Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles continue to mount as yet another key player faces time on the sidelines.

Tottenham is enduring one of its toughest periods. Following their 3-1 defeat against Everton last Sunday, the Spurs find themselves plagued by an unrelenting wave of bad news.

Amid ongoing transfer rumours, including recent links to Liam Delap, Tottenham is striving to climb out of their struggles and regain momentum.

Yves Bissouma, the team’s dependable midfielder, is the latest addition to an already extensive injury list that has left the squad stretched thin.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has navigated a turbulent second season, with a string of injuries forcing him to adapt tactically.

Fans were left concerned when news emerged of Bissouma’s knock during Tottenham’s recent clash with Arsenal.

With a packed fixture list on the horizon, the timing couldn’t be worse for the North London club. In the midst of this crisis, Postecoglou has maintained his characteristic composure.

Yves Bissouma setback deepens Tottenham’s growing troubles

The absence of many first-team players, including Bissouma, raises questions about Tottenham’s ability to sustain their campaign.

Yves Bissouma sustained a slight hamstring strain during Tottenham’s recent defeat to Arsenal.

While manager Ange Postecoglou downplayed the severity of the injury, stating, "Yeah, Brennan and Biss picked up knocks against Arsenal, Biss not too serious," further assessments are ongoing to determine the full extent.

Club insider Paul O’Keefe shared on X that the midfielder is awaiting additional scan results. He added, "They do not think it is major—or at least hope. Maybe 2-3 weeks."

This timeline, though relatively short, comes at a critical juncture for Tottenham, with the team already battling a long list of injuries and underperforming in key areas.

Tottenham faces an injury crisis

Tottenham’s injury woes have left no fewer than 11 first-team players sidelined, including key forwards and defenders.

This crisis has forced Postecoglou to experiment tactically, including the use of a 3-4-3 formation in their recent matches.

His absence could affect Tottenham’s ability to control games, particularly against stronger opponents in the Premier League.

The ongoing injury situation highlights a deeper issue for Tottenham—squad depth. With the club facing critical fixtures in the coming weeks, the challenge will be to weather this storm without compromising results.

We hope that Bissouma’s recovery goes as planned and that Tottenham’s injury list doesn’t grow any further, but for now, the road ahead looks undeniably challenging.

Tottenham contemplate move to sign 21

Tottenham Hotspur are apparently contemplating making a huge move to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in the January transfer window, despite Chelsea interest.

As it stands, Tottenham are not in a promising position. Their first half of the Premier League season has been woeful as they currently sit 15th in the table; without a doubt, they need a strong second chapter in this campaign.

To do so, Ange Postecoglou might wish to dabble in the January transfer window. It comes at a pivotal time for Spurs, who simply need reinforcements if they are to bow out the season in fashion.

For a long period of time, Ange has teased the potential of signing a new striker. He does not want to replace Dominic Solanke but he would like to bring in a player to back him up.

Tottenham contemplate move to sign 21-year-old Chelsea transfer target

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham might even make a "blockbuster" move to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this month. The news comes as the Tottenham hierarchy are eager to back Postecoglou and his transfer plans in this window.

Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of Liam Delap. Having admired him at Ipswich Town in their first season back in the Premier League, he is impressed with the big target-man's displays so far.

Despite Tottenham wanting to back Postecoglou's transfer ambitions, they will not do so at any price. Yep, there's that catch you were waiting for.

As always, Daniel Levy is looking to cut costs and he won't be dragged into any bidding war, nor will he overpay for a player. So, Ipswich's valuation must be fair for Tottenham to pull the trigger.

Considering Ipswich now face an uphill battle to survive relegation from the Premier League, it is difficult to envision them doing so without their best player Liam Delap. Therefore, it wouldn't come as a surprise if they demand a huge transfer fee from Tottenham.

Another obstacle which Tottenham will face in this transfer race is interest from Chelsea. Like Spurs, the Blues are eager to add to their attacking ranks before the end of the season.

With Chelsea, there always comes a bidding war. The Blues are infamous for overspending on players, so this is not a battle Spurs will willingly involve themselves in.

Spurs eye up AC Milan defender

It has been very clear for a while now that Tottenham Hotspur need defenders, and quickly. With key assets such as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie all out, Ange Postecoglou has had an awful period of his side leaking goals left, right and centre, and having to play makeshift centre backs in the process, such as youngster Archie Gray, who unfortunately stuck the ball in his own net at Goodison Park in the 3-2 defeat to Everton on Sunday.

Spurs looking at central defender playing over in Serie A

One name the North Londoners are linked with is current AC Milan man Fikayo Tomori. The Rossoneri are apparently open to selling the now 27-year-old within the range of twenty to thirty million Euros. The Englishman hasn't had much joy recently in the north of Italy, starting only nine games and featuring in another three in AC Milan's Serie A campaign this season.

It would be a risk, but one that could be worth taking. His track record and what he's done in his overall time at Milan is very impressive. He played the most minutes out of any outfield player in the 21/22 season, where the Rossoneri won the Scudetto for the first time in eleven years, and their 19th overall league title.Â

The Canadian-born English international could see this as a way to get back in the England squad, as he's had  very little chances to prove himself with the national team, receiving only the five caps so far, and he wasn't even picked ahead of the likes of Lewis Dunk of Brighton & Hove Albion for the 26-man-squad for Euro 2024.

Tomori is someone that providing he stays fit, could very much suit an Ange Postecoglou side. He is very quick and athletic which would be perfect for the extremely high line that Postecoglou likes to play, he is solid one vs one and definitely could provide some aerial threat from corners as well. He can also operate as a full back at either side if needs really must, but is still primarily a centre half by trade.

As stated before, he is now 27 years of age, celebrating his birthday last month. He is coming into the prime period of his career and will want to get back playing first team football and potentially receive another England call up to fulfil his potential. He knows the Premier League, coming out of Chelsea's academy and  playing in their first team for a season, he's athletic and shouldn't be too costly for a club of Spurs' stature and financial position. I think he could fit in the side like a glove.

Former striker calls out Spurs board

Now retired Egyptian striker Mido played 48 league games for Tottenham Hotspur between 2006 and 2007, scoring 14 times. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, the 41-year old has discussed the current issues at the club.

Former Spurs striker very critical of the club's owners

When asked by Jeff Stelling about the recent form, and whether or not the injuries are a legitimate excuse for Ange, he said: "To be honest it's embarrassing, and I don't think the real problem is Ange, or any other [previous] coach. Honestly, the people on top [the board] they've been running the club from a financial point of view, not from a football point of view.

I feel sorry for every Spurs fan, I'm one of them. The club has been ran with this ideas [financial over footballing]. And I always believe that you always have to find the balance between the technical operation and the right investment - and with Daniel Levy, and people on the top - to be honest, and I have all the respect for them, but I really think that their first concern is to make money of this football club - and I'm being honest here.

Tottenham are a huge club with a great history, a club that is in London, with the best stadium in England, the best facilities, any player in the world would be proud to play for such a big club like Tottenham. But now it is very difficult to attract top players, it's even more difficult to attract top coaches. Because it's obvious that the management and the board - their first concern is to make money. Not to win trophies. This is the problem.

If you bring the best coach in the world, with this environment, and this mentality, and I always say that the mentality comes from the top, if the chairman and the board are willing, and really planning to take this football club to the top, it will go down to everyone at the club, even the younger supporters in the stand. The mentality comes from the top. It comes from good transfers, keeping your best players, a clear target to always be in the top four.

I'm not saying to win the league, but to always be in the top four, to play in the Champions League football. To try to win one of the [domestic] cups. This is where Tottenham belong, this is where Tottenham should be. This is what I really believe, I think the club has got all the qualities to be in a much better place than where they are now.

Maybe if the management hear what I am saying now they will be not happy with me, but I really am saying this because I love this football club. I am honoured to have played for Tottenham. Football is simple. You spend money the right way, you have the right mentality - which again goes to everyone at the football club. But we are all football players, and we know, if we see that the board is not getting the best players, is getting rid of their best players, as a top player what am I going to fight for.

I'm not going to fight. This is the mentality of the club. I will end up being [just] an employee. I will come in every day for training, train, we play the game, if we win the game ok, no problem. If we don't win, okay it's alright we go to the next game. This is not the mentality of a club [that wants to win things].

After speaking about the club, Mido was asked about his compatriot Omar Marmoush, who has just joined Manchester City from Frankfurt. In April of last year, when his pedigree was a lot lower than it is now, the former striker advised Spurs to sign him. He had coached the 25-year old at his first professional club.

Perhaps that will be one that got away. Though, even worse, many of you will remember back in 2013 when Mido advised Spurs signed Mohamed Salah. People can say he was saying that because they are his countrymen, but he never suggested that Spurs sign Mohammed Elneny or Ramadan Sobhi. He knows how good Salah and Marmoush were and are.

Nice to see such passionate words from a top man. Safe to say he speaks for Spurs fans with those comments. The more high profile people that call out the board the better. Hopefully more to come.

Dane Scarlett recalled by Spurs

Description

It has been officially confirmed by all parties, that Tottenham Hotspur striker Dane Scarlett has been recalled by the club from his loan at Championship side Oxford United, as a result of a lack of game time.

In reality, the striker was never first choice at the U's, though there were times he was getting more game time than in other spells. However, under recently appointed manager Gary Rowett, he was not even getting appearances off the bench, finding himself an unused sub three times in the last six games.

Talk of a recall had been mooted as far back as last month. The writing was on the wall when Rowett brought in striker Tom Bradshaw, whom he worked with at Millwall for over three years. At the weekend, Bradshaw came off the bench, whilst Scarlett was an unused sub. For a team that play with one up front, the situation was clearly beyond repair.

Overall, the striker played 805 Championship minutes - playing 20 games, starting seven times, and scoring four goals, at a rate of a goal every 201 minutes. Not bad numbers, though should be caveated by the small sample size.

It will be interesting to see where he goes on loan next. Will it be another Championship side - or a League One move to get more regular game time? The latter feels like the better idea. There is also the option to go abroad like Alfie Devine has gone in the Belgian Pro League. That feels like it would be a good experience for him.

Things have generally not worked out well for Scarlett during his loans so far, so it feels like it will be a long way back if the next one doesn't go well. There is still plenty of time, but considering he was getting minutes in the Europa League knockout stages four years ago, his development has not gone as planned so far.

Some have mentioned a loan to Leyton Orient, where he would link up with current Spurs loanees Josh Keeley and Jamie Donley, as well as former academy player Dilan Markanday. However, the rules state that clubs can not loan more than two players from the same club. Even if they could, we have already seen Keeley and Donley fall victim to Orient having too many loanees for their match day squad in the past, so it would perhaps be a suboptimal move regardless.

Wherever he goes, let's hope it goes better than his previous loans.

Jermain Defoe compares academy player to Luka Modric

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, and U18 academy coach, Jermain Defoe, has singled out three players he worked with as a future player to look out for, including two currently in the Spurs academy.Â

Jermain Defoe with some very kind words about two players

Speaking to Sky Sports news, the 42-year old said: “The first one is a player I coached at Tottenham for two years in the academy. I’d probably go as far as saying he’s one of the best players at his age that I’ve seen in the country.Â

I remember we played a game last year against Chelsea, and his performance was unbelievable. Outstanding performance. It was probably his best performance of the season, the big game.

I think we ended up winning 3-2, we were 2-0 down. It was a masterclass — and the player’s name is Tyrese Hall. He’s someone who I believe is a Premier League [standard] footballer.Â

It know it’s a big statement but he’s someone who from the first time I saw him I thought ‘do you know what, I believe, god willing, that he’s someone who can go and play at the top top level.Â

Unbelievable footballer. So much potential — and he reminds me a little bit, technically how he is, so silky, of, again another big statement — that Luka Modric sort of vibe, and Joe Cole. Phenomenal talent.”

He also gave a shoutout to Callum Olusesi, saying: “There’s another one, Callum Olusesi, he’s been on the bench a few times [for the first team], this season for Tottenham, another young player. Can play as a holding midfielder, play as an eight, play as a ten. Still developing, but great potential.Â

Furthermore, he had some kind words Kieran Morgan, who left Spurs this summer, and is doing well for himself at Championship side QPR. The striker said these three players stood out the most during his time as a Spurs U18 coach.Â

Some fans have been surprised that Hall has not had a sniff in the first team so far this season, particularly amidst the ridiculous injury crisis. The midfield, whilst still not completely full strength, has been the least injury impacted part of the side — but even those that are playing, have not been showing their best form.

For Hall to not have even made the bench, like Olusei has as Defoe mentions, does feel a bit harsh. Nevertheless, some positive words from his former coach, that does make you excited about what could be to come in the future.Â

Another bitter blow as Man United enter talks to sign Tottenham transfer target

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are having a woeful season. In the Premier League, they currently sit 15th and after 22 games played, they are only eight points away from safety.

Of course, I only mention this objectively. I don't actually think Tottenham will get relegated, nor will they even be considering that reality. It feels weird to even say this but while they are close to the drop-off, they should be thankful the teams below them are unbelievably poor.

Nevertheless, Tottenham remain a huge club, with huge objectives. Like him or hate him, Ange Postecoglou is a manager with great ambition and a never-say-never attitude.

Therefore, Spurs will be hoping to rebuild for a better campaign next time out.

One player who Tottenham were previously linked with in the January transfer window is Patrick Dorgu. The versatile defender was on Tottenham's radar, until they were priced out by his club.

Lecce reportedly wanted £30m for Dorgu, which made him too expensive for Tottenham to consider. As if this wasn't hard enough to take, Spurs might be forced to watch him joining a league rival instead.

Another bitter blow as Man United enter talks to sign Tottenham transfer target

According to a report by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Man United have already conducted club-to-club talks to discuss signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. Furthermore, Ruben Amorim has given his green-light, making Dorgu a strong contender for the United slot.

It goes without saying that Man United are a richer club than Tottenham. However, this isn't a bad thing for Spurs, considering the same can be said about most clubs - United are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, after all.

However, what is particularly difficult for Spurs to take is how proactive Man United have been. They've noticed a spot in the squad which needs strengthening, located a versatile player who could come in and fulfil the roles and they've already begun the process.

This ball-in-motion process might seem alien to Tottenham because they don't operate with anything close to this efficiency. Of course, they don't have an unlimited supply of cash to make that not an issue but still, they shouldn't be making excuses.

For the remainder of the season, Tottenham will hope to continue their run in the Europa League and the EFL Cup, where they have performed well. It is still early in the FA Cup, but they are through to the fourth round there at least.

Ange confirms duo are "out for weeks"

Description

After the defeat away to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglu confirmed that winger Brennan Johnson is set to miss the next 3-4 weeks, whilst Dominic Solanke is also out for weeks.

Another injury for Ange and Tottenham Hotspur to deal with

Fans had grown frustrated at the Welshman's performances in recent weeks, with many stating that Spurs need better. Nevertheless, whatever your thoughts may be on the player, it is yet another body down, in this unprecedented crisis. As for Solanke, everyone knows how big a loss he will be. Ange had said that the striker needed help on more than one occasion. This injury was as inevitable as the sun coming down.

It also means there is pretty much no chance of any immediate rest for Dejan Kulusevski. Nor a chance of him playing in his best position. Not to critcise the Swede, whom is a brilliant player, and scored, plus put one on a plate for Heung-Min Son against Everton, but he is simply being worked into the ground. He was really poor in his duels in the game, and the fatigue no doubt plays a part in that.

The previous time Spurs played Everton, back in August, they started with a wing pairing of Johnson and Wilson Odobert. Neither player were available on Sunday. Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie all started that game too.

Even Richarlison looked to have picked something when scoring his goal on Sunday, having collided with Jordan Pickford in the process. Let's hope that it was just a bit of a thump and that he's fine. Spurs are going to need him to be. The last time he contributed to a goal, he reinjured himself, so let's hope history has not repeated itself.

Particularly this week. The game against Hoffenheim on Thursday is must win. The ideal front three for that feels (R/L) Kulusevski, Richarlison, Moore. We saw an absolutely sublime cross from the latter for the Brazilian's goal. Meanwhile, Son looks pretty spent. No hate intended, but he, at the very least, is in need of some rest.

Just an absolutely ludicrous amount of injuries, and it feels never ending. Ange managed to get Ben Davies back at his disposal against Everton, but we are still waiting for Romero and van de Ven in central defence.

Most people thought Archie Gray was going to get a chance in midfield at Goodison Park, but he ended up playing in a back three, and then a back four. What a shame he didn't get a chance to play in his position in frot of England manager Thomas Tuchel. Poor fella.

So, there it is. Yet more injuries to contend with. Come on you Spurs.

Spurs loan watch: Another hugely disappointing day in Belgium

Description

On Sunday evening, there was Belgian Pro League action for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Alfie Devine and his KVC Westerlo side, as they faced Royal Antwerp and former Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld. Unfortunately, other loanee Luka Vuskovic did not play, after his red card in Westerlo's previous outing last week.

Taking a look at how everything went down over in Belgium

Nevertheless, Devine was, as usual, named in the starting XI, and once again as a number ten. The young midfielder has started every single league game he has been available for since his debut, where even then he came on at half time. Really encouraging stuff.

After a quarter of an hour, Antwerp took the lead, with former Spurs striker Vincent Janssen took the lead. Genuinely crazy to think he was in North London long enough to have played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium three times.

Midway through the first half, Westerlo equalised, scoring a rebound after an attempt from Devine was kept out. Then, after 36 minutes - they took the lead, which was enough to give them a 2-1 advantage heading into the second half.

However, 12 minutes into the second half - disaster struck, as Devine put the ball in the back of his own net, and the sides were level again, at 2-2. It looked like that was going to be the final goal of the game.

Unfortunately for Westerlo, it was not. Seven minutes into stoppage time, Antwerp converted a penalty to ensure all three points, and inflict further misery on the Spurs loanee's side. As for Devine himself, he was booked, and played 84 minutes of the game. Despite five shots, he was unable to find the back of the net for consecutive games.

Things are looking pretty grim for Westerlo at the moment. After this defeat, they find themselves 13th in the league, with 23 points from their 22 games so far. This means that they are currently in the relegation round spots, and will need to find their way out by the time the league splits into two later in the season.

Things do not get any easier, either. Next up is a home game against top of the league Genk next Saturday, at 15:00 GMT. The good news is that Vuskovic will have returned from suspension for that game, and will be able to help the team as much as possible. Tough day, tough few weeks for everyone involved.

Summary of Everton 3

Description

Spurs have been in horrific league form as of late, with just the one point in their last five outings, so they were looking to rectify that when they headed to Goodison Park, with it being most likely their last ever trip there before the Toffees move to the Bramley Moore Dock.Â

How things happened against Everton on Sunday afternoon

The North Londonders would get off to the worst possible start, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted for the first time in seventeen games after some lovely skill in the Spurs penalty area, before slotting past Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinský. The perfect start for David Moyes and his side.

Spurs would have a huge chance in the game at twenty-four minutes, when Dejan Kulusevski pulled it back for his captain Heung-Min Son to fire from close range, but it was a poor effort and one that Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal could easily gather.

Son would end up regretting that chance, as right on the half hour mark Everton doubled their lead. A brilliantly well worked bit of football in the middle of the park was then picked up by Senegalese winger Iliman Ndiaye, who powerfully carried the ball forward into the Tottenham penalty area before beating Radu Drăgusin and striking it into the roof of the net with his weaker left foot.

Shocking defending from Ange Postecoglou's side and you have to wonder why Everton had so much space in the midfield.

Just as the game was approaching the break, it was three, and summed up what was an absolute horror show for Spurs in this first half. A free-kick out wide on the right was whipped in by Danish international Jesper Lindstrøm, on loan from Napoli, which was then headed back across goal by James Tarkowski and ricocheting off youngster Archie Gray. An unfortunate own goal for the 18-year-old, who signed from Leeds United for around the thirty-four million pound mark in the summer.Â

With Spurs three goals down at half time, you would think Postecoglou had some stern word for his players in the dressing room, and a change was made. Drăgusin off for former Everton man Richarlison, making a huge change around with positions. The Brazilian going up front, Son back to his natural wide left position, Maddison in midfield, and Gray in a back two.

The second half didn't exactly start much better, when just approaching the hour mark Spurs would be caught playing out from the back, when an astray pass from Kinský was intercepted by Lindstrøm, who set up Calvert-Lewin to finish, but he couldn't quite get it right, with his touch letting him down and having to swivel before striking it just wide of the post. Tottenham let off the hook this time.

A goal would eventually come Spurs' way, when Kulusevski superbly lofted the ball over several Everton players protecting the goal after Pickford came out to try and claim the ball off Maddison, the midfielder held the ball ball up well before laying it back to the Swedishman. A superb goal but one that looked set to just be a consolation on what was another disappointing day for Tottenham.

However things were to get shaky for the Toffees, as former Everton man Richarlison once again bagged at Goodison Park, an excellent cross to the back post from academy graduate Mikey Moore was met by the Brazilian, colliding with his ex teammate Pickford in the process.

Spurs would push for an equaliser but it was too little too late, and once again the Lilywhite's would fall to defeat in the Premier League. Left in 15th position, the pressure is really starting to build up on Postecoglou. Results have to improve for Spurs, starting with next Thursday's trip to Germany to face Hoffenheim in the Europa League.Â
