Tottenham transfers: Spurs to bolster midfield with 25

Description

Tottenham are reportedly ready to spend a significant amount of their summer transfer budget on improving their midfield, with the latest reports from Italy suggesting they are ready to circle back for a player they wanted to sign in the last two windows.

Ange Postecoglou’s midfield has been the area of the team hit the least hard by injury issues this term, but it could be argued it’s been the most inconsistent in terms of performance levels – no matter who the Spurs boss has deployed in there.

Rodrigo Bentancur has been the mainstay over the last month or so, with talented teenager Lucas Bergvall edging out the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr for a role alongside the Uruguayan.

Given there is every chance that Bissouma could be offloaded this summer, a move to strengthen that area of the team comes as no great surprise. Indeed, Postecoglou – assuming he remains in charge at Tottenham – could even look to add two new midfield additions.

A report from Spain on Monday suggested a swoop for Atletico Madrid star Pablo Barrios could be on the cards, although the Spain international could cost as much as €75million (£62m / $78m).

However, a cheaper alternative has emerged in the shape of Inter Mian star Davide Frattesi, with InterLive suggesting that the Italy international remains a player they continue to have serious interest in.

The north London outfit were keen on landing the 25-year-old last summer, only to be rebuffed, while those links continued throughout the January window but also failed to materialise.

However, Inter’s form stance could change this summer, with the report suggesting that the Italian club’s president Giuseppe Marotta is now said to be considering a sale.

The player himself, meanwhile, is also thought to leaning towards an exit – giving Tottenham hope that a deal can be struck for the Inter star, who has played 25 times for Italy.

Tottenham set their price for Frattesi

It’s claimed that Tottenham are willing to offer £24.8million (€30m / $31.4m) to wrap up a deal for Frattesi, although it’s unclear how much Inter are likely to demand for a player who is valued at £26.5million (€32m / $33.5m) on Transfermarkt and remains under contract until 2028.

Spurs are not the only club showing an interest in the box-to-box midfielder though, with InterLive also suggesting that Juventus are keen on raiding their Serie A rivals for the player.

Frattesi has only been with Inter since last summer, though he did spend last season on loan at San Siro before making a permanent switch from Sassuolo.

He has scored four goals and added two assists in 30 appearances in all competitions, with the majority of his outings coming as a No.8 – although he has also the ability to play further forward in a more creative role.

Frattesi has also won 25 senior caps for Italy, scoring eight times, having made his debut back in 2022.

Frattesi style of play

Frattesi is now in his second season with Inter and fourth as a Serie A player after his previous spell with Sassuolo, and reached a quarter of a century of caps for Italy in November.

At the age of 25, the Rome-born midfielder – who had spells in the academies of both capital clubs growing up – has worked his way up to become a useful squad member for the reigning Italian champions.

A box-to-box midfielder by nature, Frattesi brings energy to the middle of the park and can be the trigger for intensity in his team. He thrives on getting into spaces between the lines and is a capable ball carrier.

Right-footed, he is more of a short passer than someone who will look to spread the play, but his direct nature allows him to cause danger. He currently averages a goal contribution roughly every third game, which is encouraging considering he isn’t always a starter.

Tactically, he usually fits in as a right-sided central midfielder in a midfield three, but playing in a box-to-box role in a midfield partnership is not beyond him.

Strong on the break thanks to his mix of stamina and technical quality, his movement is intelligent as he roams into pockets of space where opponents can find it challenging to track him. Equally, he can break up play in the opposite phase.

There are areas of his game to improve, and sometimes it can feel like more established players are dictating the pace of a game more than him, but Frattesi is fairly unique among the current cohort of Italian midfielders and that makes him an attractive proposition.

Tottenham transfers: Spurs tipped to strike bargain centre

Description

Tottenham are reportedly interested in wrapping up a bargain deal for a Juventus centre-back this summer, despite ongoing reports regarding the future of vice-captain Cristian Romero in north London.

Spurs have been short on central defensive options since starting duo Romero and Micky van de Ven were both sidelined in early December, with Radu Draguson and Archie Gray stepping up due to the absence of Ben Davies during that time as well.

Dragusin is now expected to be out until the end of 2025 after suffering an ACL injury, a move that forced Tottenham into the winter window market as they snapped up Kevin Danso on loan from French club Lens with an obligation to buy.

The Austria international has made a solid start to life in north London and there is every chance he will remain, but that will not stop the club looking to reinforce that area given that defensive issues have cropped up for the last two seasons now.

And, according to reports from Italy, Spurs are ready to raid Juve for a player who has featured 35 in all competitions this season – including eight starts in the Champions League.

Federico Gatti is the player in question, with TV Play claiming that Tottenham could snap the player up for as little as £16.5m (€20m / $21m) this summer.

The 26-year-old remains under contract until the summer of 2028, but the report states that the Turin outfit may let Gatti go as they prioritise news signings this summer, including the likes of Feyenoord’s David Hancko – a player Spurs have also been linked with.

TV Play adds that the recent Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven has heightened tensions at Juventus, potentially triggering a significant squad overhaul this summer.

However, Tottenham are not the only club showing an interest in Italy international Gatti, with London rivals West Ham also looking to secure his signature.

Nottingham Forest also failed with a January swoop for Gatti and could be in the mix again this summer, although it’s reported that the player himself would prefer to remain in Turin.

Money talks, however, and it appears that if Juventus receive the right offer they are willing to let the player leave to fund the addition of summer targets.

Romero contract extension talks hot up

As Tottenham continue to be linked with the likes of Gatti to bolster their backline, TBR Football remains convinced that Romero is in line to become the club’s highest-earning player.

They state that the club’s management team have been actively working on extending the contract of the Argentina World Cup winner, with the two sides getting closer to finalizing an agreement.

It’s reported that the Spurs hierarchy sees the 26-year-old as their most valuable asset, despite his struggles with his form earlier in the season and the fact that he has been on the sidelines since early December with a thigh injury.

Indeed, Romero has featured just 14 times in all competitions for Postecoglou’s men this season, and there is a feeling among some Tottenham supporters that they would be willing to let the player move on – if long-term suitors Real Madrid make a concrete approach.

Tottenham transfers: Spurs willing to 'break the bank' to sign sublime LaLiga midfield talent

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to ‘break the bank’ to bring in a highly-rated Atletico Madrid midfielder in a deal that could be worth up to €75million (£62m / $78m) in the summer transfer window.

The north London club are expected to be active in the market come the end of the season as they sit on the right side of PSR and have money in the bank to make some significant additions to Ange Postecoglou’s squad – assuming the Australian keeps his job after a recent upturn in results.

It’s been a tough season for Tottenham, as their squad depth has been woefully exposed due to a crippling injury crisis, with the Europa League now their only chance of salvaging something.

Three successive Premier League wins, to go along with several stars returning from the sidelines, has at least lifted morale as the focus starts to switch towards who could come in this summer.

All areas of the team are expected to be looked at but Spurs’ midfield has underperformed for much of the season, with Postecoglou often struggling to find the right balance in his engine room.

Yves Bissouma has particularly struggled to replicate anything like the form he showed at Brighton and it would be no surprise to see the Mali international offloaded this summer.

Rodrigo Bentancur’s performance levels have at least lifted of late, while Pape Sarr and Lucas Bergvall are quality young talents who should be around at the club for years to come. Archie Gray might also finally get the chance to show what he can do in his favoured position, once the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are fit again.

But despite having those numbers, Tottenham still want at least one new midfielder through the door this summer and a report from Spain suggests they are willing to spend big on Atletico star Pablo Barrios.

Fichajes states that Spurs have expressed an interest in the 21-year-old Spain international and that they are ready to ‘break the bank’ to get the classy No.8 on board.

Barrios stock rising with Atletico

Barrios has emerged as one of Atletico’s most consistent performers over the last 12 months and earned his first senior cap for his country back in November of last year.

The midfielder broke into Diego Simeone’s senior squad last season, racking up an impressive 35 appearances across all competitions, and has taken his game to another level this time around.

He has already featured 25 times this term, including 19 in LaLiga, and has registered two assists in that time.

The report adds that if Tottenham approach the LaLiga giants with a €75m (£62m / $78m) offer for the Spaniard then Atletico would find it very hard not to consider it this summer.

Indeed, that sort of figure would provide the Rojiblancos financial relief and a chance to fortify other positions in Simeone’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The only concern for Tottenham would be the lack of experience Barrios has at senior club level, having made a total of 86 appearances for Atletico so far. However, his quality and potential could present them with a risk worth taking.

Arsenal transfers: Ayto to 'make offer' for new Brazilian target as Tottenham battle 'heats up'

Arsenal are battling Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Corinthians star Breno Bidon, according to a report.

Bidon is a 20-year-old central midfielder capable of playing in any of the No 6, No 8 and No 10 roles. He joined the Corinthians academy in 2019 and worked his way through the ranks before making his senior debut for the club in March last year.

Bidon has made 45 first-team appearances for Corinthians so far and his exciting displays have alerted major clubs in Europe. Upon learning of Bayern Munich’s interest in the starlet, Corinthians gave him a new release clause worth R$100million (£13.8m / €16.7m).

According to the latest from Brazilian outlet Bolavip, rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are now the two main clubs vying to snare Bidon.

Arsenal ‘made contact’ with Corinthians to discuss a potential move for the Brazil U20 international earlier this year.

Interim Arsenal sporting director Jason Ayto is expected to ‘make an offer’ for Bidon’s signature in the summer.

However, Ayto will have to fend off Spurs to complete the deal as Ange Postecoglou’s side are drawing up a proposal of their own.

A deal worth around €15m (£12.4m) has already been discussed, though it remains to be seen exactly how much Arsenal and Spurs will put on the table.

The report adds that the race for Bidon is ‘heating up’ as he prepares to make a big move to England in the near future.

Arsenal eyeing two midfielders

Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi remains Arsenal’s top midfield target as Mikel Arteta looks to move on from Thomas Partey and Jorginho.

But Bidon is a player with great potential and he could therefore be an understudy to Zubimendi – should the latter move to the Emirates – before eventually trying to force his way into Arteta’s team.

TEAMtalk contributor Ben Jacobs revealed recently that Arsenal have broadly agreed personal terms with Zubimendi as they try to beat Real Madrid to his capture.

Bidon, meanwhile, could follow in the footsteps of Gabriel Martinelli. The winger left Brazilian outfit Ituano to join Arsenal as an 18-year-old in July 2019.

Arteta has played a crucial role in Martinelli’s development and he has gone on to play 209 times for Arsenal, registering 48 goals and 26 assists.

Arsenal transfers: Barca star ‘offered’; £83m Real Madrid link

Should Arsenal miss out on Zubimendi, then they could pursue Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong instead.

TBR state that Barca have given Arsenal the opportunity to sign the Dutchman as they try to get his big wages off their books.

Reports in the Spanish press claim Arsenal are planning ambitious talks for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo.

The Gunners will need to pay as much as £83m to convince Madrid to sell Rodrygo, who has scored 12 goals so far this term.

Man Utd transfers: United ‘going all out’ for mind

Manchester United are reportedly ready to splash the cash to sign Son Heung-min from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, but it is more likely that the forward could be playing in another domestic league.

Son has been on the books of Tottenham since 2015 when he joined from Bayer Leverkusen. The £22million transfer fee that Tottenham paid for the South Korea international forward at the time has proven to be a bargain, with the 32-year-old developing into an important source of goals and helping Spurs become regulars in terms of challenging for the Premier League top four.

Now the Tottenham captain, Son has been described by the north London club’s head coach Ange Postecoglou as “a leader” who “is a nice guy” and “has high standards”.

Despite being 32 years of age, Son remains an important player in the Tottenham team and always gives his all whenever he is on the pitch.

In December 2024, GiveMeSport reported that Tottenham forward Son is “a viable target” for Man Utd.

“There’s plenty of chat around Old Trafford that Tottenham star Son Heung-min is a viable target with the 32-year-old South Korean attacker out of contract next summer,” stated the report.

Fichajes are now reporting that Man Utd are ready to make a move for Son in the summer transfer window.

The news outlet has claimed that Man Utd are “going all out” for Son, who they view as “a player capable of providing goals, leadership and versatility on the offensive front”.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking for a player “who can provide imbalance in attack and be a key piece in their project”, and they believe that Son would be a great acquisition for the team.

According to Fichajes, Man Utd would be willing to make “a significant offer” to convince Premier League rivals Tottenham to cash in on Son in the summer of 2025.

Son Heung-min could head to Saudi Arabia

Fichajes is not one of the most reliable outlets, so their claim that Man Utd are determined to sign Son should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Given that GiveMeSport has also reported Man Utd’s interest in the Tottenham forward, the rumour cannot be altogether dismissed, but one has to wonder whether the Red Devils would be better off signing a top-quality number nine rather than a player like Son whose best position is out wide on the left.

There is interest from Son from the Saudi Pro League as well.

A report this week claimed that Al Ittihad and Al Hilal are keen on a deal for Son in the summer transfer window and would be willing to pay as much as €50million (£41.4m / $52.3m) for him.

While Man Utd are a wealthy club and have not been averse to spending big money on players, it is hard to see the Premier League club pay anywhere near £40m for a 32-year-old player this summer.

Latest Tottenham news: Gittens bid, Iraola competition

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens in the summer transfer window.

Bild journalist Christian Falk has reported that Spurs are among a number of clubs who are willing to spend big on the young winger.

TEAMtalk understands that Andoni Iraola is a manager that Tottenham would consider if they decide to sack Ange Postecoglou.

However, the Spanish media claims that Real Madrid have also taken a shine to the Bournemouth manager.

Iraola and Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso are the two main candidates for the Madrid managerial role in the summer should Carlo Ancelotti leave.

Meanwhile, Leeds United are hopeful that they can reach an agreement to sign Manor Solomon on on a permanent basis this summer.

Solomon is on loan at Leeds at the moment, and the Whites would have to win promotion to the Premier League to make it permanent.

Tottenham are one of several Premier League clubs interested in Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens and could reportedly break their transfer record to sign him.

Spurs have made signing a new winger one of their top priorities for the summer as they plan ahead for the departure of Son Heung-min, who is out of contract in 2026.

Tottenham are in a strong position in terms of PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules) and will be able to spend big this summer, even if they miss out on European football.

According to respected journalist Christian Falk, Spurs are primed to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal for Dortmund’s 20-year-old superstar winger Gittens.

“Dortmund crashed in the league, the Champions League is getting further and further away, and with that the income from the Champions League next season,” Falk told SportBILD.

“They have to win it to be in it again. If they miss out, they’ll have to sell players and Gittens is highly regarded. Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be offering €100m. You have to say that would be nice money.

“Hans-Joachim Watzke [Dortmund’s CEO] recently admitted that they will have to sell one or two players if they miss out on the Champions League. So, a transfer for Gittens could happen.

“The English have the money; they have the TV contracts. Bayern Munich won’t pay this summer, and they could have him with that. But yes, Tottenham I think they’ll bet big.”

Tottenham could smash transfer record with Gittens swoop

Dortmund are indeed having a very disappointing season and currently sit 11th in the Bundesliga table – eight points outside the top four.

Gittens, however, has held his own and notched 11 goals and four assists across all competitions so far this term, hence why a number of top sides are tracking him.

Tottenham could capitalise on Dortmund’s situation in the summer and the suggestion from Falk is that they’d be willing to pay up to €100m (£82.8m, $104.7m) to sign Gittens.

The youngster would become Spurs’ most expensive signing of all-time if this does happen. That title is currently held by Dominic Solanke, who Tottenham signed from Bournemouth for £65m last summer.

As we reported on Wednesday, Arsenal are also admirers of Gittens and one German coach has tipped the Gunners to win the race for his signature.

With this in mind, it’ll be interesting to see who makes the first concrete move in the race for the Dortmund star and how high his suitors are willing to go with a bid.

Tottenham could reportedly face competition from Real Madrid if they try to appoint Andoni Iraola, with a separate report revealing that another top Premier League club are looking at the Bournemouth manager.

Iraola has been superb as the Bournemouth boss since he was appointed in the role at the Vitality Stadium in the summer of 2023. While the Cherries initially did not do well under the 42-year-old Spaniard, they are now flying and are in the race for the Champions League spots in the Premier League table.

TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher reported in January that Iraola is one of the managers that Tottenham would consider if they were to sack Ange Postecoglou.

TalkSPORT reported this week that the young Spaniard is the top candidate to replace Postecoglou should Spurs decide to sack the former Celtic boss.

However, Tottenham are now facing a major headache in terms of hiring Iraola, as Spanish giants Madrid are eyeing the impressive Bournemouth manager.

According to The Daily Mail, Madrid have put Iraola on their shortlist of managers should Carlo Ancelotti leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso is the other main candidate for the managerial role at Madrid.

The Daily Mail has noted that Bayer’s CEO, Fernando Carro, said this week that he expects Alonso to stay at the German club beyond the end of the season.

With Iraola having just 18 months left on his current contract at Bournemouth, Madrid would fancy their chances of tempting the 42-year-old former Athletic Bilbao and Spain international right-back to the Bernabeu.

Madrid are doing well under Ancelotti at the moment and could win LaLiga and the Champions League this season, just as they did in the 2023-24 campaign.

However, there was speculation in the Spanish media in January that Ancelott has decided to leave his role at Los Blancos at the end of the season.

The former Chelsea and AC Milan boss, though, has since publicly said that he has made no such plans.

Manchester City also linked with Andoni Iraola

It is not just that Tottenham and Madrid who have been linked with Iraola, who has led Bournemouth to fifth in the Premier League table this season.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City could also consider Iraola if Pep Guardiola decides to leave.

While Guardiola recently signed a new long-term contract with Man City, with the team having a poor season, there is always the danger of the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager deciding to call it quits.

Iraola was reportedly on Man City’s list of managerial candidates before Guardiola committed his long-term future to the Cityzens.

Latest Tottenham news: Son Heung-min exit, Eze race

Tottenham are in danger of losing Son Heung-min in the summer transfer window.

Son is one of the longest-serving players at Tottenham, but there is speculation that Saudi Pro League clubs Al Ittihad and Al Hilal are interested in a deal for the South Korean forward.

If Son does leave Spurs, then the north London club will try to sign Eberechi Eze.

Tottenham are reportedly leading the race for the Crystal Palace star, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal also keen on him.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are reportedly expected to make a move for Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling.

With Southampton doomed for relegation to the Championship, it is unlikely that Dibling will be at the Saints next season.

Southampton are said to be open to selling Dibling, but Spurs will have to pay over £50million for him.

Tottenham transfer: Positive signs star striker will 'commit' to Spurs, as Man Utd succession plan shattered

Tottenham reportedly feel they will be able to ‘persuade’ Mathys Tel to join the club permanently, as he is ‘loving life’ in north London and that’s a state of mind the club wants to see remain.

Spurs ended the January transfer window with the loan signing of Tel. They hold an option to make his stay permanent for £45million (€54.3m/$56.9m).

Their ability to convince him to stay might have been questioned, since he was initially reported to have turned down the move when Tottenham agreed it with Bayern Munich, before, with no options left, the striker agreed to join at the back end of the window.

Since then, Tel has scored his first goal for Spurs, and showed a lot of promise in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League – playing 90 minutes in both games so far.

As a result, Tottenham are said to be ‘growing in optimism’ regarding their chances of holding onto Tel.

It’s believed he is ‘loving life’ in north London, and enjoying the culture at the club. With that said, Spurs feel they will be able to ‘persuade’ Tel to stay if they can keep him in his current frame of mind.

DON’T MISS: SEVEN Tottenham players fighting for their futures amid frenzied Ange Postecoglou sack talk

Man Utd succession plan shattered

If Tel remains at Spurs, he will obviously not be able to head to Manchester United.

But the option of doing so seemed to be on his mind as soon as he headed to Spurs, and may have had a say in him rejecting them initially, given United were said to be in the market for him, before deciding not to make the move in January.

Indeed, once he signed for Spurs, it was reported by Christian Falk that Tel “would like to” make the step to United “if he can”.

Though that ambition might still be there, the longer he enjoys his time at Tottenham, the less chance it seems there is that he’ll want to go anywhere else, and the club are seemingly aware of that currently.

It may help that the north London outfit are 12th in the Premier League, while United are 15th. That could all change quickly though, given there’s only a point separating the clubs.

Tottenham round-up: Son offers coming

Tottenham will reportedly receive offers from a pair of Saudi Pro League sides for Heung-min Son, who will have just a year left on his deal when the £41.4million bids come in during the summer.

It’s amid the suggestion that Spurs feel the winger may continue to slowly decline and may not even be a starter for much longer.

Meanwhile, there is reportedly a “willingness” for Harry Kane to return to Tottenham in the event that he comes back to England.

And if Son is to leave Tottenham, Eberechi Eze could potentially take his place, with Spurs said to be leading the pack for him, having already put in some of the groundwork for that move.

Tottenham to receive tempting €50m bid for major star they fear is finished

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham fear captain Son Heung-min is finished as an elite-level footballer, and a report claims two clubs are prepared to hand Spurs an agonising decision with bids of up to €50m.

Son is a bona fide Tottenham legend and currently sits fifth in the club’s all-time top scorers list. With Martin Chivers (174) just two goals ahead, Son should take fourth spot over the coming months.

Spurs activated the one-year option in Son’s deal in January, ensuring the iconic winger is tied down for one more season at least.

However, now aged 32, Son has looked a fading force this season and per GMS, Tottenham are increasingly concerned their talisman will never get back to being the offensive threat he once was.

Accordingly, it was claimed Son may have to accept a bench role next season, with loanee Mathys Tel lined up as the potential new starter on the left side. Spurs hold an option to turn Tel’s move permanent in the summer to the tune of £45m.

But according to a fresh update from CaughtOffside, Tottenham could be handed an even more agonising decision than whether to bench their captain.

It’s claimed Saudi Arabian sides Al Ittihad and Al Hilal ‘are both keen’ on signing Son in the upcoming summer.

What’s more, the pair are said to be ‘willing to pay as much as €50m for the South Korea international.’

€50m equates to £41.4m and is an extraordinary sum for a declining winger who’ll turn 33 before the start of next season. And if the report from GMS is accurate, Tottenham are well aware Son is on the downslope.

Nonetheless, it’s claimed Spurs’ preference at this stage would be to reject any approaches they receive for their skipper.

But if Son continues to struggle in the remaining months of the season and a healthy bid of around €50m is lodged, they could quickly change their mind and cash in while they still can.

Tottenham line up Son replacement?

According to TBR Football, Spurs could reignite their interest in Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze if Son departs.

The versatile Eze can operate in a variety of attacking roles and wouldn’t be viewed as a like-for-like replacement on the left wing.

As previously mentioned, that spot could go to Mathys Tel if his loan is turned into a permanent deal.

But Eze would provide Ange Postecoglou with a new creative force capable of racking up both goals and assists and the 26-year-old is now viewed as a ‘top target’ in north London.

Eze’s deal at Selhurst Park contains a £68m release clause that re-activates in the summer.

It was active last summer, though despite widespread interest – including from Tottenham – no club triggered it.

Tottenham are reportedly leading the pack for Eberechi Eze, who is one of their main targets for the summer, as the entourage of Heung-min Son are ‘accepting’ that Spurs are looking into replacements.

Spurs are one of a number of clubs linked with Eze in recent times. The Crystal Palace playmaker has been directly involved in 29 goals in the past season and a half.

He has been a linchpin for his side since moving there in 2020, and that he’s gone from strength to strength suggests a jump to a bigger club could see him improve further.

TBRFootball states Tottenham‘s transfer plans are ‘starting to advance’ already, and Eze is one of their top targets. In fact, it’s believed they have already done work on his signing, leading to them currently being at the head of the queue.

Their interest in Eze being ramped up comes amid the uncertainty over current forward Son’s future.

Though he has an extra year, with his deal running until 2026, Spurs’ board stopped an extension beyond that, with a separate TBRFootball report stating the club are ‘concerned Son will struggle to rediscover his best form’ and may lose his place as a starter.

What’s more, the forward’s camp ‘accepts’ that Tottenham are looking at forward options, in a sign that he may no longer be at the forefront of their plans.

DON’T MISS: SEVEN Tottenham players fighting for their futures amid frenzied Ange Postecoglou sack talk

Tottenham could have many forward options

If Eze was signed, Spurs would have options to potentially replace Son. The Palace man has often played on the left of the attack or as a left midfielder, though he is seemingly most comfortable as an attacking-midfielder.

If he was needed to fill the gap on the left, he’d do a good job, having had success there with Palace, but there could be other options.

A recent report stated current loanee Mathys Tel is being lined up as a ‘long-term replacement’ for Son. Tel has played as the central striker so far at Spurs – amid the injury to Dominic Solanke – and has looked sharp, but is just as capable on the left.

As such, with Solanke back, Tel could be shifted out left, and the same could happen next season if he is signed by using the option to buy for £45million (€54.3m/$56.6m).

There are also the options of attackers Wilson Odobert and Brennan Johnson. If Spurs continue to sign forward talent, the less chance it seems there is that Son’s role will stay a prominent one.

Tottenham round-up: Kane return mooted

After the reveal that Harry Kane could return to the Premier League due to a clause in his Bayern Munich deal, insider Ben Jacobs has stated there “is a willingness” to go back to Tottenham if the striker does come back to his homeland.

That move could wreck the plans of clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Spurs are planning a big splash for Borussia Dortmund man Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

And, Roy Keane has been slammed for an “unprovoked” attack on Tottenham attacking-midfielder James Maddison, who has not had as bad a season as Keane made out when tearing into him, with Gabby Agbonlahor stating there was “no need” for it.
