Tottenham to sign Dominic Solanke, with record-breaking deal to force major Spurs signing out - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham are roaring towards a major signing with the North London side in ‘advanced talks’ with Bournemouth for England striker Dominic Solanke.

Reports suggest that the former Liverpool man has already agreed personal terms with Spurs and a transfer fee is the last hurdle before a deal is struck.

As we exclusively revealed, Tottenham spent weeks weighing up whether to pursue a deal for Brentford’s Ivan Toney or Solanke but have now decided on the Cherries star.

Solanke, 26, is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until 2029 and has a hefty release clause of £65m in his deal.

Ange Postecoglou has made signing a new centre-forward a priority for what remains of the transfer window. Spurs never replaced Harry Kane after he joined Bayern Munich two years ago and now Solanke looks set to take on that responsibility.

The Mail claim that Tottenham have ‘stepped up’ their pursuit of Solanke this week and negotiations for the transfer are at an ‘advanced’ stage.

Bournemouth are ‘set to sell’ their talisman ‘reluctantly’ and the forward, who narrowly missed out on a place England’s Euro 2024 squad, is ready to take the next step in his career.

Tottenham ‘set to sign’ Dominic Solanke

Sources have informed TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Fraser (Fletcher) Gillan that Tottenham will trigger Solanke’s £65m release clause but how that payment is structured is unclear at this stage.

This will make the Bournemouth star their new all-time record signing. Liverpool could also receive up to £9m for the transfer due to a sell-on clause in Solanke’s contract.

TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham remain keen to sell Richarlison this summer to help fund the move for Solanke, although it’s not vital to the deal.

Richarlison joined Tottenham for £60m two years ago but has failed to live up to his price tag.

The former Everton man has been deemed surplus to requirements by Postecoglou and clubs from Saudi Arabia remain interested in him.

Solanke could prove to be a game-changing addition for Spurs as they aim to break back into the top four this season.

He scored an impressive 19 goals in the Premier League last season and could form a formidable front three with Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski or Brennan Johnson.

The report claims that Tottenham are ‘set to wrap up the deal’ for Solanke in the very near future and it will be interesting to see if he features in their opener against Leicester City.

He will be Postecoglou’s fourth summer signing after Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Min-hyeok Yang.

Spurs will hope to get off to a good start this term, as they did last season, and will face Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal and Brentford after the Foxes.

Tottenham transfers: Striker reveals his 'dreams are bigger', shrouding big-money move in doubt - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham striker Richarlison has revealed that he will not be making a move to Saudi Arabia for big money this summer, stating his “dreams are bigger”.

Spurs have not seen the best of Richarlison yet. In his first season from moving Everton, he massively underwhelmed, netting just once in the Premier League, having played 27 times.

Last season, his top-flight production increased to 11 goals, but given Tottenham were used to Harry Kane banging in around 30 goals a term, that doesn’t seem enough.

Ange Postecoglou has spent much of the summer transfer window looking to recruit a better option for the No.9 slot.

Ivan Toney and Dominic Solanke are currently the top names on the radar, with Spurs in direct talks with the latter, confirmed by TEAMtalk sources.

But the north London outfit know the best chance of financing a deal for the £65million man – owing to a release clause – is getting Richarlison off the books.

The Brazilian cost £60million two years ago, and would likely command a similar price, especially given the sides after him.

Indeed, interest has been reported from the Saudi Pro League throughout the summer transfer window, and they tend to pay big money to import talent from Europe.

Richarlison dreaming of more than than money

A move there would not only make Tottenham some decent money, but given the wages paid to players in the Middle East, Richarlison would also surely be given a lucrative contract.

But he has revealed that he does not want to move just for money.

“The money is big, but my dreams are bigger,” he says.

Given he has already stated he is happy at Tottenham this summer, the chances of him leaving seem slim.

And without the Brazilian leaving, the chances of Solanke joining seem difficult.

Throughout the window, the suggestion has been that Richarlison leaving will pave the way for a new striker signing.

And given Tottenham need to make up £65million – or £60million, which they believe will be enough – having already spent north of £40million, the lack of a sale could be a barrier to the Solanke deal.

Whether or not that is the case remains to be seen, but Tottenham will surely look to ship some players out if Richarlison cannot be moved.

Tottenham transfers: Postecoglou plans to dump 2023 signing for big profit with ‘offers’ sought

Description

Tottenham will reportedly listen to ‘future offers’ for winger Manor Solomon, who only signed last season and will bring a big profit.

Postecoglou spent last summer – his first window as Spurs boss – attempting to build a squad capable of bouncing back from a terrible season prior. Indeed, the north London outfit finished eighth in the Premier League, having endured a terrible time.

The new boss signed nine players in his first window, and turned the club’s fortunes around, with Tottenham finishing last season in fifth place.

The likes of James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven were particularly astute additions to the side.

Postecoglou would have been eager to see how winger Solomon got on in a Spurs shirt, too, having signed him after he impressed during 19 Premier League games for Fulham the season prior, scoring four goals.

But the Israel international, after starting strong for Tottenham with two assists in his first start, was quickly sidelined for the season, with a meniscus injury putting him out in his sixth appearance.

As such, it would seem he’ll have the chance to essentially start fresh and show what he can do this season now back in action.

But a report states the opposite may be the case.

Tottenham to listen to Solomon offers

Indeed, it’s been stated that Tottenham will ‘listen to future offers’ for Solomon.

It’s said they have set a price tag of around £17million for him.

Given they got him on a free transfer, having previously been owned by Shakhtar Donestk, Spurs would receive a big profit by selling Solomon for that price.

But it would seem a shock if Postecoglou was willing to immediately let him go.

The manager signed him last season, and was only able to see him perform over the course of just under 300 minutes.

That he assisted twice in those games suggests with more time on the pitch, now back fit, Solomon could be a very good asset for Tottenham.

Tottenham may have to sell

Though they have yet again signed Timo Werner on loan, after he came through the door on a short-term deal last season, so the left-wing spot is more crowded than before his addition.

And Tottenham are looking to sign a new striker, but know it’ll be tough to finance a deal for one – likely Dominic Solanke – if they can’t get Richarlison off the books.

But the Brazilian does not want to go, so Spurs may have to assess other options, and while it seems harsh, letting Solomon go could be one that makes sense for them.

Tottenham transfers: Real Madrid prepare opening bid for £150m-rated Spurs star who's ready to 'win a title' - TEAMtalk
Description

Ange Postecoglou views Cristian Romero as one of the most important players in his Tottenham squad but reports suggest that Real Madrid are weighing up a move for him.

The centre-back is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the Premier League on his day and it’s no surprise to see Carlo Ancelotti keen to take him to the Bernabeu.

Romero, 26, made 33 Premier League appearances for Spurs last season, scoring five goals and helping his team to keep seven clean sheets in the process.

He will be one of the first names on Tottenham’s team sheet again this term but according to reports from Spain, Real Madrid could try and ‘snatch’ him this summer.

It’s claimed that Los Blancos are preparing to submit an opening bid of €50m (£43.06m) for the Argentine international.

Romero is under contract with Tottenham until 2027 and is happy in North London, but may find it difficult to turn down Real Madrid if they agree a fee for him.

Tottenham demand £150m for Real Madrid target

Romero was a target for Real Madrid before their chase for Leny Yoro, who ultimately joined Manchester United. It appears that interest remains intact as the clock ticks down on the window closing on August 30.

As previously reported, however, Tottenham have zero intention of selling him unless Madrid are willing to spend a sensational fee on the defender.

Reliable reports suggest that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has informed the Spanish giants that it will take £150m (€175m) to sign Romero this summer.

This comes after the centre-back’s stock was enhanced following a solid Copa America campaign with Argentina.

They conceded just one goal in five matches with Romero on the pitch, highlighting his influence on the global stage.

Furthermore, Romero has indicated that he wants to spend at least one more season with Tottenham before considering a move elsewhere.

“I always strive to play at my best. I have a lot of respect for Tottenham. They’ve always given me a lot of support here, so I like playing here. I don’t think about other clubs or their possibilities,” Romero said in a recent interview.

“I know there’s a lot of talk about a possible move, but I’m calm. At my club I play differently to the national team, more forward. I still have years left in Europe and I want to see where I can go. Hopefully this year we can win a title at Tottenham.”

Tottenham transfers: Spurs receive take-it-or-leave-it counter offer, as deal's fate rests with Daniel Levy - TEAMtalk
Description

The fate of a partially agreed Tottenham transfer now appears to rest with Spurs supremo Daniel Levy who has been handed an ultimatum, according to a report.

The bulk of the transfer headlines around Tottenham at present relate to their ongoing pursuit of Dominic Solanke. Direct talks to sign the striker have commenced with Bournemouth and TEAMtalk understands Spurs are willing to bid £60m.

Solanke is protected by a £65m release clause, though that clause can only be activated by as yet unspecified clubs.

Whether Tottenham are eligible to activate the clause isn’t yet clear. However, that isn’t all that relevant for the time being given Spurs intend to lodge a bid below the £65m figure anyway.

Regarding the player, Solanke is understood to be keen on joining Tottenham. The latest on that move can be found here.

But while Solanke’s potential move is commanding the spotlight, another Spurs transfer could actually cross the line first.

Tottenham hope to sell right-back Emerson Royal to AC Milan and the Brazilian has long since agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri.

A five-year deal was ironed out over a month ago, with Emerson due to earn roughly £50,000-a-week if completing his move to the San Siro.

However, an agreement regarding the transfer fee has proven harder to come by, with Spurs initially hoping to generate €25m.

Milan made it clear they had no intention of matching that demand. Nonetheless, they did improve on their first offer after right-back Alessandro Florenzi suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season.

After originally not wishing to pay much more than €10m-€12m, Milan have upped their bid to around €15m plus €2m in add-ons.

Tottenham put on the spot for Emerson Royal sale

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed a fresh and potentially final round of talks would take place between the two clubs on Wednesday.

Whether those discussions have borne fruit is not yet clear. However, Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport state Milan are unwilling to raise their bid any further.

Milan are adamant they won’t bid any higher than the €15m plus €2m they’ve already tabled. As such, the report suggests their current bid is also their final bid and it’s now a case of take it or leave it for Tottenham.

Milan hope to install Emerson as their regular starter at right-back if signed. They also hope Emerson will be ready to play their season opener in Serie A against Torino on Saturday, August 17.

The report concluded Milan’s belief is Tottenham will ultimately accept the current offer (€15m plus €2m in add-ons) that has been made.

Tottenham urged to sign elite Man Utd striker target as Solanke would ‘work better at Arsenal’

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been told to avoid signing Dominic Solanke due to concerns over whether he is more suited to Arsenal, with Ange Postecoglou instead urged to move for Ivan Toney.

Tottenham have been linked with Bournemouth ace Solanke, Brentford star Toney and Jonathan David of Lille in recent weeks as they pursue a top striker who can properly replace Harry Kane. On Tuesday, it emerged that Tottenham were planning to open talks for both Solanke and Toney, but they have since landed on the former as their No 1 attacking target.

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Solanke has given a Tottenham switch the green light after discussions began between his agent and the North London club.

Tottenham will now enter formal negotiations with Bournemouth as they attempt to forge an agreement. The Englishman is understood to have a £65million release clause in his contract, which can only be matched by certain clubs, but Spurs feel they can capture him for the slightly reduced fee of £60m.

Solanke is understood to be keen on joining Spurs and taking the next step in his career, having earned such a move by netting 21 goals in 42 matches last season.

However, it remains to be seen whether Bournemouth will let him leave as he is a key part of their plans and also has a contract which runs until June 2027.

Plus, former Watford and Walsall striker Troy Deeney has suggested Solanke joins Arsenal and tipped Toney to head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in an alternative deal.

“I think Solanke works better at somewhere like Arsenal where he has to be on the end of something,” Deeney said during an appearance on talkSPORT.

Tottenham latest: Toney deal suggested

“If you’re going to spend £65million which is the reported fee, I would expect them [Tottenham] to go for Toney, if they can get him.

“Test the water with Brentford and leave the offer on the table for a week.”

The pundit continued: “Dominic is good. He’s someone who has learned the hard way in terms of being at Liverpool then coming away.

“But whenever I watch Dominic and I think he’s a good player, I still don’t see the killer in him. I know he’s scored a lot of goals but I don’t go, ‘it’s everything for him to score a goal’.”

Toney joining Spurs would leave Manchester United disappointed. The Red Devils have identified Toney as a primary attacking objective amid their hope of adding more experience to their forward line. The England ace is available for a reduced fee of £40m, too.

The potential arrival of either Solanke or Toney at Spurs, meanwhile, will likely signal the end of Richarlison’s time at the club. Spurs are understood to be keen on selling the Brazilian to raise transfer funds and make room in the team for a new, more prolific No 9.

Spurs would ideally like to sell Richarlison to the Saudi Pro League, as those such clubs are the only ones who might pay £50-60m for him.

Tottenham transfers: Spurs in 'direct talks' with Premier League striker as Richarlison threatens deal

Description

Tottenham have made signing a new centre-forward their top priority for what remains of the transfer window and they have decided on their top target.

As we reported on Tuesday, Spurs have been weighing up whether to focus on a deal for Brentford’s Ivan Toney or Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

Tottenham have decided to pursue Solanke and TEAMtalk understands that they’d be willing to pay £60m to sign him, which falls short of his £65m release clause.

Sources have informed our transfer correspondent Fraser (Fletcher) Gillan that the North London club are now in ‘direct talks’ with the England star’s representatives and Bournemouth over a transfer.

We understand that there is ‘real confidence’ behind the scenes at Spurs that they will sign Solanke this summer and he could prove to be a game-changing addition.

Tottenham have been crying out for a prolific striker since Harry Kane left to join Bayern Munich two years ago.

They missed out on Champions League qualification last season and that may have not been the case if Kane was still at the club.

Richarlison sale could fund Tottenham transfer

Solanke scored a very impressive 19 goals in the Premier League last season, proving he has what it takes to play for one of the Premier League’s top sides.

Bournemouth are understandably reluctant to lose the forward and the official line coming out of the club is that they won’t accept anything less than his £65m release clause.

Sources have informed TEAMtalk that Tottenham are confident that £60m will be enough, however.

We understand that Tottenham could fund the move for Solanke by selling Richarlison, who continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The Brazilian – who struggled for large chunks of last season with persistent injury – is believed to be close to moving on amid interest from a number of Saudi sides. Tottenham hope to recoup a sizeable fee from his sale.

However, journalist Paul O’Keefe has suggested that Richarlison is firmly against the idea of joining a Saudi Pro League team this summer, but a huge contract offer could turn his head.

It’s suggested that the player’s priority is to keep his spot in the Brazil squad and he fears that could be jeopardised if he leaves European football.

Tottenham’s interest in Solanke will remain regardless of whether Richarlison is sold, but it could affect how much they can spend on the Bournemouth man.

This is a story for Spurs fans to keep a close eye on as things are expected to progress quickly.

Tottenham transfers: Top Postecoglou target gives green light to stunning £60m move as talks ramp up

Description

Dominic Solanke has given the green light to his proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur from Bournemouth, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal.

Solanke has emerged as a top target for Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou this summer, having registered 21 goals and four assists for Bournemouth last season.

TEAMtalk reported last week that Solanke is keen on a move to Tottenham, with the striker’s representatives in contact with the North London club.

Although Solanke’s Bournemouth contract is understood to contain a £65million release clause, Tottenham are confident that a bid of £60m could be enough to convince the Cherries to sell.

In a fresh update, TEAMtalk can reveal that Solanke has given the green light to a move to Tottenham via his agents, with talks underway with the aim of striking a deal with Bournemouth.

Tottenham, who have already added midfielders Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall from Leeds United and Djurgarden respectively so far this summer, are on the hunt for a new number nine following the sale of record goalscorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer.

Although new captain Son Heung-Min stepped up in Kane’s absence last season to score 17 Premier League goals, Richarlison and Brennan Johnson could only contribute with 11 and five goals respectively, with Spurs badly in need of a new frontman to share the burden with Son.

While Brentford and England forward Ivan Toney and Lille star Jonathan David have both been linked with Tottenham, Postecoglou has identified Solanke as his primary target to lead the line.

Tottenham looking for extra firepower ahead of 24/25

A move to Tottenham would see Solanke secure a third chance with a leading Premier League club following previous spells with Chelsea and Liverpool.

Solanke emerged from Chelsea’s youth system but only made a single first-team appearance for the Blues, as a substitute in a Champions League group match against Maribor in 2014, before being brought to Liverpool by Jurgen Klopp in 2017.

The English forward again struggled to make an impression at Liverpool, scoring once in 27 games on Merseyside before making the switch to Bournemouth in January 2019.

Solanke has blossomed into a top Premier League forward over the course of five full seasons with Bournemouth and enjoyed his most potent season so far under Andoni Iraola in 2023/24.

The 26-year-old has registered a total of 77 goals and 31 assists in 216 appearances for Bournemouth.

Man City eye classy Tottenham target as Julian Alvarez replacement as TWO key reasons behind Etihad exit emerge

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Man City have identified Wolves forward and Tottenham Hotspur target Pedro Neto as a potential replacement for Julian Alvarez, it has been claimed.

It comes as fresh details behind Alvarez‘s decision to leave the reigning Premier League champions have come to light, with two key factors behind the Argentine’s impending departure.

Alvarez is poised to complete a move to Atletico Madrid after the LaLiga giants agreed a €95million (£82m) fee with Man City – a significant profit on the £14million the Citizens paid River Plate to bring the forward to England in January 2022.

The 24-year-old, who has agreed personal terms with Atletico, will leave Man City having registered 36 goals and 18 assists in 103 appearances, winning two Premier League titles as well as the FA Cup, the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

With Brazilian winger Savinho still City’s only new signing during the summer window to date, Alvarez’s exit is likely to force Pep Guardiola to add more attacking reinforcements to his squad.

And a report by the Telegraph has claimed that Portuguese international Neto “is one of the players to have interested City” as the club scout the market.

The news of City’s interest in Neto is likely to come as a blow to Tottenham and Arsenal after TEAMtalk exclusively revealed last month that the North London rivals are both keen on the Wolves forward.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Neto’s situation last weekend, with Tottenham expected to “accelerate” their attempts to sign the 24-year-old, who has registered 14 goals and 24 assists for Wolves since arriving from Braga in 2019.

Gary O’Neil, the Wolves manager, recently admitted that “no one is going to stand in Pedro’s way if a massive bid comes from a top club.”

It is believed that a bid in the region of £60m would tempt Wolves to sell the player, with the competition to secure Neto’s signature likely to intensify ahead of the transfer deadline on August 30.

Revealed: Julian Alvarez reasons behind Man City exit

Meanwhile, Football Insider has claimed that a hunger for more first-team football, as well as desire to play in a warmer climate, contributed to Alvarez’s push to leave Man City.

It is said that Alvarez had grown frustrated with Guardiola’s tendency to leave him out of the team for big matches and was set on a move to Europe, with the 2022 World Cup winner having no interest in joining another Premier League club.

Although it is believed that Guardiola had been hopeful of keeping Alvarez, the manager’s policy of allowing unhappy players to leave meant a Man City exit was inevitable as soon as the player signalled his intention to leave.

Tottenham transfers: Striker move AGREED, as Fabrizio Romano confirms second deal to be finalised today

Description

Tottenham have agreed a striker transfer that paves the way for a much bigger deal to follow, while transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed another Spurs move is due to be finalised today.

It’s no secret Tottenham are hunting a blockbuster new addition at No 9. Indeed, manager Ange Postecoglou recently confirmed a new frontman is wanted when speaking to Football London.

“It’s still the area of the park we’re really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us.” said the Spurs boss.

Son Heung-min and Richarlison were the favoured options for the central striker role last season. Richarlison blew hot and cold, while Son’s preferred position remains cutting inside from the left wing.

As Postecoglou stated, options are thin on the ground at present and the club’s latest agreed deal suggests a readymade striker must and will be signed.

Both Fabrizio Romano and reliable reports in Spain have confirmed back-up striker, Alejo Veliz, will join Espanyol on loan.

The 20-year-old Argentine has already landed in Barcelona (the city where Espanyol are located), and the deal has already been ‘closed.’

The agreement is for a season-long loan and an option to buy has NOT been included. As such, Veliz will return to north London next June.

Veliz exit paves way for huge striker arrival

Veliz will spend the 2024/25 season loaned to Espanyol and the fact Tottenham are letting a back-up striker leave is another clear indication they will sign a new frontman.

Dominic Solanke, Ivan Toney and Jonathan David have all been linked of late. TEAMtalk understands Spurs are ready to stamp on the accelerator for Solanke.

Tottenham do not intend to trigger Solanke’s £65m release clause. Instead, we’ve been told a bid of £50m that would include a player as a makeweight has been internally discussed.

Solanke is believed to be keen on the move and talks between Tottenham and his camp have already taken place.

Another Tottenham exit on the cusp of completion

Elsewhere, another exit to follow Veliz’s switch to Espanyol should be wrapped up today.

Emerson Royal agreed personal terms with AC Milan one month ago and talks between the clubs regarding the transfer fee and payment structure will take place today (Wednesday).

An agreement on a fee in the region of €15m prior to add-ons is expected to be ironed out.

Providing a fresh update on Emerson following news of Veliz’s move, Romano stated on X: “Tottenham are signing all documents for Alejo Veliz to join Espanyol on loan.

“NO buy option clause included. Back at Spurs in June.

“Next up: direct contact with AC Milan to seal Emerson Royal deal for €15m fee plus add-ons, almost there.”
