Women's Super League round-up: North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur ends goalless, Chelsea held by Liverpool

It was another enthralling day of Women's Super League action, but the north London derby ended goalless, with Arsenal kept out by a resilient Tottenham Hotspur side. Elsewhere, Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw away at Liverpool, West Ham United claimed their first win this season as they overcame Everton, London City Lionesses won away at Aston Villa, and Brighton thumped Leicester City.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur remain level on points in the Women's Super League after the north London derby ended goalless at Brisbane Road.

Arsenal, who are now winless in their last three games in all competitions, dominated possession throughout the contest, but struggled to create against a resilient Spurs side.

Their greatest threat came when Olivia Smith was introduced in the second half down their right, but the visitors rarely tested Lize Kop in goal for the home side.

It was another impressive display from Spurs under new manager Martin Ho, responding well to their defeat against London City Lionesses last time out.

The result leaves the teams level on 16 points, with Arsenal in fourth, one place ahead of their local rivals on goal difference.

The two sides, who are now eight points adrift of Manchester City at the summit of the division, missed the chance to climb above Manchester United and into the top three.

Spurs return to action with a trip to Bristol City in the Women's League Cup next Sunday, while Arsenal host Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Chelsea held to draw at Liverpool

Chelsea missed the chance to go within one point of league leaders Manchester City as they were held to a draw away at winless Liverpool.

The champions took the lead at St Helens Stadium after just nine minutes when Alyssa Thompson cut inside and curled home an excellent right-footed finish.

But Sonia Bompastor's side were pegged back by the hosts before the break when Beata Olsson ran through on goal and finished past Livia Peng.

Aggie Beaver-Jones thought she had restored Chelsea's lead after rounding Faye Kirby and tucking home, but the England international was flagged offside.

Chelsea extend their unbeaten streak in the WSL to 34 matches, but they are now three points adrift of City.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are now bottom of the table on just two points from their opening eight matches, two points adrift of West Ham United.

West Ham claim first win of season

West Ham United moved off the foot of the WSL as they claimed their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory at home against Everton.

The Irons, who had only earned their first point of the campaign last weekend, opened the scoring fortuitously as Anouk Denton's skewed cross snuck in at the near post.

The home side doubled their lead shortly before the interval when Amber Tysiak headed home from a corner.

West Ham made it three nine minutes into the second half when Shekiera Martinez tucked a finish past Emily Ramsey after a mistake from Everton when playing out.

Katja Snoeijs struck a late consolation for the visitors two minutes from time, but West Ham held on for the three points.

Rehanne Skinner's side, who moved two points clear of Liverpool, could have won by more, with Verena Hanshaw striking the post at 3-0, while they also had two efforts cleared off the line.

Everton remain in 10th spot and are now just one point ahead of West Ham.

London City close gap on top three

Saki Kumagai bagged a brace as London City Lionesses moved to within two points of the top three with a 3-1 victory away at Aston Villa.

The Japan international gave the visitors the lead after just 12 minutes when she nodded home from a corner.

Villa got back into the contest when Kirsty Hanson's low effort squirmed through the legs of Elene Lete in goal for London City.

But Jocelyn Precheur's side restored their lead shortly after the interval as Isobel Goodwin fired home from close range.

Kumagai then doubled her side's advantage just four minutes later, once again converting with a headed effort from a corner delivery.

London City climbed up to sixth with the victory, two points shy of Manchester United in the Champions League spots.

Villa, meanwhile, drop to eighth, five points behind the visiting side from the capital.

Brighton hit four past Leicester

Brighton & Hove Albion claimed their first WSL win in five games with an emphatic 4-1 victory at home against Leicester City.

The home side held a 1-0 advantage at the break thanks to Madison Haley's clipped finish past Janina Leitzig.

Brighton then doubled their lead just two minutes into the second half as Maelys Mpome found the bottom corner from just inside the area following a turnover high up the pitch.

Leicetser got themselves back into the contest when Shannon O'Brien finished into the far corner for her second goal in two games.

But Marisa Olislagers restored the hosts' two-goal cushion from the edge of the box in the 87th minute, and the three points were sealed as Kiko Seike tucked home a rebound in stoppage time.

The three points take Brighton up to seventh, five points clear of Leicester, who remain down in ninth and without a win since the second game of the season.

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will fight for the second time as their feud continues at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London on Saturday evening. The two fighters first clashed in April 2025, and it was Eubank who carried the night. Both fighters have been talking up the clash with the bitter rivalry set to be renewed to headline a massive card.

Benn dominates Eubank to end second-generation rivalry

Conor Benn dominated Chris Eubank Jr in the ring, knocking him down twice in the final round en route to winning a wide points decision.

Benn was awarded the fight clearly on all three scorecards: 119-107, 116-110 and 118-108.

From the first round Benn took control of the centre of the ring with his jab far more potent than it was in the first round.

Eubank, who came to the ring in a mink coat accompanied by 50 Cent, looked a lackadaisical figure throughout the contest.

Other than the third, seventh and eighth, he did not just lose the rounds, he was dominated in them.

As the fight went on, Benn continually landed body shots which slowed his rival further.

The fight was petering out, with Eubank clearly not having enough energy to force a knockout, until the dramatic final round.

Benn landed a one-two with the right hand landing on Eubank's temple and saw him crash back onto the canvas. Eubank managed to tie Benn up afterwards but was punched in the side of the head and sent face first into the mat. Once more Eubank got up and the bell rang to at least spare him the humiliation of being stopped.

Afterwards Benn said he will move down two divisions to welterweight.

"Any of those yanks can get, any day of the week and twice on Sundays," Benn said referring to WBC champion Mario Barrios and Devin Haney.

Eubank hints at trouble in preparations for fight

Chris Eubank Jr paid tribute to his rival's performance but hinted his preparation for the fight contributed to a lacklustre performance.

"I have been through hell and back to get to this night and it is what it is," Eubank said.

"I tried my best, the kid fought hard and tough, he has got power.

"Conor Benn was the best man tonight. Congratulations to him."

'This is the end' - Benn

Conor Benn insists there will be no trilogy with Chris Eubank Jr.

"It has been some journey and I feel like this is the end of the Benn-Eubank saga," Benn said in the ring after the fight.

"It is done, finished, over. This ends here. Everyone said I can't box. How about that?

"It has gone quiet real quick. This wouldn't have been what it was without Chris and our dads. Credit to Chris."

Benn wins on points!

A wide points victory for Conor Benn. He wins on the scorecards 119-107, 116-110 and 118-108.

Eubank-Benn: Round 12

Benn lands a huge right hand which sees Eubank go down to the canvas and then though Eubank gets up he is set upon by Benn who lands a number of blows. Eubank holds on for dear life before Benn gets loose and with a blow to the side or back of the head sends Eubank face first into the canvas. He gets up again and the bell rings to save him.

Eubank-Benn: Round 11

Eubank lands a few good body shots but again Benn is in control for the vast majority of the round. Again Eubank is pushed to the canvas.

Eubank-Benn: Round 10

Benn keeps dominating the fight with his jab and he is driving in the punch now and following up with short rights. Blood is now coming from the nose of Eubank, who lands with a couple of good shots in the closing stages of the round but it is too litte, too late.

Eubank-Benn: Round 9

Eubank is trying to control the centre of the ring but he does not look to have the tank to fight for two, let alone three minutes of the round. The fight is fairly easy for Benn, with Eubank's shots predictable and the smaller fighter effortlessly getting in and out of range, landing plenty of straight shots to the body.

Eubank-Benn: Round 8

Benn dominates again, landing body shots early in the round and then Eubank spits out his gumshield when trapped in his corner for a few seconds break.The referee takes a shot from Eubank as they both refused to stop hitting and holding - earning a warning from the official. Eubank then bursts out with a couple of shots. Again it is Benn's round though.

Eubank-Benn: Round 7

A big punch from Benn with Eubank on the ropes earns a huge roar from the crowd. Eubank fired back with a couple of shots but there was no doubt that shot had an effect.

Eubank-Benn: Round 6

Even when Eubank lands there does not seem to be a great deal of sting in the punches. Eubank was pushed to the canvas which will feel a good moment for the smaller man. Eubank's feet look like they are in quicksand.

Eubank-Benn: Round 5

A left to the body from Benn seems to make Eubank quiver a little. This is far from the classic of the first fight and it is due to the lackadaisical nature of Eubanks's performance. He landed one right hand when Benn got in too close but other than that it was Benn's round again.

Eubank-Benn: Round 4

Benn was back in control of the fight. Landing his jab with regularity again and backing it up with right hands either to the body or upstairs. Eubank looks in a daze.

Eubank-Benn: Round 3

Eubank defending a bit better in this round. He takes a right uppercut after the referee called break which seemed to spur him into more attacking action. Eubank lands a three punch counter flurry and a strong left hook. Benn is pushed to the canvas once more. I think Eubank won that one.

Eubank-Benn: Round 2

Eubank takes a strong one-two in his own corner and then pushes Benn to the canvas. He also lands a good left upstairs then follows up with one to the body. Eubank is hardly landing a jab, while Benn is fairly comfortably. The round ends with Eubank taking another right hand in his corner.

Eubank-Benn: Round 1

Benn takes the centre of the ring and he lands the first good shot of the round a right to the body and then a short right hand. Eubank is more tentative but lands a good right hand himself. Benn is landing his jab better than he did in the first fight. He takes the round though Eubank was better as it went on.

Let's get ready to rumble

The words set off a roar around the arena. Benn is definitely the more popular fighter this time around.

His father has to take a back seat as the rapper sings Many Men (Death Wish).

It morphs into In The Air tonight. He and his father dance to it by the band and then they walk to the ring accompanied by the drummers.

The big fight is next...

Here's my call. I think Eubank is near the end. He willed himself to keep going in the last fight and used his experience to get through and even win the last round. However, he was the fighter most hurt in that round. I don't think BoMac will make that much difference to a fighter at his stage of his career. Benn has the more upside from the last fight. He hurt Eubank last time, I think he stops him this time around.

Essuman up on his feet

After taking oxygen he is able to walk out of the ring under his own steam.

Catterall stops Essuman in Round 11

A controversial end. Essuman went to the canvas, seemingly with a slip, and then the referee called break. Catterall put him down with an uppercut and the referee waved that the knockdown did not count. The fight resumed and Catterall put down Essuman who rolled under the bottom ring rope and is currently being treated.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 10

Catterall controlling the fight with his jab more impressively than he has for a few rounds. Catterall goes out of the ring when Essuman pushes him against the ropes but he gets back in easily enough. It feels Catterall maybe took that round.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 9

Catterall lands a left hand that puts Essuman off balance. It may have been a slip or maybe a shot he didn't see with his closing eye. Essuman remains the busier fighter. He is not called the engine for nothing.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 8

Catterall throws Essuman to the floor as if to show he remains the dominant fighter but it is Essuman who is the busier. Essuman's right eye is almost closed so should be an easy target for a left hand around the guard. A close round but it feels Essuman deserves the benefit of the doubt due to his determination.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 7

Essuman is encouraged after opening up a cut on the edge of Catterall's right eye. Catterall responds with big right body shots but the Chorley fighter is perturbed by the cut and it only leads to Essuman going forward more and being more successful.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 6

Credit to Essuman who came out and maybe took the round with his busy work crowding Catterall. Catterall still landed the punch of the fight, a bruising left hook as Essuman came forward.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 5

This looks like a different Catterall. He comes out looking to finish the job. He is throwing a lot more leather and with dangerous intentions too. This is the best he has looked since that first fight against Jack Taylor. Credit to Essuman he shows ambition throwing a lot of shots as the round comes to an end.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 4

Wow! That was unexpected. A big left hand from Catterall sees Essuman crash to the canvas. A perfect combination of a long right hook, straight left sends Essuman down to the canvas. Catterall follows up with big shots which might have led to a stoppage had the round gone on longer.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 4

Catterall is walking Essuman onto shots and has been opened a cut on the bridge of his opponent's nose.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 3

Essuman really is struggling to get any shots off at all at present, with Caterall having his way with his southpaw jab while his movement gives his opponent nothing to throw at.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 2

Catterall edging the second with his jab, but there is not a great deal in the fight so far with little landing flush.

Catterall-Essuman: Round 1

A bit of a feeling out round, as is so often the case when a southpaw meets an orthodox fighter. No clear winner of it.

Azim stops Scoby in Round 12

Azim keeps the pace up and right hands again wilt Scoby, who on a couple of occasions, holds for a long time. A combination finishing with a left hook sees Scoby take a knee and though he gets up, a little unenthusiastically, the referee waves off the fight.

With the possible exception of Moses Itauma, there is no bigger talent in British boxing.

Azim-Scoby: Round 11

With a minute left in the round, a huge right hand from Azim sees Scoby twist beyond 90 degrees and wobble all over the place. He then uses his upper body strength to hold Azim for almost 20 seconds. Azim lands a few more big right hands before the bell saves him.

Azim-Scoby: Round 10

Rinse and repeat. Azim wins the round in the same manner as he has the last nine. He is six minutes from a shut-out win.

Azim-Scoby: Round 9

Azim still landing numerous shots. Scoby followed up a number of body shots with one which Azim felt was below the border. Scoby indicates the shots are not hurting him but 9-0 up it won't bother Azim.

Azim-Scoby: Round 8

The body shots are now taking their effect on Scoby as he takes gulps of air after them, allowing Azim to follow up with uppercuts in close. He mixes them up going with the right hand to the body and following with hooks upstairs with the same hand.

Azim-Scoby: Round 7

Scoby has a good start landing a good shot to the body but he is then deducted a joint for using his head. It only consolidates Scoby's desire to swing for home run shots. Azim ups his pace and continues to land huge left hooks to the shots while also catching him with right-hand counters upstairs.

Azim-Scoby: Round 6

Scoby gets another warning for using his head. He will soon get a point deducted, though it won't matter too much as he is not going to win this fight on points. Azim still dominates with the jab. Scoby misses wildly with hooks, while Azim's land flush, especially to the body.

Azim-Scoby: Round 5

It has been a very impressive showcase from the Berkshire fighter so far. He makes it look effortless. Scoby has one moment at the end of the round where he uses his strength to push Azim in the corner and land a right hand, but the home fighter looks unfazed.

The Big Man Is Back In Town

Azim-Scoby: Round 4

Azim is keeping the American at range controlling the fight with his jab and feinting to set up hooks and body shots. Scoby is warned twice for using his head. Azim ends the round landing repeated right crosses.

Azim-Scoby: Round 3

A right hand from Scoby grazes Azim's chin and the Brit will have to be careful with his opponent's power. He has been a lot more ambitious in the round. The second half of the round sees Azim land a lot more shots especially to the body.

Azim-Scoby: Round 2

Scoby is mostly content to hold his gloves close to his head to block Azim's jabs. A right hand from Azim got around the guard and Scoby certainly felt that. When Scoby throws anything Azim sees it very clearly and easily weaves out the way of it.

Azim-Scoby: Round 1

The American looks physically imposing but the first round was all Azim with Scoby not having an answer to Azim's blistering handspeed.

Highly-rated super-lightweight Adam Azim (13-0, 10 KOS) takes on trash-talking American Kurt Scoby (18-1, 16 KOs). There was a lot of tension between the pair in the build up.

Okolie next for Riakporhe?

After this contest, a match-up against another Lawrence Okolie, who he had a scuffle with at a film premiere a few years back and were scheduled to meet in April of this year, seems a natural next contest.

"I think it's a fantastic fight at heavyweight," Carl Frampton said. "I think both of them are suited to heavyweight."

Riakporhe stops Welch in Round 2

Riakporhe lands a brutal right hand which sends Welch slamming to the canvas. Welch fights on but his legs were still wobbly. Another right hand saw Welch try to grab the rope as he went down to the canvas. The referee allowed it to go on but another right hand sees Welch go back down to the canvas. The referee waves the fight off.

With his speed and power, he feels suited to this division.

Riakporhe-Welch: Round 1

Not much in the round, Welch ducking low and jabbing up to make life difficult for Riakporhe who at the end of the round seemed to be finding his range. Probably an even round.

Big boys up next!

Unbeaten second generation heavyweight Tommy Welch (16-0, 9 KOs), with former British champion dad Scott in his corner. He takes on former cruiserweight star Richard Riakporhe (18-1, 14 KOs).

Davis wins British title!

He takes the fight on an unanimous decision: 115-114 and 115-113 (twice), to take the Lonsdale belt and Commonwealth title.

Emotional scenes as he is crying, as are his children at ringside.

Gilley-Davis: Round 12

A last round which saw Gilley maybe edging it. Controversy at the end of the fight though as Gilley went down as a shot from Davis landed. The referee waved it off saying it was a slip. It looked like a knockdown to me. It was a flush uppercut. It was by the ringpost in Gilley's corner.

Gilley-Davis: Round 11

A great turnaround from Gilley. He landed aa right uppercut which switched momentum back in his favour. Davis had his head rocked back from a number of shots and though Davis ended the round better it is Gilley's out which will leave the fight close going into the last round. Gilley landed another one low and if Davis loses a close one there will be huge complaints about that.

Gilley-Davis: Round 10

Gilley is still moving a lot in an attempt to keep Davis at bay but crucially his left hand remains low leaving him a sitting duck to Davis' right hands. You can't fault his effort but it is having no effect at present with Davis landing two or three times to one coming back and a particularly brutal one-two which rocked Gilley.

Gilley-Davis: Round 9

Gilley starts quite well but a body shot from Davis saw him physically wilt and he took a combination of hooks upstairs following up. He bravely fires back but his shots are having no effect on Davis now. It looks a matter of if, not when, Davis has his hand raised.

Gilley-Davis: Round 8

Davis is dominating most of the fight now with Gilley unable to or unwilling to use his jab from range. Gilley still has moments like with a right uppercut, right to the body downstairs but he is losing the fight now.

Gilley-Davis: Round 7

Gilley has blood streaming from his nose now as Davis is now continually coming forward. Gilley is still landing a bit but the cleaner and more powerful shots are coming from the challenger. Gilley reacts to Hearn saying 'wooah' at a shot from Davis which missed and repeats the shout to the promoter when he lands shortly afterwards.

Gilley-Davis: Round 6

Davis turns aggressor in this round, with uppercut and hooks in close but Gilley takes a step back and lands with his own straight right hands and hook to the body. He is warned twice for low blows - next time a point will be deducted. Gilley's right eye is closing and Davis is looking to take advantage with left uppercuts and hooks. A fantastic end to the round sees both launching shots. Gilley is still in there but it feels the fight is turning Davis' way.

Gilley-Davis: Round 5

Gilley started the better landing with shots in the first half of the round while Davis was more passive. Davis came back into the contest in the midways point though was stopped by a body shot which was just about on the border. They each have moments in the closing moments, Gilley to the body and Davis countering with a left hook upstairs.

Gilley-Davis: Round 4

A better round for Davis. Gilley being a little too impetuous getting in close where Davis, with his shorter reach, is more suited and can land combinations. His work is far more clean which may help him when it comes to close rounds.

Gilley-Davis: Round 3

Gilley with good work crowding Davis and landing shots trapping his opponent against the ropes. He throws one south of the border which Davis takes just a few seconds to get over. Gilley with another good right to the body, but Davis comes back with a straight right and uppercut near the end of the round.

Gilley-Davis: Round 2

Davis looks sharper in this round, landing flush on Gilley with counters, especially from the southpaw stance, moving in and out of range.

Gilley-Davis: Round 1

Gilley probably takes the fight by virtue of being more aggressive but not much from either fighter really. Davis keeps shifting from orthodox to southpaw to stop his opponent getting rhythm and entice errors.

Not many in attendance yet

But a moment for the Spurs fan Gilley walking in nonetheless, with a cockerel on his coat and Olly Murs carrying his belts.

Gilley is a 3/1 underdog in this contest. It is a testament to how well Davis has fought as the away fighter on recent bills.

Sam Gilley (18-1-1, 9 KOs) takes on Ishmael Davis (14-3, 6 KOs) defending his British and Commonwealth titles.

Tallon stops Shahid in Round 5!

Shahid is being forced to go backwards throughout the round as Tallon lifts the tempo and lands good left hooks upstairs which rocked the outsider. With the end of the round in sight an uppercut Shahid doesn't see sends the fighter to the canvas. Though he gets up and the bell rings, Shahid is wobbling and the referee waves the fight off.

Tallon-Shahid: Round 4

Shahid has some success early with body shots which force Tallon on the back foot, but he soon establishes control again mixing jabs to the body and head.

Tallon-Shahid: Round 3

Tallon landing the right hand more upstairs with some nice looking uppercuts. The round ends with both with bloody noses.

Tallon-Shahid: Round 2

Shahid was hurt again by a body shot, this time a right hand downstairs. He has not lost ambition though and is still matching Tallon for leather thrown, if not landing.

Tallon-Shahid: Round 1

Tallon showing his range of punches with an accurate jab and a nasty left hook to the body. One of which saw Shahid wince. Shahid's best hope is landing a right counter off the jab.

Thinking about the big fight...

The first fight was a slugfest but both will likely look to be more savvy tonight.

Eubank was not accurate enough with the jab to keep Benn at bay, while the Dark Destroyer's son allowed his opponent to crowd him, bully him on the inside and blanket his work.

The little guys will get us underway

A flyweight contest between Mikie Tallon (10-0, 1 KO) and Fezan Shahid 4-2-2. Not a fight you'd expect fireworks in but 1/25 shot Tallon would hope to get a second stoppage win.

Gilley started the better landing with shots in the first half of the round while Davis was more passive. Davis came back into the contest in the midways point though was stopped by a body shot which was just about on the border. They each have moments in the closing moments, Gilley to the body and Davis countering with a left hook upstairs.

A better round for Davis. Gilley being a little too impetuous getting in close where Davis, with his shorter reach, is more suited and can land combinations. His work is far more clean which may help him when it comes to close rounds.

Gilley-Davis: Round 3

Gilley with good work crowding Davis and landing shots trapping his opponent against the ropes. He throws one south of the border which Davis takes just a few seconds to get over. Gilley with another good right to the body, but Davis comes back with a straight right and uppercut near the end of the round.

Gilley-Davis: Round 2

Davis looks sharper in this round, landing flush on Gilley with counters, especially from the southpaw stance, moving in and out of range.

Gilley-Davis: Round 1

Gilley probably takes the fight by virtue of being more aggressive but not much from either fighter really. Davis keeps shifting from orthodox to southpaw to stop his opponent getting rhythm and entice errors.

But a moment for the Spurs fan Gilley walking in nonetheless, with a cockerel on his coat and Olly Murs carrying his belts.

Gilley is a 3/1 underdog in this contest. It is a testament to how well Davis has fought as the away fighter on recent bills.

Shahid is being forced to go backwards throughout the round as Tallon lifts the tempo and lands good left hooks upstairs which rocked the outsider. With the end of the round in sight an uppercut Shahid doesn't see sends the fighter to the canvas. Though he gets up and the bell rings, Shahid is wobbling and the referee waves the fight off.

Shahid has some success early with body shots which force Tallon on the back foot, but he soon establishes control again mixing jabs to the body and head.

Tallon landing the right hand more upstairs with some nice looking uppercuts. The round ends with both with bloody noses.

Tallon-Shahid: Round 2

Shahid was hurt again by a body shot, this time a right hand downstairs. He has not lost ambition though and is still matching Tallon for leather thrown, if not landing.

Tallon-Shahid: Round 1

Tallon showing his range of punches with an accurate jab and a nasty left hook to the body. One of which saw Shahid wince. Shahid's best hope is landing a right counter off the jab.

Thinking about the big fight...

The first fight was a slugfest but both will likely look to be more savvy tonight.

Eubank was not accurate enough with the jab to keep Benn at bay, while the Dark Destroyer's son allowed his opponent to crowd him, bully him on the inside and blanket his work.

The little guys will get us underway

A flyweight contest between Mikie Tallon (10-0, 1 KO) and Fezan Shahid 4-2-2. Not a fight you'd expect fireworks in but 1/25 shot Tallon would hope to get a second stoppage win.

London City - who were beaten 2-0 at Chelsea last weekend - would not be denied, however, as after Julia Roddar had a shot cleared off the line, Amanda Nilden inadvertently touched Wassa Sangare's flick-on from Kosovare Asllani's cross into her own net with nine minutes remaining.

There was still time for Godfrey to add a fourth, three minutes later, stepping inside Nilden to find the far corner and complete a superb individual display.

Speaking to the Barclays WSL YouTube channel, Godfrey said: "It was tough, it was a fight. I think it was more of a fighting game than a tactical game. Sometimes you have those games in football, and we had to be ready to adapt to them.

"I know we didn't get the result we wanted last week, but against the champions, we showed what we're capable of. We want to keep going further.

"The sky is the limit, and we can keep pushing and showing the league what we're capable of. For a promoted team, nobody expected us to do what we have."

Hammers heartbreak as O'Brien rescues Foxes

Meanwhile, there was also heartbreak for West Ham United as Shannon O'Brien's 97th-minute finish denied the Hammers their first win of the campaign, with Leicester City snatching a 1-1 draw.

O'Brien fired in from close range at the far post with virtually the final kick of the game to cancel out Shekiera Martinez's 51st-minute opener.

The result provides West Ham with their first point of the season, but they still remain bottom of the WSL, while Leicester sit ninth on six points, ahead of Everton's home encounter with Manchester City later on Sunday at Goodison Park.

Mbeumo scores again

Fresh off the back of being named the Premier League Player of the Month for October, Bryan Mbeumo impressed yet again.

The summer signing from Brentford scored his fifth Premier League goal in 11 appearances this season after heading Amad Diallo’s cross past Guglielmo Vicario.

The Red Devils went on to control the game well until the 79th minute, when Thomas Frank made an incredibly risky substitution.

Spurs fans outraged

A section of the Tottenham fanbase booed their side off the field following their 1-0 defeat against Chelsea last week, and things appeared to be heading in the same direction against United.

Several Spurs fans reacted negatively to Frank’s decision to replace Simons with Tel in the 79th minute.

The decision was met with audible boos from the home end.

Frank proven right

The frustration of those Tottenham fans turned to jubilation inside five minutes.

Tel got on the ball inside the penalty area, produced a stunning turn, and fired the ball past Lammens.

That made it 1-1 with six minutes plus stoppage time remaining, but Spurs refused to settle for a draw.

Richarlison sends north London wild

Richarlison made it 2-1 in the first minute of stoppage time after glancing Wilson Odobert's shot from distance past Lammens.

The goal clearly meant the world to the Brazilian forward.

Having received his fair share of criticism in recent months, he was visibly emotional after scoring what he must have thought was the winner.

However, it was not.

Sesko injury leaves United with 10

Spurs just needed to hang on to secure all three points, and they were given a big boost when United’s Benjamin Sesko appeared to pick up an injury.

Ruben Amorim had already used all five of his substitutions, and as a result, his side were down to 10 players during the dying embers of the match.

However, who needs 10 players when you have Matthijs de Ligt?

De Ligt to the rescue

Despite having relinquished their lead and being down to 10 players, United somehow managed to snatch a point from the jaws of defeat.

The equaliser came from an unlikely source in the form of De Ligt.

The Dutch defender was part of the Ajax side who were beaten by Spurs in the semi-finals of the 2019 UEFA Champions League after a late Lucas Moura goal.

He finally got his revenge, denying Frank’s side all three points with an excellent header that brought the thrilling contest to a close.

Toney in shock link with Spurs

Ivan Toney could be set for a shock reunion with former Brentford boss Thomas Frank at Tottenham.

The 29-year-old left England for Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli in the summer of 2024 after a hugely successful time with The Bees where he scored 72 goals in 141 appearances.

Toney has not featured with England since his departure, but reports suggest he could make a return to the Premier League in a bid to boost his chances of going to next summer's World Cup.

"Ivan Toney could be handed a mid-season World Cup lifeline after Premier League interest in the striker emerges," The Sun writes.

"The former Brentford man continues to score goals in Saudi Arabia but is not currently in the mix for his country under Thomas Tuchel with just over six months to go until USA 2026 despite scoring 11 times in 15 matches this season.

"Toney, 29, may yet get the chance to prove himself back in England, though, after talkSPORT report that Thomas Frank is open to signing the striker again.

"With Spurs struggling for goals and Toney keen to push his case again, the two could scratch each other's backs.

"It is claimed that with Richarlison being a long-term target for Al-Ahli, who Toney has scored 41 times for in 18 months and just 59 matches, movement could follow."

West Ham serious about Mainoo

West Ham want to sign Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United on loan in January.

Mainoo has struggled to establish himself in Ruben Amorim’s midfield so far this season, leading to speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

According to a report in The Sun, West Ham are ready to offer the England international a "guaranteed starting spot".

The outlet writes: "West Ham have emerged as suitors for Manchester United starlet Kobbie Mainoo over a potential six-month loan move in January.

"Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that West Ham are reportedly ready to offer Mainoo a ‘guaranteed starting spot’ to coax the youngster away from Old Trafford until the end of the season.

"Romano said on his Here We Go Podcast: ‘Kobbie would still be open for a loan move in the January transfer window.

"'He would like to go and play on a straight loan, six months and then back to Man Utd.

"'Now it depends on the club. It depends on if Man Utd will find another player in the middle.

"'It depends on what Ruben Amorim wants to do, because the desire for him would be to keep the same squad in terms of players leaving in the January window.

"'West Ham for example for sure are offering a guaranteed starting spot to Mainoo."

"'Despite Mainoo’s reported interest in a move away, SunSport understands that the club have no intention of allowing him to leave in the January window.'"

Eichhorn also wanted by Arsenal

The Sun claims Manchester United and Arsenal are leading the chase for 16-year-old midfielder Kennet Eichhorn.

Friday's Paper Round suggested The Red Devils and Liverpool are interested in the Hertha Berlin star - but it appears Arsenal are also among the teams interested.

Eichhorn is an under-17 international with Germany and has featured in nine of his club's games so far this season.

The outlet notes: "Manchester United and Arsenal are leading the chase for a German schoolboy talent who is already being compared to World Cup and Champions League winner Toni Kroos.

"The Premier League giants are plotting moves for 16-year-old Hertha Berlin midfield sensation Kennet Eichhorn even though he can’t leave Germany until 2027.

"That has caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world with United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain having sent scouts to watch him live.

"Sport-Bild report that Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also keen."

With Tottenham Hotspur down to 10 men in the second half while 2-0 up against FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, there was perhaps a hint of angst in the north London air that Thomas Frank's side might let their lead slip. Up stepped Micky van de Ven to allay their fears in perhaps the most stunning way possible, as he embarked on a "sensational" solo run to notch Spurs' third.

Micky van de Ven left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a state of shock as he netted an "absolutely sensational" solo goal on Tuesday, with Thomas Frank comparing the defender to Lionel Messi.

Spurs had worked their way into a 2-0 lead against FC Copenhagen in their UEFA Champions League clash by the 51st minute, but Brennan Johnson's 55th-minute sending off threatened to derail Thomas Frank's side, with Copenhagen attempting to stretch the game and reduce their deficit.

Up stepped Van de Ven - the centre back who is Spurs' top goalscorer (5) this season, to establish a three-goal cushion in "unbelievable" fashion.

"That could be goal of the season, definitely," Frank said after being asked about the defender's wonderful strike.

"It was like Lionel Messi transformed into a centre-back, the way Micky ran through everyone. Fantastic goal."

The Dutchman collected the ball just on the edge of his own penalty area after Mohamed Elyounoussi was dispossessed by Joao Palhinha.

From here, the Spurs defender produced what will surely go down as an all-time classic Champions League moment - one that will "shake the world," according to former Spurs goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Within a few strides, Van de Ven had beaten five recovering Copenhagen men with his renowned blistering pace, bursting through the middle, seemingly with a force field around him.

His scintillating speed left Copenhagen's right centre-half, Gabriel Pereira, out of the question. It was now just a case of whether Pantelis Hatzidiakos could cover the ground before Van de Ven was in on goal. But before the defender could even get within a few yards of the Spurs man, he had unleashed a fierce left-footed strike in at the near post, which sent the home crowd into pandemonium.

It took just about nine seconds for Van de Ven to dispatch his strike after racing from the edge of his own penalty area - a goal so supreme it drew goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to sprint from his own goal to celebrate with the Spurs players - despite appearing to be nursing a slight hamstring issue.

"That is absolutely sensational from Micky van de Ven," Darren Fletcher said on TNT Sports commentary. "The pace, the power, the finish.

"Tottenham's leading scorer with a candidate for goal of the season. That was men against boys. He looked like the older lad in the playground running through the younger ones.

"It was such a physical mismatch. Look at this, just enjoy this. I'm going to make the claim now: you're going to have to have a hell of a goal for that not to be goal of the season, and it's only November."

'That will shake the world'

Joe Hart was equally stunned by the developments at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: "Wow, wow, wow. This is one of the best displays I've seen from a centre-half. Dominant.

"Saw his chance, charged through Copenhagen. They didn't even look like they wanted to challenge him. Petrified of his pace and power. He's on the edge of his box. How many around him? Four, five. Not standing a chance. Incredible finish at the end of that run."

He added: "That's one of those that will shake the world. Everyone will see that goal; admittedly, this might not be the game everyone was watching tonight. That goal from Micky van de Ven, you'll see that over and over again.

Joe Cole, meanwhile, said Van de Ven had just displayed an "old-school Buffalo Bills run," and does not feel a better goal will be scored this season.

"Wow," Cole remarked on TNT Sports' UEFA Champions League Goals Show Xtra. "That is comic book incredible.

"It is unbelievable. I think the boys nailed it. You've just seen the goal of the season. That whole place will be lit up watching that.

"He is an unbelievable footballer. Just when you think you've seen everything in footballers, you find a centre half who can dribble the length of the pitch, because he does it consistently."

Watching on as Vicario joined the celebrations, Cole added: "His hamstring is tight, and he felt the need to sprint 100 yards to celebrate, that's how good that goal was!"

Van de Ven's heroics put an emphatic end to speculation over disharmony at Spurs after he appeared to snub Frank when being withdrawn as a substitute in the Premier League defeat to Chelsea.

Spurs' 4-0 win means they have collected eight points from their first four matches in Europe - temporarily landing them seventh in the league phase standings.
