimately, even if he stays fit and nothing happens, performance will invariably drop if his energy levels drop. So it’s something we’re aware of and need to plan for,” he explained.

Tottenham’s aspirations for a top-four finish hinge on getting this right. Balancing squad depth while maintaining performance will be critical.

With potential exits, such as Richarlison’s, also on the table, January could prove pivotal in shaping the rest of their campaign.

Tottenham could land Fiorentina defender for half his original price

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be reigniting their interest in Fiorentina's young talent Michael Kayode.

The 20-year-old right-back has been on Spurs’ radar for some time, but earlier attempts to secure his signature hit a stumbling block.

With January approaching, Tottenham’s defensive options could see a shake-up, and Kayode’s name is back in the mix.

Tottenham linked with Michael Kayode once again

The north London club is reportedly seeking to bolster its squad, particularly in defence, as speculation grows around potential outgoings.

According to Firenze Viola, circumstances have shifted, with Fiorentina now willing to consider offers of around €15 million in January—half the original valuation.

This revised price could make Kayode an attractive proposition for Spurs. The Italian club's willingness to negotiate reflects a changing strategy, potentially influenced by their squad dynamics or financial needs.

Kayode, a promising figure in Serie A, could fit the bill. His dynamic style and versatility seem well-suited for a Premier League side eager to build for the future.

The question now is whether Tottenham will finally seal the deal. With reports suggesting a significant change in the transfer landscape, the timing could hardly be better.

Kayode was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham during the summer transfer window. Fiorentina, however, demanded a steep €30 million, a price deemed too high by Spurs at the time.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are reportedly considering taking advantage of the opportunity to strengthen their defensive depth.

How could Michael Kayode's signing benefit Tottenham

If signed, Kayode would likely start as an understudy to Pedro Porro, the current first-choice right-back.

Porro’s name has been linked with Real Madrid in recent months, sparking concerns about his future at the club. Should Porro depart, Kayode could step into the role long-term.

At just 20 years old, Kayode represents a blend of potential and polish. His performances in Serie A have caught the attention of scouts across Europe, with many praising his speed, ball control, and ability to contribute defensively and offensively.

Joining a Premier League side like Tottenham would offer Kayode a platform to develop further. Regular exposure to English football, coupled with top-tier coaching, could accelerate his growth.

Spurs, too, stand to benefit from nurturing a player who could secure their defensive line for years to come.

All eyes will be on whether Tottenham makes their move. With Fiorentina now open to negotiations, the path is clearer than ever for Spurs to land one of Serie A’s rising stars.

Loan watch: Brilliant day for youngster in League Two

On Boxing Day, there was a full slate of English Football League action – including in League Two. As a result, Spurs loanee George Abbott and his Notts County side faced MK Dons on the road – in a bag clash towards the top end of the league. Â

Incredible day all round for young Tottenham Hotspur loanee

For this game, Abbott was again named in the starting XI by manager Stuart Maynard, where he, as tends to be the case, played next to captain Matt Palmer in a midfield two. Â

The first half was a much of a muchness, with just a combined six shots for both teams, and only one on target – with the sides going into the break goalless. Â

However, twelve minutes into the second half, Abbott received the ball inside the box, before dribbling past his marker, steadying himself for a shot – before firing into the back of the net via a deflection, for his first ever senior league goal. An incredible moment for him. Â

With just under twenty minutes remaining, Notts doubled their lead – before seeing the game out to ensure an impressive 2-0 win on the road. Their hosts had only lost one league game at home since the 12th of October. The young midfielder’s first ever senior goal in all comps came in a defeat, so it is great to see this one come in a win. Â

Aside from his goal, it was another impressive performance from Abbott, who recorded; 84 touches, 66/70 passes, 1/1 successful dribble attempts, two clearances and two interceptions. Another 90 minutes in the tank to take his league minutes up to 1309 minutes for this season. Â

This win keeps Notts in a play-off position, as they occupy 7th place. They are now just three points below Port Vale in second place, with a game in hand – and better goal difference. Â

Shows how useful a good week can be, with Notts closer to 12th place before their 3-0 win at home to Bradford City last week. Two wins, five goals, and two clean sheets later – things are looking much better. Â

Next up for Abbott and his counterparts is a trip to Gloucestershire to face Cheltenham Town on the 29th – their final game of 2024. Let’s hope (the first half of) 2025 can be just as fruitful for the Spurs loanee – and that Notts can continue to push for promotion to the third tier. Â

Tottenham loanee named a perfect fit for MLS team

As the January transfer window approaches, speculation around Tottenham Hotspur loanees continues to grow.

Among those in the spotlight is Manor Solomon, currently on loan at Leeds United from Spurs.

His performances in the Championship have been catching the eye, and some have begun to suggest that a move to Major League Soccer could be the perfect next step in his career.

Solomon’s time at Tottenham has been less than stellar, with the Israeli winger struggling to break into the first team after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023.

After a series of underwhelming performances, he was loaned out to Leeds United, where he’s been enjoying a resurgence. Given the rise in his form and the uncertain future at Spurs, many are beginning to discuss his next move.

Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon named a perfect fit for San Diego FC

While there have been no formal reports linking Solomon with a move to MLS, one well-known San Diego FC-focused outlet, Chrome and Azul, has named him as an ideal addition for the American side.

As the club gears up for their first season in the league, they’ve identified the 25-year-old as a perfect fit for their ambitious plans.

His speed, creativity, and recent form in the Championship could be exactly what San Diego FC need to make a statement in their inaugural MLS campaign.

Solomon has made a significant impact at Leeds, with six goal contributions (three goals and three assists) in just 16 league matches this season.

His performances have been described as a "promising resurgence," showing his potential to shine away from Spurs.

With his contract at Tottenham set to expire in 2025, a fresh start in MLS could provide a perfect opportunity for him to re-establish himself.

Why MLS might be the right move for Solomon

Given his uncertain future at Spurs and his success in the Championship, MLS could offer the ideal environment for Solomon to continue his growth.

The suggested move to San Diego FC makes sense in many ways, especially with the team looking to add quality to their squad ahead of their debut season.

If the club were to make a move for Solomon, it would be a win-win for both sides. San Diego FC would gain a talented winger with high potential, while Solomon would have the opportunity to take his career in a new direction, away from the pressure of the Premier League.

Tottenham interested in PSG forward recently nominated for the Ballon d'Or

The January transfer window never fails to spark rumours, and this year’s no exception. With Tottenham and PSG facing tricky seasons, chatter about potential moves is picking up steam.

While PSG are often linked with incoming superstars, this time the spotlight is on a player who might be heading out the door.

Fans of both clubs are closely following the buzz, with the Premier League often proving a great stage for players looking to rediscover their form. A winter move could mark a fresh start for a PSG player seeking to regain momentum.

Reports from reputable sources indicate growing Premier League interest, with Tottenham emerging as a potential contender.

Speculation surrounds who Spurs might be eyeing and what this move could signify for both parties involved.

Tottenham linked with PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg (h/t Paris Saint-Germain News), PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani is set to depart during the January transfer window.

Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, and RB Leipzig are all reportedly interested in securing the French striker’s signature. Liverpool may be leading the race, but Tottenham’s involvement certainly spices things up.

Plettenberg revealed, "Randal Kolo Muani is set to leave PSG during the January transfer window," noting that while Manchester United have inquired, they are unlikely to make an offer this month. Tottenham and Leipzig, however, remain in the hunt.

The 24-year-old’s potential departure comes amidst a challenging second season at PSG, where he’s struggled for consistent game time under Luis Enrique.

After a solid first year in Paris, Kolo Muani has found himself sidelined, unable to establish himself as a key figure in the squad.

A striker in search of form

Kolo Muani’s first campaign at PSG saw him register 6 goals and 6 assists in 26 appearances, including 23 starts.

However, his second season has been far less fruitful, with just 2 goals and 1 assist in 10 matches. SofaScore stats reveal he’s averaging only 30.5 minutes per game this term, highlighting his reduced role.

Part of his struggle stems from Luis Enrique’s tactical choices, often deploying line-ups without a natural ‘9’.

Despite his versatility, Kolo Muani has been overlooked even as a winger, limiting his opportunities further.

If he does make the leap to the Premier League, he wouldn’t be the first PSG player to find redemption in England. Carlos Soler’s resurgence at West Ham stands as a prime example.

For Tottenham, securing Kolo Muani could be a gamble worth taking, offering both the player and the club a chance to turn their fortunes around.

The 2023 Ballon d'Or nominee is eager to relaunch his career as soon as possible.

Rapid Reactions: Nottingham Forest 1

Tottenham didn't appear as if they came to play in the first half. Typically Tottenham comes out blazing in most matches, flying to dead balls and not letting the other team keep possession for very long. However, during today's first half, Tottenham seemed content just keeping possession and absorbing attacks from their opponent. This didn't appear to be a change in manager Ange Postecoglou's strategy, as the team maintained their high defensive line and a handful of players did play with the urgency Spurs' fans have grown accustomed to this season.

Spurs condemned to yet another defeat away in the Midlands

This lack of effort I believe stems from the teams inability to string together wins this season. The highs of this season have been incredible, It was only 11 days ago that this same squad blasted Southampton 5-0, a game that saw their opponents fire their manager a mere few hours following the conclusion of the match.

With that being said, the lows have been the pure opposite, and a 6-3 loss to Liverpool on Sunday, a game which Tottenham was never truly in a position to win, seems to have shaken the squads confidence.

Combine that with a game against an opposition that is flying high on a run of games they would've never expected to have this season, under a manager whose past history with Tottenham would lead his squad to play harder against them than anyone else, and you get a game like this.

The transfer window can not come fast enough. This team is in desperate need of reinforcements for their defense. Today they lined up with a patchwork back four that saw Archie Gray, a player who was a midfielder before he came to Spurs, lined up at centre back, Djed Spence, a promising young player, lined up at right back, Destiny Udogie, the teams only full-time defensive starter in the opening lineup today, at left back. Finally Radu Dragusin, a backup centerback, lined up next to Gray in the middle.

This was a plan that was forced on Ange Postecoglou due to injuries and fitness. Micky Van De Ven and Cristian Romero are both still out due to injury, and Pedro Porro has had a seemingly minor injury that has been nagging him in recent weeks. That injury kept Porro on the substitutes bench until the final minutes of todays match. Tottenham has to invest in their back four this transfer window if they want to turn this season around.

The fact is that Tottenham's depth on the back line wasn't strong coming into the season, and now that the entire starting back four has dealt with injuries this season, inconsistency has become the calling card of the Spurs' defense. Radu Dragusin, a player who does have promise as a centerback, is not built for the current system Spurs want to run.

The Romanian defender is built as the type of defender that thrives in a counter attacking system, one that absorbs pressure and then thrives off of long balls from their back four. Dragusin delivers deep passes over the top incredibly well, but his lack of pace has caused Tottenham problems all year, and It was a high-speed counter attack that led to the goal that defeated the Spurs today.

Finding some pacy central defenders who can step in for either Romero or Van De Ven should be goal number one for the club in January.

I'm going to say something that I don't believe most Spurs fans will agree with, but booting Ange Postecoglou will not solve the problem that Spurs are having. This squad has bought in to the system the Australian manager has installed, and if the team can get healthy and find some consistency, history shows that his team can go on runs. Postecoglou was unbeaten in his first 11 premier league matches as Spurs' manager, and that run was not a fluke.

This squad, when healthy, is built to thrive in the system Ange brings, but the lack of health has exposed the fatal flaw in the squad, which is the depth. Tottenham fans can point back to multiple points over the previous decade where the club has decided not to dig deep into their wallets and spend money investing in a team, and even one of the Spurs' own players has pointed this out this season.

Cristian Romero, in an interview with Telemundo Deportes following Tottenhams 3-4 defeat against Chelsea on December 8th, said this when asked about Tottenham's lack of investment in their squad, "The truth is I would say no comment but... Manchester City competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad, doesn't do well, strengthens again, and now they're seeing results."

Spurs fans have been critical of Chairman Daniel Levy for years, and the truth is that until the club learns you have to spend to win, they will continue to lose. You can fire every manager that you bring in, but until you learn to invest in the players you put on the field, no manager is going to be able to achieve the goals the club's fans want them to.

Spurs next game will come against 18th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 29th, a game that might give the Spurs a chance to head into the January window with a victory.

Match Report: Nottingham Forest 1

On Boxing Day, Spurs took the field as they took on Nottingham Forest at the City ground for gameweek eighteen of the 24/25 Premier League season.

For the task at hand, Ange opted for a line up of; Forster; Spence, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Sarr; Johnson, Son, Solanke.Â

How everything unfolded at the City Ground this Boxing Day

Within the first five minutes, Spurs had a breakaway in transition, but Son’s shot was very tame and straight at the goalkeeper. To his right was Johnson — back at his old stomping ground, and whom was in a very dangerous position, was clearly unhappy at the captain’s decision to shoot.Â

Just past the ten minute mark, Tottenham Hotspur linked Callum Hudson-Odoi was allowed far too much space to cut inside, but luckily fired his shot off target.Â

Twenty-eight minutes in, the hosts had the lead. After Spurs gave the ball away, Morgan Gibbs-White carried the ball forward, before slipping through Anthony Elanga with a through ball— who slotted into the bottom corner with a left footed finish. As he was bearing down on goal, Udogie was busy claiming an offside to the linesman, rather than trying to catch up to Elanga.

With essentially the last touch of the first half, Son struck a free-kick into the side netting. Ange’s side would go into the break with a 1-0 deficit and it all to do in the second half.Â

So, Spurs then have 45 minutes to break down a Nuno side with a lead to hold onto. Maybe the most predictable outcome of the season. This is being written at half-time, not full-time. It’s that obvious.

Seven minutes after the break, Forster steered an Elanga cross away, but only as far as Gibbs-White, whose effort he was able to save. From there, Spurs had a break, where they eventually wasted a corner. To make a change.

Minutes later, Johnson absolutely superbly took down the ball inside the Forest penalty area, taking Murillo out of the game, but his effort was saved by Matz Sels. By far the best chance Spurs had had all game.

Just after the hour mark, Nikola Milenkovic should have doubled the hosts lead, but headed over the bar from close range. Again, really poor defending from Spurs.

Ange responsed by introducing Maddison and Bergvall, whom replaced Bentancur and Sarr. With just under ten minutes to go, Werner and Porro replaced Son and Kulusevski. Then, Bissouma replaced Dragusin, who looked to have picked up an injury.

The game was summed up in stoppage time. Spurs had a chance to get a cross into the box, decided not to, lost the ball, and Spence was given a second yellow for stopping a counter attack.

Report: Tottenham loanee to return to the club in January

Description

A young Tottenham loanee could be heading back to North London earlier than expected as his loan spell abroad has yet to meet expectations.

While hopes were high at the start of the season, a series of setbacks have left the player struggling for both game time and form.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, the situation has taken an unexpected turn, leaving both the player and his parent club with decisions to make.

After joining his current club on loan, the player was determined to impress and prove himself after a disappointing previous season.

However, despite an encouraging start, his performances have faltered in recent weeks, leaving his future uncertain.

Alejo Veliz set to return to Tottenham in January

According to La Grada Radio, Espanyol may look to end Alejo Veliz's loan deal early, with financial concerns being a major factor.

The club has been struggling with economic difficulties and, as a result, needs to lower their wage bill before making any signings next summer.

As part of their efforts to balance their finances, the club could decide to send the loanee back to Tottenham in the upcoming transfer window.

Although the player had some impressive moments early in the season, including a match-winning goal and a hat-trick in cup competition, Alejo Veliz's form has since dipped.

He has struggled to secure a spot in the starting eleven and has only made a handful of appearances in recent weeks, which has led to growing uncertainty about his role at the club.

Reports indicate that the young player is open to the idea of returning to Tottenham early, signalling his willingness to accept a change in his situation if the loan is cut short.

This move would hurt his current club’s goals and raise concerns for Tottenham, as the loanee’s struggles in Spain have sparked doubts about his progress.

Tottenham’s next move

Tottenham will likely monitor the situation closely, as the loanee's development is key to his future with the club.

Given that the player is still young, there is room for growth, but his lack of influence in both his loan spells in Spain is troubling.

Should the loan end prematurely, Tottenham could consider sending him on another loan to a Championship club, where he could gain the first-team minutes necessary to regain his confidence and further his development.

While his potential is still recognised, Tottenham will need to think carefully about his next steps to make sure he gets the right chance to develop.

Whether he heads back to Spurs or finds another loan move, this next chapter could be key for his future.

Media reveals the signing left devastated after failing to join Tottenham

In the summer of 2019, a deal that could have reshaped the Premier League collapsed, leaving one of Europe's most sought-after midfielders heartbroken.

Bruno Fernandes, then playing for Sporting Lisbon, was set to join Tottenham Hotspur, a club fresh from their Champions League final appearance under Mauricio Pochettino.

The move seemed like a perfect fit, but things did not go as planned.

Despite agreeing on a transfer fee, Tottenham and Sporting Lisbon were unable to finalise the deal, leaving Fernandes in Portugal for six more months.

Bruno Fernandes reportedly in tears after failed Spurs move

According to Football London, this setback left the Portuguese star devastated, reportedly shedding tears in his chairman’s office when he realised his dream of joining Spurs had fallen through.

However, that was not the end of Fernandes’ journey to the Premier League. In January 2020, Bruno Fernandes joined Manchester United for a £60 million fee.

His transfer to the Red Devils marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career, one where he quickly became a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

While Tottenham’s loss was United’s gain, Fernandes was initially shattered by the failed Spurs transfer.

As one unnamed source revealed to the Daily Mail, “That felt a bit typical at the time. When push came to shove, the club didn't get it done. Then the same thing happened with Luis Diaz at FC Porto. He ended up at Liverpool."

Despite this disappointment, Fernandes went on to prove himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Bruno Fernandes' impact at Manchester United

Since arriving at United, Fernandes has become a pivotal figure. With 259 appearances, 85 goals, and 76 assists, he has been one of the standout players for the club over the past few years.

His leadership qualities, fiery temperament, and consistent performances have earned him the captain’s armband, which he took over from Harry Maguire ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Under manager Erik ten Hag, Fernandes has flourished, becoming a key component of the team’s success.

However, Fernandes’ story is not just about success. His failed transfer to Tottenham remains a significant moment in his career, one that helped shape his journey to the top.

Even though the move did not materialise, Fernandes’ eventual rise at Manchester United shows that sometimes, setbacks can lead to new opportunities, and in his case, greater glory.
