Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly scaled down their interest in Bryan Mbeumo after finding out that they have little chance of convincing him to snub Manchester United.

After confirming the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, United are now working on getting a deal for Mbeumo over the line.

Mbeumo has been earmarked by the club as an ideal fit to partner Cunha in the two No. 10 roles within Ruben Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 setup.

The Brentford man enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign, scoring a career-high 20 goals while providing an additional seven assists. Only three Premier League players – Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland – netted more goals than Mbeumo.

His standout performances naturally caught the eye of several top clubs, but the reliable David Ornstein revealed that Mbeumo’s preference is to join United, even without the lure of European football.

United tabled an opening bid worth a total £55m for the forward, but this was swiftly rejected by Brentford. It then emerged that Tottenham – buoyed by the managerial appointment of Thomas Frank from Brentford – were trying to hijack United’s deal for Mbeumo.

There were even claims that Tottenham had submitted a £70m bid for the 25-year-old, though it now appears those reports may have been somewhat premature.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person indicated that United are closing in on Mbeumo, following a new round of talks that saw the Red Devils and Brentford significantly narrow the gap in their respective valuations.

The report claimed that only “a few million” are left before the two sides can strike a full agreement.

A new update has been issued by journalist Rudiy Galetti, who notes that Tottenham may pull out of the race for Mbeumo, who appears determined to secure a switch to Old Trafford.

Galetti wrote on X, “Tottenham have cooled their interest in Bryan Mbeumo after understanding the player only wants Man UTD.”

“Tottenham see it as almost impossible to overtake Man United in the race at this stage.”

Hopefully, a breakthrough is reached soon, allowing United to shift focus to outgoings and free up space and funds for further additions to the squad.

Roony Bardghji of FC Copenhagen back on Man United’s radar but Tottenham Hotspur in pole position - The Peoples Person
Description

Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans will remember the club getting linked with Roony Bardghji of FC Copenhagen in 2023 back when Erik ten Hag was in charge.

The then-17-year-old forward scored his first Champions League goal, an 87th-minute winner against the Red Devils that had scouts purring.

And naturally, the Old Trafford giants made their interest known in the Swedish wonderkid then and there.

However, talks of a move died down as the right winger suffered an ACL injury back in April 2024, which kept him sidelined until March this year.

Spurs in pole position for Roony Bardghji

The 20-time English league champions have kept monitoring his progress, and TBR Football have claimed that INEOS have even held talks regarding a move but Tottenham Hotspur seem to be in pole position as of now.

The Swedish Messi, as Bardghji is referred to, has attracted a lot of interest from clubs all across Europe, with the 19-year-old currently having only six months left on his current deal.

This means a cost-effective transfer could be on the cards for any team which can pull off a summer deal.

“Sources have confirmed to TBR Football that interest in England remains, and Tottenham Hotspur are one of those who are doing work on Roony Bardghji.

United have also held talks

“The Lilywhites are not the only club that remains keen on the winger, with Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Manchester United having also had talks.

“The Swedish youth star has held talks with clubs throughout Europe, including the likes of RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Porto and Benfica.”

Whether the Sweden U21 international is ready for a move to the Premier League, so soon after a major injury, remains to be seen.

Any team which goes after him will be taking a major risk. But his young age and potential makes him the perfect target for INEOS.

Tottenham Hotspur increasingly confident of beating Man United to Antoine Semenyo’s signature - The Peoples Person
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly growing optimistic about their chances of beating Manchester United to the signing of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo after fresh talks.

Semenyo is believed to be a name on United’s wishlist of attacking reinforcements, following a toothless 2024/25 campaign that saw the Red Devils finish in 15th place and with a -10 goal difference.

United have already completed the signing of Matheus Cunha, but the club’s ambitions don’t end there. Work is currently underway to get a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo over the line, while interest in Semenyo also remains intact.

It has been mentioned that Ruben Amorim is a fan of Semenyo, who notched an impressive 13 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions last term.

However, a more recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit of Semenyo.

Now, TEAMtalk reveal that Tottenham are “growing in confidence of striking a deal” for the Ghanaian after “holding further discussions” with his camp.

Semenyo is a “prime target” for new Tottenham bossThomas Frank, especially with Mbeumo still prioritising a move to United over a reunion in North London.

Tottenham’s recruitment are drawn to Semenyo’s “pace, versatility and goal-scoring instincts.” They view him as someone who “could add depth and flair” to their frontline while helping them compete on multiple fronts.

TEAMtalk add, “Semenyo’s agents have been in regular contact with Tottenham, who are now weighing up a formal approach.”

“Bournemouth, however, are unlikely to let their star man leave without a fight. It’s understood that the Cherries would demand a fee of at least £60m to consider parting ways with Semenyo, a figure that reflects his growing reputation and importance to the team.”

It’s understood Tottenham “remain in play” for Mbeumo and will be there to pounce should he change his mind about a switch to Old Trafford.

Manchester United remain in the driving seat to sign Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo.

Early this month, The Athletic reported that Mbeumo has decided to join United despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Arsenal.

The Red Devils accordingly opened talks with Brentford to find an agreement over a summer move. United submitted an opening offer of £45million and £10m in add-ons but the Bees turned it down earlier this month.

Since then, things have gone quiet with United yet to return with an improved offer. Further, Tottenham’s appointment of Thomas Frank has led to some fears among the United faithful.

Frank signed the Cameroonian from French outfit Troyes in 2019. Since then, Mbeumo has been a key cog in the Danish tactician’s setup at the Gtech Community Stadium. Their relationship dynamic has once again brought Spurs back into the picture.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, United remain confident of finalising a deal for the 25-year-old.

It is claimed that Mbeumo has “told confidants he only wants to join United.”

Spurs are now able to offer Champions League football as well as the lure of a reunion with Frank and it is understood they are “going hard” for the Cameroon international. They are also potentially prepared to offer him a higher salary.

Still, United are regarded as the frontrunners, as it is believed Mbeumo wishes to move to the Theatre of Dreams.

The opportunity to be part of the project to put United back on top should certainly be tempting for any elite player who backs himself to shine in difficult conditions and under pressure.

Further, the wide playmaker role in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 setup appears tailor-made for Mbeumo to thrive, as the Brentford star likes to receive the ball on the right and move inside before making use of his impeccable left foot.

Considered one of the Premier League’s most well-rounded forwards, Mbeumo notched 20 goals and eight assists this season.

Tottenham Hotspur launch £70 million bid to beat Man United in the race for Bryan Mbeumo - The Peoples Person
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted an offer worth £70 million in total for Bryan Mbeumo – £10 million more than Manchester United’s bid for the Brentford winger.

Mbeumo, 25, has emerged as a key target for United this summer as the club searches for reinforcements to bolster Ruben Amorim’s forward line.

The Cameroon international has enjoyed the best season of his career, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists in the Premier League for Brentford. Only Mohammed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland scored more, underscoring the impressive campaign Mbeumo has produced at the Gtech Community Stadium.

United, by comparison, have endured their worst season in the Premier League era with only four clubs having scored fewer goals than Amorim’s side this year – Everton and the three relegated teams, Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton.

It’s evident, therefore, why the Red Devils are prioritising a move for Mbeumo, having already tabled an opening offer worth £55 million (£45m up front with £10m in add-ons).

This was rejected by Brentford, however, who are holding out for a fee in excess of £60 million, citing United’s £62.5 million capture of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ forward Matheus Cunha as the benchmark which must be reached to sanction Mbeumo’s departure.

The Mirror reports the Reds second offer, worth “worth £55million plus £5million in add-ons”, was also rejected by the Bees.

But United now risk losing out on another key target to a Premier League rival, having already seen Liam Delap choose Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford, as the report reveals Spurs have “launched a £70million bid to hijack” the deal for Mbeumo.

“The north Londoners’ offer is worth £65million plus £5million in add-ons, £10million more than United’s. As revealed by Mirror Football last week, new Spurs boss Thomas Frank wants to take 25-year-old Mbeumo with him to north London. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to deliver the Cameroon international as a statement signing for Ange Postecoglu’s successor.”

The Mirror contends United remain Mbeumo’s “preferred destination” but “Frank wants to try and tempt him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the prospect of a reunion and Champions League football.”

The report also states the financial package available at Old Trafford far exceeds the one Spurs’ wage structure will allow them to offer Mbeumo.

But while United may retain advantages in negotiations with Mbeumo, their North London rivals now have the upper hand in talks with Brentford as they have met the Bees’ valuation of their talismanic attacker. And club-to-club agreements are always more important than player-to-club ones.

Description

Manchester United are increasingly at risk of missing out Bryan Mbeumo as Tottenham Hotspur want to reunite the 25-year-old forward with Thomas Frank in North London, according to Sky Sports.

United have identified Mbeumo as a key target this summer to bolster Ruben Amorim’s misfiring forward line.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals and provided eight assists in the Premier League last season, demonstrating a cutting edge in the opposition box sorely lacking amongst the existing attackers at Old Trafford.

The Cameroon international is also pacy and powerful in equal measure with positional versatility, having played as a striker, winger, and even as a wing-back for Brentford. It’s evident why Amorim would want such a talent in his squad next season.

United tabled an opening offer worth £55 million – £45 million up front with £10 million in add-ons – for Mbeumo earlier this month after receiving word from the player he was prioritising a move to the Theatre of Dreams ahead of other Premier League clubs.

This was rejected by Brentford, however, with the West London side holding out for a fee in excess of £60 million, citing United’s deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ talisman Matheus Cunha as a benchmark.

United were expected to return with a second offer closer to this mark but noises emanating from Old Trafford are the club will not be held to ransom this summer.

Arsenal and Newcastle United also hold interest in Mbeumo but it is Tottenham who look ready to rival United after appointing Brentford manager Thomas Frank as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

Lyall Thomas (Sky Sports) reveals Spurs have held “initial discussions” with Brentford over a deal for Mbeumo with Frank’s switch to North London “increas[ing] their chances” of convincing the Cameroonian to choose the Lilywhites over the Red Devils.

Tweet: “Exclusive: #Tottenham have held initial discussions with #Brentfordfc about a potential deal for Bryan Mbeumo. Frank to #Spurs increases their chances – but they also remain interested in Antoine Semenyo.”

Thomas states Spurs are also interested in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo – another player of interest at Old Trafford – but it appears as if Mbeumo has emerged as their first-choice option.

United will have to move quickly to cement their lead in the race and agree a deal with Brentford when the transfer window reopens on June 16, or else risking losing out on another key target to a Premier League rival.

Man United’s Christian Eriksen opens door to potential Tottenham Hotspur return and Thomas Frank reunion - The Peoples Person
Description

Departing Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has hinted he might be open to a return to former club Tottenham Hotspur, where he would be reunited with Thomas Frank.

After United’s final Premier League game of the 2024/25 season, a 2-0 victory over Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, the club announced that Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof will be leaving once their contracts expire on June 30.

This was confirmed on Monday after United released their retained list.

Eriksen made 35 appearances across all competitions last term, contributing five goals and six assists.

The 33-year-old doesn’t appear to be short of interest, despite clear evidence that his best days are already behind him. A number of clubs are still believed to be keen on signing him and adding experience and a bit of creative magic to their ranks.

Eriksen has so far been linked to teams like Wrexham, Mallorca and Ajax, where he made a name for himself before joining Tottenham in 2013.

As he contemplates the next step of his career, Eriksen has seemingly suggested he is open to lining up for Tottenham once again.

He made this admission during an interview with Danish news outlet Esktra Bladet, in which he was asked for his opinion on Thomas Frank’s appointment as the new Tottenham boss.

Frank of course worked with Eriksen at Brentford during the 2020/21 campaign. It’s from Brentford that United signed the 33-year-old as a free agent.

Eriksen said [as quoted by GOAL], “I think he [Frank] is the right coach for Tottenham. I have had Thomas at various times, and I think he is the perfect match for Tottenham, and it would be great if Thomas takes on that challenge.”

“His personality, his way of playing and his way of being. And the club considering where they were last season – they won a trophy of course – but they are in the process of building something up, and I am sure that Thomas is a good man to bring in.”

Asked whether he had received an offer to go back to Tottenham, Eriksen answered, “No, not where we are now, so Thomas should call if something happens.”

Eriksen emphasised that there has been no contact with Frank regarding a transfer, though he did note that the 51-year-old is welcome to give him a call if interested.

Andreas Georgson joins Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur just two weeks after Man United exit - The Peoples Person
Description

Former Manchester United coach Andreas Georgson has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur as part of Thomas Frank’s backroom staff.

Tottenham have announced the appointment of Frank as their new head coach, following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.

Despite beating United in the Europa League final and subsequently securing Champions League football despite a 17th-placed finish, Tottenham still made the decision to part ways with Postecoglou.

Much like United, the North London club endured an extremely difficult season, which saw them lose 22 top-flight games.

Frank has left Brentford, putting pen to paper on a contract with Tottenham that runs until 2028.

While announcing Frank’s arrival, Tottenham have also confirmed that he will be joined in the dugout by former United coach Georgson.

A Tottenham statement reads, “Thomas will be joined from Brentford by Justin Cochrane (First Team Assistant Coach), Chris Haslam (Head of Performance & First Team Assistant Coach) and Joe Newton (First Team Coach Analyst), with Andreas Georgson (First Team Assistant Coach) arriving from Manchester United.”

Georgson’s United exit happened just two weeks ago, immediately after the conclusion of the club’s post-season tour of Asia.

Georgson made the move to United in 2024 from Norwegian top-flight side Lillestrom, where he served as head coach, following previous stints in England with Southampton, Arsenal, and Brentford, as well as in Sweden with Malmo.

Under Erik ten Hag, Georgson was primarily responsible for overseeing the team’s set-piece organisation.

However, following Ruben Amorim’s appointment, Georgson’s role was diminished, with set-piece responsibilities handed over to Carlos Fernandes.

This development prompted Georgson to step down from his role, but it appears he will remain in the Premier League, albeit with a rival club.

Tottenham Hotspur “step up” pursuit of Antoine Semenyo as he leaves door open for Man United move - The Peoples Person
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned up the heat in their hunt for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, but Manchester United remain in the race for his signature.

Strengthening the attack is United’s main focus this summer, with the club not only targeting a new striker but also seeking reinforcements in the number 10 role.

Last month, United announced the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and work is underway to get a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo over the line.

Another name on United’s radar is Antoine Semenyo, who impressed during the 2024/25 campaign with Bournemouth, recording a career-best 11 goals and six assists across 37 Premier League appearances.

In April, David Ornstein of The Athletic relayed that Ruben Amorim is a big admirer of Semenyo. In fact, Ornstein said that Amorim is “very fond” of the Ghana international.

Primarily a right-winger, Semenyo offers impressive versatility, capable of playing across all three forward positions. Comfortable with both feet, he could seamlessly slot into the number 10 role or operate as a wing-back within Amorim’s favoured 3-4-2-1 formation.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Bournemouth value Semenyo at £70m.

In addition to United, the player has also been linked to Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Now, Sky Sports have given an update, indicating that Tottenham are ramping up their pursuit of the 25-year-old, although he still has an eye on a switch to United.

Sky state that Tottenham have “stepped up their interest” in Semenyo, but United “remain admirers” of him despite having an opening bid for Mbeumo rejected.

It’s understood Amorim’s side “remain keen” on landing Semenyo, whose future at the Vitality Stadum hangs in the balance.

“Sky Sports News understands Spurs have recently done more work on Semenyo.”

“He is also on the list at Liverpool this summer and is believed to favour playing for a Champions League club – but has not yet ruled out a move to Old Trafford.”
