'Here We Go' - Latest Tottenham transfer hints at an important change in approach - Hotspur HQ
Description

It is honestly going to take a lot longer than any Tottenham Hotspur supporter would like to admit for this club to truly turn things around and become a top four team in the Premier League again, because as the 2025/26 season is showing everyone, Spurs have fallen very hard in terms of their quality and mentality.

So much has to change about how this club is fundamentally run from the way they are coached, to the way the players approach the games philosophically, to the personnel decisions that are made by the front office in terms of recruitment.

Tottenham keep telling fans that a change is coming and that things will be different in the future, even finally firing Daniel Levy this past summer transfer window. Yet at the end of the day, all Tottenham fans see before them is the same old Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the transfer

Well, to kick off the winter transfer window, Tottenham are actually making moves that show important progress in an underrated aspect of a club's success: selling players. After notching their first Here We Go of the window by finding a new loan destination for the unwanted Manor Solomon, Spurs have made their first permanent transfer of the window, too.

As was rumored heavily, Brennan Johnson will indeed be heading to Crystal Palace this January, as Fabrizio Romano has green lit this Premier League blockbuster transfer between London rivals with his fabled Here We Go.

Tottenham Hotspur and Palace had already agreed to terms on the transfer, and, now, Fab says that Johnson has said his yes to "personal terms" with the Eagles. Spurs will get 33.5 million pounds out of the deal, and while that is a little less than the 35 million pounds everyone thought, it is more money than Johnson would have been worth to them as a backup right winger - and even a third stringer once Dejan Kulusevski returns from a knee injury.

While there was nothing unexpected about Johnson getting sold to Crystal Palace this winter, the transfer shows an important change in approach by Tottenham. In the past, Tottenham would have held onto Johnson until he rotted away on the bench without playing and then would have gotten maybe 20 million pounds out of him.

Now, Spurs are getting a pretty decent fee for a player who is pretty good and holds sentimental value for them, but, in all reality, is not good enough to be a true star forward at the Premier League level and therefore would not fit Spurs future goal of being a top four team again.

Thomas Frank is the closest he has ever been to the sack at Tottenham

Thomas Frank is the closest he has ever been to the sack at Tottenham - Hotspur HQ
Description

At some point, Tottenham Hotspur supporters are going to reach a breaking point. They were pretty much already at that point after watching Spurs get totally drubbed 4-1 by arch rivals Arsenal in the last North London Derby, as Thomas Frank clearly did not learn his lesson from a ghastly 1-0 loss to the other big London rivals, Chelsea, just a few weeks prior.

Tottenham played like absolute cowards in their biggest game of the season and still got torn to shreds defensively - by Eberechi Eze, no less, a player who has done almost literally nothing in every other Premier League fixture this season.

Somehow, Tottenham have found more lows after that. They lost to Fulham in a terrible game after the Arsenal result. They won against Brentford and Slavia Praha, only to get shellacked by Sean Dyche and Nottingham Forest 3-0 shortly following those two wins. And then after beating local rivals Crystal Palace last Sunday, Frank and Co. laid another egg with a 0-0 draw with Brentford in the rematch on Thursday night.

Tottenham are sloppy and toothless

Yes, there have been far worse results than the 0-0 to Brentford this mid week in the Premier League, but watching how sloppy Tottenham play and how little urgency the Frank coached sides have, it is obvious fans are getting fed up and no longer see any positives or any upside to keeping Frank.

The reception he received from the away supporters was jarring. These folks paid their hard earned money and were treated to Spurs literally wasting time against freaking Brentford in a 0-0 game. During the match, these fans were serenading Frank with chants of Martin Jol and Eric Dier, of all people, before roundly booing the Danish manager after the match ended scoreless.

Not only are all of Frank's games a snoozefest to watch and insult to the intelligence of every Totteham fan watching, but it is not as if this boring and supposedly pragmatic approach is yielding any results for Spurs. If anything, they have been somehow worse this season in the Premier League than they were last season.

Pep Guardiola all but confirms Tottenham transfer target is for sale

Pep Guardiola all but confirms Tottenham transfer target is for sale - Hotspur HQ
Description

As the January transfer window officially opens for business, Tottenham Hotspur will be scouring the market for the best available attacking options who can both materially help their squad in the here and now while offering a similar long term value proposition as recent permanent signings Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons, and Mohammed Kudus.

Of course, pretty much every other top club in the Premier League will be looking at the same criteria, which is why Spurs were already soundly beaten to Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo. Manchester City are firmly expected to seal the Ghanaian international's signature soon, but with that, Spurs are hoping it will open up the potential signing of a Manchester City winger to them.

The main goal targets are Savinho and Omar Marmoush. Savinho was Tottenham's favored winger target at the end of the summer market, but Man City were not open to selling after their dreams of signing Rodrygo Goes faded into dust. Marmoush would be a more ideal fit as a goal scoring left winger, but although he has been cast even more on the periphery of the squad this season - and would seemingly be left out entirely with the addition of Semenyo - there is no indication he is up for grabs yet.

The third man for Tottenham

Meanwhile, the 22 year old winger Oscar Bobb has been mentioned as a third attacker from Manchester City that could interest Tottenham, and it sounds like the Citizens are open to letting the youngster spread his wings elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano and others have been reporting of active interest around Europe in Bobb, with Borussia Dortmund - not Tottenham - pushing the hardest to sign the player. And based on what Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has to say in response to the rumors, via Fab, it does not sound like he is too worried about Bobb making his exit.

Guardiola said of Oscar Bobb and the Dortmund links, Oscar Bobb and Borussia Dortmund in talks? You can ask Oscar, not me…"

That quote probably sounds familiar to Premier League supporters, because it is similar to what Pep Guardiola always says when there is someone linked with a move away from Manchester City whom the Spanish manager does not want to keep around.

Most of the time, Guardiola and Man City do not regret the players who exit, though there are circumstances where a young talent who cannot get into the side ends up blossoming elsewhere. Cole Palmer is the most prominent example of that.

Bobb probably is not that caliber of a player, and Tottenham will want to aim higher and wait to see if Marmoush or Savinho could possibly become available. He will likely suit Dortmund a lot better, but Bobb is still someone worth keeping on the radar as a possible depth option if nobody better arises.

Former Premier League manager raises awkward question about Thomas Frank - Hotspur HQ
Description

Thomas Frank watched his Tottenham Hotspur side finish 2025 on a high after beating Crystal Palace 1-0 on Sunday. But the Dane remains under pressure and a former Premier League manager has questioned what his vision for the Lilywhites is.

Spurs' win at Selhurst Park was vital amid a nightmare start to the season in the league. Frank arrived as Ange Postecoglou's replacement in the summer but is already feeling the heat just five months into his reign.

The Dane will head into the new year desperately wanting to oversee a turnaround with his side sitting 11th after 18 games. There are question marks about his squad but also his own ideas for the North Londoners.

Alan Pardew ponders what Frank's focus is

Frank was expected to turn the tide when he replaced Postecoglou following last season's 17th-place finish in the league. The Australian coach was dismissed due to this dismal showing in the league despite guiding the club to the Europa League trophy.

Alan Pardew gave his thoughts about the Lilywhites' situation and argued that Postecoglou's men only finished above the drop zone last season because he was focused on Europe.

The former Newcastle United manager said on Sky Sports:

"They wouldn't have finished 17h because Ange definitely kicked in, they would have finished somewhere halfway from that if he'd played the front three all the time. But he was concentrating on Europe, and hence they were in a really low position."

Pardew touched on Frank's Spurs and struggled to work out what the plan is:

"Where they are now, it's difficult to really add up about what they are. Sometimes I look at them and wonder what team they are. Are they a low block team that are going to counterattack? Are they going to dominate games? And I think a problem Thomas Frank has had is home form."

Spurs have won just one home game in the league this season, and that came against Frank's former employers, Brentford. It's on the road when the Whites are at their best, and Pardew highlighted the problems:

"Home form is when you have got to dictate the game and this isn't a natural for Thomas Frank teams. At Brentford they were always set up to counter-attack."

Frank became one of the most highly-regarded tactitans in England during his time in charge of Brentford. He propelled the Bees to the top-flight and built on this by making them tough to play against.

The style of play he implemented at the Gtech doesn't quite work taking over Spurs. This backs Pardew's point about the team's difficulty controlling games especially at home.

Frank has been unable to get his 'risk-taking' methods across

There is an indecisiveness about the type of football Frank wants his side to play, which stems from his past pragmatic approach at Brentford. When he took over in July, his first press conference filled fans with optimism over an exciting brand of football.

Frank told the media:

“We’ll play risk-taking, aggressive football. We want to play forward, to attack.”

We have seen glimpses of this philosophy, including the 3-0 away win over West Ham United earlier this season. There were plenty of positives in the opening four games, but Frank's troops hit a brick wall and have stuttered since October.

Frank is one of the favourites with the bookies to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked. He will be feeling the pressure heading into the second half of the season, and there are many issues for him to deal with.

Tottenham get one last parting gift from Fabio Paratici

'Here We Go' - Tottenham get one last parting gift from Fabio Paratici - Hotspur HQ
Description

Tottenham Hotspur know that in a matter of days, Fabio Paratici will leave to become the Director of Football at Fiorentina. That hardly says anything great about Spurs right now, because if Paratici is leaving the Lilywhites for the literal worst team in Serie A and the biggest flops of the 2025/26 season in all of Europe, then he must not be too keen on the vision shared by Thomas Frank and the new management structure.

Still, Fiorentina is a huge club, and Paratici did fine work in Italy, his home country, as the main man in charge at Juventus before coming to Tottenham. Every Spurs fan will wish him well, and even in his brief return to the club, he still helped out by bringing in Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG after a nifty stint in Turin.

Even on his way out, though, Paratici is delivering an unexpected gift to Tottenham in the form of an exit, which has received the fabled "Here We Go" from Fabrizio Romano even before the more expected departure of Paratici himself and the potential sale of Brennan Johnson to London rivals Crystal Palace.

The first 'Here We Go' drops

Per Fab, right around the time that Fiorentina are set to announce the signing of Fabio Paratici, they have reached a "verbal agreement" to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Manor Solomon. The player is currently on loan from Spurs to Villarreal, having sealed that move last summer after spending the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Leeds United in the Championship.

Solomon has predictably done nothing for Villarreal this season and shown that his level is far below their club. But given Fiorentina are the worst team in Serie A right now, Solomon, who does have a knack for finding the back of the net from the left wing position, he can only help the Viola's situation.

Paratici must like the familiarity Solomon brings and knows that he needs supplemental goals from the wing, above all else. Romano says that this is going to be a reset loan deal, so Solomon's loan will simply be switched from Villarreal to Fiorentina for the rest of the season.

The best players to address every single Tottenham transfer need in 2026

The Architecture of Spurs by Position - Hotspur HQ
Description

To support Tottenham Hotspur is to be a willing casualty of chaos. Like a wave buoy in the North Sea, one must embrace the constant threat of imminent disaster, Carabao Cup fourth round exits, structural damage to state-of-the-art “resources”, failed search and rescue missions, and annual batterings by forces near and far.

Twice a year, however—every January and June—the cloud cover breaks, the winds ease and the horizon stretches out in a dreamscape of hope and promise. Omens of delicious dealmaking are delivered via Twitter, ITKs fly banners across the skies offering insight into secret negotiations occurring at Hotspur Way, and Fabrizio Romano gloriously appears in the bright blue cloudless firmament with another link to Connor Gallagher… Â

That heady, soul crushing time is upon us once again. Like functional storm detection technology, let’s ride the still gray waves of winter and assess Spurs’ squad ahead of Thomas Frank’s first January transfer window.

We’ve broken down the squad positionally according to need, potential departures, available players who Tottenham have reasonable chance of signing, and pathways for emerging talents like Mikey Moore, Luca Williams-Barnett, Luka Vuskovic and Junai Byfield.

Absolute Priorities

Left/Right Back

With Destiny Udogie unavailable due to injury, Thomas Frank finds himself without proper cover at left and right back, depending on which you consider to be Djed Spence’s best position. The club could look to sign 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, and move Djed Spence to the right side of the defense. However, a winter deal could hinge on whether Frankfurt qualifies for the Champions League play-off in late January.Â

Perhaps more likely, Spurs could try to pry USMNT stalwart Antonee Robinson away from Fulham. He possesses the quality, pace and crossing ability to operate on the left of a back four or five. Spurs could also consider re-signing former academy graduate Dennis Cirkin, who missed the first half of Sunderland’s season with a broken thumb.

Left-Sided Central Defender

Long-term vision will dictate Spurs’ approach. Kevin Danso has proven himself to be a quality back-up for both Cristian Romero and Mickey van de Ven. Radu Drǎguşin is also back with the first-team, and could conceivably be played on the left. But both would be playing out of position.

Whether Spurs recruitment team envisions Luka Vuskovic playing behind the Dutchman next season or if they see Kota Takai as a serviceable left center back is moot. It’s a glaring hole that should have been addressed over the summer.

Mercifully, there are options. Among them are RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba, Wolfburg’s Konstantinos Koulierakis, and Inter’s Yann Bisseck, with whom Thomas Frank will be familiar from his youth days at Danish side Aarhus. Spurs may also feel Juventus’ injury-ravaged Gleison Bremer is worth a gamble. But it beggars to think Jan Paul van Hecke would opt to leave Brighton to sit on the bench behind his fellow countryman at 11th place Tottenham.

Left Winger

Regardless of whether Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are viewed as long-term solutions, Spurs need to sign a genuine can’t-miss starter to succeed Son Heung-min. Antoine Semenyo can be crossed off the list, but there remains a specter of hope the club could tempt Vasco de Gama’s Rayan, RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande or Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz to continue their development in North London.Â

If we’re being honest, none of those deals feel realistic. The club has already invested £60 million on Tel and Odobert, and the hierarchy may want to clear a pathway for Mikey Moore to make the position his own in a year or two. My preference would be for Spurs to go all-in on Maghnes Akliouche, a young French starlet the club failed to sign over the summer—even though he is more naturally suited to the right or central areas.

Defensive Midfielder

It’s fair to assume Yves Bissouma’s Tottenham career is over. That leaves Spurs with an aging, if indestructible, loanee in João Palhinha and a mercurial Rodrigo Bentancur, whose contact is running down. While both are serviceable in the short term, neither player can be considered integral to Tottenham's future.Â

The rumors of Leon Goretzka leaving Bayern Munich for Tottenham have been quashed by German transfer guru Florian Plettenberg. It's not surprising, given that Johan Lange and Co. seem determined to secure younger talent. Club Brugge’s Alexander Stanković is likely to be near the top of Spurs list, despite Inter holding a buy-back clause for the 20-year-old Serbian international. AZ Alkmaar's 19-year-old wunderkind Kees Smit has also been mentioned in recent days.

The Dutch defensive midfielder is being touted as the next Pedri. Paired with Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, Spurs would have one of the most exciting young midfields in world football. However, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is reported to be Spurs' dream target. The club would need to make the left-footed magician their record signing, and fend off advances from top English clubs and European giants. Spurs have also been peripherally linked to Carlos Baleba. But he won't come cheap. Brighton will demand a colossal fee for the Cameroonian star, even though he has failed to replicate his form during his first two seasons on the south coast. There's always Conor Gallagher....

Midsummer Night’s Dreams

Right Winger

Ben Jacobs has reported Spurs have agreed to a £35 million deal with Crystal Palace for Brennan Johnson. But the deal has not been finalized. Bournemouth and Aston Villa are also said to be in the mix for the Welshman. If the Europa League hero decides to move to on in search of more playing time, Spurs will be left with a huge hole on the right wing. The club could decide to test fate and rely on a swift return to form by Dejan Kulusevski.

But if the club has doubts about the Swede's ability to play every week in January, Johan Lange could redouble efforts to sign Maghnes Akliouche or Rayan Vitor. Either addition would force Thomas Frank to either shift Mohammed Kudus to the left, or to create a more fluid system across the frontline. There are a number of permutations to consider, particularly with talents like Mikey Moore and Luca Williams-Barnett waiting in the wings.

Striker

Before any additions are made, Spurs needs to decide the futures of Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani. Should they make Kolo Muani’s deal permanent, he’ll be expected to compete with Dominic Solanke to lead the line during the 2026-27 season. If both were to depart the club this summer, Spurs would have a several options to consider.Â

Porto’s Samu Aghehowa tops the list, though the club could be forgiven for having doubts about signing a promising striker from the Portuguese league. Omar Marmoush’s name has also been floated in recent weeks, but reports suggest City has no interest in selling the talented French forward. Jean-Phillipe Mateta, Igor Thiago, DuÅ¡an Vlahovic, and Ivan Toney have also been mentioned, yet concerning about age, quality, fit and wage demands push each closer to the bottom of the shortlist. Â

Goalkeeper

The narrative around Guglielmo Vicarious is firmly etched into Premier League stone. He is alternatively portrayed as a glaring liability with the ball at his feet and defending crosses, and as a world-class shot-stopper. Spurs have a capable back-up in Antonín Kinský, but it would be preposterous to view him as an upgrade on Vicario at this stage.Â

Links to Manchester City’s James Trafford, Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen persist. There’s a reason Pep decided to sign Donnarumma after the start of the season, and his first name is James. Verbruggen may excel in some areas where Vicario struggles, but the Italian outperforms him in nearlyAnd it’s doubtful that Brighton would even sanction the deal. Ter-Stegen, meanwhile, feels like a non-starter. He is nearly 34 years old, injury prone, and untested against the physical demands of the Premier League.Â

Bigger Fish to Fry

Right-Sided Central DefenderÂ

Spurs made Cristian Romero the club’s highest paid player and Thomas Frank named him captain, cementing future in North London, at least in the short-term. Kevin Danso has been excellent when deputized for the Argentine, while Radu Drǎguşin recently returned from ACL surgery. Then there’s Kota Takai, one of the more bizarre signings in recent years, unless the plan is for the young Japanese center back to raise his profile at the World Cup before being sold for a profit.

Beyond those options, Spurs already appear to have their long-term right-sided center back in Luka Vuskovic, who seems unlikely Spurs to be recalled from his loan at Hamburg mid-season. Junai Byfield also deserves a mention, having received his first professional contract and earning wide praise from within the club. However you cut it, Spurs are well-covered for both now and the future.Â

Central MidfielderÂ

Spurs possess two of the most coveted young midfielders in world football in Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray. Frank has Pape Matar Sarr as cover, and he could deploy Xavi Simons in a deeper role in certain formations. While the midfield remains a work in progress, the potential is astronomic. And if Spurs are determined to add a more combative presence in the middle of the park, Sarr could be sacrificed in favor of a Bruno Guimaraes-type playmaker in the future.

Attacking Midfielder

Xavi Simons has already been labelled as a flop, a deliriously short-sighted assessment given Spurs’ broader attacking dysfunction. The Dutchman stands to benefit enormously from Kulusevski’s return in a few weeks, and he could form a devastating partnership with James Maddison once the latter regains fitness. Of course, there is a scenario in which neither Kulusevski or Maddison reaches the heights they did at the beginning of Ange Postecoglou’s tenure. But that’s a bridge the club won’t need to cross until at least a year from now.Â

Tottenham's first January transfer is imminent

'Next 24 hours' - Tottenham's first January transfer is imminent - Hotspur HQ
Description

Tottenham Hotspur need to have an active winter transfer window this coming year, because there are so many needs still remaining in the squad to shore up. Although Spurs made some big moves in the preceding summer transfer window, even the most significant of those signings, Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons, are unable to fully show what they can do because of the lack of talent around them.

Spurs go into the January 2026 transfer window with dire needs for a left winger, striker, deep lying midfielder, left footed left back, and maybe even a new goalkeeper, depending on how the market interest develops for the inconsistent Guglielmo Vicario.

In order to make sure they have the financial ammunition and squad space to sign true upgrades, Tottenham have acknowledged that they must get better at selling players, and, thus, it is only fitting that their first move of the window, which could happen right when January 1 hits, is going to be a high profile sale.

Tottenham are about to close the deal

Brennan Johnson has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Everton, Sunderland, and even Aston Villa. Out of these handful of Premier League clubs, Palace were the first to make an offer and show significant interest in the Wales international, and while the Cherries have been very involved with Antoine Semenyo's own sale imminent, it looks like Johnson is about to choose Palace.

According to a new report from Sam Wallace and John Percy of the Daily Telegraph, Johnson is about to undergo a medical with Crystal Palace in the "next 24 hours", as the Eagles "close in" on officially signing the Tottenham Hotspur right winger for a club record 35 million pounds, which has always been the rumored fee. On top of all this, Johnson's deal is expected to go through, and the Telegraph reports that he could even be in the lineup for Crystal Palace for this weekend's big Premier League battle against Newcastle United. There is quiet confidence he will be closed in time for the game.

At this point, it appears a Brennan Johnson transfer to Crystal Palace is imminent, and while Tottenham fans can haggle all they want about how much profit this transfer really is with what htey owe in back pay to Nottingham Forest, it is still a profit and a player off the books who is not actually helping the team.

Johnson is a talented player who can score goals with great instincts, but he does not fit what Spurs are trying to do. Spurs need a more dynamic, athletic winger out on the left, as they already have two much better right wingers than Johnson in Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski.

Morgan Rogers just made a Tottenham transfer even less likely

Morgan Rogers just made a Tottenham transfer even less likely - Hotspur HQ
Description

After winning eight straight games to charge up the Premier League table - including victories over Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea - Aston Villa ran into a buzzsaw in a road match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Lions were torn to shreds by the opposition in a 4-1 loss, and if that sounds familiar to Tottenham Hotspur fans, that's because it is the exact scoreline by which Spurs were ripped apart by the Premier League leaders.

Aston Villa star forward Morgan Rogers has been a dream transfer target for many Spurs fans, and with the club needing a goal scoring left winger as badly as ever, the former summer 2025 target will likely become a topic of conversation again in the future.

What did Morgan Rogers just say?

But judging by his response to Aston Villa getting trounced by Arsenal, Tottenham fans may be rethinking how badly they want Rogers at their club. Because Rogers is either a secret Arsenal fan who is being way too effusive in his praise for them, or he does not have the killer mentality Spurs fans should be looking for.

Morgan Rogers said to NBC Sports after the 4-1 loss to Arsenal, via Fabrizio Romano, “The better team won. That's why Arsenal are top, they are the best team. It's nothing bad to lose 4-1 to the best team in the league”.

That is actually a wild thing to say. Could you imagine a superstar player at another club saying this about losing to Arsenal? It's not like Aston Villa came into this game as schlubs either. They are a legitiamte top four side and were dark horse title contenders. A 4-1 loss to Arsenal is massive, and losing 4-1 to any club is not something that should be taken lightly or laughed off.

Tottenham would be livid if any player acted like this after losing 4-1 to Arsenal - or even 4-1 to Fulham or Crystal Palace, for that matter. Now, one silly quote and one bad loss should not totally change how Tottenham view Rogers as a player or a possible transfer target, because his seven goals are more productive than anything Spurs forwards are putting up right now.

At the same time, Rogers is not a world class player by any means, and Spurs have to be careful how they spend their money. Rogers was already on the periphery as a transfer target, but viewing this quote and the nonchalant attitude after a blowout loss in a critical game makes you wonder if Spurs should think twice about looking in his direction.

'Has no plans ' - Transfer insider confirms striker is off the table for Tottenham - Hotspur HQ
Description

Tottenham Hotspur will be prioritizing a new left winger in the January transfer window, but many fans are wondering why the club are not going as hard after a new striker. Though Spurs do have three credible options in the squad in Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani, and Dominic Solanke, literally none of them are reliable to the club in terms of their long term value.

Meanwhile, Solanke has not started a single game this season due to injury and was fairly average in his first season at the club despite a whalloping 65 million pound price tag. And then Richy is too streaky and inconsistent to be relied upon, and he is someone Spurs were actively shopping in previous transfer windows.

Tottenham do not have many options

So another striker is very much on the cards in 2026 as a possible Tottenham transfer. For the most part, Spurs are wisely being linked with young, up and coming names like Samu Aghehowa of FC Porto, but one veteran player they were linked to in the past is Christopher Nkunku, who has the added benefit of being able to play literally every other attacking position at a high level.

The thing is, Nkunku is not for sale. It seemed like he could be after a slow start to life at AC Milan after Chelsea dumped him off this summer, but following a big brace against Hellas Verona, the Rossoneri are not about to give up on the Frenchman.

In his latest transfer update, Give Me Sport reporter Ben Jacobs reports that Christopher Nkunku himself "has no plans" to leave Milan in the January transfer window. Even though he has been linked with a move to the Turkish Super Lig, he wants to stay in Serie A, having just joined Milan.

Now, Nkunku would have been far from the most appealing option for Tottenham Hotspur to begin with at striker. He is not a pure No. 9, he has a concerning injury record now, and he could not quite cut it in the Premier League - though he was quite good for Chelsea when he was healthy enough to play and given a chance. Nkunku, though, was a credible forward option for Spurs. Now, there is one less option to consider.

Tottenham are quietly monitoring the absolute best LW available - Hotspur HQ
Description

When the January transfer window opens up in a matter of hours, Tottenham Hotspur are fully expected to be one of the most aggressive teams on the market at upgrading their attack, specifically the left wing position. And if Spurs do not go hard after a clear upgrade in that spot, the fan base will be deeply disappointed.

Spurs have been lacking in goals for years, and now that Son Heung-min is gone, too, Tottenham do not have a proven goal scorer at the Premier League level. Their leading scorer right now is Richarlison, who, in all honesty, is someone Spurs should be looking to upgrade next summer.

In the meantime, Spurs need to make a splash on the left wing now to bring in someone who is more ready to contribute in the short term than Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert while still offering the kind of long term upside and star power that Spurs need in order to compete with the best teams in the Premier League.

Even better than Antoine Semenyo

After striking out on Antoine Semenyo, who seems destined to join Manchester City, Tottenham are quietly eyeing an even better left wing option and a player who is most likely the very best left winger who could conceivably transfer in 2026.

According to a report from the Daily Mail's Matt Barlow, Tottenham Hotspur are indeed among the clubs interested in Juventus superstar Kenan Yildiz, who is one of the biggest young attacking talents in world football. The Turkish international's agent Jorge Mendes is strumming up the transfer interest hard ahead of a possible move away from Juve, and like so many clubs, Tottenham rate the young man highly.

Yildiz leaving Juve is almost hard to believe, given the club quickly gave him the No. 10 and anointed him as the heir to Alessandro Del Piero. But given how poor Juve have been over the years and the dwindling market power of Serie A as a whole, especially compared to the Premier League, you can maybe see why, driven by Mendes, Yildiz could be ready for a move out of Turin.

Arsenal have been pushing the hardest in the background for Yildiz, and while Tottenham fans know all too well the sting of losing out on top targets to their North London rivals, that alone cannot be a deterrent to going after a truly special player. Yildiz is just 20 years old with 10 goal contributions in 15 starts for an awful Juventus team, and he would waltz into Tottenham as their best attacker.
