Man Utd ready new Bryan Mbeumo bid after ally plays key role - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United are ready to return with a new offer for Bryan Mbeumo after the transfer was helped by one of their current players, according to reports.

Man Utd made Matheus Cunha their first summer signing by triggering his £62.5million release clause at Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Brazilian has penned an initial five-year contract with United and will be followed to Old Trafford by another No 10 this summer, most likely Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim has identified Mbeumo as his ideal target for the right-sided No 10 position after being dazzled by his exceptional campaign with Brentford.

United started the bidding for the versatile forward at £55million, made up of an initial £45m payment and £10m in add-ons.

However, this was rejected as Brentford want at least £60m for their star attacker, and potentially as much as £70m.

It was claimed on June 6 that United had upped their offer to over £60m, but that report seems to have jumped the gun somewhat.

There has since been a twist in the transfer saga as Thomas Frank has left Brentford to become the new Tottenham Hotspur boss, and he wants Mbeumo to follow him to north London.

According to the latest from Sky Sports, United are ‘aware’ of Spurs’ interest in the 25-year-old but are ‘relaxed’ about the situation.

While Spurs have held ‘initial talks’ over the deal and Mbeumo is ‘intrigued’ by a reunion with Frank, United remain in pole position as he is ‘leaning towards’ a switch to Old Trafford.

This comes after TEAMtalk revealed on Monday that Mbeumo has made it clear he wants to join United this summer, forcing Spurs to pursue an alternative Premier League ace.

Sky Sports add that United are now ready to increase their bid for Mbeumo to £60m or more, which could get the deal done.

United nearing Bryan Mbeumo coup

Brentford are ‘willing to listen to offers’ for Mbeumo – who netted 20 Premier League goals in the 2024-25 season – as they know he would like to test himself out at a higher level.

Crucially, though, Brentford will only sell once they feel an appropriate bid has come in, and they will not let Mbeumo leave for less than £60m.

The MEN revealed on Monday that goalkeeper Andre Onana has helped United’s move for Mbeumo.

He has ‘advised Mbeumo to join Manchester United’. Onana ‘played a role in swaying Cameroon teammate Mbeumo’ to snub Spurs and prioritise a move to United.

As per Florian Plettenberg, United reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Mbeumo last week as the transfer edges closer.

Man Utd transfer news: Next target; Real Madrid claim

Once Mbeumo is signed, as is expected, United will target a new centre-forward as the final piece of their attacking jigsaw.

Amorim would love to reunite with his former Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres. But with Gyokeres preferring a move to Arsenal, United have entered talks for another fearsome goalscorer.

United have also received Real Madrid’s response after reportedly making an approach for a classy 25-year-old attacker.

Tottenham transfers: Fabio Paratici picks out another sublime Serie A signing - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pressing ahead with a move for another impressive Serie A talent, as the club prepares for the return of former sporting director and transfer guru Fabio Paratici.

The Italian’s two-and-a-half-year Fifa ban for alleged financial irregularities dating back to his spell at Juventus is due to end in July, with Paratici poised to return to north London and take up a new role as soon as he officially can.

The 52-year-old has played his part in bringing a number of players to Tottenham from his homeland over the years, most of which had proved to be a major sucess.

Indeed, the likes of Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Destiny Udogie and Gugliemo Vicario were all brought to the club from Italy under the guidance of Paratici.

And it now appears that another impressive Serie A talent could be Spurs bound in the shape of Lazio centre-back Mario Gila, although they will have some major rivals to deal with to win that particular race.

While TEAMtalk have previously revealed Chelsea’s firm interest in the player, a fresh report from Italy has named Tottenham among a list of illustrious suitors for the 24-year-old talent.

Indeed, Il Messaggero states that PSG and Real Madrid have also targeted a player who has come on leaps and bounds over the last couple of seasons.

Tottenham’s interest in bringing in another quality central defender is no great surprise given Romero’s reported desire to join Atletico Madrid this summer.

The Argentine is unhappy at the club’s decision to sack Ange Postecoglou, as was evidenced by the timing of his tweet on the matter, which came straight after the announcement of Thomas Frank as the Australian’s successor.

To that end, it’s very likely that Paratici has used his extensive knowledge of Italian football to single out the impressive Gila as a suitable alternative to the World Cup winner.

Gila price tag set amid Tottenham links

Both Chelsea and Bournemouth have already signalled their interest in the Lazio man and have had offers already turned down.

Indeed, it’s been reported that the Cherries made a proposal of €40m (£34m), while the Blues offered €35m (£30m) for the Spaniard.

Both of those offers were knocked back due to Maurizio Sarri’s return to the club, with the Italian coach making it clear that he wants to keep Gila on board.

The 66-year-old has reportedly told the Rome-based outfit that he intends to fix the minor ‘flaws’ in Gila’s game and has urged them not to sell the player as a result.

However, it’s thought that a bid in the region €50m (£42.5m) would be hard for Lazio to turn down for the former Real Madrid academy graduate.

The former Spain Under-21 international, who is under contract until 2027, made 43 appearances in all competitions for Lazio during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring twice.

Andre Onana convinces mini-Salah ‘to join Man Utd’ in huge deal this summer - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has reportedly ‘advised’ Bryan Mbeumo to move to Old Trafford and ignore overtures from rival suitors Tottenham Hotspur, and with the star having been compared to Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.

The 2024/25 campaign was hugely disappointing for Man Utd. The sacking of Erik ten Hag and the arrival of Ruben Amorim as the Man Utd manager was expected to propel the club to greater heights, but the Red Devils ended up 15th in the Premier League table and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

Man Utd, though, are determined to bounce back and have already added Matheus Cunha to the squad from Wolves, with Amorim planning to play the Brazil international as one of his two number 10s.

TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, has reported that Man Utd are also in talks to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

Sources have told TEAMtalk that despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Mbeumo prefers a move to Man Utd.

And with talks over a deal ongoing, the Manchester Evening News has now revealed the role that Onana has played in convincing the Brentford winger to switch to Old Trafford and ignore Spurs’ late attempts to hijack the deal.

Onana plays with the 25-year-old for Cameroon, and the goalkeeper has ‘advised Bryan Mbeumo to join Manchester United’.

‘Mbeumo wants to move to United despite late interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Onana played a role in swaying Cameroon teammate Mbeumo’, adds the report.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals and gave eight assists in 38 Premier League matches for Brentford last season, with former Tottenham centre-back Jason Cundy describing him as “a mini-Salah” on talkSPORT in May.

The Manchester Evening News has added that Onana himself is ‘expected’ to stay at Man Utd, with the Premier League club’s manager, Amorim, enjoying ‘a warm working relationship’ with the 29-year-old.

Onana, though, admitted last week that he does not know if he will be at Man Utd, with the Argentine press claiming that the Red Devils have made contact with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

What Man Utd and Tottenham target Mbeumo has said about his future

Mbeumo is fully aware of clubs chasing him, but the Brentford winger has kept his cards close to his chest.

The winger spoke to Sky Sports News over the weekend, and although he raved about new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, the Cameroon international did not publicly reveal whether he wants to work with the former Brentford boss at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or make the switch to Man Utd and play under Amorim.

Mbeumo said: “It (transfer speculation) is a bit new for me I would say!

“I think it can be the life of a footballer and you need to accept it.”

The winger added: “It’s been my best season so far in the Premier League.

“And even collectively, I think we did play very good games. I think we’ve been unlucky to chase the Europe spot, but I think it’s been a fantastic season.”

Mbeumo said about Frank: “He’s done so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start. I think he developed the team so well.

“He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I’m sure he’s going to do well.

“I think he knows everything. He’s really smart. He knows where he wants to bring the team, how he wants to play. I think he’s been fantastic for Brentford.

“I think he’s going to have some time to adapt, obviously. [Champions League] games, more expectations, as you said, but I’m sure he’s going to do well.

“He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that’s why we’ve been playing so well.”

Tottenham ramp up explosive winger chase as Mbeumo snubs Frank reunion for Man Utd switch - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have intensified their pursuit of Bournemouth’s dynamic winger Antoine Semenyo, as Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo continues to prioritise a move to Manchester United.

TEAMtalk understands that Spurs have held further discussions with Semenyo’s representatives over the past few days and are growing in confidence of striking a deal.

Tottenham are actively exploring options to bolster their attacking ranks, and 25-year-old winger Semenyo has emerged as a prime target.

Interest in Brentford star Mbeumo remains strong, though sources suggest the Cameroonian still prefers a move to Man Utd, in a blow for new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank.

Semenyo has caught the attention of Spurs’ recruitment team with his pace, versatility, and goal-scoring instincts.

The Ghana international has been a standout performer for Bournemouth in the Premier League, showcasing his ability to impact games both as a winger and a forward.

Tottenham’s management, led by Frank, sees Semenyo as a player who could add depth and flair to their frontline, especially as they aim to compete on multiple fronts this season.

Tottenham target Semenyo; Mbeumo eyes Man Utd switch

Semenyo’s agents have been in regular contact with Tottenham, who are now weighing up a formal approach.

Bournemouth, however, are unlikely to let their star man leave without a fight. It’s understood that the Cherries would demand a fee of at least £60m to consider parting ways with Semenyo, a figure that reflects his growing reputation and importance to the team.

Meanwhile, Spurs’ interest in Mbeumo, who thrived under Thomas Frank at Brentford, remains in play. The Cameroon international’s ability to cut in from the right and contribute goals and assists has made him a coveted talent.

However, sources close to the player indicate that Mbeumo’s preference is a switch to Man Utd, who are also in the market for attacking reinforcements.

This development could force Tottenham to pivot decisively toward Semenyo, who is their number one choice after Mbuemo.

As the transfer window progresses, Tottenham’s next steps will be crucial. A formal move for Semenyo could materialise if Mbeumo’s reluctance persists, but the £60million price tag will test Spurs.

However, sources state they are ready to back Frank in the market this summer, and a move for Semenyo is a concrete possibility.

Bryan Mbeumo: Tottenham told three ace cards Man Utd can't match as journalist rates 'genuine' U

Man Utd fear Mbeumo transfer miss with Tottenham holding three ace cards Amorim can't match - TEAMtalk
Description

The prospects of Bryan Mbeumo performing a U-turn and ditching a planned move to Manchester United and hooking up with Tottenham Hotspur instead are gathering pace after a transfer journalist revealed why a possible move to Old Trafford is no longer certain.

The Brentford forward is emerging as one of this summer’s most in-demand stars off the back of a brilliant season for the south-west London side that resulted in the Cameroon forward scoring 20 times and adding another nine assists from 42 appearances, giving Mbeumo a G/A every 123.3 minutes of action for the Bees across the 2024/25 campaign.

And with just a year remaining on his deal and with Brentford making it clear they are ready to sanction their star man’s sale, an almighty transfer race for the player’s services has quickly gathered pace.

But while Manchester United quickly emerged as the club the player has chosen to sign for, getting a deal over the line has not been easy. And with the Red Devils seeing two offers rejected so far – their latest one being worth a downpayment of £50m with a further £10m in bonuses – the door has now opened for another side to nip in and pinch the move away.

Now, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, the prospects of Tottenham Hotspur instead winning the race for Mbeumo cannot be taken lightly.

And with Spurs already having lodged a bigger fee worth a guaranteed £65m and another £5m in add-ons, Ruben Amorim’s side now face the very real prospect of missing out on a deal altogether.

With Spurs able to offer two things that United simply cannot match in the prospect of playing Champions League football and teaming up with his former Bees boss Thomas Frank in north London, Bailey has now revealed a third, decisive factor that could influence his decision.

“United are not going to get into whether they are worried, but I can say that within football, a number of people no longer believe he is certain to move to Old Trafford,” Bailey told Unitedinfocus.

“United had clearly seen off the likes of Newcastle previously, but this Spurs interest with the chance of staying in London is different and certainly a genuine option for him now.”

Bryan Mbeumo: Star’s focus clear as Man Utd, Tottenham battle for transfer

Sky Sports have also recently added fuel to the fire that Mbeumo could ditch United for Spurs by stating that the 22-times capped Cameroon forward is ‘intrigued’ by the prospect of hooking up again with Frank in N17.

However, despite Mbeumo now finding himself at something of a crossroads, sources insist to TEAMtalk that the Bees winger is still unwavering in his desire to make Old Trafford his new home this summer.

Having been told by those close to the Mbeumo, our transfer insider Fraser Fletcher remains convinced that Mbeumo’s first choice remains United as long as they can thrash out a deal.

“My understanding on Mbeumo is he has made it clear he wants to join Manchester United,” Fletcher stated.

That view is also backed up by our other senior transfer correspondent, Rudy Galetti, who insists the London side will only come into consideration if Mbeumo’s move to Old Trafford breaks down.

Posting on X last week, Galetti stated: ‘Bryan Mbeumo is NOT considering Tottenham at this stage. He gave his word to Man Utd, with personal terms already close to being finalised. He wants to wait for progress between Utd and Brentford: only if talks collapse, Spurs would be considered.’

The Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell also insists a move to Old Trafford remains the player’s first choice.

“He has a clear vision and can see how he fits into the system at United,” Whitwell told the Stretford Paddock’s YouTube channel, as he revealed four factors that have influenced the player’s decision.

“The stature of the place – and I know people have been upset about him choosing Man Utd when there is no European football on offer.

“But clearly, the raised profile you get from your own personal brand, let’s say, and also the opportunity to play in that stadium (Old Trafford), the pressure, the eyeballs that come with it, I think it (United) are still an appealing prospect to a lot of players.”

Man Utd launch move for €100m striker; Spurs chase pacy frontman

Meanwhile, United are ramping up a move for a €100m-rated striker who is open to joining the Red Devils this summer and having now established contact with the player’s entourage and his current side, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

That move could be funded by the sale of Rasmus Hojlund to Inter Milan and a new report claims the two sides are working on the formula of a deal that will see the struggling Dane swapping Old Trafford for the San Siro.

Over at Tottenham, they are reportedly stepping up the hunt to sign a lightning-fast attacker who had 25 G/A involvements this season, after officially announcing the capture of Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich.

Frank is also reportedly keen to reunite with another of his former players, with the Dane looking to add more steel to his new team’s midfield and keen on a Bees midfield general, according to reports.

Mathys Tel deal done as Frank pushes Tottenham to sign explosive 20-goal striker next - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing a lightning-fast striker who had 25 G/A involvements this past season, after officially announcing the capture of Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich.

Spurs have turned to Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s successor in north London, despite the Australian guiding the club back into the Champions League after securing them their first trophy success in 17 years.

The Dane is expected to be handed significant funds to bolster a squad that was decimated by injuries during the 2024/25 campaign and finished in their lowest-ever Premier League position as a result.

Tottenham have already turned centre-back Kevin Danso’s loan into a permanent switch and now Frank’s first official signing has been confirmed after Tel was added in a £29.8million deal, which is significantly less than Bayern were initially asking for.

Despite Tel’s capture, Spurs remain in the hunt for new attacking recruits and are already in the mix for Frank’s talismanic winger at the Gtech Stadium, Bryan Mbeumo.

However, a fresh report from The Guardian also claims that internal discussions regarding a potential move for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa have also taken place.

According to the report, Tottenham are hoping to sign the 28-year-old DR Congo international, who is known for his incredible speed, power and finishing ability.

Indeed, in 39 games in all competitions for Brentford last season, Wissa scored 20 goals and had five assists, operating solely as a No.9.

DON’T MISS ➡️ The electric Tottenham XI under Thomas Frank with FOUR new signings

Wissa an immediate Solanke threat as Tel confirmed

The report adds that Wissa could cost Tottenham in the region of £40m, with the frontman under contract with the Bees until the summer of 2026.

That figure could be a bit rich for Daniel Levy, given Wissa’s age and contract status, although if he did arrive he would provide immediate competition for Dominic Solanke.

The club’s current record signing only notched nine Premier League goals last term, although he was hindered by numerous nagging injuries in what was a bit of a stop-start campaign.

Wissa has previously been described by Frank as an ‘exceptional’ talent and it’s no great surprise to see the Dane being tipped to bring some familiar faces with him to north London – hence the links to Mbeumo and playmaker Mikkel Damsgaard too.

Meanwhile, Tel has penned a contract in north London until 2031 in what is viewed a somewhat surprising signing by some.

The France Under-21 hardly made a huge impression at Tottenham, scoring just three goals and adding a single assist in 20 outings for the club.

There were flashes of brilliance from the 20-year-old forward who Postecoglou was a big fan of, despite giving him limited starting opportunities.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa were also interested in Tel in January, while Stade Rennais – Tel’s former club – have a share of the sell-on fee in the region of 10 to 15 per cent.

Man Utd transfer news: Amorim identifies two elite Mbeumo alternatives after brutal hijack blow

Man Utd switch to two Mbeumo alternatives as Amorim identifies perfect formation fits - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United have reportedly identified two top alternatives to Bryan Mbeumo this summer as fears grow of a crushing Tottenham Hotspur hijack of the explosive Brentford winger.

The 25-year-old attacker is in high demand after a stunning campaign in which he notched up 20 goals and nine assists, which equates to a goal or assist every 123.3 minutes he was on the field for the Bees.

However, with just a year left on his existing contract at the Gtech Stadium – although Brentford do have an option to extend until 2027 – Mbeumo has become one of the most in-demand players this summer.

Despite already snapping up Matheus Cunha, Man Utd have so far had two offers rejected for Mbeumo – the second of which was worth a downpayment of £50m with a further £10m in bonuses.

But with Tottenham appointing former Bees boss Thomas Frank last week, the north London outfit have now exploded into the race for the winger and topped United’s offer with a guaranteed £65m and another £5m in add-ons.

While TEAMtalk understands that Old Trafford has always been Mbeumo’s preferred destination, those strong links to Frank and Spurs’ improved offer has left United looking at potential alternatives.

And now a report from ESPN claims that Ruben Amorim is pushing the club to consider Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze and another Tottenham target Antoine Semenyo instead.

Both players would cost in the same ballpark as Mbeumo and would be capable of featuring as one of the No.10s in Amorim’s system who he likes to drift out into wider positions.

DON’T MISS ➡️ Every club linked with Jadon Sancho as Man Utd aim to solve fresh transfer burden

Eze, Semenyo arguably more suited to Man Utd system

Indeed, it could be argued that both those targets mentioned are better suited to playing in Amorim’s system than Mbeumo, who operates better as an out-and-out winger.

Eze enjoyed an exceptional season with Palace, scoring the only goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in May that led Oliver Glasner’s men to the Europa League.

The 26-year-old England netted 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 games in all competitions for Palace this past season, the most direct goal involvements he has ever managed in his five top-flight campaigns.

His ability to play off the left-flank or inside makes him a perfect fit for Amorim, although Eze will only be allowed to leave if his £68m release clause is met.

As for Semenyo, Tottenham had already laid the groundwork for a move for the Cherries star prior to appointing Frank and their subsequent interest in Mbeumo, leaving their chase for the former now up in the air.

That opens the door for United to strike for a player who struck 13 goals and had a hand in seven more during the 2024/25 campaign for a Bournemouth side who finished a hugely respectable ninth place in the Premier League table.

Semenyo split his time last season operating on either flank but is also capable of moving inside and operating as a No.10. The 25-year-old is also available for a fee in the region of £70m, should United decide to make a move.

Tottenham ‘close to agreement’ for £30m star as Daniel Levy grants Thomas Frank wish - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Mathys Tel on a permanent contract from Bayern Munich, according to multiple reliable sources, and the forward could be joined at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season by an international winger.

Tel joined Tottenham on loan from Bayern in the winter transfer window. The north London club, who won the Europa League last season under the now-departed Ange Postecoglou, hold a £45million option to make the deal permanent.

TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, reported on June 10 that Tottenham are keen on making Tel’s loan deal permanent and were in negotiations over lowering the fee.

Sources have told TEAMtalk that new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has made it clear to the Premier League club’s hierarchy that Tel is a player he wants to work with next season.

Well-connected journalists, such as Fabrizio Romano and Christian Falk, are now reporting that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has granted Frank his wish.

Spurs are now said to be close to agreeing on a permanent deal with Bayern for Tel for £30million and making the 20-year-old French forward the second first signing of the summer transfer window after Kevin Danso, whose loan deal from Lens has been made permanent.

Bild journalist Falk wrote on X: “True Tottenham Hotspur and FC Bayern are close to reaching an agreement for the transfer of Mathys Tel (20) the Transfer-fee will be arround €35 Mio”.

Romano noted: “Mathys Tel will leave Bayern and join Spurs on permanent deal, agreement set to be reached.

“€35m fee in addition to €10m loan fee, as BILD @cfbayern @altobelli13 reported.

“Tel, set to stay at Tottenham also under new head coach Thomas Frank.”

Romano added: “More on Mathys Tel. The player has also accepted Tottenham contract conditions to stay on permanent deal.

“Club to club agreement almost done for €35m plus €10m loan fee and €5m add-ons.”

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg wrote: “BREAKING | Mathys #Tel is on the verge of joining Tottenham on a permanent deal, as was always planned. Thomas Frank also wants to keep him!

“Advanced negotiations between FC Bayern and Tottenham, as also reported by BILD.

“Spurs will pay a €35m fixed fee; the €10m loan fee has already been paid.

“He will sign a long-term contract. The deal is expected to go through. Final stage.”

Manor Solomon could stay at Tottenham – report

While Tel is set to join Tottenham on a permanent contract, Manor Solomon also seems to be willing to continue his career at the north London club.

The 25-year-old Israel international winger spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Leeds United and helped the West Yorkshire club win automatic promotion to the Premier League.

TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, reported on April 30 that Solomon was open to extending his stay at Leeds.

Sources told TEAMtalk at the time that Tottenham themselves were willing to sell the winger this summer.

However, with Frank now in charge of the Europa League winners, journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Solomon could stay at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jacobs has reported on X: “Manor Solomon set to start pre-season with Tottenham. There is now a chance he stays at Spurs.

“Thomas Frank to assess, but Solomon willing to wait before deciding on his future with a view to impressing the new Spurs boss.

Latest Tottenham news: Mbeumo chances, new Postecoglou job

A report has noted Tottenham’s chances of signing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo ahead of Manchester United.

Tottenham chances of Mbeumo hijack soar as Man Utd target £42m Prem alternative - report - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United are reportedly making contingency plans should Tottenham Hotspur beat them to the signing of Bryan Mbeumo by targeting a 64-goal alternative, though sources have told TEAMtalk why the Red Devils do not need to panic over their pursuit of the Brentford forward.

The 25-year-old Bees forward finds himself a man in serious demand this summer after a prolific season for the Bees, in which he contributed a goal or an assist every 123.3 minutes he was on the field. And with just a year left on his contract at the Gtech Stadium, Mbeumo is ready to make a high-profile move this summer and take his career to the next level.

To that end, and with the player making clear he favours a move to Manchester United over all other suitors, the Red Devils have been locked in talks to try and negotiate a fee with their Premier League rivals.

But having seen two offers rejected by the Bees – the second of which was worth a downpayment of £50m with a further £10m in bonuses – a new challenge threatens to take the player away from Ruben Amorim’s clutches.

And with Tottenham’s now firm offer for the Cameroon forward topping United’s gambit and worth a guaranteed £65m with another £5m in add-ons, the possibility of the Red Devils now missing out on his signature has now become a very real and genuine threat.

As a result, it’s now reported United have drawn up a contingency plan in the event of missing out – and Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert is now understood to be very much back on the club’s radar.

Per Caught Offside, United are ‘long-time admirers of Kluivert’ and are ‘monitoring his situation closely’ as they consider a summer approach.

It’s claimed they see the seven-times capped Netherlands forward as a ‘versatile attacking option’ who could ‘thrive under a more fluid attacking setup’.

Stating United’s interest in the 26-year-old, who has 64 career goals from 294 appearances, dates back years, the report concludes that United’s recruitment team has ‘kept tabs on Kluivert since his early days in the Eredivisie’, and with attacking reinforcements a priority this summer, he ‘remains on their shortlist’.

Mbeumo choice between Man Utd and Tottenham is clear

Per the report, the Cherries have responded by slapping a €50m (£42m, $57m) price tag on the 26-year-old, whom they signed for just over £9m from Roma in the summer of 2023.

But despite Sky Sports’ revelation that Mbeumo is ‘intrigued by the prospect of a move to Spurs’ following the appointment of Frank, sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that the Bees forward is unwavering in his determination to join United this summer.

And our transfer insider, Fraser Fletcher, has stated: “My understanding on Mbeumo is he has made it clear he wants to join Manchester United.”

That view is also backed up by our other senior transfer correspondent, Rudy Galetti, who insists the London side will only come into consideration if Mbeumo’s move to Old Trafford breaks down.

Spurs plot stinging second Brentford raid for Frank favourite after Mbeumo bid - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are pushing ahead with a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo and could quickly look to reunite Thomas Frank with another of his former players as the Dane looks to bring more steel to his new team’s midfield, according to reports.

After taking the Tottenham job in the wake of the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, ex-Brentford boss Frank is ready to get to work with his new squad. But he’s eager for some new additions too, starting with a serious effort to get Mbeumo to follow him across London despite a move to Manchester United previously being on the cards for the Cameroon international.

Spurs have reportedly submitted an offer worth £65m rising to £70m for Mbeumo, who is tempted to follow his manager to N17.

While they await a response to that bid, which is higher than the latest Man Utd had rejected, Spurs have started looking for other targets to further bolster the squad Frank is inheriting.

A new, dynamic midfielder is on the wanted list and in that regard, Football Transfers has now claimed Spurs are rekindling their interest in Christian Norgaard.

The defensive midfield general was on Spurs’ radar long before they appointed Frank and he reportedly remains a player of interest, despite now being 31 years old.

The report claims Spurs believe Norgaard’s knowledge of Frank’s tactics could help smooth over the transition from Postecoglou’s ‘gung-ho football’.

Norgaard and Frank go way back, with the new Spurs boss previously coaching the midfielder at under-16 level for Denmark all the way back in 2009.

While Football Transfers clarifies Frank hasn’t personally asked for Norgaard yet, the report confirms he would have no trouble approving a move for the player who captained his Brentford side over the past two seasons.

And the opportunity to step up to Champions League football – a level Norgaard has never played at – might not come again for the Denmark international.

Tottenham transfer chances for Norgaard rated

While the appeal of a player Frank trusts – also already proven in the Premier League, with five goals and four assists from 34 top-flight appearances last season – is clear, Spurs may not have it easy getting their hands on Norgaard.

Football Transfers admits Brentford wouldn’t be too enthusiastic about losing two of their key players on top of Frank to the same club in the same summer.

Besides, it was only back in March that Norgaard signed a new contract with his current club, tying him down until 2027.

Other sources have also played down the chances of Spurs successfully signing Norgaard. According to Give Me Sport, Brentford would block any move for the former Brondby player and don’t feel under pressure to sell.

Spurs expert Alasdair Gold has also reiterated that Norgaard’s contract renewal with Brentford ‘messes up’ the idea of him following Frank.

All in all, the interest seems credible, but Spurs might struggle to complete a deal for Norgaard.

Tottenham transfer news: Alternative midfield target/Big exit possible

Norgaard isn’t the only midfielder being linked with Spurs at the moment. It’s an area of their squad ripe for replenishment.

They secured a priority option on Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso when selling Giovani Lo Celso last summer, but now look set to miss out on the USMNT player to Atletico Madrid.

With that in mind, Spurs’ shortlist is expanding and there have been some bold claims they have agreed the framework of a deal for a Serie A midfielder currently playing for Italy at the under-21 European Championship.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk understands that Spurs could be about to say goodbye to a player who hasn’t taken Postecoglou’s sacking well at all.

Once again, Atletico Madrid are the club meddling with Spurs’ plans after identifying the frustrated player in question as a target.

As for Postecoglou, a quick route back into management is potentially opening up.

A report has revealed what the next job Postecoglou could take is – and it would take him to somewhere he’s never tested himself before.
