Spurs in a good position to sign striker from Italian giants

Although the winter transfer window has been shut for over two weeks now, and the summer transfer window is still a few months away, the rumours linking Spurs to a number of players seem to never truly go away.

Since the window shut, we have seen the club linked to the likes of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen, Moise Kean from Fiorentina, and plenty of others. We would be here all day if we were to name every single one.

That said, one of those players is Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. As per media outlet GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur are the striker's "most likely destination" if he was to leave the club this summer, with it also being reported that he would like a move to the Premier League, should he depart the club.

Spurs linked with Dusan Vlahovic from Italian outfit Juventus

The Serbian striker had been the first choice striker since joining from Fiorentina in January of 2022, but has lost his place in the side of late - last starting a Serie A game in December. Ironically, the player keeping him out of the side at the moment is Randal Kolo Muani. Small world.

In terms of profile, Vlahovic is a tall - around 6'3 - striker, who is very difficult to defend in the penalty area. However, he does lack quite a lot of mobility and athleticism, and can be quite geriatric at times, which doesn't marry up too well, particularly if Ange is still in charge.

When he joined the club, the recently turned 25-year old cost around 70 million pounds, but will have only 12 months on his contract this summer, so in theory he could, and likely would cost more than that this summer.

However, one key stumbling block is that, per the report, he earns more than £300,000 a week at the Turin club. There is no way that Spurs would pay him anything close to that amount, and on this occasion, rightly so. He would not be worth a wage even similar to that.

Truthfully, the links to out and out strikers with a lot of pedigree do feel weird. Although he has missed the last month, and a couple of games at the start of the season, Dominic Solanke is not, generally, an injury prone player. He played all 38 league games for Bournemouth last season. Someone like Mathys Tel, who can play up front but also out wide, would make more sense as a permanent signing this summer.

Gary Lineker brings up maiden England call up possibility for Spurs defender

One of the biggest success stories in a disappointing season for Tottenham Hotspur so far has been the emergence of Djed Spence. A cast off for the first two years of his Spurs career, and even this season, to begin with - he was not in the team very often, and bizarrely left out of the Europa League squad.

However, through chance due to the amount of injuries Spurs have had, he has had a long run in the team since the middle of December, and has been superb in the vast majority of those games. Despite playing out of position at left-back, he has been consistently very good, both defensively and on the ball.

Owing to these performances, there has been talk within the fanbase that he deserves his first ever call up to the senior national team. One pundit who agrees with this, is former Spurs striker Gary Lineker.

Gary Lineker tips Spurs defender for a first ever England call up

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, the 64-year old was asked if he was impressed with Spence, and responded with: "Absolutely. I was really impressed with Djed Spence again. I think he was, quite rightly, given man of the match by Gary Neville. He was up and down. He was good defensively. He was good on the ball.

It’s funny, isn’t it, that about a year ago, well, not even that really, actually during the Euros itself, we were going, you know, the left-back problem for England - and then suddenly you get three emerge at once, you know, with [Myles] Lewis-Skelly, obviously Lewis Hall and Djed Spence, you know, three young players that suddenly look really strong in that position.

And I would think one of them will be playing in Thomas Tuchel’s first game, which is only just, what, a month away now. So they’ll be fighting for that position.”

Hard to disagree with these comments. If he does receive a call up, it will be interesting to see if it as a left-back or right-back. Outside of Trent Alexander-Arnold, there is not much at right-back. Kyle Walker is well past his best, Reece James is very injury prone, Kieran Trippier has retired, etc. Although Spence has been playing as a left-back, he could be called up with a view to playing on the right.

There is extra incentive for the 24-year old to get a call up this summer too, with it being confirmed that England are set to play against Senegal in a friendly at the City ground - the home of Nottingham Forest - in June. There is no doubting that, so far, Spence has played the best football of his career at Forest, and playing at the City ground as a home player would be amazing for him.

The signing Tottenham tried to steal from AC Milan at the last minute, but failed

The winter transfer window has passed, but that doesn’t mean we’re done talking about it.

The latest transfer window gave us plenty to discuss, especially regarding Tottenham, as we previously mentioned.

One of their targets, Fikayo Tomori, revealed why he rejected Tottenham at the time.

Despite the Spurs' last-minute signing of Mathys Tel, the team had another player in their sights towards the end of the window, but the deal couldn’t be completed.

The target they had in mind, and who interestingly also comes from AC Milan, was centre-forward Santiago Gimenez.

Tottenham sought to sign Santiago Gimenez

According to reports from Calciomercato, the 23-year-old Mexican could have chosen Spurs, as the club made a strong effort to secure his services.

The outlet also mentions that Tottenham were looking for players who could add more goals, which is why they turned their attention to him.

However, journalist Daniele Longo revealed that Gimenez had 'already given his word' to AC Milan before Spurs made their approach, so naturally, he turned down their offer.

Santiago Gimenez has made a strong start with the Rossoneri.

The Mexican, who was transferred for €35 million from Feyenoord to AC Milan in January, has played two matches and scored in both.

Spurs are in safe hands with Mathys Tel

Undoubtedly, the international could have been a great addition to the North London club, but with Tel’s arrival, it seems they’ll be in good hands.

Mathys Tel, who had 253 minutes of Bundesliga action before joining Tottenham, fits into Ange Postecoglou’s system thanks to his versatility.

However, much to his relief, once the deal was completed, manager Ange Postecoglou came out to say that these rumours were completely false.

Being young doesn’t take away from the great things he could achieve with the team, so we’ll have to wait and see how the manager integrates him and how this translates into goals.

Former Spurs boss hails Tottenham’s 'revelation' who has impressed

Thanks to the effort Tottenham’s players have put in after so many setbacks, they have finally seen a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

The North London club delighted their fans this past Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Despite the protests outside the stadium, the players’ spirits did not drop—at least according to boss Ange Postecoglou.

One of the standout performers in the match was, without a doubt, Djed Spence.

Djed Spence resurfaces and shines for Tottenham

Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has kept a close eye on his old club and has frequently commented on their situation, particularly praising the young English full-back.

According to Tottenham News, Redknapp included Spence in his Team of the Week, alongside goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who returned after a long absence due to injury.

"Djed Spence has been a revelation in recent weeks for Spurs," he said. "It sounds crazy but one of the few positives of all these injuries is that he’s gotten so much game time and has made this position his own."

The 24-year-old’s rise with Spurs has largely been attributed to the club’s long list of injured players.

This is both good and bad news—while Spence has been able to prove his ability on the pitch, it is never ideal for the club to be dealing with injuries to key defenders.

The young Spurs talents making their mark on the pitch

Other young talents, such as Lucas Bergvall, have also made an impression both on and off the pitch like Spence.

A few matches ago, when Rodrigo Bentancur was visibly disheartened at full-time, it was Bergvall who reminded him to go and thank the fans who had come to support them.

According to Sofascore, Djed Spence has made 16 appearances in the 2024/25 season so far, contributing one goal and two assists across all competitions.

Not long ago, the defender was struggling in a system that didn’t quite suit him, and his future at the club was uncertain.

However, with the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, things have changed. Whether due to good or bad circumstances, Spence’s talent is now finally being recognised.

Serie A star opens up on why he rejected Tottenham in January

The winter transfer window has closed, but it left behind memories of players who could have joined the club.

Tottenham continue to fight for dominance in the Premier League after a challenging season, as seen in their victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

Despite the win—and the fact that the player who scored the decisive goal secured the three points—James Maddison has found himself at the centre of debate, with some arguing that Ange Postecoglou should be giving him more playing time.

But returning to transfers, the recently closed window left a bitter taste for those hoping to see a Canadian defender join the club.

Fikayo Tomori says 'no' to Spurs

Last month, rumours suggested that Tottenham were tracking AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori.

Unfortunately, the club were unable to secure his signing, and now reports have emerged revealing why Tomori rejected Tottenham at the time.

Despite the North London club’s last-minute approach—following Radu Dragușin’s injury—sources in Italy claim the Canadian international turned down the offer because he did not want to leave Milan midway through the season.

However, reports suggest that Tomori never seriously considered leaving his club for Tottenham in the first place.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano shared the defender’s stance in a tweet: "I never planned to leave AC Milan, that’s very clear and simple. I'm just happy to be at this club and as long as they want me, I want to stay."

Tottenham still have top-quality defenders

With that, it became clear that Spurs and, Ange Postecoglou’s urgent attempt to reinforce the squad, would not get their wish.

Fikayo Tomori could have brought technique, ball dominance, and pace to the defence, making him a valuable asset at the back.

Moreover, the Canadian hadn’t been enjoying the best spell at Milan, as the defender has not been a guaranteed starter this season.

However, all is not lost, as Spurs still have key defensive figures such as Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and, hopefully soon, Radu Dragușin.

Spurs ready to move for Borussia Dortmund star in summer

According to a recent report from Tom Barclay, Tottenham Hotspur are targeting a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens this summer, whom is valued at £80 million pounds.

Tottenham Hotspur interested in English winger from Borussia Dortmund

He states that the player is a long term target of the club, which marries up with the reports from the autumn that the club had been to scout the player against Club Brugge, where the winger scored two goals.

Just last week, GiveMeSport also reported the club's interest in the player, which we aggregated here, if you wish to read more.

As for Gittens himself, he has scored 11 goals this season, as he nails down the left wing spot in Dortmund's side. The goals have dried up in 2025, but that can be partially attributed to how awful the German outfit have been this season, currently sitting 11th out of 18 sides in the Bundesliga.

In terms of profile, he is a very fast and dynamic left winger, who likes to take players on and open the game up. Back at the end of November, he scored a sublime solo goal in a 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich, finishing with his weaker left foot after some superb ball carrying down the left hand side.

Aside from playing for Dortmund, he is also an England U21 international, where he is team mates with Archie Gray and Dane Scarlett. In fact, in his last appearance for the young lions, he was substituted for Scarlett.

As it stands, he has a contract with Niko Kovac's side until 2028, and at the top it was mentioned that he is valued at £80m. However, as discussed - Dortmund are in serious trouble. Should they not qualify for Europe at all, they will almost surely have their hands tied, and be forced into selling him for less than what they believe him to be worth.

This would be a seriously good addition, and someone who has a great profile to play in an Ange side. Sure, he may not be here next season, but he has plenty of tools to succeed under several managers in this league.

In the Bundesliga so far this season, Gittens averages 3.3 dribbles per game. For context, at 1.8, Djed Spence averages the most for Spurs in the Premier League this season, with 1.8. You may say the leagues are different in standard, but those numbers would very likely still have him as the highest in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou reacts to protests outside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

If being a Tottenham fan is difficult most of the time, imagine how Ange Postecoglou must feel.

After a season full of setbacks and few positive results, people are starting to turn their attention to the club’s leadership—particularly Daniel Levy and his associates.

Before diving into the more controversial details, let’s recap some recent news.

The saga of whether Harry Kane will return to Tottenham continues to dominate headlines, as speculation grows that Spurs could make a move for him in the summer.

Meanwhile, reports suggest the club has its eye on a Spanish starlet with four goals this season, currently playing for Malaga CF.

Now, returning to the ongoing controversies at Tottenham, another player caught in the middle of them is midfielder James Maddison, with some believing he has been unfairly relegated to the bench by Postecoglou.

Spurs boss believes fans played a key role in yesterday’s victory

It’s no secret that North London club supporters have grown frustrated with the lack of change.

This frustration has led to chants, protests, and banners demanding action—especially directed at chairman Daniel Levy, who, according to rumours, could step down if necessary.

Yesterday, Tottenham faced Manchester United, securing a victory thanks to a goal from James Maddison.

However, this didn’t stop protests, and the atmosphere at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium remained tense both inside and outside the ground.

While the win provided some temporary relief, it did not erase the deeper issues plaguing the club.

Outside the stadium, thousands of fans protested, expressing their dissatisfaction with ENIC and Daniel Levy.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou insisted that the protests did not impact the matchday atmosphere.

Speaking to a Football London correspondent, Postecoglou said: "I mean, obviously I wasn’t outside so I can’t comment on that, but I thought the fans were great today in the stadium. I thought they got behind the team and it was important."

"Like I said it was an important game for us, considering, the build-up for the week and how we had an opportunity to just have a breather and kind of assess things and also allow us to work with the players leading into it.

"You know all the fans contributed to us getting the result we needed," he said.

Tottenham in urgent need of change

Tottenham needs change, and the supporters are running out of patience.

There have been growing questions over the leadership within the club, from the board to the manager. But can we really place all the blame on Ange Postecoglou?

The answer is likely no. This situation has persisted for years. No matter how many managers and players come and go, Spurs continue to struggle.

So what needs to happen? Who should leave?

The victory against Manchester United gave fans a brief glimpse of hope, a reminder of what the club is capable of.

But due to mental blocks, low morale, and perhaps individuals in leadership positions who should no longer be there, Tottenham remains stuck in a cycle of frustration.

Spurs' James Maddison at the centre of the conversation once again

Tottenham showed a glimpse of greatness in their last match.

Despite having been stuck in 15th place in the Premier League, Tottenham managed to climb three places after their 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

The Lillywhites had been enduring a tough season, with recent games such as their EFL Cup semi-final against Liverpool, where they were thrashed 4-0.

However, the latest win wouldn’t have been possible without Spurs’ midfielder, James Maddison.

A midfielder who deserves more recognition

It’s well-known that Maddison’s journey in the team, under manager Ange Postecoglou, hasn’t been smooth sailing.

From what we've observed, the Spurs manager still doesn’t seem to have full trust in James Maddison.

The 28-year-old Englishman has received mixed reviews this season, in addition to being relegated to the bench at least seven times in the Premier League.

In response, the midfielder scored the winning goal. Let’s remember that he was recently injured and has just returned.

Although his performance was commendable, those present at the match said that the victory and celebrations were overshadowed by chants and protests off the pitch aimed at Daniel Levy.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, the host of the Lilywhite Rose podcast, John Wenham, said that the changes made by the manager have been 'unsettling'.

"Maddison’s numbers this season have actually been really good," Wenham said. "For an attacking midfielder, he has scored more goals in the Premier League than most clubs’ strikers have this season.

“I feel he is always deserving of a starting spot. However, Postecoglou seems to change his midfield every week, which means Maddison has never really been settled during Postecoglou’s entire tenure."

James Maddison at Tottenham

It would indeed be a shame for Maddison to be relegated to the bench after contributing good statistics to the club.

Though we understand that injuries play a significant role in the decisions made by Ange Postecoglou.

According to information from Sofascore, James Maddison has registered 10 goals and 6 assists across all competitions.

Whatever his future at the club may be, we hope Maddison can re-establish himself as a key player under Postecoglou’s system.

This past weekend, there were plenty of games for Tottenham Hotspur loanees. We have already covered the Championship, and League One – for those of you whom may be interested – so let’s go through everything else that happened. Â

How things went for the rest of Tottenham Hotspur's loanees this weekend

Down in the National League, Luca Gunter made his fifth appearance for Wealdstone, as they secured an important 2-1 win away to Yeovil Town. The young Spurs loanee played his part, with a couple of saves in the first half. Â

Despite the win, Wealdstone remain in the relegation zone, although they are in the highest possible spot – 21st – and are just one point off the two sides immediately above them. Next up for the Stones is an away game against Braintree in the league on Wednesday night, at 19:45 GMT. Â

North of the border, Alfie Dorrington was an unused sub, as Aberdeen won 2-1 away to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, their first league victory for over two months. This win has them third in the league, with 38 points from 26 games. Next up is a home game against Kilmarnock next Saturday, for a 15:00 GMT kick off. Â

Over in La Liga, Bryan Gil played 78 minutes for Girona, as they lost 2-1 at home to Getafe. This defeat leaves them in 10th place in the La Liga table, with 31 points from their 24 games so far. Next up is an away game against Real Madrid on Sunday, for a 15:15 GMT kick off.Â

Meanwhile, Alejo Veliz played 12 minutes as Espanyol drew 1-1 at home to Athletic Club. This draw leaves them in 15th place in the La Liga table, with 24 points from 24 games – though just one point off safety. Next up is an away game against Alaves on Saturday, for a 13:00 GMT kick off.  Â

Finally, in the Belgium Pro League, Luka Vuskovic returned from injury to start for KVC Westerlo, as they played Cercle Brugge. Unfortunately, Alfie Devine was not fit to play any part. As for the game, Westerlo would draw 1-1, despite being in front for quite a while. Throughout the game, Vuskovic made; four clearances, two blocked shots, one interception, two tackles, 70 touches, 9/12 aerial duels won, and 3/3 successful dribbles. Â

This draw leaves Westerlo in 12th place, with 30 points from their 26 games so far. Next up is a home game against Charleroi on Saturday, for a 17:15 GMT kick off. Â

Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United by 1-nil at home after a long time being winless streak at their stadium. With a great overall display and effort from the players, the Spurs showed great character, providing the fans with a performance to be proud of.

The first half was dominated by Spurs, mainly in terms of possession and chance creation. However, the second half was head-to-head, as United got more possession while Spurs bet more on transitions. With James Maddison's sole first-half goal, the Spurs reached such necessary three and a performance that Ange will undoubtedly approve. Here are the main three takeaways from Spurs' triumph over Man United:
