According to Lilywhite Rose, an expert when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur academy football - and someone well worth a follow on twitter if you wish to keep up to date with all the musings from the academy - Spurs central defender Alfie Dorrington is set to join Scottish side Aberdeen on loan until the end of the 24/25 season.

Teenage Spurs defender set to move to Aberdeen in Scotland

During the 5-0 win over Southampton back in December, the defender made his first team debut for the club, coming on as a substitute in the closing stages of the game. He has been named on the bench a number of times this season, including in the win over Tamworth in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

As for Aberdeen, they currently sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership, with 35 points from their 22 games so far. Things could have been a lot better, mind you - on the 9th November they were only below Celtic on goal difference, but no wins since then mean they are now a whopping 24 points behind the defending champions.

Nevertheless, there is still plenty to play for, including European spots. Depending on when a deal is done, Dorrington could make his debut on Wednesday evening, when the Dons travel to Glasgow to face Rangers at Ibrox - one of the games he was on the bench for this season was Spurs' trip there in the Europa league last month.

On the 26th of February, he could face up against another Spurs academy centre back, when Aberdeen play away to Ange's old side Celtic, whom have Cameron Carter-Vickers as one of their regular starters in the heart of their defence. He may also face the Tottenham Hotspur linked Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn, Celtic's star man on the right hand side of their attack.

It definitely feels like the next step in Dorrington's career is to make the leap from U21s football to playing regular senior football - so let's hope he will get that at Aberdeen. The other central defender Spurs have on loan at the moment, Ashley Phillips, is having a fruitful spell at Championship side Stoke City, so let's hope for something similar here.

Spurs find out FA Cup fourth round opponents

After scraping past non league side Tamworth FC in the FA Cup third round proper, where they needed extra time, Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn away to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa in the fourth round. The game will be played somewhere between the 7th and 10th of February. The likelihood is it will be the 9th or 10th, with the Carabao Cup second leg set to take place on Thursday, the 6th of February.

Spurs to play fellow Premier League side in fourth round

Pretty safe to say, Spurs will need to play 100x better in that game than they did today, if they are to stand any chance of progressing to the fifth round of the competition. Hopefully it was the wake up call that they needed.

It will be the second all Premier League game in a row for Villa, whom beat West Ham United 2-1 on Friday night. There was an element of fortune to the victory, with their equaliser coming from a corner that should have been awarded as a goal kick.

This game will be the second meeting between the two sides this season, with Spurs coming out as 4-1 victors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, back at the beginning of November. The Premier League game at Villa Park is the penultimate game of the season on the 18th of May.

Last time out away to Villa, we saw Ange's side win 4-0, with all four goals coming in the second half, with two goals each either side of a John McGinn red card for the hosts. Nevertheless, this will be a very difficult game, and was one of the harder games they could have drawn.

Meanwhile, there is a potential treat for Josh Keeley, Jamie Donley, and their Leyton Orient side. Should they overcome Derby County this midweek, when their postponed third round tie is played, they will host Manchester City for their fourth round tie.

It would actually not be the first time that Donley has faced City and Pep Guardiola in his career, having come on as a substitute for Brennan Johnson when Spurs drew 3-3 at the Etihad in November of 2023.

From being moments away from being knocked out to non league opposition in the first round, when Keeley scored a 99th minute equaliser, to being one game away from playing Manchester City. Some journey it has been for the Spurs loanees and their Orient side.

Finally, Matthew Craig and his new Mansfield Town side have a chance to host Premier League side Fulham, should they manage to beat Wigan Athletic in their rearranged tie this midweek.

Harry Kane reminisces on partnership with Heung

During their time in North London together, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son struck together a deadly partnership. Their 47 goal combinations is the most in Premier League history, and by quite a fair way too.

Harry Kane has glowing things to say about Spurs skipper

In a recent interview with L’Equipe, the former Spurs striker was asked about his chemistry with Son, and whether he could recreate it with another player at Bayern Munich. He responded: “I got on incredibly well with Heung-min Son. I also think he's one of the most underrated players in the top leagues. We've always had a very good technical relationship.

But it took on another dimension when José Mourinho came to Spurs. Before, the roles were more established, I was number 9, Sonny was on the left. We already understood each other very well in the game, but under José, we formed more of an attacking duo and there we created an almost telepathic connection with much more changing roles, one time I was upfront, another time I was dropping back to set him up.”

Fans were hoping we could see the same this season with Son and Dominic Solanke. Despite the latter’s elite hold up and overall game, it hasn’t quite happened as a duo so far, but it is still very early days — and you do have to factor in the sheer workload on both players at the moment.

Later on in the interview, Kane also spoke about watching Teddy Sheringham and Jermain Defoe being two of his role models growing up, with the latter of whom briefly crossing paths with Kane in the first team. “At the very beginning, it was Teddy Sheringham who had a very good sense of the game. We could add Ruud van Nistelrooy or Jermaine Defoe who was the Spurs scorer when I was in the youth team.”

Although there will be some Spurs fans who do not care about how Kane does over in Munich, it would feel pretty cool if Tottenham won the Carabao Cup, and Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga in the same season.

The important part is Spurs winning a trophy, but it would feel like a happy ending from a film if both things were to happen. Most importantly, a trophy is won— whilst Kane gets the silverware that has escaped him so long, without the narrative of having to leave Spurs for it, given in this scenario they would have won one.

Match Report: Tamworth 0

Description

On Sunday afternoon, Tottenham Hotspur travelled to the Midlands to face National League side Tamworth, in the FA Cup third round proper.

For the task at hand, Ange went with a strong XI, opting for; Kinsky; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Reguilon; Sarr, Bissouma; Johnson, Maddison, Moore; Werner.

How it all happened when Spurs played Tamworth on Sunday

The game was delayed by five minutes or so, with one of the nets being broken - which had to be fixed by a Tamworth player, who works as a supervisor at Zara.

Within the first 45 seconds, Kinsky was called into action. Beck-Ray Enoru managed to weave through a number of players, before getting a shot off inside the box. The same player whose day job is working at Zara.

After around 17 minutes, another counter attack from the hosts lead to getting a shot away, but Gray was there to block the effort, and send it behind for a corner - which was well claimed by Kinsky.

With a little under ten minutes of the first half remaining, Spurs had their first presentable opportunity of the game. Nice link up in central areas from Maddison and Werner lead to the former having a clean chance at goal, but he could not get the backlift required and his shot was straight at the goalkeeper.

That would be that for the first half, after a really embarrassing 45 minutes from Spurs. Seriously, seriously humiliating.

Ten minutes into the second period, Moore took his man on down the outside, before playing an outside of the foot cross towards the far post. From there, Werner headed the ball back across goal, but it was cleared off the line.

Not long later, Tamworth generated another chance from their giant throw, with Dragusin and Gray having to make crucial blocks inside the area.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Spurs had their first true, clear cut chance of the game. Running through the middle of the pitch, Johnson found Werner with a through ball, but his one on one was a poor finish, and made it too easy for the goalkeeper.

Just a few minutes after, Tamworth had a big chance of their own, from a corner, but could not convert a headed opportunity from close range. Immediately after, Bergvall and Solanke replaced Sarr and Moore.

With twenty minutes or so remaining, a whipped in cross from Reguilon found Johnson at the back post, but he could only stab the ball into the side netting. Tight angle in fairness, but may have done better there.

There were 15 minutes left of normal time when Enoru knocked the ball past Porro, with the Spurs full-back receiving a yellow card for taking him out. Supervisor. At. Zara.

Deep into stoppage time, Tamworth went close from a set piece, twice. The first one was well blocked by Bissouma, and the second was very fortunately a little miskicked. That would be that. An absolutely humiliating game. The first 90 minute draw since the AC Milan second leg in March of 2023.

For extra-time, Ange looked to his bench, as Son, Spence and Kulusevski came on in place of Werner, Dragusin, and Maddison.

After 100 minutes, Spurs finally scored. At long last. After a set-piece, the ball was bundled into his own net by a Tamworth player. The pass from Porro to take the free-kick was clever, but everything else was very fortunate.

One minute into the second half of extra time, a low driven strike from Kulusevski into the bottom corner ended the tie. Make no mistake about it, this was absolutely humiliating. Fans have been crying out for Solanke and Kulusevski to get some rest, and they ended up having to player 52 and 30 minutes respectively against non league opposition. Another 30 minutes for the shattered Son too.

With three minutes remaining, the ball fell to Johnson inside the box, with a smart, swept finish into the far bottom corner. Has there ever been a more annoying 3-0 in football history?

Get out of there, and pretend that game never happened. Very frustrating day. Had Solanke started the game, and been taken off at half time, he would have played fewer minutes than he did. The likes of Kulusveski and Son playing half an hour, not optimal.

Three days before the North London derby, this felt like a good opportunity to get plenty of rest in, whilst they have an intense game against Manchester United. Never mind. In the hat. We go again.

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a rising star in European football, with manager Ange Postecoglou keen to bolster his attacking options.

The target in question is none other than Anis Hadj Moussa, the 22-year-old forward currently playing for Feyenoord.

As the North London club seeks to reinforce its attacking depth, Moussa’s performances this season have turned heads, with several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, now monitoring his progress closely.

While Tottenham remains embroiled in the Randal Kolo Muani transfer saga this window, a new rumour begins to stir among the whispers.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Anis Hadj Moussa

Spurs are reportedly keen to add Moussa to their attacking ranks, looking for a player capable of operating across the front line, adding tactical flexibility to Postecoglou's dynamic system.

The club has been tracking Moussa's progress closely, sending scouts to watch him in action on multiple occasions.

According to reports from Football Insider, Tottenham are one of the Premier League clubs most interested in the Algerian international.

However, Tottenham faces strong competition for Moussa’s signature, particularly from Liverpool, who are also believed to be interested in securing his services.

Despite the competition, Spurs are prepared to make a move either in the upcoming January transfer window or in the summer if needed.

This flexible approach highlights Tottenham’s determination to add quality to their squad while being mindful of the need for strategic acquisitions that align with their long-term vision under Postecoglou.

Moussa’s impressive season at Feyenoord

Moussa's performances this season have certainly justified the growing interest. Since joining Feyenoord in the summer, the 22-year-old has made a significant impact.

With six goals and two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions, Moussa has proven to be a valuable asset for his team.

Anis Hadj Moussa's stats from the 2024/25 season:

*Data provided by Sofascore.

His standout moment came in the UEFA Champions League, where he scored and provided an assist in Feyenoord's thrilling 3-3 draw against Manchester City in November, earning a well-deserved man-of-the-match performance.

Moussa’s potential is evident, and his recent form has only heightened Tottenham’s interest.

With a contract running until June 2029, Feyenoord is in no rush to sell, meaning Spurs may face a complex negotiation process.

Despite this, Tottenham’s scouts and Ange Postecoglou's tactical vision make Anis Hadj Moussa an ideal candidate to strengthen their attacking depth for the future.

Tottenham would need to pay £21m for Manchester City, Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to explore their options ahead of the January transfer window, with midfield reinforcements reportedly high on the agenda.

While recent headlines have focused on Spurs’ interest in forwards and centre-backs, the club is now linked with several central midfielders as they look to strengthen under Ange Postecoglou.

With names like Randal Kolo Muani still in the rumour mill and reports of a young talent choosing Spurs over Manchester City, the club’s transfer strategy appears to be focused on building a competitive squad for the second half of the season.

The latest developments indicate that Tottenham are considering an intriguing option from Serie A.

Tottenham would need to pay £21m for Nicolo Fagioli

According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham are monitoring Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, who could be available for a fee of approximately £21m.

This price reportedly makes Fagioli one of the more economical options on Tottenham’s radar, especially when compared to other targets like Davide Frattesi from Inter Milan, whose valuation is nearly double.

Fagioli, an academy graduate at Juventus, is said to be out of favour with head coach Thiago Motta, who reportedly sees the midfielder as a poor fit for his tactical plans.

This situation has opened the door for a potential transfer, and Tottenham appear to be one of several clubs ready to take advantage.

However, Spurs will face competition from multiple Premier League sides, including Manchester City, Aston Villa, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest, with Crystal Palace allegedly already initiating talks with Juventus.

Why are Spurs interested in Nicolo Fagioli?

The 22-year-old midfielder is viewed as a promising talent with significant potential to develop under the right guidance.

Despite his limited opportunities at Juventus this season, Fagioli has shown glimpses of his technical ability and composure in central midfield.

For Tottenham, the addition of Fagioli could provide a valuable boost to their depth, especially considering injuries and the high demands of the Premier League.

With players like Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur in the squad, Fagioli could complement the current options while offering versatility in Postecoglou’s system.

Whether Spurs will move quickly to secure Fagioli’s signature remains to be seen, but his availability at £21m makes him an attractive proposition for a club seeking smart investments this winter.

Revealed: Player turned down Manchester City to join Tottenham

Tottenham’s project under Ange Postecoglou continues to attract attention from players and fans alike.

With the team’s interest in Randal Kolo Muani still making headlines and Spurs loanees impressing across Europe, the club is creating a strong foundation for its future.

Recent performances from Spurs players in La Liga have also given supporters reasons to be optimistic about the depth of talent in the squad.

In the midst of these developments, one of Tottenham’s most promising signings has opened up about a significant decision that could shape his career.

The decision to turn down one of Europe’s biggest clubs in favour of Spurs highlights the club’s rising reputation and the confidence players have in Postecoglou’s vision for the future.

Luka Vuskovic explains why he chose Tottenham over Manchester City

Luka Vuskovic, a 17-year-old centre-back signed by Tottenham in 2023, has revealed that he turned down an approach from Manchester City to join Spurs.

Speaking to Nieuwsblad, Vuskovic shared how the move unfolded and why he was drawn to Tottenham’s project.

“Manchester City was the first club to approach me. Shortly after, my dad told me Tottenham were also interested. When I heard the details, I was convinced,” the Croatian defender explained.

Vuskovic has spent the current season on loan at Westerlo in Belgium, where his performances in the Jupiler Pro League have been impressive.

He’s showcased his defensive prowess while also contributing six goals, earning rave reviews and raising expectations among Spurs fans ahead of his return to London.

The teenager also expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play alongside Tottenham’s top defenders in the near future, saying, “Playing alongside defenders like Micky van de Ven or Romero is a dream. You naturally make progress in such an environment and you have to because the Premier League is such an intense competition.”

Why are young talents choosing Tottenham?

Tottenham’s ability to attract elite young players isn’t limited to Vuskovic. Other talents, like Lucas Bergvall, who reportedly rejected Barcelona, and Archie Gray, who turned down Liverpool and Manchester City, have also joined Spurs.

This trend reflects the club’s growing reputation as a platform for development. Under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham has built a system that prioritises opportunities for young players and fosters growth in a competitive environment.

For Vuskovic, this decision appears to be paying off, and fans will be eager to see how his journey unfolds once he arrives at Hotspur Way.

Tottenham battle Manchester United for Bournemouth defender

Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in a challenging situation, with injuries depleting their options at left-back.

While Destiny Udogie’s absence is a major blow, other key defenders, including Ben Davies and Micky van de Ven, are also sidelined.

This leaves manager Ange Postecoglou searching for solutions. Among the potential answers is Bournemouth's young star, Milos Kerkez, a player who has caught the attention of several top clubs.

Tottenham express interest in Milos Kerkez

Rumours of Tottenham’s interest in Kerkez have been circulating for weeks, and the 21-year-old seems like an ideal fit for the club’s system.

However, Spurs are not the only team in the race, with Manchester United reportedly leading the chase.

Milos Kerkez, currently playing for Bournemouth, has become a hot topic in the transfer market.

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently confirmed on The Last Word on Spurs Tottenham's interest in the player but acknowledged Manchester United’s position as the frontrunners.

Bournemouth, however, are reluctant to sell the defender in January and have set a steep asking price of £40 million.

Jacobs explained the situation: "Tottenham are there for Milos Kerkez, for example, along with Manchester United, who are probably the front-runners at this stage.

" I don’t think Bournemouth will sell in January. They want 40-plus million. But in the summer, Kerkez has got a new agent. So let’s wait and see."

Interestingly, Jacobs also pointed out that Manchester United’s pursuit of PSG’s Nuno Mendes could influence Kerkez’s availability.

Should United secure Mendes, Tottenham could find themselves in a stronger position to sign the player in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s calculated approach

Ange Postecoglou has been clear about his transfer philosophy. He has no intention of making panic buys or bringing in players who don’t fit the club’s long-term vision.

Speaking about potential reinforcements, Postecoglou stated: "I’m really reluctant just to bring in another body just for the sake of it. It’s got to be somebody who either fits into what we’re doing or he’s going to help us straight away."

With Ben Davies and Micky van de Ven expected to return soon, Tottenham may resist rushing into the market. However, if Kerkez represents a long-term investment, Spurs could prioritise the move.

Whether in January or the summer, Kerkez remains a promising target for a position that Tottenham desperately need to strengthen.

For now, Tottenham must decide whether to push for a January deal or wait until the end of the season. With Kerkez reportedly keen to remain in England, Spurs might still have an edge in the long run.

Tottenham persist in pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani – Is he truly the right fit?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Randal Kolo Muani has been the talk of the transfer market in recent weeks.

The French forward, currently at Paris Saint-Germain, is at the centre of a heated bidding war involving major European clubs.

While Spurs are pulling out all the stops to secure the striker, competition from Juventus and Manchester United could complicate matters.

Despite his recent struggles in Paris, Kolo Muani remains a highly sought-after talent, and Tottenham appear determined to add him to their squad.

However, with rumours swirling and negotiations intensifying, the North London club’s chances of landing the player are far from guaranteed.

What’s the latest on Tottenham’s pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani?

According to The Boy Hotspur, reports suggest that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has taken a hands-on approach by flying to France to negotiate directly with PSG.

The aim is to finalise a deal for Kolo Muani, who joined PSG last summer in a €90 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Juventus have reportedly taken significant steps of their own. Director Cristiano Giuntoli recently hinted at progress, stating there could be “positive news over the next week” regarding Kolo Muani.

This announcement has sparked speculation that the Serie A club are closing in on the French international.

Meanwhile, Tottenham remain resolute in their pursuit. Injury concerns in their attacking lineup, particularly around Richarlison, have heightened the urgency to secure a versatile forward like Kolo Muani.

Ange Postecoglou, Spurs’ manager, sees the 24-year-old as a perfect fit for his attacking system.

Kolo Muani’s form: a mixed picture

While his time at PSG has been underwhelming—just two goals and one assist in 14 appearances—Kolo Muani’s record at Eintracht Frankfurt tells a different story.

In the 2022–23 Bundesliga season, he netted 15 goals and provided 11 assists, showcasing his immense potential.

Across all competitions for the German club, he tallied 26 goals and 17 assists, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents.

Speaking to Tottenham News, injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar has weighed in on Kolo Muani’s fitness, cautioning Tottenham against expecting him to deliver immediately.

"If the idea is to have him come in immediately and play big minutes, then his lack of minutes this season could be a concern," Brar noted.

"My advice would be to gradually ramp up his minutes in the first few weeks rather than expect him to start every game right away."

Negotiations are heating up, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Will Tottenham seal the deal, or will Juventus swoop in and steal Kolo Muani right from under them?

Spurs loan watch: Tough day at the office in Belgium

Having had a winter break since Boxing Day, this weekend marked the return of the Belgian Pro League. With it, there was action for Tottenham Hotspur loanees Luka Vuskovic, Alfie Devine, and their KVC Westerlo side, as they hosted St. Truidense on Saturday afternoon.

How the return of the Belgian Pro League went for loanees

You know the drill by now - both Vuskovic and Devine were in the XI. Only George Abbott at Notts County can compete in terms of regular football from minute one out of all of the Tottenham Hotspur loanees this season.

It would however, be the nightmare start - with their visitors taking the lead in the game after just six minutes.

However, it would be the perfect end to the half. Just as it looked like Westerlo were going to trail heading into the half time break, Devine grabbed an equaliser three minutes into stoppage time. After a corner was cleared, the on loan Spurs midfielder swung a cross back into the box, with the ball going all the way past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

However, twenty minutes into the second half, the visitors retook the lead, leaving Westerlo just one point above being in the Belgian Pro League releagation round, which is made up of the bottom four teams in the division.

That would be the final goal of the game, and Westerlo were condemned to another defeat, making it seven games without a win, including six in the league. Things would get even worse, however. Five minutes into stoppage time, Vuskovic was given a yellow card for dissent, before eventually being given his marching orders - meaning he will be suspended for their next game.

Another defeat and a red card for Vuskovic, pretty miserable day. Still, at least it was a productive day for Devine. Aside from his goal, he got another 90 minutes under his belt, and recorded; two chances created, three shots, 3/3 ground duels won, one foul drawn, one interception, and two tackles.
