Exclusive: Tottenham hopes of agreeing Milan transfer fade as price row leads to fresh interest in Girona star

There have been no further contacts between Tottenham and AC Milan after the Serie A side’s €15million offer for Emerson Royal rejected a few weeks ago, TEAMtalk can reveal.

Compared to some reports that have emerged in recent days, there have been no concrete approaches between the clubs towards a possible agreement.

It has been said that Milan, having exited the race for Aston Villa’s Matty Cash, were to go back in for Emerson.

TEAMtalk can reveal that AC Milan do indeed remain interested in the Brazilian right-back and it cannot be excluded that, in the coming weeks, they could return to talk with Tottenham.

The Rossoneri have budgeted a maximum figure of €20million – they still have a margin of €5million – but, to date, have not currently materialised this possibility of improving the proposed offer.

Likewise, Tottenham – as we had already reported – are adamant on the price, asking for €25million. They are willing to let him go, but only at this price, no change in their position.

Despite, therefore, an agreement in principle on personal terms with AC Milan for a five-year contract, with a salary of around €3million per season, there have been no recent approaches for Emerson between the clubs, that remain distant on the overall amount of the possible operation.

Milan find cheaper alternative target

AC Milan are also following other possible alternatives, including Arnau Martinez of Girona, TEAMtalk can reveal.

The right-back, who played 26 games in all competitions last season for the La Liga side, has a €20million release clause.

That is, of course, not too dissimilar to what Emerson will cost.

However, TEAMtalk sources state that in light of Martinez’s contract expiring with Girona in 2025, they will evaluate offers slightly lower.

As such, Milan see him as being a player within their price range for a new right-back.

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of signing Federico Chiesa as Juventus ramp up their attempts to sell the forward, according to reports.

Chiesa managed 10 goals and three assists in 37 appearances for Juventus last term, as the Italian giants won the Coppa Italia and got back into the Champions League by finishing third in Serie A. The versatile attacker, who can play as a second striker or as a winger on either flank, has been at Juve since October 2020 but is nearing the end of his time in Turin.

Chiesa’s contract is due to expire in June 2025 and this has seen him emerge as a transfer target for several clubs around Europe.

Several Premier League sides have been tipped to make moves for the Italy ace, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United. But Tottenham recently overtook their English rivals and moved into pole position in the race for Chiesa’s services.

DON’T MISS: Brilliant new Tottenham signing described in two words as Son-like attacker prepares to pen deal

Indeed, on Monday it was claimed that Chiesa has ‘said yes’ to a prospective move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Chiesa is among several players Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is eyeing, including Dominic Solanke, Conor Gallagher, Ebere Eze and Patrick Dorgu.

According to the latest reports in Italy, Spurs are ‘close’ to landing Chiesa in a deal worth €30-35million (£25-29.5m).

The 26-year-old is poised to ‘say goodbye’ to both Juve and Italy as a whole, as he has supposedly rejected clubs such as Napoli and Roma in order to join Postecoglou’s project at Spurs.

Tottenham transfers: Federico Chiesa signing ‘close’

Earlier on Thursday, new Juve boss Thiago Motta was asked about the player’s future. He responded: “For now he’s [a] Juventus player, then we will see…”

Fabrizio Romano has also provided his information on Chiesa’s situation. While he does not back up those claims about Spurs being on the cusp of the signing, he does report that both Juve chiefs and Motta have ‘approved’ Chiesa’s sale.

Plus, Romano has revealed that Gangwon FC ace Yang Min-hyuk could beat Chiesa to becoming Spurs’ fourth summer arrival, as the transfer has been given the ‘here we go’ seal of approval.

Juve, meanwhile, are eager to offload Chiesa so they can bring in transfer funds to sign some of their top targets. Juve have already brought in Douglas Luiz, Khephren Thuram, Juan Cabal and Michele Di Gregorio so far this summer.

Spurs are clearly making progress in their bid to sign Chiesa, though we must wait for other outlets to report on the club’s talks with Juve before concluding that the Euros winner will definitely be arriving in North London.

Should Chiesa officially join Spurs, then he will compete with the likes of James Maddison, Son Heung-min, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski for a spot in Postecoglou’s starting eleven.

So far this summer, Spurs have extended Timo Werner’s loan, raided Leeds United for rising English star Archie Gray and confirmed the arrival of Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall, with the latter deal having been initially agreed in February.

A South Korean football expert has revealed exactly what Tottenham will be getting as they close in on a deal to sign exlosive teenage winger Yang Min-hyuk.

The north London club are closing in on what would be their fourth addition of the summer, with Yang set to join Timo Werner, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in making the move.

The Gangwon FC winger is expected to make the move from K League 1 to the Premier League as Tottenham continue their drive to bring in top young talent from around the world.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that the club were closing in on a deal for the 18-year-old on Wednesday evening and now South Korean analyst Joel Kim has told fans what to expect from the talented attacker.

DON’T MISS: Tantalising Tottenham XI to lead Postecoglou to promised land and end 16-year trophy wait

Speaking to TBR Football, Kim was glowing in his praise for Yang, saying: “If Yang Min-hyuk can be described in two words, it’s power and pace. Add adaptability, and he becomes a versatile asset for Tottenham’s attacking football.

“At just 18, Yang brings incredible speed to the attack, running with youthful vigour. His surprising physical strength allows him to dominate veteran defenders in the K-League 1, Asia’s most physical league.

“His greatest asset might be his adaptability; like Son Heung-min, Yang is two-footed and can play on either the left or right wing. Comparisons to Anthony Gordon and Federico Chiesa highlight his potential.

“Yang loves to charge forward with the ball, whether along the flanks or through the middle, overwhelming defenders with his pace. Defensively, he’s underrated, often intercepting passes and reading plays before they unfold.”

Kim did add a few caveats though in terms of things that the youngster still needs to work on, adding: “His weaknesses include occasional clumsiness and dispossession, common among downhill running wingers.

“Recently, he has struggled to find space when tightly marked by several defenders, preventing him from even touching the ball. He needs to step up in those moments and make his presence felt.”

In terms of where Yang fits in at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, Kim added: “Yang’s playing style suits Tottenham’s attacking football well. He could bring significant width to the attack, charging down either side to take on defenders 1v1 or deliver crosses into the box.

“His high-intensity energy and versatility, including the potential to play as a number 9, distinguish him among Tottenham’s already rich bevvy of wingers.”

Whether or not Yang gets the opportunity to show his talents to Tottenham straight away remains to be seen, as there is a strong chance the player is loaned out for the upcoming campaign to gain more first-team experience.

However, it appears that Spurs are on the brink of another exciting addition to what is already a more youthful-looking squad with some tremendous young talent.

Postecoglou’s men start the new campaign on Monday August 19 when they head to promoted Leicester City for their Premier League opener.

Tottenham transfers: Romano confirms fourth Spurs signing is ON as medical booked in for exciting attacker

Tottenham are reportedly closing in on their fourth signing of the summer, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirming that an agreement is close for a talented winger.

Spurs have so far brought in Timo Werner for another loan and splashed out close to £40million in total on Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, who officially joined the club this summer after sealing his switch back in January.

However, Ange Postecoglou remains on the hunt for more new recruits, despite pre-season already showcasing some of the dynamic young talent already at his disposal.

The Australian is keen to get another central midfielder and new No.9 on board but is not averse to adding in other areas if the right player comes along.

DON’T MISS – Tantalising Tottenham XI to lead Postecoglou to promised land and end 16-year trophy wait

And that appears to be the case with the latest expected addition, with Tottenham closing in on highly-rated South Korean winger Min-hyuk Yang.

Romano reports that an agreement is being completed and that medical tests will follow for the 18-year-old talent.

He said: “Tottenham are closing in on deal to sign 2006 born winger Min-hyuk Yang from Gangwon FC. Agreement being completed and then medical tests to follow.”

Yang has been described as a ‘powerful’ winger and a ‘diamond’ talent who burst onto the scene for Gangwon FC last season.

He had 10 goal contributions in the K League 1 last season at the age of 18 and it’s considered to be no great surprise that a club of Tottenham’s stature is moving for the talented starlet, especially given Son Heung-min’s legendary status both in his homeland and in north London.

Yang played in 24 of the 26 available league games during the 2023/24 season, which was more than any other player for the South Korean club. However, he now looks set for a switch to the English Premier League.

Due to his lack of experience, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Spurs look to loan him out when the deal is officially announced.

Moving to the Premier League is a huge step up for a player coming straight from South Korea and a temporary switch is likely to be the best thing for his development.

But in terms of Tottenham’s transfer strategy, Yang will give them another top young talent for the future.

Tottenham midfield swap deal still being mooted

Meanwhile, Romano has also stated that Tottenham and Aston Villa remain in discussions over a potential swap deal involving midfielders Giovani Lo Celso and Jabon Ramsey.

At this stage nothing is advanced, although it’s thought that Villa are open to a sale after slashing out £50m to bring in Amadou Onana from Everton.

Spurs will reportedly offer Lo Celso and £20m to get the deal done, with Villa boss Unai Emery familiar with the Argentine due to their time together at PSG and Villarreal.

Lo Celso is surplus to requirements in north London after failing to carry over his international form onto the club stage with Tottenham in the four years he has been at the club.

Ramsey, meanwhile, is considered a perfect fit for Postcoglou’s playing style in north London and would likely operate as a No.8 in Spurs’ midfield engine room.

Tottenham give Postecoglou transfer war chest as triple swoop eyed; Spurs warned off ex-Man Utd striker - TEAMtalk
Description

Ange Postecoglou will attempt a daring triple move for Tottenham Hotspur after reportedly being given a major transfer kitty, while the North London side have been told to avoid an ex-Manchester United forward.

So far this summer, Tottenham have allowed several big names to leave on free transfers, including Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic and Tanguy Ndombele, while also offloading Joe Rodon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. In turn, Tottenham have extended Timo Werner’s loan spell and raided Leeds United for rising star Archie Gray. Plus, Lucas Bergvall’s move to the club has become official after it was initially agreed on February 1.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham fans could be in for a whirlwind end to the transfer window as club chiefs are drawing up funds to give Postecoglou a ‘huge’ budget.

It is unclear exactly how much the manager will be able to spend, but Spurs are aiming to improve three positions in particular.

DON’T MISS: Seven sensational Tottenham teenagers who could end up saving Levy millions in the market

They have set their sights on Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu as they try to find competition and cover for Destiny Udogie. On Monday, it emerged that Spurs will have to pay €30million (£25m) for the Serie A starlet.

Spurs are also on the hunt for a new attacker who can operate as either a left winger or in the No 10 role. After being overtaken by Manchester City in the race for Crystal Palace’s Ebere Eze, Spurs seem to have turned their attention to Juve star Federico Chiesa, who is up for sale.

Chiesa has already ‘said yes’ to joining Spurs and will cost £25m to sign, just like Dorgu.

Spurs are keen to find a top replacement for Hojbjerg and Postecoglou has landed on Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher as his No 1 target.

Tottenham transfers: Big funds to aid Dorgu, Gallagher deals

But Spurs still have not got close to signing the Englishman and this has allowed Atletico Madrid to not only join the race but provide them with serious competition.

It is now up to Spurs to brush Atleti aside and convince Gallagher that he should remain in the Premier League by moving to North London.

Once Spurs potentially sign Dorgu, Eze or Chiesa, and Gallagher, then they could initiate talks for a new centre-forward, with Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke one rumoured option.

Earlier this month, Spurs were backed to improve their striker ranks by moving for Man Utd flop Memphis Depay, who is now a free agent after his exit from Atletico Madrid.

But former Spurs full-back Alan Hutton has urged Postecoglou to steer clear.

“I feel strange about it [the Depay links]. He’s always been a good player, even when he was at Manchester United. He came with so much hype and I was really looking forward to seeing him but it was a bit of a let down,” the pundit said.

“I could be totally wrong here, I don’t know if it’s all the off-field stuff that goes on with him, does that affect him?

“Even when he’s with the Dutch squad and you think, ‘right, he’s really gonna do it’, and he does some good things but I think he flatters to deceive a little bit.

“I’m not so sure, I don’t think the Premier League suits him, I don’t think he’s got that pace to go and burst away from people.

“Yes, he’s got that moment of brilliance, we’ve seen it, there’s no doubt that he’s a technically gifted player but week in and week out, doing it regularly at such a high level, I’m not so sure.

“We’ve seen that with all the moves he’s had, yes big clubs but he’s always moved on and again it’s one I’m just not sure about.”

Seven sensational Tottenham teenagers who could end up saving Levy millions in the market - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham are currently looking to accumulate some of the best young talent from across Europe but already have some real gems on board that are likely to save the club millions in the transfer market going forward.

Ange Postecoglou is a big believer in giving young talent a chance to shine and he’ll certainly have plenty of strong options to pick from if the current Spurs squad is anything to go by.

The north London club added Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall to their young talent pool this summer, but several other starlets are already showing out in pre-season as the club prepare for their tour of Japan and South Korea.

Tottenham will play reigning J1 League champions Vissel Kobe at the Japan National Stadium on July 27 before competing in the Coupang Play Series 2024 where they will take on Team K League (July 31) and Bayern Munich (Aug 3).

A large squad has been named for the trip that includes many top young talents due to the absences of the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur and Giovani Lo Celso after their involvements at the Copa America and Euro 2024.

And TT has picked out seven teenagers who could make a real impact in north London in the future, with honourable mentions to those that just missed out on the list in Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington and George Abbott…

Luca Gunter

The future of the goalkeeping position in north London looks to be in pretty safe hands with Enfield-born Luca Gunter, who has been at the club since he joined from QPR at the age of just 12.

The young stopper, now 19, pulled off some impressive saves after coming on as a half-time substitute in the pre-season win at QPR last weekend and is in the squad for the pre-season tour to Asia.

Gunter captained Tottenham’s Under-18s to Premier League Cup glory last season and with Guglielmo Vicario still only 27, the future of the club’s goalkeeping position looks set for years to come.

DIVE DEEPER: Tantalising Tottenham XI to lead Postecoglou to promised land and end 16-year trophy wait

Tyrese Hall

The 18-year-old talent has made a real impression at youth level over the last couple of seasons and has been described as the ‘future of Tottenham’s midfield’.

Hall can play as a No.6 or in the No.8 role and was called up to the first-team squad towards the end of last season after penning a new contract until 2029 just a couple of months ago.

The midfielder is another player to keep an eye on during the club’s Asia tour, having impressed as a substitute in the friendly win at Loftus Road over the weekend.

Alfie Devine

The supremely talented midfielder was signed by Spurs from Wigan in 2020 for £300,000 after the Latics went into administration.

Loan stints at Port Vale and Plymouth have certainly aided Devine’s development and has already made a big impression on Ange Postecoglou in pre-season.

Devine, who just falls into the teenage category at the time of writing as he turns 20 on August 1, started his career as a holding midfielder but has been developed into more of a creative force in north London.

Indeed, former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho described him as a player who “has an instinct to appear in finishing zones and to score goals”.

Unless he is loaned out again, expect Devine to be in or around the first-team squad all season – especially with Tottenham back in European competition.

Archie Gray

Yes, Tottenham have already forked out £30m to bring the former Leeds man to north London, but if the midfielder fulfills his full potential then he will likely end up doubling his value at the very least.

Gray’s ability to play in midfield or fill in at right-back will be hugely beneficial to Postecoglou and will put pressure on Yves Bissouma for a starting role as the defensive pivot in front of the back four.

The 18-year-old has even been used as a central defender in the opening two official pre-season games of the season, once again highlighting his adaptability and game smarts.

If Gray is handed a starting role early in the campaign then it would not be a massive surprise to also see him push for senior England recognition at some point in the season.

The defensive midfield position was a problem for the Three Lions at Euro 2024, with Declan Rice asked to play deeper when he featured as a No.8 for Arsenal for much of last season. To that end, Gray could end up being a natural fit for the role, even if it might be a bit too soon.

One thing is for sure though, Tottenham look like they have a real diamond in their midst.

DON’T MISS: Transfer Tracker: FIVE strikers set for big moves as Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham all do business

Lucas Bergvall

Another player who arrived in the summer after a deal was signed off last January when Spurs beat out Barcelona for his signature.

Swedish teenager Bergvall has already been capped at senior level and is widely regarded as one of the hottest talents the country has ever produced.

The transfer fee of just £8.5million could prove to be an absolute steal for a player who made his Tottenham debut at Hearts recently and grabbed his first assist for the club in a 5-1 win.

He is on the tour of Asia despite picking up an unspecified injury in the 2-0 win at QPR on Saturday and should get a further chance to showcase his talents.

Mikey Moore

Plenty has already been written about the 16-year-old attacking sensation despite his tender years.

On May 14, Moore made his first team debut in a 2–0 home defeat against Manchester City, becoming the youngest Tottenham player to play in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 277 days, surpassing Dane Scarlett’s record.

The winger was also included in the England squad for the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship earlier this summer, scoring a brace in the opening game of the tournament and also netting in the group fixtures against Portugal and Spain.

Moore was also on target in the pre-season win at Hearts and is another of the club’s top young talents who is with the current squad in Asia.

The main concern for Tottenham, however, is that the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United have been showing signs of interest in Moore.

The attacker has already signed a pro contract with the club until June 2026 and that will be officially announced when he turns 17 in early August.

READ NEXT: Tottenham eye bargain signing of LaLiga winner after rival move stalls; Chelsea, Aston Villa also in mix

Will Lankshear

Already dubbed the ‘next Harry Kane’, that will either be a help or a hinderance to the hugely talented 19-year-old, depending on his temperament.

Lankshear was at the Arsenal Academy before heading to Sheffield United and then back to north London in the summer of 2022.

Spurs paid the Blades £2m to snap up the forward after learning of interest from Brentford and he is currently under contract until 2025.

That contract status will almost certainly change though as Lankshear is already making a big impact in pre-season and is said to have been the most impressive of the younger talent currently training with the first-team squad this summer.

Lankshear, who has a sturdy 6ft 1in frame, scored 23 goals for Tottenham’s Under-21 team in the 2023/24 Premier League 2 season, including a brace in the 3–1 play-off final victory against Sunderland. His performances also saw him named as the league’s Player of the Season.

Expect the young forward to be in or around the first-team mix at the start of the new campaign, especially if Tottenham do not move for a new No.9 and opt to rotate skipper Son Heung-min and Richarlison in that position again.
