Spurs interested in PSV defender

As per a report, Tottenham Hotspur have listed PSV Eindhoven central defender Olivier Boscagli as a target for the January transfer window. The same source mentioned interest in Dominic Solanke as far back as April of last year.

Spurs said to be interested in French defender from PSV

Back in the summer of 2019, Boscagli joined Dutch giants PSV from Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, for a fee of around 2 million Euros, and has enjoyed a successful time in the Netherlands since, winning four trophies. He played 33/34 games last season, as PSV won the title with a record 91 points - just 11 points dropped all season. The defender also won the U19 Euros with France back in 2016.

Whilst the quality of the Eredivise is perhaps not the best, there have been recent examples of players coming over to the Premier League and thriving. Cody Gakpo is one of Liverpool's biggest attacking threats, and Everton central defender Jarrad Branthwaite had a successful loan at PSV back in the 22/23 season - a player who has also been linked to the club this month.

The 27-year old, like Branthwaite, is a left footed central defender. He has a pretty good injury record, missing just 15 career games, and five since 16/17, outside of a one off ACL injury he picked up in April of 2022, which lead to PSV singing the Everton defender on loan for that 22/23 season.

For those that are that way inclined, his fbREF makes for good reading. The defender ranks in the 99th percentile for passes attempted, progressive passes, progressive carries, as well as assists, npxG+ xAG, and shot creating actions - when compared to other central defenders. Sure, numbers do not always tell the full story, but you can tell by this data that he is clearly a very capable ball playing defender - something that Tottenham need.

Although, as mentioned above - Boscagli won the U19 Euros with France back in 2016, he is still yet to be capped by Didier Deschamps at senior level. That is no bad thing though. Spurs know only too well from Cristian Romero how international can seriously cripple your options. Having a weeks rest every month for the first three months of the season, as well as summers off, would be quite a refreshing change to what the club have been used to over the years.

As always, let's wait and see what happens. Certainly a position of need.

Tottenham target comments that he 'feels good' at current club amid speculation

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing up a move for Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso, a 24-year-old American international.

The North London club had the option to sign Cardoso last summer as part of the deal to send Giovani Lo Celso back to the Spanish side.

Originally, Tottenham were expected to make their move for Cardoso in the summer of 2025.

Tottenham's move for Johnny Cardoso

However, new reports suggest Spurs are now considering bringing forward their interest, potentially signing him in January.

Cardoso has become a key figure for Real Betis, attracting attention from several major European clubs, including AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid.

While Tottenham would prefer to wait until the summer to trigger the £25 million release clause for the midfielder, reports indicate that the club may not be willing to risk missing out on him if other teams start making advances.

Despite being on the radar of top clubs, Cardoso seems to be fully focused on his current season at Betis.

In an interview with Marca, he commented on his concentration, saying, "I feel good, this motivates me even more to continue working, evolving and seeking to achieve great goals."

While the midfielder's current focus remains on his objectives with the Spanish club, Tottenham may soon try to bring him back to the Premier League earlier than expected.

Although a defensive midfielder might not be at the top of Tottenham's January wish list, they may see Cardoso as a valuable addition, especially given Yves Bissouma's inconsistent performances this season.

Spurs have struggled to find a reliable option in the middle of the park, and Cardoso’s arrival could offer them much-needed reinforcement.

A player with big potential

Cardoso’s development at Betis has been promising, making him a solid prospect for Tottenham.

His composure and adaptability in midfield have caught the eye of many, and his potential for improvement under a manager like Ange Postecoglou could see him thrive at Spurs.

Should Tottenham decide to act quickly, the club could secure a player capable of contributing to the team for years to come.

In short, while Tottenham’s move for Cardoso may not be a pressing priority, the club are seriously considering an early transfer if competition heats up.

Spurs fans will be watching closely to see if the midfielder's future lies in North London sooner rather than later.

Spurs linked midfielder left out of side on Saturday

Over the last few months, we have seen Tottenham Hotspur linked to LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes a number of times – reaching all the way back to September. During and since the summer, they have also been linked with his team mate Jonathan David. Both players are out of contract in the summer, and are set to wind down their contracts in the summer, if they are not sold this month. Â

There has been a somewhat interesting development in terms of Gomes’ future. In Lille’s 1-1 draw at home to Nantes on Saturday evening, the England international remained an unused sub for the entire game, despite being one of the club’s more important players over the last few years.

Spurs linked midfielder left out of side on Saturday night

Players can be rotated sometimes, but to not come on at all felt particularly noticeable. Meanwhile, the other Spurs linked player, the aforementioned David, played for the whole 90 minutes. Could this mean that they see Gomes as already out of the door, and David less so? Perhaps some straw clutching, but it did jump out as a bit strange.

With his contract soon expiring, you would imagine that the 24-year old would not cost a big fee. As he can now speak to clubs in England (or anywhere outside of France), ahead of a move in the summer - there is a big chance for Spurs to try and agree personal terms with the midfielder – which could, in turn, help fast forward a move to this window. Â

There is very little doubt that Gomes would add incredible quality to the midfield. He would add a dynamic option, who could help the team both in and out of possession – whilst also helping regarding the homegrown quota. However, with the current situation in defence, and the form of James Maddison this season, you would feel that other positions are of greater need and priority, so there is that to take into consideration too. High level source confirms interest in PSG forward

Over the past few weeks, we have seen Tottenham Hotspur links to a number of players. One of those players has been Paris Saint Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, who has been linked to the club by various sources.

Spurs linked to an out of favour versatile PSG attacker

Now, we have seen highly reputable insider Paul O Keefe confirm that the forward interests Spurs "a lot", amidst all of the current talk. However, if they do want to bring him to North London, they will potentially have to act fast, with fellow Premier League side Aston Villa also said to be interested in the Frenchman.

Back in the 22/23 season, Kolo Muani built a reputation as one of the most highly thought of attackers in Europe, as he scored 15 goals and provided a further 11 assists for Frankfurt in just 2646 minutes. That same season, he scored for France in their World Cup semi-final against Morocco, and was incredibly close to scoring the winning goal in the dying seconds of the final. He currently has 27 caps for Les Blues.

Off the back of that season, the France international got a move back to his homeland to join PSG in the summer of 2023, for around 90 million Euros, but has not lived up to the billing so far, particularly this season, falling seriously out of favour under manager Luis Enrique.

In the 23/24 season, he played 26 and started 13 Ligue 1 games - scoring six goals. This season, he has played 10 and started just two games in the league, scoring twice in that time. It is clear for everyone that he needs something different in January, and that his days in the capital are numbered.

Quality wise, Spurs could probably do better than Kolo Muani, but he does give genuine versatility across the whole front line. Ange has been unable to give adequate rest to Dominic Solanke due to a lack of available back up, something that this signing would be able to give them.

He would be a better option in attack than Timo Werner. Sure, that should not be the benchmark, not at all - but beggars cannot be choosers at the moment. That isn't to say you should lower your standards due to a lack of club ambition, rather just talking based on the current situation. On a simple loan deal, this could be a somewhat useful deal for the club.

Let's see what happens.

Tottenham Hotspur keen to bring defender back to England

In recent days, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Fikayo Tomori, the England international currently at AC Milan.

With Tottenham looking to bolster their defence, the 27-year-old centre-back’s potential return to the Premier League has caught the attention of many.

The real story behind Tottenham’s interest in Tomori is now coming to light.

Tottenham are interested in Fikayo Tomori

Reports suggest that Tomori, who has been a key figure for Milan in previous seasons, has struggled to maintain his place in the starting XI this campaign.

This has led to speculation that he could be seeking a move in January to secure regular game time.

Tottenham, in need of defensive reinforcements, have reportedly been approached with the chance to bring him back to England. However, new developments could influence whether or not this deal goes through.

According to a recent update, it was not Tottenham who initially pursued Tomori, but rather the player’s representatives who offered him to the North London club.

The update from TEAMtalk suggests that Milan's new managerial change, with Sergio Conceicao replacing Paulo Fonseca, has left Tomori’s future in limbo.

While it remains 'very possible' that the defender will leave Milan this month, Tottenham is still weighing up whether to make a move.

However, Spurs' potential interest comes with a few caveats. Given the strong defensive partnership between Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, it seems unlikely that Tomori would be an automatic starter at Tottenham.

What’s at Stake for Fikayo Tomori?

If Tomori’s primary goal is to secure a regular starting spot, he may find it difficult to achieve that at Spurs, especially without guarantees from manager Ange Postecoglou.

If Tomori is indeed seeking consistent game time, Tottenham might not be the right fit.

While Spurs are looking to strengthen their squad, Postecoglou is unlikely to offer any player assurances about their role in the starting lineup.

The competition for places in the defence is fierce, and it’s unclear whether Tomori would be able to displace the current first-choice pairing.

With Milan under new management, Tomori’s future is still uncertain, but if he decides to leave, the competition for his signature will undoubtedly be fierce, with several clubs across Europe keeping tabs on the player.

Pundit drops exciting Tottenham transfer window claim that will thrill Spurs fans

Tottenham Hotspur are often at the centre of transfer speculation, and as we edge closer to the January window, the excitement is growing.

With a squad that needs bolstering in several key areas, Spurs supporters are eager to see which players could be arriving at North London.

But, as with every transfer window, there are plenty of twists and turns ahead.

While the general feeling is that January markets are typically quieter than summer ones, Tottenham might just be in a position to break the norm this time around.

Financial experts are weighing in, and some of their insights might be exactly what Spurs fans have been waiting to hear.

Kieran Maguire's bold statement on Tottenham's spending power

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has recently explained why Tottenham Hotspur could be one of the Premier League’s biggest spenders in the upcoming January transfer window.

Speaking to The Standard, Maguire highlighted the club's financial flexibility, particularly with regards to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

"Tottenham can spend money, but you are never quite sure. They tend to be followers rather than leaders. Spurs are in a fantastic position. Their wages as a proportion of revenue is lower than anybody else,” Maguire said, offering an optimistic view on Spurs’ ability to move quickly when it comes to reinforcing their squad.

This financial breathing room is significant. Spurs have a relatively low wage bill compared to other top Premier League clubs, which puts them in a solid position to make moves if they wish.

With chairman Daniel Levy under increasing pressure from supporters to support his manager, the window could see the arrival of several fresh faces.

What can Spurs fans expect?

Reports indicate that Spurs could be one of the most active clubs in January, with some sources suggesting that as many as five players could arrive.

Recently a report even claimed that Tottenham are set to sign a goalkeeper from Czech Republic.

Whether these reports turn out to be accurate remains to be seen, but the excitement surrounding potential signings is palpable.

There is also speculation that Tottenham might opt for a more conservative approach, focusing on adding depth to the squad rather than pursuing big-money signings.

Maguire himself pointed out that while clubs are generally in a better financial position than in the summer, it only takes one major deal to start a ripple effect throughout the market.

"Manchester City have got a lot of money to spend, so if they sign a couple of players . If somebody decides that they are going to sign one of their summer targets in January, then that could accelerate things," he added.

Spurs loan watch: League One round up

In League One, Tottenham Hotspur loanees, Josh Keeley, Jamie Donley, and their Leyton Orient side were looking to continue their excellent form of late, that had seen them rise from 21st to 8th in the space of one month, as they hosted 22nd place Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon at 15:00 GMT.

Another brilliant days work for Tottenham Hotspur loanees

For the eighth game in a row, both Keeley and Donley were named in the starting XI by Orient manager Richie Wellens. As usual, Donley started as a number ten in the 4231 set up that is regularly deployed.

After a pretty uninspiring first half, where the sides remained deadlocked, Donley missed a good chance right in stoppage time. Then, the game began to open up more during the second period. Then, 18 minutes into the half, the midfielder redeemed himself, as he got his name on the scoresheet once again, finishing from an incredibly acute angle down the right hand side. Some way to celebrate his 20th birthday.

He would be celebrating even more 30 minutes later, as his goal was enough to secure yet another three points for the O's, with another clean sheet for Keeley, who has conceded in just one game since the 30th of November. Today's game was one of the easier shutouts during that period, with the keeper not having to face a single shot on target all game.

Perfect day all around. Clean sheet for Keeley, goal for Donley on his birthday, and all three points for Orient. The now 20-year old did get a birthday card from the referee - his first booking in the league so far this season.

Due to other teams close to them in the league also winning their games, the O's remain in eight place, despite this win. However, they are now just three points off a play-off position, with 37 points from 24 games, as they continue to put pressure on those within the top six.

Next up is a break from league action, as they continue their FA Cup journey, with a home game against Championship side Derby County - whom are only 14 places further up the pyramid than Orient. As most people will know, this game will be taking place as a result of Keeley's improbable last minute goal at home to Oldham Athletic, in the second round, that sent the game to extra-time in an eventual win.

Kick off for that game is 18:00 BST next Saturday.

Once again, Matthew Craig was not named in the Barnsley match day squad. Keep an eye out for updates on that situation over the coming days.

Spurs set to sign goalkeeper

Description

According to reports from many high profile and reputable journalists, such as David Ornstein of The Athletic - Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete the signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague on a five and half year contract.

Spurs set to sign young goalkeeper from the Czech Republic

The goalkeeper is just 21-years old, which is young for an outfield player never mind goalkeeper, and is described as "very highly rated" (mind you, feels like nearly every young signing is described as that), and "not seen as back up", with the keeper seen to challenge for the number one spot.

Back in November, we saw Guglielmo Vicario need surgery on an ankle injury picked up in the win over Manchester City, where he played on for an hour. Since then, Fraser Forster has filled in, sometimes admirably, sometimes a lot less so. Even he managed to fall victim to this current pandemic of unavailable players, with Brandon Austin making his debut in the game against Newcastle.

So, it is clear that the club needed to make a move for a goalkeeper, as well as a number of other positions. To date, Kinsky has four caps for the Czech Republic U21 side, and was called up to the senior team last autumn. His father, who shares the same name, was also a professional goalkeeper, and made five appearances for the senior team in the early 2000's.

We will have to see how quickly Spurs can get this deal done. With the semi-final first leg against Liverpool on Wednesday evening, it certainly cannot come quick enough. Quite the game to make your debut in, mind you, but serious needs must at this stage.

It will be interesting to see how Spurs play this. Whilst it was mentioned above that he is going to push for the number one spot, should Vicario continue to keep his place - will it be useful for his development to remain on the bench at such a young age? Perhaps we will see a loan to a top five league, with Tottenham bringing in a short term number two to back up Vicario.

Regardless, it is good to see the club moving relatively quickly in the window. This window needs to be a busy one if there is any chance of being able to salvage this season, particularly in the Europa League - which you feel is the best chance of a trophy this season.

Match Report: Tottenham Hotspur 1

Description

To get the ball rolling for match day 20 in the 24/25 Premier League season, an incredibly depleted Spurs side welcomed Newcastle United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs condemned to yet another defeat amidst their pandemic

Coming into the game, Tottenham had a ridiculous injury list, which was only further toppled after a sickness bug became apparent in the squad, which only further worsened an already very difficult situation.

With his hand extremely forced, Ange went for a line up of; Austin; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Spence; Sarr, Bergvall; Johnson, Solanke, Werner. With Heung-Min Son and James Maddison on the bench, and Cristian Romero injured - Kulusevski lead the players out for this one.

It would take Spurs just four minutes to take the lead. Nice link up down the right hand side from Bergvall, Johnson and Porro lead to a first time, whipped in cross from the latter, that was superbly met by Solanke, who glanced a header home, in front of the new England manager Thomas Tuchel.

The lead would last just one minute though. High pressing from Newcastle lead to a turnover, with Anthony Gordon slotting home with a left footed finish when played in on goal. Fans were very frustrated after the ball hit Joelinton's hand. Sure, it was not a deliberate touch, but the ball is not turned over without the ball hitting his hand. So, really, that should not count.

Just over ten minutes in, good work from Johnson lead to the forward laying the ball off for Solanke, whose shot was very well blocked by Sven Botman. Sod's law that a player for the opposition was fit for the game after 10 months out, given the amount of absentees that Spurs currently have.

With just over 20 minutes on the clock, Gordon ran through on goal again, in a similar way to how he did for the goal, but this time his left footed effort was saved by Austin in the Spurs goal.

Not long after the half hour mark, an inviting cross from Jacob Murphy found Alexander Isak inside the box, but the striker could only touch his effort wide of the post, in an absolutely huge let off for Ange Postecoglu's side.

Around eight minutes before half-time, the visitors had the lead. Another ball in from Murphy caused problems, with the ball deflecting off Dragusin into the path of Isak, who this time diverted the ball into the bak of the net. That would be enough for the visitors to go into the break 2-1 up

At half-time, Ange introduced Reguilon for Dragusin, with Spence moving to centre-back. Sums it up that Ange would sooner Spence than Dragusin in his own position. So for the second half, Spurs' centre-back duo consisted of 23/24 Leeds United's first choice right-back, and 23/24's Leeds' second choice right-back.

Just before the 55 minute mark, a curling effort from Sarr was kept out by Martin Dubravka, with Johnson striking the post from the rebound - with the angle incredibly acute. Soon after, Gordon should have made it 3-1 to the visitors, but fired well over the bar when well placed.

On the hour, Ange made a triple change, introducing; Son, Maddison, and Bissouma for Werner, Sarr, and Bergvall. The withdrawal of Bergvall resulted in quite a few boos around the ground.

With just under ten minutes left, Maddison drove inside from a short corner, and shot just wide. Moments later, Spurs had their best opportunity of the game, but Johnson crossed when he should have shot, and Reguilon shot when he should have crossed.

That would be that, and Tottenham Hotspur were condemned to another defeat, with Newcastle coming away 2-1 winners.

The effort was there, the endeavour was there, and the second half performance was fine. The one criticism would be in the most part, Spurs did not really open Newcastle up. Despite ten minutes of added time, it never felt like the equaliser was coming. There were some half chances, but outside of the above attack - there were not many "big" chances.

Fabrizio Romano shares key update on Tottenham transfer target

Description

Tottenham are always active in monitoring defensive reinforcements, especially with the January transfer window fast approaching.

However, their name has recently been linked with a player whose circumstances may raise eyebrows among fans.

While the North London side are known for their meticulous approach to transfers, reports surrounding this potential addition have been anything but clear.

One moment, the player is touted as a target; the next, it's suggested the club were approached instead. Amid the speculation, Fabrizio Romano has provided some much-needed clarity.

The Italian transfer expert has shed light on the future of a player who was once a rising star in the Premier League but has seen his career take an unexpected turn.

Tottenham target Ben Godfrey is no longer part of Atalanta's plans

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Ben Godfrey, currently at Atalanta, is no longer part of the Italian club’s plans.

The former Everton defender moved to Serie A last summer but has struggled to secure consistent game time under Gian Piero Gasperini.

His exclusion from Atalanta’s Super Cup squad was the clearest indication yet that his time in Bergamo is coming to an end.

Although some outlets initially linked Tottenham with a potential move for the versatile defender, Romano clarified that Ipswich Town are now leading the race for his signature.

Talks between Ipswich and Atalanta are underway, with a loan deal being discussed as the most likely outcome.

Romano took to X (formerly Twitter) to state, “Ipswich Town are in talks with Atalanta for Ben Godfrey. Discussions will follow.”

Whether this means Tottenham’s interest was overstated or their priorities lie elsewhere remains unclear.

Tottenham's perspective and fan reactions

For Tottenham, Godfrey’s availability may seem appealing at first glance. The 25-year-old offers pace, versatility, and Premier League experience.

However, his recent struggles raise valid questions about whether he fits the calibre required for a team aiming for silverware.

Fans have voiced skepticism over a potential move, citing the defender’s decline in form over the past 18 months.

Tottenham’s past success with high-quality defensive signings like Cristian Romero further highlights the gap between Godfrey’s current level and what the club demands.

While Ipswich Town appear to be the frontrunners, Tottenham fans can rest assured that their club seems focused on higher-profile targets to strengthen their backline.

Tottenham has also been linked to PSG defender Milan Skriniar, although as we can read in Paris Saint-Germain News, the Slovak is close to being loaned to Galatasaray.
